Salads are better when…
- Someone else makes them for you
- They include at least four toppings
- They are colorful and vibrant
- The lettuce is hard to find underneath all the toppings
- They are BIG
Can you guess what I had for lunch today?
Around noon today, I took a break for a date with Ryan. We met up a Crisper’s for lunch!
I ordered the signature southwest salad that included tons of veggies and chicken.
My favorite salad topping was the roasted corn. It was seasoned with some lovely spices and I was quite a fan.
Since Ryan and I have a tendency to inhale our food, we hung out at Crisper’s for a bit once we were done eating, discussing plans for this weekend and cars.
Cars?
Car Talk
I’m not really a car person. I would’ve driven my teal 1994 Toyota Corolla forever if I could have which makes me a very boring person to talk to about “awesome cars.”
I think I surprised Ryan when I told him I saw a car I liked while on my morning walk with Sadie.
Check out this beauty.
Not too shabby, huh? I thought it looked awfully classy. I’m pretty sure that kind of class comes with quite a hefty price tag as well.
Plus, it reminds me a lot of the other fancy car I think is pretty cool.
The other two cars I like?
Smart car!
And the Toyota Prius.
Ryan said he wants me to drive a monster truck so I don’t get hurt since he worries about my driving abilities.
I say, nonsense!
But he could probably talk me into driving this beast…
Maybe not.
Question of the Afternoon
- What is your dream car?
- Do you like cars or is car talk lost on you?
When I was growing up I dreamed of owning a red Mitsubishi Eclipse! Now I don’t really have a dream car. I’m so boring.
Katelyn says
This made me laugh because I actually have a hot pink smart car! haha
peanutbutterfingers says
no wayyyy!!! that’s awesome!
Katie @ Raisins&Apples says
I LOVE salads that have more vegetables than lettuce. I mean, I love lettuce…but vegetables are much more interesting!
and car talk is totally lost on me.
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
I too love huge salads with tons of stuff (and veggies) piled on top. Yours looks delicious!!
I am not a car person at all…because of my dad’s constant talk about safety first with cars, I am all about safety features instead of what it ‘looks’ like. I like the look of some cars though, most of the Audi cars, the Acura MDX, the BMW z3 would be fun, any pink car I’d take (i love pink!!), and I like some of the infiniti models.
Sana says
Men are obsessed with cars anddd I could not care less!
Casey @ Pocket Full of Sunshine says
When I was younger, my dream car was a Jeep Tracker. Haha. I’m pretty sure they haven’t made those for a long time! I’m old. 🙂 They were very cool back in the day.
peanutbutterfingers says
are those the ones w/o roofs? i thought those were so cool!
Brittany says
Salads are my favorite. HAve you ever tried the summer salad at Crispers? I order it every time it’s so good.
I don’t have a lot of knowledge on cars but I definitely know which ones I like 🙂
I am dying for a range rover but I want to save it for when I’m a mom.
Right now I really like the hyundai genesis coupe in baby blue. So cute.
I’d be down for some sort of convertable too! Hey, I can dream.
peanutbutterfingers says
ryan ordered that salad as part of their “you pick two” deal and it was delicious! i loved the pecans!
Denise says
This made me laugh because I rode around in a 94′ Corolla for many years! It was that teal/blue/green color!
peanutbutterfingers says
i bet we had twin cars!! did it look like this: http://www.picturearchive.co.za/index.php/cms/contentview/action/view/frmContentId/36126/image/0/
Denise says
Yes, it is! That’s funny!
It was my first car…memories!
Christina @ Just Running says
Wow, my first was a ’92 Corolla mostly that color teal.
Colleen says
I am eating a HUGE salad right now w/ about 8 toppings on it. I am a restaurant snob and prefer my own food (control freak, ha). I seriously think today’s salad would cost $25 in a restaurant–it’s really that good!!
I am a HUGE car person. I am currently driving my dream car–and am working 2 full times jobs to pay for it!! YIKES!
Danica @ GirlsThatRun says
I wanted a silver Mitsubishi Eclipse! I just bought a new car last year that I loveee, but if money was no object I’d be driving around in a white Porsche Panamera.
