When I got off work this evening, a super-fun activity awaited me.
Laundry! Please note that nearly all of my laundry consists of gym shorts, sports bras and workout tops. I mean who needs to wash work clothes?
I’ve been making a bigger effort to do small loads of laundry more often rather than save a ton of it to do once a month. So far it’s working quite well!
As I folded laundry, I snacked on one of my latest favorite foodie finds.
Annie Chun’s seaweed snacks. I first tried these when I found them in my parents’ pantry back in January. Ever since then, I’ve been obsessed!
I know these snacks likely gross a bunch of you out, but if you like sushi, you should give them a try!
Sadie loves ‘em.
I love watching her eat them because they get stuck on the roof of her mouth and she maneuvers her tongue in the most awkward way to get them off. Muhaha!
Dinner
I think the seaweed snacks triggered a craving for Asian fare, because when I headed into the kitchen to make dinner after a quick walk with Ryan and Sadie, an Asian sesame shrimp salad sounded perfect.
I made his and hers entrée salads that included:
- Romaine lettuce
- Cucumber
- Red pepper
- Sugar snap peas
- Shrimp
- Kraft Asian sesame dressing
One the side Ryan and I each enjoyed half of a honey wheat sandwich thin topped with peanut butter, banana slices, honey and pumpkin pie spice.
Bueno!
Time to prep tomorrow’s lunch.
See ya bright and early in the morning!
Love those things!! Trader Joe’s makes them too. They’re weirdly delicious crumbled into salads!
I was so excited to try some seaweed snacks because I’ve seen them on a few blogs, so I finally bought some at Trader Joe’s. I didn’t like them at all, but my dad loved them!
I can’t imagine saving it all for once a month – that is seriously impressive! I HATE doing laundry though so it might be worth it! 🙂
I still haven’t tried seaweed snacks but I’m very eager to now that I’ve read your rave reviews! My laundry looks just like yours – pretty much all gym clothes… and endless pairs of socks!
this is perfect. I have been looking for something to do with the frozen shrimp i have.. and i think i have that dressing!
Seaweed snacks are sooo good! I wish I could buy them in bulk 🙂 Your salad looks good too…I love shrimp.
Me too! They need to sell megapacks!
Ohhhh I’ve seen something similar to that at TJ’s… I’ve always wanted to try ’em! I like stuff like that.
Also, don’t you just love doing a few chores after work everyday ?!! It makes the weekend SOOOOO much more enjoyable… you’ll notice suuuuch a difference! It’s great 🙂
I had peanut butter and banana for dessert last night… Forget breakfast, it’s my favorite new after dinner snack!
I’ve seen those at TJ’s but didn’t buy them — now I see them on blogs all the time!
Oooh those seaweed snacks look scary but worth a try.
My laundry also consists of all mine and my husband workout clothes.
I’ve been wanting to try seaweed snacks for awhile! I seriously need to plan a road trip to Trader Joe’s!
Random thought- I’m seriously jealous of your sports bra collection! Mine are all white & boring 🙁 haha
Have a good night!
Wow! I am really glad I looked at this post–I need to fold the laundry currently sitting in my dryer! 😉
That salad looks really good. I feel like I could eat another dinner looking at that!
Yum!!! We had shrimp salad too. I have been trying to do the same thing with laundry too… otherwise it adds up to a full day of work! Have a good night!
I just found those snacks too… only I got mine at Trader Joe’s. I literally went through a whole package yesterday! Sooo good. Kinda remind me of Kale Chips!
Trader Joe’s sells the seaweed for $.99! It is so delicious, I like to call it “college budget sushi” 🙂
Trader Joe’s sells seaweed snacks for 99 cents – I feel like I need to break down and finally try them!
I have been craving shrimp… You just made me crave shirmp more. :O
Those seaweed snacks soooort of taste like kale chips!! I LOVE them =)
LOVE seaweed snacks. It took a few for me to get over the fishy taste, but then I couldn’t stop eating them. I stock up when I’m at Trader Joe’s. =)
Hahaha, she likes seaweed too?!
Yes! She’s a total nut job!
Where did you buy those seaweed snacks? I live in the Orlando area too.
The Winter Park Whole Foods.
My Sundays are laundry days, so I feel your pain! 😉
I love seaweed. 🙂 Never tried those seaweed snacks though!
never had seaweed snacks before… may have to give them a go!
I hate doing laundry! I always feel like I should buy more gym clothes because I seem to go through them like crazy!
