Yup, it was a soup-for-lunch kind of day.
I slept in a bit this morning and didn’t pack my lunch last night. This meant I could eaither pack a good lunch or take my little stick-lover on a walk.
I think you know my decision.
So, I grabbed a can of Campbell’s Select Harvest New England clam chowder and an apple for lunch and called it a day.
Hey, at least it was clam chowder… my favorite soup! (Though my mom’s homemade chicken noodle soup has proven irresistible in the past.)
Slippery Shoes
For some reason when I put on a pair of tights and then slip into heels, the heels, that otherwise fit perfectly, instantly become too big and I’m left sliding around like a mad woman.
I decided to “tough it” and wear my tights with my heels to work today. Bad decision. I’ve been clunking around all day.
Apparently I need to get shoes with insoles that grip!
Oh the maladies of a working woman!

Tights shrink your feet. I have the same problem.
TP in the toe!

I have the same problem with work shoes, it’s so annoying. I spend the day worrying that I’m going to fall on my face.

I love soup kind of days. They make packing lunch super easy. I have the same problem when I wear tights with heels. It’s annoying. Maybe find an insole to put inside the shoe?
Katie says
Buy little rubber insoles for your shoe! You put them at the toe of your heel and they keep your foot from slipping forward when you wear tights. I buy mine at Target, and swear by them!
Carrie says
that happens with me too! the tights are so slick so i slip out of my shoes every step i take!
kristy @ kristyruns says
I wish I had this problem! Dressing up for work means not wearing jeans. 🙂 Those shoes are so cute!
Gavi @ GaviGetsGoing! says
I used to have the same problem until I bought the Dr. Scholl’s grip insteps for high heels (I write like an infomercial!). They fit perfectly inside my high heels and now my feet don’t slide around at all!
Anne @thefitbridesmaid says
For some reason, my shoes yesterday caused my socks to move around, and the heel would soon be around my arch. I don’t know if it was a sock problem, shoe problem, or user problem!
Victoria (District Chocoholic) says
Try these: http://www.footpetals.com/Heel%20Grips.html
They are cheap and I found a CVS brand version for like $4.

i’m actually just so thankful that i don’t have to wear heels to work…it’s all about the sanuks and tennis shoes in Boulder!

Clam chowder mmm! I had the best clam chowder in a bread bowl in San Fran a few years ago.
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
I have so many heels like that- they’re too small and hurt without tights..but they’re way too slippery with them!
Jen says
I’m glad I’m not the only one that this happens too!! I almost fell walking down the hall at church on Sunday from my feet slip sliding around!

Definitely try the Foot Petals Heavenly Heelz: http://www.footpetals.com/Heavenly%20Heelz.html
I swear by these in all of my high heels (and let’s just say I like them a little too much :-P) and sometimes if the shoe is not too well-padded, I’ll put in an insole (Killer Kushionz) and then I can walk in them for hours! And no I am not connected to Foot Petals at all, just love their products!

Sadie is so cute..you definitely made the right choice!
Ellen @ Cinnamonalicious says
Today was so cold that I wore a pair of tights under my jeans and 2 pairs of thick socks over them, so I had the opposite problem, my shoes were ridiculously tight on me! Haha!
That soup looks yum, just perfect for this weather too 🙂
Lea @ Healthy Coconut says
Oh I know the troubles of tights + heels. I almost caused a Workers Comp disaster slipping and almost hitting my head on a jumbo Rico copy machine.
Awww..the risk we take for fashion.
These are my lifesavers for work, going out all night dancing and for all my L.A.M.B shoes.

This is such a random question and I totally understand if you don’t want to comment!
Did you and Ryan get any pre-marital counselling?
I only ask because I’m getting married this upcoming August (!) and some people have asked me if its something I’m going to do. I know that you and your husband didn’t get married in a church but some couples still go get pre-marital counselling anyways. Just wondering your point of view. I see the good in it… however by the time we get married we will have been together almost 5 years and lived together for 2 years… so I don’t know if it is neccessary.
Again, I know this is random (& personal!) but I was just curious!
peanutbutterfingers says
we didn’t… but wanted to! unfortunately our church offered a weekly “marriage prep course” that conflicted with our schedule. i think it seems really neat and a great way to get to know each other even better… even if you have been together for a while! i’ve heard positive things from people who have taken courses!
Leanne (For Health's Sake) says
Thanks for the reply! I’m on the fence. I researched it a bit today and it appears you can even go to any psychologist/therapist because they are trained in a marriage prep type of course as well.
I think people should view it as getting a “tune-up” and talking about little things before they turn into big things! I’m all about learning to be the best me, and to have the greatest relationship you have to be open to talking right? 🙂
Thanks again for replying!
Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine says
I have that problem too…and the easiest fix is just wearing socks under your tights!! No one can tell they’re there (unless the tights are patterned or really sheer), your feet stay warmer and the extra bulk fills out the shoes. It works like a charm for me 🙂
Sam says
Hey! I recognized your smiling face in the January 2011 issue of Fitness magazine! Just wanted to say congrats and cute picture 🙂

Canned soups make such a great grab and go lunch option. And New England Clam Chowder…good choice!!
Sarah Elizabeth says
Someone already mentioned this, but you should definitely try foot petals! Tiffany at I am Stylish (iamstyle-ish.com) also swears by them!

I cannot wait to wear heals or flats or whatever kind of shoe I want to wear! In 2 short weeks, I will no longer be a nurse! Goodbye scrubs and sneakers! Yay!
Tess says
At most department stores, they will give you a little foam/rubbery insert you and adhere to the “walls” around the heel of your shoe. It prevents your heel from slipping out.

I was just having this same tights/heels issue this morning! Thank goodness it’s not just me… 🙂
