If you popped by PBF over the weekend, you know that Ryan and I celebrated our first married Valentine’s Day on Saturday night. We knew we’d want to have a relaxing night at home this evening after spending the day at work, so we opted to do the whole dinner date and gift thang on Saturday.
Well, after work today we celebrated Valentine’s Day Round Two. Nothin’ fancy… just me, Ryan and some delicious baked goods from Raphsodic, a local vegan bakery.
Ryan ordered a double chocolate chunk brownie while I opted for a banana nut cookie sammie.
We’ve always had a great experience at Raphsodic and tonight was no different. Both Ryan’s brownie and my cookie sammie were fantastic. I love all of the walnuts in my cookie and the buttery (but not really since it’s vegan) taste of the cookie was phenomenal.
Our trip to the bakery occurred on our way home from running a few errands.
First stop: Getting Ryan fitted for a tux!
Ryan is going to be a groomsmen in our friends Dru and Carrie’s wedding at the end of March.
Once his measurements were taken, we headed next door to Ulta to scope out some hair stuff for me. Unfortunately they didn’t have the product I was looking for, but Ryan stumbled upon his favorite shampoo and grabbed the biggest bottle he could find.
That’s Ryan’s “these people are taking forever” face. (He’s right, they were.)
While we waited in line, I played with the yummy smelling lotions…
…Which made me want to eat my hand.
We then walked across the way to Border’s to nab the next book we’re planning to read together since the wait list at our local library is like five years for this baby…
I can’t wait to get started!
Once we arrived home, we worked together in the kitchen to make a delicious dinner of chicken parmesan with roasted cauliflower and broccoli.
It was a great second celebration of Valentine’s Day.
Off to chill on the couch and watch The Bachelor. Can’t wait to watch what kind of crazy Michelle brings to the table tonight!
I really love that you’re always trying vegetarian and vegan food 🙂 have you ever thought of going full on vegetarian? Do you know the reasons behind doing so? (animal cruelty, environment, health, etc..)
That vegan cookie sandwich looks AMAZING. People never think that vegan baked goods will be as good as the originals, but they’re usually surprised! Oh, and I always want to eat Yankee Candles. I can’t keep the buttercream one in my house because then I crave it 24/7 🙂
You will love Water For Elephants! i just finished it
Oooh I’ve heard that book is really good! It’s one on my list. I LOVE the looks of your cookie sandwich. The bakery sounds amazing. Have a lovely night with The Bachelor (and Ryan, of course!) 🙂
Michelle is crazy!! She has got to still be there for ratings.
happy valentine’s day to you and ryan!
hey…where’d he get the outrigger canoe club shirt?!?!
I love your addiction to sweets! I was hoping for some fro yo tonight! Though your nanner sammie looks scrumdidliumptious!
I can’t wait to hear how the read-aloud goes for you and Ryan. Water for Elephants has some doozies that made this girl blush, and that’s a hard thing to do!
By the way, I love your blog! I stumbled upon it (how lucky for me!) I also found that we wen’t to high school in the same district~ what are the odds?
So fun! I’m reading Water for Elephants right now & it’s really good! I still want to get The Hunger Games books, though!
Your vegan treat looks delicious! It reminds me a lot of the cookie pies that Babycakes, a vegan baker in NYC and LA sells…sooo good! Have a great night!
I just started reading Water for Elephants! I only read about one chapter. I’m waiting for my break between school semesters when textbooks aren’t ruling my life to finish!
That reminds me….I need to DVR the Bachelor tonight!! Michelle is crazy!
I can hardly wait to watch The Bachelor tomorrow. My hubster hates reality TV, so I don’t get to watch it until tomorrow! Michelle is all sorts of nuts.
Those veggies look delicious! I’m currently googling how to roast veggies…lame, I know.
Oh my that cookie sandwich looks FANtastic!!! Have a great night with the cARazy bachelor women…..
Ryan looks sharp in that tux… complete with the flip flops. 😉
Looks like a lovely day! 😀
I seriously think there must be something written into the Bachelor contract that allows the show’s producers to pick one person to keep on each week for rating’s sake. This season’s producer’s pick? Michelle fo’ sho’. 😉
That cookie looks delicious!!
Glad to see you went to Jos. Bank…my husband the general manager at one here in Indy! 🙂
my husband *is* the general manager…geez! lol
Brad said Michelle could be volatile and I think he is totally right!
