Smear a whole bunch of chocolate peanut butter on top of a banana and a hungry little dog magically appears.
We’re all peanut butter fanatics in the Fagan household. Even the extra-furry Fagan family members… like Ryan. Zing!
Unfortunately Sadie couldn’t sample my chocolate peanut butter-topped banana since chocolate is not a dog-approved food, but since I’m such a sucker, she managed to finagle a scoop of traditional peanut butter out of me after giving me the Puss In Boots eyes.

I bought the chocolate peanut butter I used as a (highly unattractive) banana topper from Earth Origins and it is incredible.
After dinner last night, I could not stop heading into the pantry for spoonful after spoonful of this stuff while Ryan and I watched the election coverage. It’s addicting! If you see it at an Earth Origins near you, consider yourself warned!
My breakfast also included a plate of scrambled eggs with salsa for a punch of protein and a cup of peppermint mocha coffee with a splash of unsweetened vanilla almond milk.
A good start to the day!
Workout
Before breakfast, Ryan and I headed to the gym for a Wednesday workout. I started my workout with a 15 minute warm up on the elliptical before heading into the weight room to complete Workout B from Tina’s Best Body Boot Camp program.
On Monday my fellow boot campers and I entered Phase 2 of Tina’s workout plan. Phase 2 focuses on strength endurance training. Today’s workout was right up my alley because it made my muscles burn but incorporated bursts of cardio moves to make me sweat and get my heart rate up. Another winner from Tina!

Question of the Morning
- If you’re a pet owner, what food makes your pet give you the Puss In Boots eyes?
Sadie wants nothing to do with most fruit, bread or baked goods, but when it comes to meat, cheese and vegetables, she’s an equal opportunity eater.
Nicole says
My dog does the same thing every time I break out the PB, which is pretty much daily! She loves veggies and popcorn too.
Shay M. says
My dog loves cheetos! it has to be the puffy kind though
Tiffany @ SkinnyTiffany says
My dog LOVES string cheese! She will eat anything though. I’ve dropped spinach on the floor & she’ll eat it! She also likes jalapeno cheetos, which shocked me because they’re pretty spicy for a tiny little dog!
Anne says
Our dog, April, likes to hang around to get the rest of the milk out of my cereal bowl. She knows that I’ll do it, and so she waits patiently.
Amy says
I’ve got two black labs & a long haired weiner dog! Lately, they’ve had interest in bacon, carrots, & apples. My favorite is the 10 inch string of slobber that hangs from the labs mouth as they patiently hope for a bite of food (NOT)!
Ashley says
I have a 6 month golden retriever puppy & she is OBSESSED with apples and bananas. The second she sees either one she goes into full concentration mode & eyes the fruit while sitting down as perfectly as possible & not moving a muscle until you give her a piece. It’s so funny. However, she walk loves carrots, broccoli & spinach. She’s weird. Lol
Ashley Smith says
So funny about that Sadie eyes…. my dog does the same thing whenever I have a banana. I always give her a little bit and she knows the word now, so if she hears it she runs to the kitchen and sits as pretty as she can.
I’ve created a monester! 😉
Christina @ The Beautiful Balance says
SADIE!! Such a cutie. My pup has those same eyes and looks like a little doe.
MiaN says
Lunch meat! As soon as I grab it to make a sandwich our Pekingese is at my feet without fail…
melissa says
omg… my pup hears, yes hears, someone open a banana (do you ‘open’ a banana?) and she comes running! She LOVES bananas!
Kimberly says
I have a picky eater on my hands. My vizsla mix loves FAKE meat but will often deem real meat inedible (after delicately sniffing, nibbling and rejecting, of course). He is also obsessed with popcorn!
Jessica says
My husky loves cheese slices. She comes running when she hears the package open. My husband got her when he was still a bachelor and cheese slices were her “treats.” Also, when I’m cooking at the stove she’ll put herself right between me and the oven so she won’t miss any food that may fall on the floor.
