Today is what Sundays are all about!
- Church
- Cleaning
- Eating
- Baking
- Relaxation
Ryan and I went to the early church service this morning and on our way home, we stopped by the grocery store to grab some food for the week.
Ryan also wanted to grill out today, so we nabbed some hotdogs that he grilled when we got home for lunch.
I ate mine alongside some grape tomatoes and a clementine.
We then spent a good hour doing dishes, wiping down counters, vacuuming… all the usual pain-in-the-butt household chores that we neglect throughout the week.
When Ryan settled down to watch some football, I decided to do some baking!
I made a batch of snickerdoodle cookies (craving sparked by last night’s ice cream) and followed a recipe I found online that used cake mix as the base for the cookies.
Since we’re a huge fan of funfetti cake mix cookies around here, I figured snickerdoodle cake mix cookies would be right up our alley.
Oh my gosh they were so good!
Ryan and I both ate our bodyweight in cookies. Even Sadie was a fan and she usually only likes meat or cheese-based people food.
And speaking of Sadie and snickerdoodles, she’s pretty hopped up on sugar at the moment and we’re debating whether to take her on a nice walk or play frisbee in the backyard to work out some of her excess energy. Our laidback Sunday continues!
Those cookies look Great. I have been craving Chex Mix and Rice Krispie treats. I get my baking done on Sundays too.
Mumm, I could go for a cookie right about now!
Oh WOW. I want some!! These don’t look too hard, and they sound awesome!
I love Sundays too. Church makes it extra awesome 🙂
Ahahah ohhhh Sadie. Girl’s gonna be hopping all over the place!
Cake mix cookies have become our go-to, the yellow mix with chocolate chips is soo good, it’s hard not to eat the batter!
Sounds like the perfect Sunday!
My bf just looked over my shoulder as I was reading this and goes: “Mmmm. Snickerdoodle cookies. Let’s make these, like now.”
DONE.
Those look so fluffy and cute!
These look so soft and fluffy!
I’ve been loving the abundance of sweets lately!
Yum! I’ve had SUCH a sweet tooth lately!
Cake mix cookies have been my go-to recipes for years! So convenient and easy. A few years back I got a couple of recipe books completely devoted to cake-mix recipes – cookies, squares, bars, etc. Very handy to have when I’m called upon to bake something at the last minute!
envious of your laid back Sunday, I’m studying for a local anesthetic exam (always time for a break though:) )
Those look sooo good!! I love a good Snickerdoodle! Yum!
I made M&M cookies yesterday, and now I’m trying not to eat all of them in one sitting. 😉
Never have I thought of using cake mix for cookies….what kind of rock have I been living under!! Now I have to decide between the funfetti one’s or snickerdoodles. #toughdecisions
i love the sounds of your snickerdoodle cookies! right up there with basic chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodles are one of my favorites. i just made some red velvet cake mix cookies on friday – they turned out so yummy! enjoy the rest of your relaxing sunday. we’re doing the same over here! 😉
I made Fun fetti cake batter cookies today! They’re my husbands favorite!! 🙂
I love using those cookies and either toasting them/broiling until a little crispy, and mixing them into Greek yogurt, low fat ice cream, and topping with sugar free pudding! so good! adding sprinkles as great. Made them with funfetti and nearly died from deliciousness. Funfetti pudding cookies are the best! Try toasting them and adding them to ice cream/yogurt milk etc. tastes like brownie/cake sundae!
Omg! Love this idea!
I LOVE snickerdoodles!!!!
Snickerdoodles are my favorite! The bakery that made mine and Keith’s wedding cake made the best (size of my face) snickerdoodles.
Sounds like our Sundays! Gym, Brunch, Chores (that we also neglect all week!), hubby plays video games and I bake 🙂
I made cake mix cookies today too, i love them!
Afreaknmazing cookies, love live live, eating 500 of these bad boys!Lol!
Yumm those look awesome!
I am such a cake mix recipe junkie. So far my fav has been just adding pumpkin to spice cake–which I know you used to make cookies even! I like it with some chocolate chips as a cake, though, topped with buttercream or something like that and skor bits. My mouth is watering…
I’d been afraid to try using cake mix with cookies, but I’ve definitely made it with pumpkin loaves. It looks like it’s a winning combo, so it looks like it’s time to try.
Cakes from boxed mixes are amazing…can only imagine them in cookie form- yum!
Mmm, your snickerdoodles look perfect! Whenever I make them, they come out of the oven flat. Still delicious, but I’m thinking cake mix might be the best way to fix this problem.
I hope you were successful in helping Sadie burn all that sugar energy!
They look delicious, but Julie, dogs should not get sugar at all. They easily get diabetes, and they’re not built to process carbs (alhough they can process sugar). It’s just not good for them.:(
Ah I’ve been craving Snickerdoodle cookies like crazy and these look so fluffy and amazing! They don’t seem to exist over here in England so I’m definitely going to have to recreate these this week. Thanks for the recipe 🙂
Oh they absolutely divine! I wish I could have one or two right now!
I am so making those. I use BEst Choice cake mixes ALL the time–so good. and 2 for a dollar around here! Hugs–E
I LOVE snickerdoodles! Those cake box cookies look so good, I should try them with a gluten free mix and see how they turn out!
I wanted to try out this recipe but it calls for a 18.25 oz cake mix.. I see you used a 15.75 oz cake mix; may I know what alterations (if any) did you do to the recipe?? Thanks Julie 🙂
Just made these for my boyfriends birthday, and OMG is all I can say… SO SO SO good!
This sounds delicious! I love how quick and easy it is to make!