I love roasted seaweed! In high school, my family hosted foreign exchange students and one of them was from Korea. I now love Asian food and my friends from college from Korea tease me that I am sometimes more Korean then them in what I eat 🙂 I have never had roasted seaweed by itself. I always have eaten it with rice and some sort of spicy dish.
Laundry once a month?? I have two do it twice a week now, bc once a week it was getting too full! Even though mine is full of nike shorts and tshirts hah.
Great idea on adding pumpkin pie spice! I gotta try that on my sandwiches!
the intensity in sadie’s face in the first pic of her is amazing. haha. i think she’s my favorite blog dog. 🙂
I turn to my fiancee and say, “You know what sounds good right now? A PB and banana sandwich with some cinnamon on top?” However, we already had dinner and dessert. Instead I visit your blog to try and distract myself from the sandwich I don’t remotely need. What do I find…
SO….seaweed snacks–is that just baked nori paper?
We did laundry this weekend. I think we had roughly 30 pounds. You know it’s bad when you have to start buying new unmentionables because every single pair you own is in the hamper. Sad, but true story.
I think so! I’m really not sure though.
I had shrimp for dinner tonight too!
My coworkers from China eat seaweed all the time but I’ve avoided trying it. I need to overcome the fear!
I actually kind of love doing laundry. Is that weird?
Call me gross, but I don’t wash work pants every time I wear them, I wash them every 2 or 3 wears. I don’t sweat in them or anything and not washing them helps them last longer and not stretch out as much.
I’ve tried the seaweed snacks before, I just can’t make myself like them. At least I tried 🙂
Love the seaweed snacks!!! My favorite is the wasabi flavor!!!
I put some of the pumpkin pie spice in my vanilla yogurt the other day at is was magical. It really tasted like pumpkin pie!
Blech! You’re braver than I am! I’m not the biggest fan of sushi so it’s safe to say that I don’t think I’d like seaweed snacks 😉
Great idea for the pumpkin pie spice addition to the already fab cinnamon, pb, and banana sammy. That’s gotta be the jam! 🙂
It’s so funny seeing you and Gina calling them “seaweed snacks”! Since I am Korean I eat seaweed all the time. It’s good on its own but I usually eat it as a small meal with rice, sometimes with a little lunch meat inside to balance it out.
I bet you can get it way cheaper (than say the regular grocery store) if you went to an Asian market.
But did you know those are actually the precut kind? You can buy it even cheaper in sheets. We cut a whole pack ourselves and put them in a container on the counter. ENDLESS MUNCHING!
Hmm. These snacks look intimidating, but I do love me some sushi. I may have to check them out.
I have tries seaweed snacks before that I found at Trader Joe’s. I did not like them at all. But then again I don’t like sushi either.
Most of my laundry is sweaty workout clothes, too! I do wear normal clothes, I promise, but they must never get dirty. Do you use a special sports-type laundry detergent?
Nope! We use Purex… aka the cheapest stuff we can find.
I need to start using spices more! Pumpkin pie on PB and bananas…mmm!
I’m with you 100% on the seaweed snacks (they taste good with peanut butter by the way..or like peanut butter microwaved with soy sauce as a dip)
I have written numerous posts about them and have created my own…
I get mine from my local Korean store and you save 100%.
One of those snacks from Whole Foods runs about $1.50 or something and I can get 14 packs for $3.
Hmm..that asian salad sure does look good.
Don’t know about the seaweed snack though. Haha.
I buy 2 100sheet packs of full size Nori Seaweed sheets a week, and fold them up (the sheet) into 4s, and dip them into salsa like chips. It’s a bad bad addiction. I also eat them with every dinner and tear them up into 6pieces per sheet, and use them a mini wraps for every bit of my dinner. SO yummy!
Those seaweed snacks are excellent! I’m living over in South Korea and often you’ll find them at bars with a side dish of soya sauce to snack on with a beer. I love that its catching on over in North America! Next will be kimchi… you should give that one a shot.
oh my goodness, I love love seaweed snacks! My husband and friends think I’m carraazzy, but I just can’t get enough.. I keep pushing them on my peeps hoping to find someone else who likes them 🙂
I think I would love those snack!
I hate doing laundry, really really hate it. I would never do it, but I don’t have so much clothes 😀
I love roasted seaweed! I always crumble it on top of veggie+noodle stirfries! Adds a sushi flavor to the meal, which i love!
Your sandwich thin is making my mouth water. I don’t eat nearly enough peanut butter and banana combos.
