Then he said something wonderful. “Well, at least we don’t have jam-packed calendar for once!”
Our weekends over the past two months have felt a little too full at times. Though we’ve loved all of the fun parties and get-togethers, Ryan and I really value the quiet, simple life. Fortunately I think January will be a little more laid back. Bring on 2011!
Breakfast
Breakfast this morning had to be a hot one. There was really no other choice. It was so flippin’ cold outside (31 degrees!) that Ryan and I needed some heat in our morning meal.
I made us egg sandwiches on whole wheat bagel thins with Canadian bacon and a thick smear of Laughing Cow light Swiss cheese.
This hot bagelwich warmed my insides after a long, cold walk with Ryan and Sadie this morning. Ryan and I laughed as Sadie tried to walk while still remaining cuddled up and compact. Even in her little pink fleece, she was shivering.
Ryan and I were all bundled up and were still a little warm from the gym (I took a BodyPump class), so we weren’t too cold until the very end of our walk. By then my thighs felt like they were freezing! Apparently spandex pants do not provide much insulation.
You better believe I am wearing my Uggs today!
It’s boot wearin’ weather fo’ sho’.
BRR!

I feel like I kinda have the post-holiday blues as well, but hey, more time for ya’ll to relax is ALWAYS nice 🙂 Plus there’s still New Years!
I cannot believe how COLD it is in Florida- I heard about it on the news lastnight and my jaw dropped. People vacation down there this time of year from up North…I guess not now! Haha! Stay warm!

I’m actually dealing with post-holidays pretty well. It might be the 2 feet of snow we have here in the northeast that still makes it feel holiday-ey. I’m pretty excited to be rocking my snow boots too.
Brittany (A Healthy Slice of Life) says
Post holiday is bitter sweet for me, too. I love the family time, the decor and the movies, but it is nice to have things settle back down afterwards.
One of our goals for 2011 is to not travel as much because we feel like we are always on the road… we’ll see how that goes 😉
Carrie says
post holidays is always a bit upsetting- the worst part is having to put away all the Christmas decorations :(.. stay warm!
Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life says
I hear ya girl..post holiday blues + freezing cold = no good. At least you don’t have 12 inches of snow to shovel! 😉
Jess (Daly Authenticity) says
Julie, I hear you on the post-holiday blues. But I am also looking forward to some down time. You lucky duck! Do you get to wear jeans to the office?!
peanutbutterfingers says
i do! we have a very casual work environment. it’s wonderful!
Angela says
I have a case of the post holiday blues as well. As jam packed as the last few days have been, I already miss my family!
Anna @ ciaotochow says
Christmas is my favorite time of the year, and it’s actually my birthday today(!), so talk about post-Christmas AND post-birthday blues. At least I have some great things to look forward to…and I couldn’t agree with Ryan more: it’ll be nice to relax a little bit before the madness of school/traveling begins! Happy holidays, Julie 🙂
Katy (The Singing Runner) says
The time after the holiday’s is a weird time. It’s a little sad…. but at least we still have New Years to look forward to. Then the holiday blues can really set in.
sisters running the kitchen says
seems like the holidays always come and go so quickly! im sad to see it go but at least we can all get back on a regular schedule now!
Molly says
ha it is a high of 12 here today. Yesterday it was in the 20s and people thought it was a heatwave…no joke. I need to start making more hot breakfasts!
Amber K says
I hate the post-holiday blues! They are totally bad for me this year, but I will have fun on New Year’s and then be glad when things calm down.
Shanna, like Banana says
This year I had the blues *on Christmas* since we weren’t with any family =(
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
Understandable that you could feel a little blue after all the excitement..but yeah, the downtime will be nice! 🙂
Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman says
Wait, the holidays aren’t over yet! We still have New Year’s. And after that we’ll all be getting the go-back-to-work blues.
Amy @ Serve At Once says
I empathize, Julie! I feel so guilty the day after Christmas when I see Christmas commercials because my inside sobs, “BUTIT’SNOTCHRISTMASANYMORE!!!! :(”
However, my schedule is also clear for a while, and I plan on taking advantage of that. 😉
Alexandrina @ The Cardio Queen says
As much as people rag on Uggs for not really being “fashion forward,” they are the most comfortable and warm boots ever!
Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine says
I have the post-Christmas blues too. All I have to look forward to season-wise in the next few months is COLD…boo. At least Florida will probably warm up a bit soon 🙂
The Mommy says
Ugh, your UGGs look so pristine and gorgeous compared to mine. Mine are nearing being retired to “camping slippers” status…but being in a place where snow and slush are more prevalent than even the most wet of days in Florida that is to be expected 🙂
Melissa (MelissaLikesToEat) says
I always get the post holiday and birthday blues too!!