Hilliary @ Happily Ever Healthy says
My dream car is a Black Range Rover. Although I pretty much love my jeep liberty! I could see myself getting another jeep liberty sometime down the road!
Shelly @ Cake is a Food Group says
I really want a Lincoln MKZ or a Porsche Carrera. Neither of which are in my current price range. 🙂 Outside of the beauty I get pretty lost in car conversations. I don’t know anything about horsepower, engines, etc. Just the pretty looks!
Kate says
My dream car now is an Eclipse! When I was 16 my mom wouldn’t get me a car, but funny how 7 years later when my youngest brother turned 16 he got a car…an eclipse (a few years old, but still!).
When I was in high school my big dream car was a Toyota Camry…Yeah, I was the crazy one at our school 🙂
peanutbutterfingers says
i used to love the ford taurus. 🙂 i think we would’ve been friends.
Alysha @ShesOnTheRun.com says
My second car was a teal taurus station wagon. I was so happy when that thing crapped out!
Cait's Plate says
Oh my gosh that salad looks INCREDIBLE!!
My dream car is a Prius 🙂 And yes, I definitely feel like car talk is more or less lost on me! Haha
Alex @ Happicakes says
we are salad twins! and corn + black beans are my favee toppings!
and i have a thing for sporty four door black cars. i like to think they’re sexy 🙂
Lauren says
I really like that car too. Um, what is it??? LOL. Funny thing about me is, I have to like the “butt” of the car to think its a hot car. I think the butt is where its at. If I don’t like the butt, I think the car is ugly. LOL and also P.S. I LOVE huge salads and I make them all the time. Gotta have tons of veggies and colors and flavors and textures! That salad looks like one of my favorite kinds! There is a restaurant here that has a chicken fajita salad, so its grilled chicken and red/green bell peppers and onions on top of romaine, which tortilla chips around it and a dollop of guacamole and sour cream. Its awesome, especially with a bowl of chicken tortilla soup on the side!!
peanutbutterfingers says
it’s a jaguar kf or fk or something 🙂
Sylvia @ Frolic Through Life says
My dream car when I was in middle school was an Eclipse too. Great minds!
My boyfriend is a car fanatic so I get suckered into car convos very often, but as long as it has four wheels and drives, it’s fine for me. My bf wants me to get an SUV too.
Sweet and Savvy says
I LOVE salads that are made for me! 🙂
90% of the time, when I make my own salads I eat them and I am pretty apathetic towards them, but give me a good one at a restaurant and I am in heaven!
Gina says
In the parking lot at my college, I always see this one car because it stands out so much! A BMW z3: light pink with sparkles mixed in the paint (lol that’s what it looks like), I <3 PINK license plate, and darker pink convertible cover.
I like cars, thanks to my BF 🙂
My dream car is a Nissan GTR, but I'm fine with my Toyota RAV4! It's the perfect size, drives well, and doesn't cost an arm & a leg
Lauren @ What Lauren Likes says
That salad looks amazing! I love corn in salads 🙂
Stephanie says
My favorite cars are Audis…specifically the A5 and A6. They’re sporty, fast, and well-made. Too bad I could probably never afford one!
I grew up in a “car family” and my dad taught me a lot about them, but I’m not an expert by far!
Vicky says
Lexus ISF, Range Rover, BMW M6
LOVE LOVE LOVE
My dad is a car lover and my daddy/daughter time was going to car shows with him. So I grew to love cars also 🙂
Now the husband it a car freak also. Match made in heaven.
Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries says
I absolutely agree with you about the salads… I get bored with my own salads at home sometimes, and when I try to spice it up, it ends up taking longer than I want. Your salad looks very tasty!
I’m like you – not as much of a car person. For whatever reason, I know cars & trucks very well. It probably has something to do with the fact that I’m pretty observant, and I have quite a commute to work each day. Not only that, but my husband talks about them quite a bit. I currently have a little Mazda3, and I’m perfectly content with it until it poops out on me!
Grace says
Car talk is pretty lost on me. My boyfriend was asking me this the other day and I said my priorities are a heftier car with good gas mileage, back up camera and beeper, and a good safety rating.
