Our first full day together kicked off on Friday morning with a brunch date at our favorite breakfast hotspot in Davidson.
(For the Instagram inquiries: I got my jacket a few years ago from Off 5th *the brand is 5/48* and I couldn’t find it online anymore, but this one and this one look similar! My sweater, scarf and Tart Kacia beanie are from Stitch Fix, and my Marc Jacobs purse was a Christmas present from Ryan last year. Leslie’s jacket is INC from Macy’s and her earrings are from Francesca’s.)
We ate at Toast and Ryan was able to join us on an early lunch break from work. He actually headed to Raleigh after work on Friday for a surprise birthday party for one of his childhood friends, so he was happy to have the chance squeeze in a little quality time with Leslie at brunch, too! After we were done eating omelets and sipping hot coffee, Leslie and I walked around Davidson and I took her in some of my favorite little shops, including the one where I bought my beloved pig painting.
They always have the cutest stuff!
Leslie and I had such a great time running around town and eventually came up with a game plan to finish up a craft project she was working on before grabbing dinner. But first, a furry little lady needed some attention!
We bundled up and took Sadie on a three-mile walk at a local park.
Leslie could not get over the changing leaves and I couldn’t help but feel grateful she was able to visit during this beautiful time of year.
Sadie wasn’t nearly as into the gorgeous scenery as we were because there were sticks everywhere! She was awfully excited when she stumbled upon a gigantic stick that we used to play a few rounds of fetch with her on a sandy beach by the lake.
After our walk, we came home and changed before heading out for a delicious sushi dinner at Eez.
It was tasty but a bit pricy, so we decided to grab a pint of ice cream on the way home rather than order dessert at the restaurant. (I told Leslie she had to try my favorite Can’t Tell Me No Cookie Dough ice cream and she said it was the best cookie dough ice cream she’s ever had. It’s so good!) The minute we walked in the door, we changed into our pajamas and curled up on the couch with our ice cream to watch a movie. It was an ideal Friday night in my eyes!
Now I’m heading out to teach a barbell strength class, but I’ll check back in with you guys later this afternoon. I hope you had a fantastic weekend!

I LOVE the changing leaves this time of year. Really makes you stop and take a moment to appreciate your surroundings because it’s so hard not to be distracted by all the natural beauty!
Looking forward to seeing more of your house tour posts!!

You have to try Jenni’s ice cream if you haven’t yet!!! Specifically the brown butter almond brittle flavor. SO so good.
Julie says
Where do you buy it!?
Christa @ Living Unbalanced says
Target!
Heather @ Housewife Glamour says
Love the Stich Fix items! So glad you got to have some QT with your sister while the weather is still nice. It’s snowing up in our neck of the woods already! Crazy. Happy Monday 🙂

I love that you and your sister are so close!! I’m like that with my brother but, unfortunately, his job in the navy means he likes about 15 hours away! I’m excited to see him at Christmas!
The fall season looks gorgeous there! We already have snow here! Lots of it!
skigirl0891 says
Sushi!! You have me heart 🙂
Those Sadie pictures are soo stinking cute!! I love the fall look, and when you hold her its soo cute because she is so big, but looks like she wants to be held all the time!!
Julie says
She’s such a Velcro dog! Whenever we put her down after we’ve been holding her, she just paws at us and wants us to pick her up again. It’s ridiculous!
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment says
Great weekend! Glad you got to spend time with Leslie.
Natalie @ Never Serious Blog says
I love both of your looks, too stinkin’ cute!

You both look beautiful! And Sadie is so funny with her stick. 🙂 Changing leaves are beautiful! Unfortunately ours are gone here in Wisconsin and have been replaced with snow and below zero temps …
Jen Rawson, RD (@PrettyLilGrub) says
Glad you spent some time with your sister. Moving away from my sister was super tough because we’re super close. So I definitely cherish those weekends together.
Brynn says
Sister time is the best! Mine just moved back from Chicago and I love having her around. Sisters have a special bond!
Michelle Hunt (@PeachyPalate) says
Sounds like the perfect day!!! Wish I had a sister 🙂
babystepsandmommymoves says
I’m pretty sure that “stick” is more like a “branch”. That thing is huge in her little mouth! lol. 🙂
I’m so jealous you still have such gorgeous leaves. We had a lovely couple of weeks of fall here in MI, but now all the trees are bare already and our highs this week aren’t going to reach 30 degrees! I already have to put a sweatshirt and a winter coat on my beagle to go outside!
Nicole @ Runs & WODs says
What gorgeous pictures!! Glad you had a great weekend with your sister!
Anele @ Success Along the Weigh says
What a great day with your sister and pup! I can’t believe how beautiful it still looks for Fall there! Today we got covered with a beautiful layer of snow but most of the leaves were already gone except on younger trees. Enjoy the beauty!
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
So glad you cute gals had a fun time together! Sister time is always so fun. And wow – it sure does look beautiful around there! I just love all the beautiful fall colors. I’m intrigued by your barbell strength class you’re teaching, Is it somewhat similar to BodyPump?
Julie says
yes, but we do use free weights, too! i am in charge of the formatting and try to make it somewhat similar to bodypump in that we spend one song on each muscle group — but sometimes it’s with the barbell, dumbbells and bodyweight exercises. 🙂

Looks like you had an awesome weekend with your sister! Sadie is just too precious, especially when people are holding her. Some girls just want to be princesses 🙂
aladygoeswest says
Hi Julie! It sounds like a fantastic time, but of course, left you missing her even more. I feel that way whenever I have family visit me in San Francisco from Florida. I enjoy it, but then I miss it! Oh well!! 🙂 Hope you have a great Monday. I’m teaching Les Mills BODYATTACK today!
Bethany @ Accidental Intentions says
Wow, your trees are so beautiful! Fall has definitely come and gone by now in Chicago, though we did have a lot of beautiful colors a month ago or so.
Alex @ get big, go to work says
I’m so happy you had a wonderful time with your sister. I can’t wait until mine comes to town for Thanksgiving; it’s like the ultimate girls day! I love sister time.
Christine says
Sister time is always the best! I’m a college student and I’m lucky in that my sister goes to the same school and only lives a few streets away :). SO jealous of all those gorgeous fall leaves! We don’t get many of those in southern California haha!
Angela @ HonestlyAngela says
Your photos are beautiful! It sounds like you and Leslie had a great time together. Sushi, ice cream and a movie + good company = my perfect Friday night
Sprinkles and Squats says
Looks like the perfect weekend to me! I’m also loving the changing seasons… I cannot wait for snow and the holidays! I’ve already been in full force decorating mode for weeks haha!
livitant says
If you like ice cream more than other desserts, you have to get some Jeni’s! It’s simple ingredients, and amazing flavors! If i have a pint of it at home, I’m definitely choosing that over a restaurant dessert!
Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona says
Sadie looks so funny with that long stick. Vegetarian sushi is my favorite!
Skinny Fitalicious says
Those pics of the leaves are incredibly beautiful! That is the only thing I don’t love about living in the desert – no changing of seasons. It’s just hot or cold. No in between.
Sarah @ Sweet Miles says
Sounds fun!! The leaves there are beautiful!!
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
Sounds like the perfect sister time! I’m super jealous of that sushi date though – I’ve been craving some good sushi!

I like so much about this post: the Stitch Fix adorableness, the quality sister time, the brunch location (Toast is just down the road, since we live in Winston-Salem) — so good!
