Oh heeey! Fancy seeing you here!
Yes, that is puppy Sadie. It felt like the kind of morning that should start with puppy pictures. I’m not sure why, but let’s roll with it.
Fun fact: Sadie was once featured on The Daily Puppy! I submitted her pictures several years ago because I was (am?) clearly an overly proud puppy parent. I then got a bunch of my coworkers at the time to submit pictures of their puppies that were also featured on the site. It was puppy paradise! (For all the pug lovers out there, check out my friend Katie’s adorable pug, Rex!)
Ain’t no shame in being a little too in love with your dog. There’s a place for people like you and it’s called Peanut Butter Fingers. Welcome!
Workout
After that nice little tangent, let’s move right along into the food and fitness side of things.
I based today’s workout on the scheduled Best Body Boot Camp workout for the day but changed things up a bit since some of the exercises targeted deltoids and triceps and I worked those muscles yesterday in my Cardio + Arms Workout. I subbed in back and abdominal exercises instead and called it a day.
Breakfast
Breakfast this morning was wonderful!
I made a batch of my peanut butter oatmeal cookie dough overnight oats last night and topped them with a drizzle of natural peanut butter this morning before digging in.
They are so, so good. And filling!
I hope you guys have a great Wednesday!
Questions of the Morning
- Big dogs or small dogs?
- What is your favorite dog breed?
I’m a big dog lover through and through, but I have a soft spot for French bulldogs. They are so darn cute! As for my favorite dog breed, I’m a little partial to vizslas but I also love Great Danes and German shorthaired pointers. (Running basset hounds are pretty phenomenal, too. Especially #4.)
Lisa says
Oh my!!! I love puppy pictures, I just got a puppy and I happen to think she’s the cutest little thing ever:)
I don’t have a favorite breed I think I like all dogs! Big or small.
I may favor medium to bigger dogs though.
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
I grew up with small dogs in my family, and we thought about a Frenchie but they’re so expensive. Instead we adopted a MinPin/Chihuahua mix and she is our perfect pup! 🙂
Jackie says
Big dogs for sure! We have had golden retrievers and yellow labs growing up! They are just as cuddly as those little ones ha
Christine@ Apple of My Eye says
Aww Sadie!! I love all that extra wrinkly skin that puppies have. And there’s nothing better than floppy ears to scruff!
I wish I had a dog. I’m living in a college dorm room so that’s not an option however.
I love Bernese Mountain Dogs though!
Lauren @ Berry Sweet Lauren says
I love all dogs, though I’m a fan of my big dog. He’s a Rhodesian Ridgeback and the sweetest thing ever so I’d have to say that’s my favorite breed 🙂
julie @ peanut butter fingers says
Rhodesian Ridgebacks are adorable!!! Sometimes people think Sadie is a puppy Rhodesian. 🙂
Lauren @ Berry Sweet Lauren says
Same here! People often ask if Mac is a Vizsla!
Kimberly says
I have a Vizsla/Rhodesian mix so he looks just like a bigger Vizsla and has the ridge. He has the sweetest personality ever!
Ashley @ Sweat for Sweets says
Hahah love that little tangent. Sadie was SUCH a cute puppy .. her eyes are so piercing and beautiful! Aww I just want to scoop her up. I must say, I’ve only had one dog in my life (my current family dog) and she’s small and I just love her to bits and pieces. I’m definitely a fan of smaller breeds, provided they aren’t the yappy, annoying variety hahah. I love being able to pick them up and have them sit on my lap/cuddle. Plus, I’m only 5ft2, so I don’t want to feel overpowered! Hahah.
Laura says
This post cracked me up, because I am definitely a bit (ok a lot) obsessed with my dogs. I have a beagle and a cocker spaniel and they are the sweetest! It is good to know that I am not the only crazy dog lover out there! Keep the Sadie pics coming…I love your blog!
Tiff @ Love, Sweat, and Beers says
Oh yum! I’m not a fan of pb in my oats (which is kinda crazy given my love for pb), but if there’s cookie dough involved, I need to check those out!