Jeena says
When I turned 16, I wanted a new Toyota Celica. Do they even make those anymore?!?! Anyways, my parents decided to finally get one for me…but it wasn’t new by any means. It was a 1981 Toyota Celica and was brown! (Imagine this in brown: http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=1981+toyota+celica+brown&view=detail&id=3AE51A60E84D60BAD5BCF5F1F56BD3183AE64B99&first=0&FORM=IDFRIR&adlt=strict)
Needless to say, I about died! Their justification: “It’s a Celica, isn’t it?”
Silvia @ skinny jeans food says
Only dream car today is a Diesel or hybrid, because you wanna have some money left over for shoes!!
Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie says
Ohh that salad looks amazing, and those two black cars are so pretty! I’m a college student so I currently drive a really boring 2000 Dodge Neon but I would love to have a white Range Rover some day! And my completely unobtainable dream car is an aston martin vanquish. Its pretty much sex on wheels.
Heather @ Health, Beauty & Sweet Homelife says
I actually somehow stumbled upon talking the Lexus dealership into leasing me MY dream car for a pretty incredible price. Not really sure how that happened….well I do…a friend of a friend REALLY helped us out…but hey, I’ll take it! 🙂
I have a 2011 Lexus IS250 in Glacier white with a two-toned interior. MY DREAM in January? YES! Now? I love it but it’s a mess!!! Do you know how hard it is to keep a cream two-toned interior clean? More like a work car than a dream car…lol. Not to mention I drive like a grandma in it because I’m so afraid to wreck.
Maybe “dream” cars aren’t such a dream?! All I know is that when we start having kids the first thing I’m getting is a good ‘ol sedan with a BLACK interior…maybe a Toyota Prius! 😉
Debbie says
Don’t have a dream car? Pish posh little lady I bet there is something that you secretly like. I would love to own a BMW 330. I’m thinking silver…nice 🙂 When I was little, between 7-11 years old, my dream car was a Honda Accord.
Leslie @ Body Won't Break says
I’m not usually a fan of salads. I guess I feel like I want MORE food if I am going to spend the money to eat out. And lettuce always seems to go bad before I eat it at home. But that salad looks delicious!
And my dream car? Just about any Lexus or Mercedes or BMW will do please.
Although I do love my little Ford Fiesta. And my old Ford Escape – which my husband now drives.
Lexie says
Um, I own that exact smartcar. The blue convertible. I call him George Bush. 🙂
Stephanie @ LiveCookLove says
I had a 1999 green Toyota corolla with a spoiler on it! I had it through all of high school and college. Now my brother has it in college hitting up my old stomping ground. I tell him that if he just lets the car drive, she will know what roads to take all on her own. 🙂 but I have to say, I love the look of that sleek black one… Very classy indeed!
Olivia @ PeanutButterNerd says
I don’t even have a license, though I’m nearly 21. I just take the bus everywhere, or get driven by parents/friends/boyfriend.
Cars are SO not important to me.
Rebecca says
It loses me. But I still dream of an Audi Q7. Love them!
Yolie @ Practising Wellness says
Hahaha…car talk goes straight over my head – but I LOVE My toyota aygo! <3 It's so so cute, and very easy to park (incredbily important, my parking skills are minimal, lol! 😛
That salad looks delicious…I think salad is always better when there is hummus as a dressing, and it contains steamed vegetables, mixed lettuces, and avocado! <3 xyx
Emilia says
Totally agree with the salad statements, you’d think salad was hard to mess up, yet I seem to do so every time…*sigh*.
My dream car is most definitely a fiat 500, cream, with convertible top and automatic drive. I generally could care less about cars, except for that one! 🙂
Marie says
I never had a dream car…my dream car was just being able to afford my first real car on my own. 🙂 I love Hondas though and have not owned anything else.
