Today I completed quite the accomplishment.
I finished off an entire box of cereal by myself in 24 hours. Well, Sadie had one serving this morning because I was bribing her with food in hopes of being her favorite parent of the day.
Ryan who?
I told you I have zero control around cereal! It’s no joke!
Despite eating a bazillion servings of cereal today, I was still hungry for dinner tonight.
Dinner
Ryan and I revisited the salmon with raspberry glaze dish that we enjoyed so much two weeks ago and it was just as good as we remembered.
This time we subbed trout for the salmon and it was just as tasty.
On the side we enjoyed steamed Brussels sprouts topped with garlic salt and Parmesan cheese.
The sprouts were good, but I definitely prefer roasted Brussels sprouts. I love it when they get all crispy and really missed that aspect of the veggie this evening.
Dessert included two squares of Guylian milk chocolate.
So good!
Wedding Fun
My friend Leah is getting married in July and is thinking about wearing blue shoes on her wedding day as her “something blue.” Since I am apparently going through wedding withdrawals now that our wedding is over and love shopping for shoes as it is, I jumped at the chance to send Leah a link to a pair of beautiful heels I found made by the same designer that made my pink satin wedding shoes.
Check ‘em out!
So pretty, huh? Well, Leah is a bit concerned about the heel height, so I figured you guys and your savvy ways might have come across some pretty blue shoes in your day. Feel free to post links to websites or blog posts where you’ve seen some blue beauties!
And with happy wedding thoughts running through my brain, I’m off to relax with my husband.
Goodnight!
Kristy @ KristyRuns says
Congrats on your cereal accomplishment! 🙂
omg. Those shoes are incredible!!!
Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine says
I’ve always thought that robins-egg blue Christian Louboutins would be AWESOME with a wedding gown. Ridiculously expensive, but hey, if I’m only ever going to spend that much money on one pair of shoes, it’s gonna be the ones I wear down the aisle! I love that idea though 🙂
Courtney @ The Granola Chronicles says
I love roasted B. sprouts too! I’ve never tried parmesan cheese on sprouts, but drizzling a little bit of balsamic vinegar over them is fantastic. Enjoy your evening! 🙂
Kristen @ That Hoosier Girl says
Those shoes are sooo pretty! She could always wear those down the aisle and swap them for some flats for the reception!
Nice job on the cereal! Kashi Go Lean Crunch and I can’t be in the same room together or the same thing happens. 🙂
Carrie says
I never would have thought to put raspberry and salmon together…but that looks tasty!
My best friend is getting married in April and I am definitely living vicariously through her…haha!
Kim says
Hi Julie! I’ve been silently reading your blog for a while now and look forward to your positive, uplifting posts daily!! My best friend is getting married in two weeks and she is wearing those shoes–in red !! They are so pretty! Have a good night ! 🙂
Julie says
OMG! I’m getting married in September of 2011 and have been looking at those same exact shoes! I can’t decide between the red or the blue!!
Jessica says
Here’s my 1st question – do the shoes HAVE to be designer? Is she more set on the color or the name on the shoes?
If it’s more on the color, she could always find a heel she likes better and feels more comfortable in and add the accents like found here:
http://www.lovemaegan.com/2009/05/diy-christian-louboutin-petal-sandal.html
or here:
http://www.projectwedding.com/blog/2010/04/16/how-to-fabric-flowers/
peanutbutterfingers says
no they definitely don’t have to be designer. i love the links you posted!
Leah says
Thanks for the ideas!! I’m not quite that crafty, but definitley like the thought!
Katie says
Those are beautiful, sexy, and versatile! You could wear them in spring or summer and dress them up or down. They would look great with white jeans too! 🙂 Happy almost Friday!
Jessica says
another gorgeous DIY idea – look familiar? 😉

I am the same way with cereal! I only buy it every once in a while because it’s usually gone within 2 days.
Lauren says
I have like 10 open boxes of cereal right now. I have such an addiction. Not only do I eat it for breakfast, but every night as a snack. Usually 2 bowls. Gosh I can never get enough.

