Today Ryan had plans to golf with some coworkers after work.
So what did I do to entertain myself since I have no friends in Ocala yet and didn’t feel like bumming around in the hotel room?
Well, first I ate dinner at the hotel buffet. Kind of. I picked at the dinner before throwing in the towel and making myself a peanut butter and jelly bagelwich back in the room. And then the fun began!
I took my boo-tay to Barnes & Nobel to pick out a new book! (I finished The Glass Castle yesterday. Review to come!)
I selected this book based on your recommendations and reviews I read. Hopefully it’s a winner.
Two things before we move on to my next solo activity of the night:
- I need an Ocala address so I can get a library card. I’ve spent $45 on books since we’ve been here! $15 a book x 3 adds up!
- Would you guys have any interest in a PBF book club? I could pick a book (using your recommendations) and announce it on the blog. Then, a month or so later, I would review it and ask questions that we could all discuss in the comments section of the post? Yay? Nay?
Moving right along to my next activity…
I took myself on a fro yo date!
Mochi was crowded, but not unbearable this evening, so I waited patiently and got myself a cup of chocolate, cake batter and carrot cake frozen yogurt, topped with Heath bar and Butterfinger bits, Oreos and Cap’n Crunch cereal.
Someone please tell me why so many fro yo places don’t have whipped cream as a topping option? Why? I just don’t understand.
Random fun fact: My dad calls whipped cream out of the can “vitamins.” Whenever we have ice cream sundaes at home he always asks us if we’d like them topped with some “vitamins.”
Speaking of vitamins, I am seriously addicted to Adora chocolate calcium disks. Yesterday I ate eight over the course of the day. Eight. That can’t be good.
Off to look up the dangers of consuming too much calcium…

Love the addition of Cap’n Crunch…i dominated liek 3 bowls a morning back in the day…its a classic..the peanutbutter was even better…but they changed the Cap’n to the old school box and character lately…kinda creepy

Lori Lynn says

Erin says
Love the book club idea! I would definitely participate!
Emilia says
All these fro-yo flavors you describe sound amazing! I wish the fro-yo place near me had cake batter, the weirdest ones they have are green tea and red velvet.
A pbfingers book club would be an awesome idea! I would totally want to join in 🙂
Tara C. says
We have Mochi here in Jacksonville and ours is PACKED everyday at every hour. They are open till midnight I believe! Crazy! Anyway, our Mochi has whip cream but you have to ask for it because they keep it in a little mini fridge behind the counter for safety!
Lindsay@ In Sweetness and In Health says
Ooo one thing about calcium supplements…they can make you somewhat constipated! I would love the idea of a book club! 🙂
'Dee says
Ahhh, count me in for book club! DO it!
I once overheard my husband tell someone that “my wife doesn’t READ books … she CONSUMES them.” I’m betting it was accompanied by an eye-roll.
He knows me well and seems to love me anyway 🙂
peanutbutterfingers says
aw, i love that. 🙂

