This morning’s workout was so much fun!
My sister, Leslie, arrived in town a little after 10 p.m. last night and was game for an early morning workout, so around 5:15 a.m., we headed to the gym to work up a sweat.
Ryan, Leslie and I began with 20 minutes on the elliptical before Leslie and I hit the weight room to do three sets of 15 repetitions of the following upper-body exercises:
- Superset One: Tricep dips, Ryan’s awesome shoulder move
- Superset Two: Upright rows, Tricep extensions
- Bicep curls (non-stop for 3 minutes)
- Chest press on exercise ball
- Superset Three: TRX bicep curls, Overhead press
We also threw some ab work in there and were feelin’ the burn!
While at the gym we had three different people come up to us saying they knew immediately that we were sisters. Leslie and I laugh because people either think we look so much alike or nothing alike at all. Apparently in our twin spandex capris and ponytails we looked alike this morning.
One thing is for sure… we have the same lame amazing dance moves.
I’ll never forget drunk dancing in a bar during my bachelorette party and looking over to see my sister doing the exact same moves. We’re a treat!
Breakfast
After the gym, we came home and each enjoyed a yummy egg sandwich and some corn Chex cereal for breakfast.
Yum!
We wanted to have a hot breakfast because the temperatures dipped into the 40s last night and Leslie and I wanted to take Sadie on a walk after breakfast with warm food in our bellies!
Since vizslas don’t have an undercoat, they’re very sensitive to cold temperatures, so we bundled Sadie up in her pink puffer vest before heading out.
It cracks me up how much this dog loves clothes. She literally places her paws into jackets and gets so excited when she knows we’re going to put her in a sweater or t-shirt. Maybe that’s another reason she loves the Thundershirt?
Our walk was cold, but fun. I loved having my sister to talk to… not that Sadie isn’t a riveting conversationalist.
Off to hang with my sister!
We have big plans for the day…
Happy Veteran’s Day!

I don’t think you and Leslie look a like. I think you look like your parents though. You look just like your dad and Leslie looks just like your mom so when the 4 of you are together I can see the whole family. But if yall were just out at the mall together I wouldn’t think yall were sisters. Did that make any sense?
peanutbutterfingers says
definitely did! 🙂 we get that a lot – that i look more like my dad and leslie more like my mom. 🙂
Hillary says
I was going to say the exact same thing, which is how it works in my family, too. I’m the spitting image of my dad, and my brother looks just like my mom. However, we somehow seem to look alike, too!
Aine @ Something to Chew Over says
Awww so cute! It’s great that you don’t have to wrestle her into her clothes 🙂
I love that the cake mix has ‘tunnel of fudge’ written on it!
Pamela says
My sister and I are the same way! People either think we look a lot alike, or not at all! We definitely have the same mannerisms, though. I am excited to see the outcome of that bundt cake mix! 🙂
Andrea @ Andrea Out Loud! says
Oh Sadie! She reminds me so much of Kona, probably because Vizsla and German shorthairs are so similar! They would be BFFs.
And for the record I definitely thnk you and leslie look so much alike! 🙂
Meg says
Double the dance moves, double the fun! Chicka chicka yeyeahhh!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
Girls day sounds like a blast – and looks like your plans will be delicious! 🙂
Hope says
I think it’s great that you and Leslie have such a great relationship! A sister bond is unlike any other. 🙂 Have fun today! I can’t wait to see how the cake turns out!
Tiff @ Love Sweat and Beers says
It’s awesome she likes her clothes. Then again, how could she not with such cute items??? 😉 Happy Friday!
Mary B says
My sister and I are 7 years apart (I’m older) and people stare at us when we’re together, and inevitably two questions come up: 1-are you sisters? and 2- are you twins? LOL. I love it, but of course my sister doesn’t. 😉
On a side note… I see you have The Pioneer Woman cookbook. I love Ree! I haven’t made any of her recipes yet, but I will soon and I love keeping up with her life on the ranch.
Can’t wait to see the outcome of the pumpkin/bundt cake!
peanutbutterfingers says
i’ve loved EVERY pioneer woman recipe i’ve made! they’re amazing!
and people ask me and leslie if we’re twins ALL THE TIME. it’s crazy!