Ali @ Peaches and Football says
When I was a little kid I always wanted a Maltese. They were no where to be found in the area we lived in at the time – most people had westies or lhasa apso (always thought that was a cool breed name). When I am old and retired, I could see myself getting a cute little powder puff lap dog. I’ve been thinking a doberman might be good now to take on walks and scare off people who rudely heckle me when I walk. 🙂
Linz @ Itz Linz says
I used to only be a big dog fan! Growing up, my family had a 120 pound Great Pyrannese… so gorgeous…. we loved Samson SO much!!! But I must say… now I’m totally in love with my 8 pound yorkie maltese Zoey – she’s not yappy at all and so dang cute!
Traci says
I am personally more of a cat person, BUT I have to say I love cute, small dogs like pomeranians (SO fluffy!). My cousin has a small white yorkie and he is adorable too.
julie @ peanut butter fingers says
If I didn’t have allergies, we’d definitely have a cat. Ryan and I both love them!
Charlotte @ Commitness to Fitness says
Omg SO CUTE!! i love small dogs. if i can pick them up and carry them around the house me, all the better 🙂
Ashlee@HisnHers says
So glad I found my mistake in making these first time. I love them now! They’re delicious…when you follow the recipe correctly 😉
Michelle @ Eat Move Balance says
We just adopted/rescued a black lab, and I’m SO smitten, it’s unreal. He’s a doll. I grew up with a sheltie, but black labs are my new favorite. 🙂
julie @ peanut butter fingers says
I <3 labs! Such sweet dogs. So glad you rescued! We will definitely rescue in the future.
Sonja @ The {Happy} Travel Bug says
I like small dogs in my house because they can’t reach stuff. lol Of course, Louie is my favorite dog ever, but I’ve noticed that the longer I have a dog, the more I like other dogs. Interesting…
Sonja @ The {Happy} Travel Bug says
Louie is a Shih Tzu…I forgot to mention that! 🙂
Hayley @ Running on Pumpkin says
Mmm those oats look amazing! I wish I prepped some overnight oats last night to eat right now. I am definitely a dog person but usually prefer small dogs that I can carry around 🙂
Jan @ Sprouts n Squats says
Sadie is so cute as a puppy!
I’m used to small to medium sized dogs my mum had jack Russell’s and fox terriers when we were growing up and at my dads house we always had 2 Beagles. But I’m a crazy cat lady at heart even though I don’t currently own a cat 🙂
Jessica @fromthekitchentotheroad says
We will be buying a house in a year, hopefully. Then I plan on getting a dog… a huge dog. I love big dogs!
Tara says
I honestly never heard of Vizslas until this blog but they are pretty cute dogs, especially in puppy form! My favorite would have to be Shiba Inus. I’m not much of a dog person, but if I was I would definetly get one!
Caitlyn @ City and the Cubicle says
Awww, Sadie! my family has a labradoodle and she is the light of our lives. She’s not small, but it confuses me when people call her big because I don’t think she is. She’s 55 lbs, so I’d say medium. My roommate has a Maltese, who is SO tiny. He’s a cutie but I think I prefer medium or big dogs. Regardless, dogs are the absolute greatest. 🙂
julie @ peanut butter fingers says
We say Sadie is a medium-size dog, too. She’s right around 39 pounds. and people are always surprised at how small she is when they see her in person after only seeing pics of her!
Rachel says
I love all dogs, big and small. We currently have a beagle, so I’m partial to those.
We have a menagerie though, so I also like cats, turtles, lizards, snakes and fish. 🙂
Ericka says
Thanks for sharing the adorable puppy pictures of Sadie–great way to start the day 🙂
Cathryn says
In my mind the uglier the better! I love pugs, American, and French bulldogs so much! My fiance’ grew up always having labs for hunting (he is such a country boy and I love it) so I’ve become in love with country dogs. They have a yard dog right now that is a Boykin spaniel that is just too beautiful for words.
Ashley says
I just adopted a 2 year old rescue dog, who the vet thinks is a lab/sharpei mix. She basically looks like a small black lab with a perma-puppy wrinkly face. SO cute!!
julie @ peanut butter fingers says
She sounds adorable!!!
Jess says
I am also a huge fan of French Bulldogs and want one badly. If you want a cuteness overload, check out the My Name is Lentil (https://www.facebook.com/MyNameIsLentil?fref=ts) Facebook page. Lentil was born with a cleft lip and palate and is quite possibly the cutest little frenchie ever!
julie @ peanut butter fingers says
Oh my gosh, I can’t even handle the cuteness. Thanks for sharing. Lentil is adorable!