BTW, it cracks me up that you and Ryan eat so fast. I am the complete opposite and used to get in trouble for eating so slow. Nathan’s family teases me about how slow I was and how I was still prepping my food when they looked up from their empty plates. Nowadays, as a mother, though, I eat at a normal person’s pace. 🙂
Tia says
My mother in law actually has that Jaguar! Her’s is a purple/blueish color though 🙂
I love cars so maybe I’m the odd one out, grew up fixin’ them with my dad. I drive an 09 Cadillac CTS-V, super fun car. And I have a Chevy Tahoe for crazy northern Alberta winters!
I LOVE big salads! Always get a kick out of the Seinfeld episode where Elaine tries to order her big salad and can’t get one hahah!
Alexis says
I wanted an eclipse for years! Now I would want an Audi if I had a choice. Sexy baby! But I drive a corolla and it’s reliable and good gas mileage. Works for me!
Geneva says
My first car was also a ’94 corolla except mine was an odd purple/mauve color. If it hadn’t died I would still be driving it today. I’m completely lost when it come to car talk, but my dream car would be an infiniti g37 I just like it because it is a hard top convertible.
lauren says
I love big salads with tons of toppings, but sometimes I go crazy and the flavors don’t really go together – that’s why restaurant salads are great, they know what they are doing. I usually feel like a piggy since people always comment on their size and then I go and eat the entire thing 🙂
I don’t know much about cars, but I wanted a purple eclipse in high school…I ended up with my parents old ’87 Ford Taurus : I’ve been driving a ’99 Solara for the last 5 years and I love it. It’s in mint condition and nobody can ever believe it’s that old!
Carolyn says
I LOVE big salads … especially when someone else makes them.
And, I LOVE cars. Ironically, I walked by a very similar looking Maserati this morning and made a mental note of it being one amazing car that would be on my dream list.
Ty says
The first car I bought was a silver ford mustang. I haaateeee it. I don’t know what I was thinking when I got a car with 2 doors and a tiny back seat.
I’m going to buy a FOUR DOOR Honda or Toyota next. I’m all about the reliability and the ability to cart people around.
If I could afford the gas money I’d get a van. Or maybe even a bus. That would be awesome.
In terms of looks the Scion TC is my favorite. I dunno why. I’ll never own one though cuz… again… only 2 doors.
Casey @ Justin's Nut Butter says
I’m perfectly content driving the nut mobile! Though that smart car looks like fun too!
Michelle @ Yoga Health for Life says
Yay for you liking eco-friendly cars! The planet loves your taste in cars even it car buffs don’t! If I could afford both a Smart Car and a Prius, I would buy both! But if I had to choose, Prius all the way since I like to take adventured around Florida and need more room to pack beach gear and camping supplies. That Maserati is a dream, but the eco-friendly cars have my heart : )
Gen says
That salad looks pretty incredible!!!
I’m not really much of a car person either……hahaha
Rosa - Fitness, Food, Fulfilled says
I love cars and I like the new ones that look like old ones. The Charger is one of my favorites right now. I’m also big into the sporty Mercedes. Of course, since I’m married with a kid, I think I”ll have to stick to sedans and SUVs until the kids are out of the house. It’s still nice to dream though.
Joelle (On a Pink Typewriter) says
Ugh car talk is completely lost on me.. I only care if it drives, and seat heaters are a nice bonus. 😉 As for models, I’m boring and usually lost.
Lauren @ Sassy Molassy says
Ha, this is hilarious. I actually am STILL driving my 1995 Corolla that was owned by a 90 yr old couple before me. Needless to say, it hadn’t been used much before I got it. I’m hoping the car will die on me soon so I have an excuse to buy a newer/safer/cuter car. 🙂
My dream cars would be: Lexus, Volvo or BMW SUV or an Audi wagon (for family) or sedan.
But in reality, I’ll probably buy something that’s a bit cheaper and in line with my budget as well as fuel efficient. That’s the one great thing about Toyota Corolla’s…30+ miles per gallon.
Jessi B says
There was nothing I wanted more growing up than a Mazda Miata. That car was the bomb diggity. Nothing cooler…now I see more 60+ men driving them than anything else.
Hope says
That salad looks delicious! Salads are better when someone else makes them for some reason. Why is that? 🙂
My dream car would be a luxury SUV. I have an suv right now and I don’t think I could ever go back to driving a car.