Jasmine @patchworksoflife says
Those are darling…they look similar to the ones Carrie wore on the Sex and the City movie! Don’t they? Or do I need my eyes checked? 🙂
Lisa M831 says
No I think you are right. I had fun looking at all the blue shoes.
peanutbutterfingers says
yes! they totally do!
Christine says
Julie, my husband often refers to me as a “cereal monster” it has gone so far as me making him hide the cereal in his car so I cannot inhale a whole box. I love the stuff <3
Laura @ prettylittlewords says
Garlic salt + parmesan = best combo ever 🙂 have you ever tried Garlic Gold?
Those shoes are soooooooooooo cute! I’m not getting married, but I still want them!
peanutbutterfingers says
no i haven’t but i really want to!
Leah says
Julie,
You are such a great friend and totally just won the bridesmaid of the year award! 🙂 Thanks for doing this! The more and more I look at your original pair, I am really wondering if they could work… Thanks!
Jessica says
You don’t by chance wear a size 5.5 or a size 10? They have that style on sale on http://www.endless.com but only in those sizes.
Leah says
Ahh thanks, I saw that, but I wear an 8.5…
peanutbutterfingers says
aw, i’m happy to help, kafka! 🙂 i can’t wait for your big day!!!
Sara (Miles and Manhattan) says
Ooh i’m doing blue shoes too! Those are gorgeous!! I have to pick mine…so excited 🙂
The dinner looks delsh, I still plan on using that recipe!

I can so not be trusted around cereal either!! I can devour a box in record time as well! I vote yes on those shoes, they are to die for!
JessieBee says
I wore these in navy blue 🙂 http://ninashoes.com/critia-fuschia-luster-satin–14110
heather says
i’m not sure if this falls/doesnt fall into the realm of an acceptable price range(i wish someone could invent a way to make budget talk comfortable)but these in navy could even work after a wedding too:

peanutbutterfingers says
oh pretty!
Anne @thefitbridesmaid says
I was also worried about a tall heel, so I went with a 2″ heel.
http://thefitbridesmaid.wordpress.com/2010/10/28/shoes-omg-shoes/
Unfortunately, my shoes might not be available in that color. So here’s another suggestion:

Michelle says
I’m the same way with cereal. I have to confess that I end up eating my kids’ cereal. It’s bad (and I have to buy the healthy stuff – or I’m in serious trouble!!)
Allison@ Happy Tales says
That’s impressive… 24 hours! Glad Sadie got to enjoy some 🙂
And yay for wedding happiness! I don’t have any links to share, though… but I’ll gladly take part in looking at all the links people post! I’m sure I’ll be needing some help with my day comes 🙂
Katy (The Singing Runner) says
I love those shoes! Wish I had other suggestions, but I love some of the links others have posted!
Stefanie @TheNewHealthy says
I am a total cereal monster too! Sometimes I’ll just have a few different mugs of cereal for dinner–yes, I’m 10 years old. haha
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
OMG those shoes are so cute!! I can’t wait till spring so I can wear high sandals again. Have a lovely night Julie!
Marta says
I am also thinking about doing blue shoes! My colors involve blue also…
Here are some I love:
http://www.katespade.com/product/index.jsp?productId=10776404 (I think Kate Spade heels are SUPER comfortable, so the height isn’t as noticeable)

Manolo Blahnik also makes a flat version of the “Something Blue” pump. Since my fiance is about my height, i’m really considering these!
You can read about the Manolos and some of my other shoe picks (including dye-able!) here: http://martafacts.blogspot.com/2010/09/something-old-something-new.html
Hope this helps! You have great taste though… Love the Badgley Mischkas!

oooh i love the randee shoes in the last link!!

Cereal is so good! I think one of the best things about it is that you can eat so much and still be hungry. Which means…more cereal!