AHHHHH SHES GONE!!!!!!!!
I cant believe. Brad has been doing a solid job with his choices. this-drama-elimination-ability NEVER happens on this show. awesome.
and that vegan bakery looks awesome! wish there was one in my town, and so funny about the ulta soaps, i was literally doing the same thing last week!
happy valentines day, looks like you had a great one!
That is SUCH a great book! I hope you two like it!
Those ULTA lotions smell AMAZING!!! I always want to buy them, but I always restrain myself!
You guys are way too cute 😉 And that banana cookie sammie looks like something I DEFINITELY want to recreate. yummo!
you are going to love water for elephants. but since you are an animal lover, it’s going to make you sad too! totally worth the read though!
I just got done reading Water for Elephants and it was good but very graphic.
Your cookie sammie looks awesome!
I’m embarrassed to even admit that I’m from the same city as that nut case Michelle. I’m so grateful she is gone I couldn’t stand another minute of her! I hope I never run into her. I’d definitely have to give her a piece of my mind. 😉
Ive got to try the bakery. Everything looks yummy 🙂
I heard that is a GREAT book, you’ll have to let me know how it is!
I LOVED Water for Elephants! Definitely post about how you liked it once you’re done!
What a cute coupley night!
Your banana nut cookie sammie is making me hungry at 1:30am! Now I’m going to have to go scour the kitchen for something delicious. 🙂
I’m SO glad Michelle is gone! I’ve been a little skeptical about Brad, but my respect for him just quadrupled! I’m glad he has a big enough brain to realize that some of these women are nutso (unlike last season’s Bachelor! haha)
Sounds like you had a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
nannaer nut cookie sammie!!! YUM.. i LOVE smelling all the crazy lotions!!!!!
That Ryan Face is hilarious! To me, it said this: “Am I happy to see you, or is this a HUGE bottle of shampoo?” hahah!
What a fun way to celebrate Valentine’s Day! 🙂 My boyfriend can’t stand it when I drag him to Ulta. He always looks so bored. Haha!
So glad that Michelle is gone on the Bachelor! She is crazy!
Hi Julie,
Do you think you could share your moms lasagna recipe? also if you have a baked bean recipe, that would be great. I love your blog and your doggie too.
yuuuumm! I LOVE Ulta trips.
how many people do you think were heard ’round the world screaming for joy at the end of last night’s rose ceremony?
and how many people hysterically laughing at the crazy rocking herself in the back of that limo?
oh, michelle.
I love Vegan desserts! It seems you guys have a lot great desserts around there 🙂
dinner looks yummy! Wanted to share that your “I never regretted a workout” mantra got me out of bed and to the gym this AM! My alarm went off and I lay there for a few minutes, deciding if I should opt for a few more Z’s, but I realized that I would have spent all day at work regretting not going 🙂
Water for Elephants is so good! I just finished it up a couple weeks ago. I love the you and Ryan read together. I actually suggested the idea to my husband and he’s totally on board. As soon as I finish the chick-lit book I’m reading we’re going to start something together. 🙂
Those desserts look so delicious! My husband and I went to Mrs Field’s yesterday and munched on mini cookies–but man–those vegan ones look so good!
P.S. I’m in Carrie and Dru’s wedding, too! It will be fun to see you there!
Have a great Tuesday!
What a handsome husband! Guys always look great in tuxedos. Water for Elephants is an AMAZING book–hope you love it!
“Water for Elephants” is one of my favorites!! I read it in December and finished it in about 3 days. It’s amazing!
Great book! Hope you enjoy 🙂
That bakery looks great, I wish we had a good local vegan bakery 🙂 Oh, and Water for Elephants was such a great book, definitely a good read 🙂
My comment has nothing to do with your post, but…
I added Chia seeds to my breakfast this morning, after seeing them on your blog, and I am making them a staple in my diet! They really are such a nutrient rich super food and so so easy to use in anything. Thanks for adding another layer of health to my day. 🙂
Awesome book! I love that you guys read together. My boyfriend & I have been reading together before bed lately, separate books, but I love our reading time.
the chicken looks yummy and the cookie too. Im glad you had a great part II valentines day!
That’s the best book! It’s so cute that you guys do a little book club together – I’m definitely going to be suggesting that to my hubs.
Janine
your friends name’s Dru and Carrie…”drew carey” hehehe 😛