Try to enjoy the book – it tugs at your heart during some parts but also has some very touching stories!
Carrie says
mm carrot cake fro yo! what a find!
you’ve been reading a lot lately! thanks for the great book suggestions.
Caitlin says
So in response to the no whipped cream as a topping question….. Most fro yo places are by the weight. Whipped cream is an expensive topping with no weight. So if people put on tons of whipped cream it doesn’t weigh a lot and there for not a good topping as far as food costs go. Just a thought. Notice next time when you go in that many of the heavier toppings are first in the lineup and also closer to the front. That way you fill up on those first and have no room for the lighter toppings 😉
peanutbutterfingers says
you are so wise! i bet you’re 100 percent correct!
Karen says
I would also be very interested in the book club! I love reading your book reviews and love your choice of books. I usually end up adding the books you have read to my reading list : )
Laura @ Meet Virginia says
Carrot Cake Fro Yo! Why have I never had that before? Mmm.
I think you will love The Kite Runner! It is my #1 favorite book or all time.
Yes to the book club!
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
I think a book club is a wonderful idea!!
Melissa says
Would love to do a book club, but only if you pick something a little more upbeat! I’ve read both The Glass Castle and The Kite Runner and they weren’t exactly “feel good” books. I’m not opposed to something more serious, but both of those bummed me out in a major way!
At least the fro yo was a bright spot! And don’t worry, I do solo fro yo dates with myself all the time. It’s what all the cool kids are doing. 🙂
peanutbutterfingers says
i agree! i would like to choose something along the lines of the help or a book like that.
Suzi @ Confessions of a Fitness Instructor says
I’d be all over the book club Julie – do it up!!
Funny, my brother says whipped cream in the can is “diet food” he claimed as a teenager that if you ate nothing but whipped cream out of a can you wouldn’t be hungry and would consume fewer calories during the day 😉 I believe for the diet you needed three large serving of whipped cream dispensed right into your mouth/day
Amanda@FancyOatmeal says
Book club? Yes please!!!
Amanda says
I would love a book club! You always have such good recommendations!
Melissa (MelissaLikesToEat) says
I read The Glass Castle and enjoyed it…interested on your thoughts. Kite Runner is on my reading list.
And yes…I’m down for a PBF book club!
Victoria (District Chocoholic) says
I think the only thing that is not good about eating 8 of those discs is that you did not eat 18.
You should have dyed your hair red instead. It cures hotel room boredom.
Hannahviolin says
I would love a book club–sounds fun! I am an avid reader 🙂
Jen says
YAY to the book club!!
P.S. Kite Runner is great!
Kris says
I would love to join the PBF book club! I just started Sarah’s Key because of your recommendation and I LOVE it!! I have had the same experience that you mentioned…couldn’t stop reading it the first night and I just can’t wait for any moment to pick it back up. Thank you!

I read this article earlier today and then read your post which reminded me of it.. I don’t usually leave comments but I thought this was such a coincidence! By the way – I love your blog!!
Emily says
Ahhhh! So funny you say that tonight about Adora. I just tried them this month and they are SO good, like favorite part of my day. I’ve only been taking one, though, and I’ve been so tempted to dig back in the bag, but felt guilty…so, I’m following your lead! Do you have milk or dark chocolate?!
Emily says
A book club is great idea!! I’m in!
Kelly M says
first time commenting. love the blog 🙂 I love the Kite Runner.. I read it in college and got to meet the author!!
love the idea of the fro yo date with yourself! Sometimes you just need that alone time!
As far as overdosing on Calcium the recc’d for women(19-50) is 1000 mg. 2500 mg is the upper level and according to the Adora website, each disk is 500 mg so you consumed 4000 mg Ca!!!
However, since you are not in a disease state or have kidney dysfunction your risk of toxicity is low… As long as you don’t overdo the adora disks on a regular basis you should be fine!!
I have a degree in dietetics (nutrition) so these facts are from my own knowledge,my nutrition book, and the adora website. Just to reassure you 🙂
peanutbutterfingers says
thank you!!! yeah 4000mg is a lot. they shouldn’t be allowed to make those adora disks so tasty!
Amanda says
I would looove the PBF book club! Let’s do it! 🙂
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
CARROT CAKE FROZEN YOGURT??!!??!? I have never heard of that but I have a feeling that I would be a BIG fan!
Ashley says
I love the vitafushion gummies vitamins and calcium chews. I have to remind myself that they are vitamins, not fruit snacks and to not just eat a handful here and there. 🙂

Claire says
Yay book club!!! I’m all for it. I LOVED “The Help” btw, and cannot wait to see the movie. I’m glad you felt it was a good representation of the book (a rarity, I think).
As I was scrolling down reading this post, my hubby suddenly asked, “what’s that?” and pointed to your fro yo cup. “Frozen yogurt,” I replied, “Why?”
“It has Cap’n Crunch in it.”
“Yes, it does.”
“I like Cap’n Crunch.”
“Ok, baby, you can put it in your fro yo cup next time!” I think he is inspired by adding cereal to fro yo! Ha ha! Oh, and I love your blog! I’ve been reading along for a couple months and it’s quite possible that I’m addicted 🙂
peanutbutterfingers says
hahaha i like his style!
Julia @ Watermelon Smiles says

Nicole says
I am totally up for a book club! I’ve been reading like crazy and it’s starting to add up-I need to get a library card ASAP!!
I love frozen yogurt. I’ve become a little obsessed with yogurt land. I waited in line at 10pm-talk about crazy, but worth it!
I hope you get your new place soon, I hate that unsettled feeling I give you a lot of credit 🙂
Katie says
I would love a book club! Can’t wait for your review on the Glass Castle! I’m about to read it myself 🙂