GO JULIE! EAT THAT CEREAL!
haha i have come pretty dang close to eating a whole box of cereal in 24 hours.
Its all good though, sugary cereal does not count as calories, cuz I mean…its pretty much just air right? 😉
RoseRunner says
Join the clean plate / empty box club!!! at least it wasn’t fiber one… that’s a disaster waiting to happen
peanutbutterfingers says
LOL!
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
What kind was it? I could eat cereal all day long and never get sick of it either. The dangerous ones are Kashi Berry Crumble and Honey Sunshine..and then Mom’s Naturals are 2nd favorite!
peanutbutterfingers says
honey nut chex… oh my word!
Lauren @ Hungry Dancer says
Those shoes are gorg!! I am the same way with cereal!! NO CONTROL!
Jordan says
Eating an entire box of cereal is an impressive feat! I’ve never really liked cereal, but I wish I did because it would make a great breakfast option.
Shannon @ Philadelphia Phitness Pharmacy says
love the shoes! I definitely would wear blue shoes for my wedding, I’ve always loved that idea.
Anna says
Have you looked on etsy for blue shoes?
http://www.etsy.com/listing/67339321/peacock-tiffany-blue-one-inch-wedge?ref=cat1_gallery_19
Leah says
No, I hadn’t looked at etsy, but there are tons of options! Thanks for the idea!
mm says
These are the shoes I would have worn on my wedding day if I had found them before then… and they’re supposed to be REALLY comfortable. They’re more of a “tiffany-blue” color than a traditional “blue”:

peanutbutterfingers says
what a fun retro look!
Marina says
thank god, I’m not the only one who can’t resist cereal 😀
Carrie says
those heals are gorgeous!! ocngrats on the cereal!! i could def do that with pb…!..and I so agree with you that roasted is much better than steamed!
Gen says
I would have finished the cereal, too! Isn’t it strange how unfilling cereal is? You can eat multiple servings and STILL be hungry!
Alyssa @ Life of bLyss says
those are SO cute, and I loove the steel blue color! What are her bridesmaid colors?
peanutbutterfingers says
we’re wearing royal blue dresses but her wedding colors are blue & purple.
Hope says
I agree that roasted brussels sprouts taste much than steamed ones. I think it’s that the roasting makes them somewhat crispy. Love it!
Those shoes are so beautiful! I totally have the same idea as having my shoes be my something blue when I get married. I think it’s such a good idea plus it would make for cute pictures! 🙂
Holly @ Couch Potato Athlete says
Those blue shoes are adorable — and I love the idea of you being her “something blue”. Cute idea.
Salmon looks delish, as do those sprouts with the parm cheese! Yum!
Gusto says
Haha. I am a cereal-holic, too!!! I can’t blame ya! 🙂 Hey Julie, check out this article! Since you are my favorite blogger :), I wanna share Mark Bittman’s ideas about food with ya!
http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/02/01/a-food-manifesto-for-the-future/
His recipes are always so simple (his videos are fun), and I also enjoy reading his articles, too. What cha think about this article?? 🙂
Kathie @ Frugal Fit and Fabulous says
those are some GORGEOUS blue shoes!!!!
Call me crazy but i wore my most FAVORITE blue running sneaks at my wedding as something blue! It totally fitted me tho. =)
Diane says
I totally understand your friends predicament. I’m currently looking for wedding shoes and am concerned about standing in sky-high heels all day too.
One thing I’m thinking of doing is getting a plainer pair of heels and then getting some shoe clips on etsy (if you do a search for shoe clips: wedding shoe clips, flower shoe clips, or feather shoe clips, you’ll be amazed at what people can do!!). That way, I have a comfortable pair of shoes that is still exactly what I want. Plus, my hair piece has feathers so I can tie in that idea with shoes…Tell her to check it out!
Leah says
Thanks for the idea! The shoe clips are a great idea.
I am maybe thinking of incorporating shoe clips with the bridesmaid shoes too. Thanks!
Rachel @ The Avid Appetite says
Those shoes are gorgeous! I always have issues with very high heels, but if I didn’t, I’d be all over them!
Courtney says
Adorable shoes! Today agree about preferring roasted rather than steamed when it comes to brussels!
Courtney says
Oops.. today was supposed to be totally 🙂
