Since not one vegetable surfaced in my lunch yesterday, I felt the need to overcompensate by including a plethora of greens in today’s mid-day meal.
I made myself a huge salad including:
- Chopped romaine lettuce
- One chopped cucumber
- Roasted Brussels sprouts
- Fresh broccoli
- Sweet corn
- Goat cheese
- Rotisserie chicken deli meat
- Balsamic vinegar
I bought the head of romaine lettuce that I used in this salad two weekends ago, and it was still good!
Apparently buying your own lettuce and chopping it up yourself triples its fridge-life. Those packs of pre-chopped lettuce for salads in the grocery store go bad so quickly!
Second: Shamu
Tonight my dad’s company is hosting a work event at SeaWorld and I will be attending as his date.
I am excited to spend time with my dad and spend some time among the animals as well!
Growing up I wanted to be a dolphin trainer. Though I eventually decided to pursue other dreams, I still have a strong love for marine life and the ocean.
When I was in college, I actually interned in the marketing department at SeaWorld.
Sounds cool, huh?
Well, distributing hundreds of brochures to areas hotels in a Shamumobile isn’t quite as amazing as you might think.
Here is a picture of my wheels:
Fancy, no?
I would often forget I was driving such a ridiculous car until I would see people whip out their cameras to take a picture. Slightly embarrassing. 🙂
Question of the Afternoon
What was your first or most embarrassing job?
My first job was working as a lifeguard. My most embarrassing job was definitely driving the Shamumobile.
Hahaha that car is awesome! My first job was working at Friendly’s as a waitress and to this day I can do a mean scoop of ice cream.
care to come to florida & show me? 😉
Ha! My first job was a Friendly’s waitress too!! My arms used to get covered in the ice cream when I scooped it 🙂
I love the Shamu mobile! I always wanted to be a dolphin whale trainer too.
My first job was a Target cashier, haven’t had an embarrasing job.
Hahahaha, I kind of wish I had that car just for kicks. First/worst job was at a breakfast diner throughout high school. I spent hours (HOURS) scrubbing maple syrup off of menus and telling people there would be an hour long wait for a table. No fun.
Oh my does that car stand out! Secretly, I’ve always wanted to drive one of Best Buy’s Geek Squad cars for a day.
That car is priceless. I’d snap a photo of it, too. My first job was working at a bakery. The 5 am weekend mornings were torture!
The work event at Sea World sounds fun! My first job was working at Target. It was slightly embarrassing because all my friends would come in, but it was a pretty fun job.
Hahahaha that is a ridiculous car, too funny. I used to have to give tours of my college campus, I was usually hungover so that was pretty embarrassing.
i was a tour guide in college, too!
i never really had an embarrassing job! (thankfully…i was THISCLOSE to have to be a grocery store clerk which i was NOT excited about!)
I worked at Donatos Pizza all through high school. I even was a pizza delivery girl!
I think that started my love affair with pizza 🙂
That salad looks GOOD!
I haven’t been to SeaWorld since I was little. How fun! Enjoy!
Jenn
Hmm roasted brussel sprouts, just can’t get there.
What a fun day!! My oddest job was being the NBC Peacock mascot, oh yeah that’s a hot job
Haha, the shamumobile looks cool to me!! 🙂 I loved Sea World when we went. I was obsessed with Shamu and had a stuffed one that I wouldn’t let out of my sight!! Anyway, have lots of fun tonight!! 🙂
I would totally drive that car!! =)
Most embarrassing job was in high school – I worked at this tiny asian restaurant where we had to wear ties…yes I’m female. 😆
Killer whales and dolphins have always been my favorites. I cannot tell you how many papers I wrote in high school and college on them. LOVE them.
I’m glad to see you got veggies, I still can’t find spinach. Is there a shortage that I’m not aware of?? What’s going on??
My first job was at a bookstore. I loved it!
my first job was a carhop at sonic! oh yes. it was SO MUCH FUN!
I’d love to drive that car! My first job was at Wet Seal!
Working at AMC in Downtown Disneyland. The concession stand wasn’t that bad, but when I had to clean the theaters after a screening of Shrek with 500 children in the audience…ya, not so fun! Not to mention the horrendous looking uniform I had to wear and clunky doc marten shoes! Needless to say, no one will ever find a picture of me during those times! Haha
haha that is SO COOL!!! ive always wanted to go to sea world!!
i feel on on the veggies! Im the SAME way..i CRAVE them the next day!
My first job was working at The Gap…I made absolutely NO money because I spent it all on clothes!!! haha!
Your salad looks FAB! 🙂
My first job, which I often forget, was working at the snack bar of a bowling alley, hahaha. After that, I was a cashier at a grocery store which I was SUPER psyched about…I always loved pretending to scan things! Yes, it got old quick 😉
you look like a natural dolphin trainer!! and your salad looks awesome… i’ve never thought to put roasted brussels sprouts in a salad but i love them so i’m def doing that next time!
my first job was working as a product/event promoter in the middle east. it was actually kind of fun – i got to work in a vip tower at a formula 1 event and there were a few celebrities on the prowl so that was quite cool!
ps i’d be honoured to drive the Shamumobile! 😉
hahaha love the shamumobile! probably the funniest thing i’ve ever heard of for a job!!!!
love the pic of you – you seem like a natural with animals 🙂 especially sadie.
love the monstrous salad – one of my fav lunches to pack! cram in all those nutrients
Your post just made me laugh alot!! That car is hilarious.
Those pictures are really pretty.
Have a great night with your Dad 🙂
My first job was a waitress at a nursing home. I was 15 to 16 when I had this. The very first day I worked some old lady fell while talking to me, the ambulance came, and I never saw her again. I have sooooo many stories of that job but nothing tops when the fire alarm when off and some old folks came out in only their Depends!
Hahah that car rocks my world! 😀
My first job was working at Bruster’s Ice Cream. It was a really fun place to work but I got ice cream all over my arms & clothes! lol But who can resist all the FREE SAMPLES you want?! 😉
Too funny!!
I think out of everyone I had the worst first job EVER!! My parents thought I needed to have some work experience when I entered high school and my brother had worked there… so they made me too. I had to Work at McDonalds for like 6months. I didnt last any longer because I was in 4 different sports and I just didnt have time and I hated the grease and the smell of McDonalds… it was horrible!! 🙁
haha that car is awesome! i want to swim with dolphins one day! xx
that car is EPIC. that’s all there really is too it!
i’ve never had an embarassing job per se but my most unglamorous job was as a camp counselor @ an overnight all-girls YMCA camp. i had actually been a camper there for 6ish years so i thought it would be great…BUT i don’t think i slept a wink between all the homesickness and stomach flus that went around camp. needless to say, i didn’t go back to camp after that summer…
that car is awesome, I love it – haha I totally would’ve taken a picture though, if I saw it coming down the street.
Most embarrassing job – my first job was at a grocery store where I worked in the bakery and the fish department. The bakery was great (free sweets) but my parents/old roommates would always bug me for reeking of fish when I came home from shifts in that department, it was a little embarrassing. I did learn alot about fish though !
HA! I just saw this post and I LOVE it! You show your personality so much in these posts. I’m sure it was comforting to know people were taking pictures, but on the plus side, at least SeaWorld gave the car tented windows 🙂
Ha, I clicked back on this link from the National Running Day post…My first job was embarrassingly stereotypical. I worked at McDonald’s the summer after graduating HS and I hated it! Since then I’ve worked summer camps and now I’m a teacher…now those I’ve loved!