Michelle says
Our Rottweiler, Adon, loved tortillas. Not so nutritious for humans muchless dogs, but nonetheless, he was an avid fan!
Natalie says
Julie, Sadie needs to try Lickety Stik! We have the Peanut Butter flavor and I’d be happy to send you one to try. Let me know if you’re interested.
Ellie@Fit for the Soul says
This is so funny! 😛 I have an overweight cat and pretty much anything makes him do that! But particularly fishy foods~it’s so funny because he does the puss in boots face, just without the hat.
Michelle says
Chocolate and peanut butter is an amazing combo! Have you not tried Justins Chocolate Peanut Butter? You’d love it!
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
Thank you for posting that recipe for lentil artichoke stew. I was actually just meal planning and in search of a good soup and I think this will definitely fit the bill!
My dogs absolutely freak when they hear the sound of a chip/cracker bag. I guess they know that I tend to accidentally drop these on the ground…seriously, though, it really is usually by accident!
Sonja says
So far all my little Louie (15 weeks old) has had is dog food. To be honest, I am scared to start feeding him anything else! But I sure would like to try that dark chocolate peanut butter. YUM!
Stellina @ My Yogurt Addiction says
My dog wants everything and anything to do with every kind of food!!! Obviously meat (especially chicken) is is FAVORITE!
Lyndsay says
My dog gives the exact same look when there is PB around, but with a little extra drool! 🙂
I have also seen her jump out of a deep coma-like sleep when we open a bag of lunchmeat! Girl loves her proteins! She also eats asparagus-oddly enough!
Erica @ For the Sake of Cake says
My dog loves popcorn and pizza crust. He’s a pug so he makes his bug eyes as wide as possible when he’s begging for his favorite treats!
Kathy says
My dog thinks any food is fair game. His nose is right up there, however, first thing every morning as I get ready for work, if the peanut butter lid is screwed off, no matter where he is, he is beside me waiting to get a spoonful for breakfast. Such a mooch!! He can hear that lid from 3 rooms away!!!
Sierra says
Aww I love your posts on Sadie, my Sadie loves peanut butter in her Kong toy! I foster dogs so my roommates and I do it for the puppies b/c it keeps them busy for hours. They love this peanut butter treat best cold from being in the refrigerator.
Amy H. @ Run with Perseverance says
Thank you for posting the FitSugar article! I’m sitting here on the couch thinking about skipping my workout for the night…now I feel like I can’t!
mj says
all we have to do is say “is it egg day” and they go nuts and head to the kitchen if we aren’t already in it. and if i get the peanut butter out of the pantry they all but open the drawer for a spoon to dig in. hee! 🙂
Karey @ Nutty About Health says
Two things make my dog come running into the kitchen to give me the “eyes”… the crinkle of the baby carrot bag coming out of the fridge drawer, or the scraping of a nearly empty PB jar (which happens a lot around here).
Bek @ Crave says
My doggies puss in boot eyes is when she rolls on her back and looks at me saying ‘rub my belly’. So cute!
Joy says
The poodle is OBSESSED with carrots apples and watermelon. You get the saddest eyes (and really carrots, you’ll have 51 pounds of Dobby on your lap if he smells them)
Low carber Jess says
Peanut butter and chocolate! Yumm. I can eat that all week, but unfortunately I have to watch my weight 🙂
Jory says
Ironically, we have always said that one of our cats gives us “Puss Face” sometimes. He does it for food and if he thinks we are going to catch him (doesn’t love to be held). So cute!
Lea @ Greens and Coffee Beans says
Pets can turn us into such suckers! Those Puss in Boots eyes totally work on me too!
Chocolate peanut butter is delicious! I just had a packet of Justin’s (also with a banana!) for a snack this afternoon.
Jillian says
This might be feeding into his Puss in Boots eyes, but you couuuuuld make him these for the holiday season coming up 🙂
