One of the things I missed the very most when I gave up sweets for Lent was baking. Sure I made granola and other baked treats, but never once did I experience the joy of creaming together butter and sugar or adding flour and eggs to create a fluffy batter too good to resist.
Tonight I used a pack of Easter-colored peanut butter M&Ms that I received in the Easter basket from my family to make peanut butter M&M sugar cookies.
I used the traditional Nestle Toll House chocolate chip cookie recipe, only I subbed M&Ms for the chocolate chips.
The dough was fantastic, as were the cookies.
I felt like a bit of a cookie monster tonight and couldn’t stop eating massive amounts of dough and freshly baked cookies.
I’ve gotta be honest… I’m really looking forward to healthy eating tomorrow. This weekend was filled with indulgent foods and I need some fruits and veggies back in my life!
Since dinner was made before we had a chance to hit up the grocery store, we kept things simple with veggie meatballs and egg noodles prepared with a little butter.
Not too shabby.
Now Ryan and I are off to take Sadie on an evening walk before hanging around the apartment for the rest of the night.
Enjoy your evening!
Awesome! The return of baking. That is one thing I would surely miss if I gave up sweets!!
The return of baking… I’ve missed it.
Those cookies are so pretty I love the pastel easter colors 🙂 enjoy your walk!
I was thinking the same thing!! Very pretty cookies 🙂 And I’m sure they tasted even better!!
I love baking – and stealing balls of cookie dough!

What a great way to celebrate your return to sweets 🙂 Love the cookies and that pasta dish looks delicious. I’ve never had egg noodles and meatballs before
I could give up sweets, but I don’t know that I could give up baking! It’s therapeutic for me!
I feel the same way! Though I ate semi healthy today, I still indulged in a lot of chocolate. I’m excited to get back to the healthy grind tomorrow.
By the way, I did BodyPump #77 at my gym tonight, and you were totally right – holy bicep track! Yowza. And I loved the triceps track, hurrah for no kick-backs! I’m hoping to turn all the chocolate I’ve been eating into some sexy muscles 😉
And those cookies look amazing.
Yay for baking.. those cookies would look even better in my hand.. about to enter my mouth!
those look amazing. giveaway, much?
Baking is one of the things I’m most excited to return to as well. It’s like therapy for me- after a long day, fresh cookies are a surefire way to make me smile!
Same here. I love just zoning out in the kitchen.
Yay for baking! I love baking so much I would definitely miss it tremendously if I was giving up sweets for whatever reason. I’m glad you’re eating sweets again because you sure do make some tasty looking treats 🙂
I gave up sweets for lent too and it actually turned out really well! I could of had M&ms or cookies tonight but Im just not craving them anymore. BUT you can bet I am having a sweet glass of white wine! 🙂
Yum….those cookies look great!
A perfect way to return to baking: one of the most classic recipes with a nice little Easter twist 😉
Those egg noodles look yum! What brand are they?
I always say that I prefer cakes and cookies raw and unbaked. I love eating batter and cookie dough but I always end up with a stomach ache – totally worth it though. 🙂

I LOVE peanut butter M&Ms! I hit up the stores today trying to find cheap Easter candy. I also love to bake with Cadbury mini eggs..pure chocolate!
Mmmmm… PB M&M’s are my favorite! I bet they are pretty tasty in sugar cookie form as well 🙂
Such pretty/yummy-looking cookies! The different shades of pastels would make them ideal for next Easter! I get the same and start itching to return to healthy eating after indulging.
Recvd my May copy of Health magazine yesterday – saw the shout out to your blog on page 12 – ‘Blog we Adore’ – awesome!