KaraHadley says
I can definitely relate to the drunk sibling dancing. My brother and I act pretty different regularly, but get a couple of drinks in us and suddenly we’re exactly the same…including our *awesome* dance moves.
And Sadie’s coat is freaking adorable!
Khushboo says
This post makes me miss my sister! Like you & Leslie, we both love to work out together and are generally very close!
Tara @ Chip Chip Hooray says
Aww, this makes me miss my sister so much! I can’t wait till she gets back from her semester abroad so we can have sister dates like this one. Hope you two are having fun today!
Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries says
How fun! I wish my sis was close by to go to the gym with, go on walks, and bake!! Gotta love some good quality sister time.
Love Sadie’s little jacket – so cute!
Jessica says
I think you and Leslie look like twins! There is definitely a resemblance. I’m currently enjoying a dippy egg english muffin with raspberry jam… so good and inspired by you! 🙂 Have a great day!
Molly@ This Life Is Sparkling says
My sisters and I are the same way! Sometimes people think were twins, then other people don’t even think were related! Crazy how that works sometimes.
Sabrina says
First, I can’t wait to see what you do with that cake mix & pumpkin!
Second, my dog loves clothes too, but only inside. She wants it off before going outside.
Emily says
Hey Julie,
Where did you get that vest for Sadie? Does it have a fleece lining on the inside?
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
Tunnel of fudge? Could there be a more amazing tag line on a box of cake mix? Amazing.
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
You two do look alike!! And Sadie is adorable in that vest! Have a fun day with your sister!!!
kathleen @ the daily crumb says
oh my gosh that pink jacket is adorable!! my mom just bought our dogs fur vests (fake, of course) and they are just ridiculously cute. something about dogs in clothes is absolutely nuts… but just too funny to handle!
have a fun day with your sister!
Melissa says
What a wonderful way to start the day! Have fun spending time with your sister! Sadie is just too darn cute! I love her little pink coat!
Faith @ For the Health of It says
I’ve never tried dressing Haley up. I have a feeling she’d roll with it though!
Rebecca @ Miss Magnolia Muches & Moves says
Where did you find Sadie’s vest? It’s so cute and matches a puffy vest I have! Haha. I just bought my dog a vest at Target, but it’s more like a horse blanket on her?!? I would rather her have one that fits tight. And matches mine. 🙂
Claire says
I love group workout hangs, so fun! Ya’ll do look a LOT alike in my opinion! Great photo from the bachelorette party, how fun! Hope Sadie is keeping warm, it’s chilly here than goodness I woke up and Ty had turned on the heat 🙂
Joelle (On A Pink Typewriter) says
“Tunnel of Fudge?!!” I love it! Sounds glorious. And Sadie is soooo cute in that vest haha.
Amanda says
I love Sadie’s pink vest! That’s so unusual that she like to wear her shirts/vests. Mine is pretty tolerant as well, but most dogs are not a fan! My parents’ dogs get all weird when they have to wear their vests and won’t even make eye contact. haha
Becky @ Fit Chick on the Fly says
Awe, what a fun sister day together 🙂 Have fun! I love Sadie in her outfits, where do you buy her clothes from?
I need to get jersey a sweater for these upcoming chilly south florida montha LOL… her coat is very similar to Sadie’s because she has some pointer in her.
Jamie @ Don't Forget The Cinnamon says
It’s the same thing for my younger sister and I! I personally don’t think we look anything alike but one summer, we worked in the same restaurant and so many people thought we were twins!
Paula says
You and your sister are so cute!
Those 2 ingredients you posted totally read my mind! I’ve been googling like a crazy woman to find a recipe that combines chocolate and pumpkin. I’m going to attempt some kind of chocolate pumpkin brownies…can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Brittany @ GOtheXtraMile says
I think you guys look exactly alike from what I can tell! That is hilarious that Sadie loves clothes. My dog gets pisssed if we put him in clothes!
Casey @ Pocket Full of Sunshine says
Aw how fun!! My sister and I are the same way—we’re twins, and she is absolutely my best friend. It must be nice for you to have her there—not that Ryan isn’t fun to talk to, but he’s still a boy :). Sometimes you just need your sis!
