Yesterday ended on one heck of a fun note. Not only did my sister come in town for the night, but Sadie got to try out her brand new kiddie pool!
She had the best time!
We weren’t sure Sadie would even get in her new pool because she’s really funky about the pool at my parents’ house and our new outdoor pool, but apparently a kiddie pool is much more enticing.
She would jump in the pool and lay down to cool off after getting hot from several rounds of fetch.
And yes, Sadie pees in the pool.
Don’t try to pretend like you didn’t when you were her age.
Dinner
Pool playtime lasted right up until my sister arrived in town from her weekend in Gainesville and it was time for dinner.
We copied our flatbread pizza idea from two weeks ago and made top-your-own flatbread pizzas for dinner using FlatOut flatbreads as the crust.
I went a more traditional route and steered clear of BBQ chicken pizza this time, instead favoring typical pizza toppings including fresh mozzarella, spinach, basil, red onion and portobello mushrooms.
Delish!
We spent the rest of the night sorting through more moving boxes, lounging and eating freshly baked oatmeal cookies.
I made the cookies a lot like my brown sugar wheat germ cookies, but incorporated oats into the batter as well.
Today
Today Ryan and I awoke bright and early to sneak in a workout before the craziness of the day set in.
We headed to the gym and began our workout with 20 minutes on the elliptical before splitting up to complete our separate strength training workouts.
My workout included three sets of 15 repetitions of several different supersets:
- Superset One: Step ups, Front shoulder raises
- Leg extensions
- Superset Two: Deadlifts, Upright row
- Bicep curls
- Superset Three: Chest press, Tricep dips
- Tricep pulldowns
- Superset Four: Exercise ball crunches (50), Overhead press
Breakfast
Once we arrived home from the gym, we (with the help of Sadie) tackled my sister to wake her up for breakfast.
Egg, cheese and jelly bagelwiches for all!
Now it’s time to head out for a family walk with Sadie.
Happy Labor Day, friends!
Sadie is the cutest! She looks like she is having a blast in the kiddie pool.
Have a great day, Julie! 😀
I’m pretty sure more adults than children pee in the pool anyway 😉 Sadie is TOO cute haha!
Seeing that bagelwich makes me think eggs are going to have to be on the menu sometime today!
I wish our dog Zeke liked water! He will go in at the beach until his feet won’t touch or he starta floating then freaks out and won’t go back in. Poor guy!
Kiddie pools are the best! I’m so jealous. They don’t require the effort like cleaning a big pool and theyre perfect for drinks.
I am always in awe over how you do your workouts and write a blog post before most people are awake.
oh sadie what a cutie! 🙂 I love the kiddie pool idea!
Looks like Said is having a good time!: ) I love the Flat out pizza idea! I will have to try that out!
Haha Sadie looks like she’s loving her kiddie pool 😉
Our dog is SO weird about our pool, too. She’ll jump in after her tennis ball, but only if you throw it within two feet of the edge. And she refuses to go in the deep end. So strange.
I love that Sadie has a kiddie pool… I’m sure she’s in heaven! I’ve never tried jelly on an egg and cheese sandwich… something new to try 🙂
Yummm lots of delicious looking food in one post!
I had a kiddie pool as a kid, but my dog still uses it to this day! Haha 🙂
Those pizzas sound so good! I might make one on a pita for lunch! Thanks for the idea!
have a great day off!
I LOVE flatbread pizzas! And that Sadie is such a cutie – hehe. “pees in the pool”
Happy Labor Day!
Sadie is so cute!! Love the pool pics of her!!!
FLatbread pizzas are the best! I think tonight I will make one with some goat cheese, not sure what else ; )
I just got done looking up local Viszla breeders to visit and then you posted cute pics of Sadie! It’s making me SO impatient to get my puppy!! She looks so stinkin’ cute in the poolie 🙂
Sadie has to be one of the cutest dogs ever!