Jess says
I pretty much just look at pictures or watch his videos if I’m having a rough day. He can cheer anyone up!
Becky says
I like big dogs and small dogs, but my fiance and I really want to get an American Indian dog one day! You should look them up! They are so cool, and perfect for families!
Heather says
Puppies are the best! I actually show dogs, so I love most, but I own 2 Great Danes, 2 Whippets and 1 Dalmatian 🙂
Danielle @ itsaharleyyylife says
they grow up so fast don’t they!
Lauren says
There is never a day where puppy pictures should not be all over the blog world. One of the many reasons I enjoy reading your blog every day. Haha! I’m partial to smaller dogs, especially pugs and poodles. Whenever I look back on Elmo’s puppy pictures it makes me sad to realize I can no longer fit him into my hoodie pouch and walk around the grocery store 🙁
Sarah@Making Thyme for Health says
I have two medium to large size dogs so I think I favor bigger ones. But I love pugs and Pomeranians, they’re so cute! I’m not surprised Sadie was featured either, she was such a precious puppy. Ah, you’re giving me puppy fever! 🙂
Jennifer says
Love the Saddie puppy pictures! Great way to start any day 🙂 I am also very very in love with my Boston Terrier Spike…and we are badley wanting to get him a little sister…a Frenchie as I am in love with those dogs.
I actually also really love Vizslas and hadn’t really heard of them until your blog as they are not very common up here in Canada (just like my boston they would need ALOT of sweaters in winter).
Laura says
I grew up with a small dog, but now I have a newfoundland and he weighs about 120 pounds. I don’t think I could get another small dog after having him. He’s so much fun and he’s oddly more of a cuddlebug lap dog than my miniature schnauzer ever was! But owning a dog has DEFINITELY made me way more of a dog person overall. I just love them all 🙂
Amanda @ .running with spoons. says
I’d be perfectly fine with every morning starting with puppy pictures. Aww gush. I have to say that I’m more of a big dog person, especially because they make the absolute cutest puppies ever. We had a Bernese Mountain Dog who was just a big ball of wiggly fluff when she was a puppy, and I’d love to get another one of those dogs someday because they’re definitely my favorite breed.
Shay @ Whine Less, Breathe More says
Adorable! I keep thinking I want to get a dog to run with me. Not sure what kind. Need one that has the energy to run, but not too much energy. Also has to be good with kids and cats.
Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona says
I like medium to big dogs – I don’t think I’d ever have a little dog.
I like just about any kind of spaniel (we had a cocker spaniel for almost 15 years), and beagles. I don’t think I’d ever actually get a beagle though cause the shedding would drive me crazy.
Brooke @ Running In Heels says
Aww puppy Sadie!! I think Vizsla puppies are the cutest thing on this planet. I wish ours was still that little!
Jaimi says
I love medium sized fluffy dogs! When I was growing up I showed Collies, they are so laid back and beautiful. Now, I have an English Shepherd who is a lot more energetic and loves going for walks. He looks like a smaller Bernese Mt. Dog and is super friendly.
Emily says
We have an adorable English Shepherd too! Right now Watson is four months old and a bundle of energy. We lead pretty active lives, and this breed needs it! After a day running around on the farm, we still need to take him on a walk when he gets home. I haven’t been able to run with him yet as his favorite game is chasing my feet, but I have hope he’ll be a good running buddy some day!
Jeanie says
I Love big dogs!!!!! I have a Golden and love love love him! I have always had big dogs, so I am a biased. However, a member of my family just got a Havanese, and they are a great little breed:)
Kelsey says
Sadie is so cute! And my autocorrect wants to name her sadistic!
Big dogs are my favorite, but I like most dogs.
I have a 100lb pitbull. He’s the biggest sweetest little cuddle puppy in the world!
…yes I love my puppy too much also!
Carly @ Snack Therapy says
I can’t even focus on your breakfast (which does look delish) because Sadie is so freaking cute!
