Hello and happy Tuesday!
This Tuesday began as most Tuesdays do around here… with a sweaty workout!
I hopped back and forth from the elliptical to the treadmill, completing this workout:
- 10 min. run
- 10 min. elliptical
- 10 min. run
- 10 min. elliptical
- 5 min. run
- 5 min. elliptical
The hotel gym was empty and the treadmill and elliptical are right next to each other, so I was able to do this workout without looking like a totally indecisive nut job. Woo!
Breakfast
Today’s morning meal was highlighted by a muffin top!
Who says muffin tops are a bad thing? I ate the top off a blueberry muffin while I cooked up a bowl of oatmeal in the microwave.
I topped my oats with peanut butter and some Raisin Bran cereal (aka poor man’s granola) before digging in.
Sadly the bran flakes didn’t hold their crunch once they were stirred into my peanut butter oats. Bust.
And now for a Sadie update! I miss my little girl so, so much.
Sadie Update
Every day my mom sends me an email with updates about Sadie. (Sadie is staying with my parents while Ryan and I live in a hotel in Ocala until we can move into our rental house.) My mom knows how much Ryan and I miss Sadie (we’re going to see her on Friday!!) and keeps us in the loop with her crazy antics.
I thought you fellow Sadie lovers out there might get a kick out of a couple of these completely unedited excerpts I pulled out of her emails:
August 9
- Subject: How do you make a bed with a wild dog in it?
Every day I face the same dilemma. Sadie wants to be loved and thinks the bed is her platform for special attention. She is right but I’ve come to realize that she has a limitless capacity. If I’m willing to hold her, kiss her and rub her back, she’s willing to just hang out there. She’s even developed a long reach to grab ahold of me as I walk by.
August 6
- Subject: Beach blast, or should I say squirt
We just got back from the Fort DeSoto dog beach and it is a winner. A puppy bit at Sadie’s ears and was driving her crazy (we wouldn’t recommend getting a new puppy as a pal based on this observation). She started drinking the salt water and we did our best to stop her. However, she had a few squirts on the beach and we decided she’d had enough.
August 5
- Subject: How to get a ball out of Sadie’s mouth
I’m wondering how you play ball with Sadie. She loves her new pink tennis ball and wants me to play with it BUT she wants me to pull on it while it is in her mouth. She LOVES it and is so happy with this toy. After saying "drop" seriously about 10 times, she loosens her grip a bit. Oh, she just dropped it by me from the sofa. I think she wants me to stop typing!
July 25
- Subject: Sadie meets Roomba
Sadie got to meet our new Roomba vacuum today. It was so cute. She was resting on Leslie’s bed to stay out of its way and it went into Leslie’s room. Sadie leaped over it to get out of the room.

Whenever I try to do elliptical/treadmill circuits I feel like an idiot jumping back and forth to machines 🙁
But I’m glad this worked out for you haha
Kara says
I loved your mom’s emails. My mom would do the same thing but probably write as if it were my dog talking. Gotta love moms.
Brittany (A Healthy Slice of Life) says
How sweet of your mom to send you tidbits like that!
Koda is scared of vacuums, too, and I’d love to watch her with a roomba- must be hilarious!!
Claire @ Navigating North says

My mom just got those dishes and absolutely loves them!
Jihane @Sinful Sundays says
Ha! I am not even into animals like that, but those were the cutest e-mails. I love how your mom updates her life dilemmas. <3 Good times.

Laura @ prettylittlewords says
Hahahah oh my gosh, these are hilarious!! Judging by how hard I’m laughing, I can’t imagine the number these do on you! My mom sends me the same kind of updates about my childhood cat that still lives with them, they always make my day.
peanutbutterfingers says
they seriously are the highlight of my day. i read them aloud to ryan when he gets home from work and they crack us up!
Anne @strawberryjampackedlife says
We just got our little April back from her grandparents. I think she likes them better though. They feed her grilled hot dogs and take her on errands with them. Yesterday she jumped in the car in the garage and refused to get out until they took her somewhere.
I totally feel your pain at missing your puppy. Glad you get to go see her in a few days!
Jen from The Paper Pod says
I. Love. This. Post. Being a dog mom, I know how great these emails are- and gives me hope that I’m not weird, it’s perfectly normal to call the “grandparents” to check in on the pupkids 🙂
Amanda @ Running On Waffles says
This post makes me want a dog even more!!!!!!! I CANNOT WAIT to move to an apartment that will let us have a dog!!!!!!
Lauren @ Sugar Coated Sisters says
Hopefully you two get to move soon and have Sadie back!