Nancy @ Beyoutiful Fitstyle says
Oh my goodness that vest is too cute! My pup tries to eat anything I put on her. Then again shes only 4 months old so she wants to bite everything in sight. ha. I will, however, still put her in a christmas tree outfit I found for Christmas time. evil, but cute, but so evil. ha.
Megan says
I LOVE that Sadie loves clothes! That vest is too adorable. My parents Yorkie hates clothes. He will nip at us if we try to put anything on him. So when I told my mom about the Thundershirt (their dog is afraid of everything) – she bought it and tried it out. And…it made him worse! Apparently it has the opposite effect on him 😉
Cara @ EAT. PRAY. RUN. says
Enjoy your time with your Sis. I have one sis as well and couldn’t think of a better way to spend my Friday than in the kitchen with her!
Cat @Breakfast to Bed says
In NYC during the winter, we have had problems with electrified sidewalks and dogs being electrocuted, therefore, our dog wears shoes in the winter. She hated it at first, but now she LOVES it. She struts.
Steph @321delish says
Tunnel of fudge? That sounds AMAZING!
Laura Katherine says
oooh my word. Sadie is literally the CUTEST dog I have ever seen. We have a labradoodle, and even though she HAS A undercoat she still LOVES clothes.. we got her a kiddie vest last Christmas for some awkward family photos 🙂
I had a question for you!! I am trying to spice up my workouts/train for my first half marathon. I started training for one last year but got peritoneal tendinitis(aka MISERABLE) and couldnt run for about 2-3 months.
What would suggest are some good workouts/training plans to get me back in ship shape and ready to run!!
Alyssa @ Life of bLyss says
please tell me you showed leslie my post last friday in which I used that exact picture and kindasorta stole her identity (actually, you may not have even seen it ’cause you were en route to your half) …regardless, you need to go look.
peanutbutterfingers says
LOL!!! i can’t believe i forget to mention it! i saw it AND my sister texted me about it. i got her hooked on your blog! 🙂
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
Oh my… a can of pumpkin and a tunnel of fudge… sounds like a party!! 🙂
Catherine says
Me and my sister, Becca, are only two years apart, but we get the same reaction! People either think we look just alike or they think we look nothing alike! I’ve got about two inches on her in the height department, and she’s about a billion times better dancing than me! Hahaha I love having a sister. 🙂
Theresa says
Sadie is too cute in that puffer vest…I also have to put a sweater on Nacho in the winter bc he shivers the moment he steps outside…chihuahuas are such babies about things though..he refuses to walk in the rain at all, actually…he’s terrified of it. he wont come out from under the bed when it rains. maybe I should try that thundershirt on him!
Lindsay @ In Sweetness and In Health says
You and Leslie are both so gorgeous!! And I don’t know if you look completely alike, but you definitely look like sisters! And I LOVE that Sadie likes clothes. That is so stinkin’ cute! My dog at home hates anything we try to put her in haha. Have so much fun with your sis today! I arrived in Florida last night and I’m loving the weather here!
Nicole says
They did a segment on the news in DC yesterday about whether or not thunder shirts really work! I instantly though of Sadie! 🙂
peanutbutterfingers says
what was the verdict??? i swear they helped sadie!
Nicole says
They were on the fence, they said it worked a little bit the first time, but maybe with extended use it would work better! Now my boyfriend wants one for his dog!
Annie @ Naturally Sweet Recipes says
Haha, this post is hilarious! My sisters and I are pretty much the same way. And your dog is so cute!
Maria@La_Piattini says
Aww this post just made me miss my sister so much! Luckily I get to see her tomorrow b/c we’re going to see Cirque du Soleil!
Rosa - Fitness, Food, Fulfilled says
Aren’t sisters fun? I always think I’m insane about things until I see my sister doing or saying the same insane things that I do. Love sistas!
Catriona says
My sister and I don’t think we look alike but people always tell us we do!
Whenever someone says something like “oh I can tell you two are sisters!!” I always think it would be funny to keep a completely straight face and say “we’re not” and see what happens… haha
Lena @ Fit on the Rocks says
My sister and I are progressively getting closer as we get older, so it’s good to see that you two have a great relationship!
Diana says
Haha OMG Tunnel of Fudge…that sounds amazing.
You and your sis are so cute! I still kind of wish I had a little sister – I’m stuck with two older brothers who are a lot of fun but certainly don’t share my dance moves! 😉