Logan @ Mountains and Miles says
Ha, puppy photos make EVERY day better!! We have a 4 month old black lab mix right now who is absolutely adorable. We originally thought he was going to be like 60lbs, but turns out he will probably top the scales at a whopping 35 pounds fully grown. We think he might be mixed with a border collie.
Our other dog is a Australian Shepherd/Blue Heller (Cattle Dog) mix. He’s a fluffy 70 pounds! (Which also means our new puppy will be HALF his size fully grown, ha). He is my absolute favorite dog in the world. We unfortunately didn’t get him as a puppy – we adopted him when he was 1, so we don’t have any puppy photos of him =(. We’ve decided we love herding dog breeds because they are just so incredibly smart. We have never had any behavior problems with him and he basically lets the puppy crawl all over him, ha. He’s also an absolutely fantastic runner and hiker – we can go on a 10 mile trail run (where he’s off leash and probably runs at least 15 miles on his own) and we’ll get back to the car and he will bring me a ball wanting to play fetch.
Laura says
I am so dog obsessed and am glad I’m not alone. When I got married last year I had our family dog, Hannah (black lab mix), be the flower dog in our wedding and she was so cute!
I love big breeds! We have a 50 lb. boxer mix resue right now and she is awesome and a great running partner. I’d love to get a rhodesian ridgeback but they are a lot of money and I can’t justify paying that much money when there are so many dogs in shelters needing to be rescued.
jan klein says
hahahahahahaha!! #4 is hysterical! Thank you for the laugh this morning. I have always been partial to big dogs, especially my sister’s German Shepherd, Bogart. He’s a big fluffy, ferocious (not really) ox. He talks all the time, he’s pretty great. He’s everyone’s favorite family member.
eliza says
We have a black lab we rescued about 4 months ago (Christmas day!).
His name is Clyde and he is the goofiest dog ever- and is a black lab.
Sadie was adorable!
Beth Sheridan says
Oh Sadie puppy is so sweet!! I think there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with people who don’t think puppies are cute. I mean SERIOUSLY!
I have had two Yorkie-Poos and one black lab in my lifetime, but I so prefer those big big dogs that think they are the size of a Yorkie-Poo and want to snuggle in your lap. I was so excited back a few years ago when that big deerhound won the Westminster Dog Show, since it’s usually the little dogs that win. He was so sweet!
Amber @ Busy, Bold, Blessed says
Now that I’ve owned a pitbull, I’m in love! I will be adopting pitties for the rest of my life! My “ferocious” pitbull is named Puddin’ 😉 And her name fits her perfectly because she’s such a lover. She thinks she’s a lap dog and loves being the center of attention at all times.
I’m desperately trying to convince my boyfriend that we need a second right now so they can be bffs and cuddle buddies 😀
Julie says
Big dogs, for sure! We have a Catahoula (Bella) and a lab/retriever mix (Faith). Bella has probably a good 35 pounds over Faith but Faith holds her own! Catahoula’s are my favorite breed but I love my little “mutt” just as much!
Jackie Macharsky says
I just love all puppies!!!
Fizz @ fizzsbizz says
Oh my god Sadie was (is) painfully cute!! I love how puppies skin looks too big for them – cutest!
My little fur ball Annie is a small poodle mix and I think she’s pretty amazing. I love big dogs too but with apartment living it wasn’t going to happen. It’s also awesome that she doesn’t shed or smell at all!
We rescued Annie when she was about 1 – 1 1/2 so I didn’t get to see her as a puppy but I bet she would have been so cute and fluffy. Awwww puppies!! <3
Sharsti@theblondehairblueeyedrunner says
I’m not a huge dog lover, I’m actually quite terrified of most dogs. In WA where I ran all the time, dogs would chase me all the time! My husband loves dogs though, so when we get a big enough yard I’m sure we’ll have a family friendly dog like a lab.
Bethany @ Accidental Intentions says
Puppies are exactly what I needed this morning. Thank you for that!
I think in general medium to big dogs are my favorite. I don’t like dogs that think they’re tougher than they are, so those little anklebiters drive me crazy sometimes with their ‘tudes. Haha. Lately I’ve been super into beagles, but I also really like pretty much any terrier, golden retrievers, huskies, dachshunds…kind of just dogs in general haha. I miss my dog and wish I was responsible enough to have one of my own!