Your mom is so going to miss having that face around when you get her back!
Julia @ The Accidental Gap Year says
How adorable! Dogs and Moms are just the best, aren’t they?
Ashley says
Those little e-mails are the best! OB, my vizsla, does the same exact thing when I try to make the bed in the mornings. She brings me every toy out of her toy bin and hops up onto the bed to show me (which completely undoes the progress I’ve made in getting the bed to look nice) what toy she has found. I would say most day-to-day task take a bit longer when a vizsla is involved, but they are totally worth the extra time spent in bed-making! 🙂 I know you guys can’t wait to get her back!
Morgan @ Some Kind of Sunshine says
This just made my afternoon! Sadie is such a little cutie! I love her mouth wide-open pictures! SO presh.
Jamie aka "Sometimes Healthy" Girl says
awww how precious! I’m sure it’s so hard to be away from your dog! Sadie is adorable and I love that you share these updates 🙂 PS- I am a HUGE fan of muffin tops 😉
Jordan @ food, sweat, and beers says
Something about dogs and vacuum cleaners, Roomba or hand-pushed, always make me laugh so hard. These pups will race up to giant other dogs, will take wild, haphazard jumps off docks into water, but something about that vacuum cleaner strikes the fear of God into their hearts…
Gotta love em.
Gen says
That’s so nice of your Mom to take care of Sadie!
Brittany *Sparkles* says
Hahaha why are pets so terrified of Vacuums? hilarious.
And ‘poor man’s granola’… LOL.
Swayzelova says
Thanks for the Sadie update. The blog is just not the same without her!!
I always look forward to seeing and hearing about her shenanigans
Katie says
Cute! My brothers old dog would push his nose on my parents Roomba to start it. Then he’d get scared and run away. It was hysterical.
Cynthia (It All Changes) says
So funny a dog as big as Sadie gets out of the way of a roomba. We thought about getting one because our dogs are scared to death of our vacuum. They hide under the bed until it comes after them and then run behind the couch.
chelsea says
Awh haha your mom is going to miss Sadie! I think she needs a dog of her own now lol 🙂
Kendall (On An Inhale) says
You can tell your mom loves Sadie!! I know the feeling of missing your dog. My little guy is 12 and is our family dog. Since I’ve moved out I see him about ever 2 wks. He loves our place because there are sooo many dogs and things to smell in our building. Hes only 4lbs but thinks hes a tough guy!!
Joan says
I bet you miss that dog like crazy. She is cutest blog dog ever.
Amanda @FancyOatmeal says
Love those emails! We get very similar ones from my mom about our cat that my parents sit for us while we’re in AK. My favorites are about how our cat, Barry, likes to lounge all over my mom’s sewing projects, and scoops up the fabric that my mom wants to work with next.
Alyssa @ Life of bLyss says
hahaha. I’m so glad my mom isn’t the only one who sends e-mail updates while pup-sitting.
only my mom does them from Chloe’s point of view…. yeah.
Cait's Plate says
Ahahah – I can only imagine what my sister’s dog would do with a Roomba! She’s a teacup chihuahua and would probably FREAK out!
Shannon says
Love the updates! It is so nice that they can appreciate the quirks of your pup as much as you do 🙂 I always feel bad leaving my pups with my family when I go away, because I think – they don’t love them like I love them! But it turns out… they do 🙂
Rosa - Fitness, Food, Fulfilled says
Sadie sounds so awesome. Love the reaching out to be loved comment. Cute!
Rachel says
I love Sadie!! And feel kind of creepy because she has been in my dream before. I guess that’s what happens when you have favorite blogs?? PS, the captions are hysterical- my sister and I give our dog a voice which other people don’t get. Are we the only ones?!
Maria@La_Piattini says
Aww those pictures of Sadie are so cute- you must miss her soo much! I love the Roomba story best- too funny!
Ali @ Ali Runs says
Oh my gosh, I love the captions under each of Sadie’s pictures. She’s like a little human! 🙂

Stephanie says
This made my day! I am laughing so hard – my coworker asked me what was so funny! lol I am getting a new puppy in 2 weeks and I can’t wait for these funny moments!
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
I’m exhausted just reading that workout! I feel like I’d be worn out with a full 50 minutes; how fast do you run and do you keep your elliptical on a high resistance the whole time?
peanutbutterfingers says
i run at a 6.5 and do the elliptical on a level 11 (out of 20).
Joe @ The Frolicking Fells says
You guys should make a Twitter account for Sadie! We made one for our dog (his name is Butters, his username is @buttersfell) so that he can keep in contact with all of our friends and relatives throughout America that love him.
Ruthie Hart says
hahahah she is so cute!! our family friends had a visla and he was so crazy and ate towels!!!!! I bet you are going crazy without her. My hubby works from home full time and I get sad because he gets to spend the day with Ernie while I am at work! Lol
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
The “squirts” one made me laugh! The first time we took Ginger to the beach when we lived in Florida she had what I like to refer to as “projectile diarrhea” about an hour after drinking copious amounts of salt water. So now, not only are our dogs bonded with ass-grass but salt water “squirts” too 😉 haha
Cait @ Cait hates Cake says
Haha, love the Sadie emails. I bet you miss her like crazy! So cute.
Kathryn says
I so enjoy the Sadie updates!!
