Quite a few of you have asked what Ryan and Sadie did while I was in Europe. Considering the fact that these two are best buddies, they spent a lot of time together. Some of you may recall Ryan’s first guest post when he talked about how they’re basically connected at the hip whenever I leave.
When I was away, Ryan told me that the two of them enjoyed many trips to the dog park, hikes at Weikwa Springs and double cheeseburgers from McDonald’s (her preference for the chicken sandwich was ignored due to cost).
One thing they also did? Went to PetSmart and got Sadie an obnoxious bright orange collar and leash set.
Please ignore the fact that Sadie looks like she’s 85 years old in the above picture and direct your attention to the psychedelic orange thing around her neck.
Ryan has wanted to deck Sadie out in neon orange or camo gear since she was a puppy. Fortunately I’ve always been at the store with Ryan and talked him off the edge by reminding him that Sadie is a girl and we are not hunters.
Well, this time his dad was with him at the pet store, not me, so Sadie came home looking like a little huntress. We took her to the dog park today and she looked like a genuine field dog… a male field dog.
Dinner
After spending a good hour at the dog park laughing at Sadie’s glow-in-the-dark/ DayGlo collar set, we came home to enjoy a dinner that cooked itself!
The main ingredient of our tacos was taco-seasoned pulled chicken that we prepared the same way we usually make slow cooker tacos with ground chicken, only we used two chicken breasts instead.
We topped whole wheat tortillas with the chicken, lettuce, cheese and fresh salsa and rolled everything up before digging in.
Sadie was all about the chicken and since I felt bad about her looking like a boy at the dog park I made sure to share some of the leftover meat with her.
Heeere she comes!
Time to pack my lunch and grab somethin’ sweet before settling on the couch for the rest of the night.
P.S. The Fashion page was updated this evening!
Haha that orange collar is quite fabulous. Neon is hot for spring, Sadie is so trendy!
That orange collar is hilarious!!! Boys will be boys!!
Aww….Sadie still looks beautiful!! 😉
Your chicken tacos look amazing!!!
Sadie is so cute! And I laughed at the first picture.. my dog is the most un-photogenic animal ever. But she’s the most adorable chocolate lab in person!
David hunts occasionally and has a bright orange vest for koda…. Who happens to be scared of gun shots.
Silly boys!
Amen..Dogs were domesticated to first hunt then for protection. We have a big ol Black Lab, and my fiance frowns when I try and get him to chase other animals and to hunt….I dont even think dogs should be allowed in the house…but we see where my opinions weigh in as he is sittin inbetween us on the couch watching the Cubs game with us…what ferocious hunters we both have…
hahahahaha Sadie is so cute!! 😀
Haahahaa that’s too funny! Guys can be so weird sometimes 🙂
I love doing salsa chicken in the slow cooker. So flippin’ easy and delicious!
Oh dear . . . well if that’s the most mischief Ryan got into while you were away, it’s a small price to pay. 😉
Those tacos are calling to me! I haven’t made tacos at home in forever, but I think I need to put them on my menu!
hahaha I love your comment about Sadie being a girl dog and you guys NOT being hunters! That’s the FIRST thing I thought of when I saw the first pic of her….she looks like a little bird hunting dog! So cute though…she can totally pull it off. 😉
haha she is a total girl, don’t worry:)
I love dinners that cook themselves, thats for sure!!
Awe, she still looks like a lady!
haaaaa that is such a funny story! Ryan wanted to dress Happy up as a football for halloween. At first, i thought everyone would think she was a boy pup (we had just gotten her 2 weeks earlier…) then i realized how CUTE she’d look as a football… so we totally got her the football costume. And we broke it out for special games, as well as the Superbowl!!! Happy now even has her own stuffed football toy. She a tom-boy of a dog 😛
That is one of the cutest pictures of I seen of Sadie!
We just got Maggie a new collar too!! My mom wanted to get light pink, but my dad insisted that even though she’s a girl she doesn’t need to look like Bruiser Woods. So, we compromised with light blue. I think it’s time to break out the glue gun and add a big bow to that collar!!
Your tacos look great! 🙂
My husband always wants to buy what I consider “boyish” type collars for our female dog too. This last one is black with fish on it. Although I like this one, because we call her Doggie Fish!
“Sadie is a girl and we are not hunters”
This made me laugh out loud!!
“since I felt bad about her looking like a boy at the dog park I made sure to share some of the leftover meat with her…”
this made me die laughing, oh my God. upside, she’ll be easy to spot while hiking, orange doesn’t blend so well with spring/summer foliage. 🙂
The tacos look delicious! I wish I had had that for dinner!
Wow those tacos look so colorful and delicious!!! I love putting salsa on anything and everything 🙂
Is Sadie a vizsla? She’s so cute 🙂 I wish my dinner would cook itself!
she is!
I missed that Sadie! What a cute little dog. She makes me miss my old beagle Ripper. I think the orange collar gives her a lil’ flair!
Yumm. Making tacos is probably my favorite meal.. It’s so quick and sooo delicious! 🙂
Those tacos are so pretty …I know how ridic this comment sounds but I’m loving the color combo 🙂
lol!! Poor Sadie. I’m not going to lie though, I would love to get my male dog a pink collar. Once they are fixed aren’t they actually uni-sex??
Sadie’s such an awesome dog. And look at those muscles- dannnggg!
i know! i always tell ryan i want sadie’s body.
This post totally cracked me up. My boyfriend and his dad would pull the same shenanigans. lol.
Somehow, the most simple meals turn out to be the most incredible!! we’re big taco fans in this household:)
Hahaha oh boyss. Sadie still looks cute rocking the rugged look.
Did Ryan keep the house clean and tidy as well while you were away?
he did 🙂
N’aww, that last pic is gorgeous!
New to your blog, btw, but I’ll definitely be checking in regularly now 🙂
You may have just inspired tonight’s dinner! x
Those tacos look fabulous! I need to give your Crock Pot Chicken recipe a try! 😀
Sadie looks so cute though, orange collar or not 🙂 I would have gone with a fushia pink one though, girsl will be girls 😉
I love me some crock pot. And as a Clemson girl, I love me some orange too!
Goodness, he could’ve gotten her a neon PINK collar. She would look like a girl AND would glow in the dark. Compromises!
Haha! What a bright orange collar! That is too funny! I love crockpot chicken tacos! So quick and easy to prepare! 🙂
I can totally relate to the “doggie fashion” issues. My boyfriend is bound and determined to get my sweet doberman a spiked collar to make him look tough. I hate the idea because it perpetuates the stereotypes that dobes are mean, aggressive attack dogs when the reality is that he is a big baby.
For your chicken tacos you’re talking about, do you prepare them the exact same as the ground chicken with 2/3 cup of water? Also can you put the chicken breast in frozen?
I truly love your blog.. Pleasant colors & theme. Did you develop this site yourself?
Please reply back as I’m looking to create my own personal site and would love to find out where you got this from or just what the theme is called. Thanks!