Sadie is absolutely adorable in the kiddie pool! She certainly seems to be enjoying the water. I’ve always thought it was interesting how some dogs adore the water, while others can’t stand it…oh the strange minds of dogs!
Thanks for the listing your workout- it’s given me a good idea for mine tomorrow morning!
Sadie looks so happy with her new pool! I love her happy face….makes me want a visla.
we have been toying with the idea of getting a baby pool for our pups!! after seeing how much fun sadie looks like she’s having, i may just have to take the plunge and buy one 🙂
she is in loooove!
Sadie is so cute in her pool!
She is too cute!!! My dog hasn’t ever been in the water I don’t think. I really want to try out that pizza idea. Great idea!
Sadie pictures make me so happy! Especially Sadie in a kiddie pool! My dogs love love love water of any kind!
Your pizza looks awesome! Unfortunately we can’t get Flat Outs here in my part of Ontario, but in October I’m visiting San Francisco for a conference, and even though I’m excited about the conference, I’m even MORE excited about raiding the local grocery stores for Flat Out wraps!
My dog loves the water, and at our lakehouse, she will dive headfirst in shallow water to pick up huge rocks. She is crazy!
I had a bagelwhich for breakfast too! hope you have a great labor day!
I need to get some of those flatbreads. I love flatbread pizzas! I can load up on veggies and avoid too much bread!
the pizza looks deliciousssss!
sadie is so cute in the kiddie pool.
I’ve had a FlatOut pizza four out of the last five nights for dinner. Love how convenient they are!
When my husband and I lived in FL, we bought a kiddie pool for our dogs, but we filled it with sandbox sand. Since we lived on the intracoastal, we didn’t have much of a backyard, and they loved to dig! I wish we kept it so we could fill it with water. Do you have a doggie lifevest for Sadie. Maybe she wouldn’t be so scared of the big pool with one of those?
we do have one for her! the weird thing is that she LOVES oceans and lakes and even jumps off my parents’ boat into the ocean but won’t get near the pool!
Wow, those flatbread pizzas look incredible! Thanks for the inspiration!
Aw! I love Sadie in the kiddie pool! That is such a good idea! 🙂
I had flat out wrap pizza this weekend too! I love it! It’s a great alternative to regular pizza!
Reminds me that scene in “grown ups” where they’re all peeing in the pool. Love it.
I think dogs are just like kids: give them a pool of water or a cardboard box and they’ll be happy for the rest of the day, haha!
Your oatmeal cookies look delicious!
I love using flatouts for flatbread pizzas!!!
Sadie looks so adorable in her kiddie pool!
Sadie looks so happy playing in that pool! How cute!
HAHA. I love that Sadie has a baby pool to play in – that’s honestly so great.
Those cookies look awesome as does that breakfast!
Happy Labor day!!! How cool that she has a kiddie pool! -I bet she is super stoked 🙂
Ah! Sadie is so adorable in that pool! And of course she has that tennis ball locked in tight! 🙂
I always use tortillas/wraps as pizza “crust” It is so much easier than making your own!! 🙂
Aw, Sadie is so adorable!! And I totally peed in the pool when I was little haha. That pizza looks fabulous….good thing you didn’t go with a hawaiian one!
Koda pees in the lake. She’ll actually run down to the water, wade in and squat. It’s hilarious 🙂
Hahha awwww I’m glad Sadie loves her little pool!
Layla pees in it as well and my other dog Miley won’t go in it unless there’s a toy in there.
Sadie looks like she loves her kiddie pool!! She loves her mommy for thinking of her. Gotta love Sadie!! 🙂
Have a beautiful day with your sis!!
Love your blog! 🙂 I’ve been reading it since March and it has really showed me that you can eat REAL & delicious food while staying in shape! Has your sister ever thought about starting a blog?
Sadie is so cute…. It makes me sick. love her like it’s my own pet really…
Awh that kiddy pool looks so perfect for her :)! It makes me want to get one for my dogs ha! Too bad if I leave it outside when I’m not home though they’ll tear it up.
