I still cannot believe I am pregnant – let alone 17 weeks pregnant – and I can honestly say it was such a hard secret to keep over the course of these past 4+ months.
I know you guys have a bunch of questions about our special news and since I’ve already received a handful, I figured the best way to address them was a giant Q&A post. I do not plan to morph Peanut Butter Fingers into a pregnancy/mommy blog, but since this blog has always followed my life more than anything else, I am definitely planning to share a bit about my pregnancy and our little one moving forward.
Now let’s dive right in!!
Pregnancy Details // Finding Out
- How did you find out you were pregnant?
Okay, this story is a little ridiculous. In November, right after Ryan and I decided to start trying for a baby, I bought a ton of cheapo (but highly rated!) pregnancy tests on Amazon (25 for $14) because I knew the cost of pregnancy tests can add up quickly and figured buying a bunch to save some money would be a good idea. A few days after the time I figured I should’ve had my period, I took a test, but I took it incorrectly.
The test strips I bought were dip strips that require you to pee in a cup and dip the pregnancy test, but I figured that was mostly “advised” and that I’d see a result from simply peeing on the strip like a normal pregnancy test. (Um, no.) Anyway, I peed on the strip, saw nothing and figured I wasn’t pregnant. I did the same thing a week later when I still didn’t get my period, saw nothing and assumed I wasn’t pregnant. A few days later, when I still didn’t get my period, I figured I should actually take the time to dip the dang strip and do the test correctly. The positive line showed up immediately and I was shocked. I had absolutely no inclination that I was pregnant, let alone 6 weeks pregnant at this point. I truly could not believe it!!
- How did you tell Ryan?
I took the pregnancy test right before Ryan and I were about to go to bed. He was already in bed and when I took the test and saw the positive line show up so strong, I gasped and said, “Oh my gosh.” Ryan heard me and asked what was up and I said, “I think I’m pregnant.” We were both so surprised and when I showed Ryan the positive pregnancy test, he laughed because it was such a cheapo little strip and said we should really wait to get too excited until we could buy a more legit-looking pregnancy test in the morning. We went to sleep both sort of in this limbo mode of “Are we or aren’t we… I think we are…” which made sleeping rather difficult, as I am sure you an imagine.
I bought a pregnancy test at CVS the next morning, took the test (okay, two tests) in the CVS bathroom and our exciting news was officially confirmed. We were both so, so excited!
(The lighting in that pic is kind of weird, but the + sign was quite clear in person!)
- What were your first pregnancy symptoms?
At first nothing. I actually felt very nervous and anxious during the first week or so after we found out because I felt 100 percent normal and everything I read talked about how awful the first few weeks of pregnancy can be – lots of nausea, fatigue, etc. I actually Googled “pregnant without morning sickness” around week 7 and was relieved to see something like 20 percent of women feel fine and never experience nausea. I figured I was just one of the lucky ones.
HA. HA. HA.
Well, during the week of Christmas, about three days later, I was hit with my first round of nausea and it was pretty brutal. Ryan and I arrived in Jacksonville five days before Christmas and weren’t planning to share the news with my family until Christmas morning. This meant I had to hide daily nausea and puking for five days which was definitely not easy to do… especially when I went to the bathroom to throw up in the middle of a Jazzercise class I took with my mom and sister. Thankfully, right after puking, I almost always felt instantly better and eating all the time helped keep nausea at bay a little bit. It still blows my mind that I’ll find myself downing a sandwich 2.5 seconds after I throw up. Pregnancy nausea is so weird.
- What was your first reaction to your pregnancy?
Disbelief. Even though we “tried” that month, I still hadn’t really wrapped my head around the whole idea had absolutely no intuition that told me I was pregnant. I was so shocked and that feeling of surprise was quickly accompanied by a feeling I can only describe as nervous excitement. I’m still feeling quite anxious, but my nerves have mostly moved away from “oh my gosh we’re having a baby” to “please, God, protect our baby and keep our little one safe and healthy.”
- How far along were you when you found out?
Six weeks.
- How did your parents/family react?
On Christmas morning, we wrapped up ornaments I decorated for my parents, Leslie and Ross that said Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt and Uncle and had them all open them simultaneously once we were done eating breakfast.
It took them all a second to register what they were seeing (My mom thought the ornament was from Sadie at first! Ha!), but about five seconds later, we were greeted with excited screams, tears and hugs!
We told Ryan’s family when I next saw them in person during my trip to Sarasota at the end of January. I gave them the same ornaments and said they were belated Christmas gifts. Ryan’s mom hugged me, cried immediately and was so, so thrilled. It was such a special moment.
My grandma found out last week – that’s the real reason I drove to Raleigh! I was planning to tell her in person in Sanibel but when she was not able to join us on our vacation, my mom and I made plans to tell her in person soon after. Mimi’s reaction may have been my favorite! I wrapped up an ornament for her that said Great Grandma and she thought I was telling her she was a wonderful grandma (which she is)! When I asked her, “Do you know what that means?” She shrieked and threw her hands up in the air!!
It was so amazing and my mom, aunt and I could not stop laughing and hugging her!
- How did you tell your friends?
For the most part, I was lucky enough to be able to tell most of my very best friends in person! Since I traveled to Sarasota at the end of January and saw a bunch of my college best friends, I told them all that weekend – one by one, which was so much fun!
I told my best friends from high school about our news when I saw them in Chicago this past weekend. I wrapped up baby-themed candy bars and Hershey Kisses and gave them to them one at a time as well.
It was really hard to wait to tell my friends for so long, but knowing I could share the news in person served as great motivation to hold off. It was totally worth the wait!
Some of my girlfriends in Charlotte were the first to find out since it became a little obvious when I was no longer drinking at all! I also told a bunch of my close blogging buddies early on, too.
Baby Details
- Due date?
August 10, 2015.
- Will you find out the sex ahead of time?
YES. We actually already know!!!
- Do you have any feelings about whether you’re having a boy or a girl?
Ryan and I did a 3D ultrasound at 14 1/2 weeks where they were able to tell us the sex of our baby. I’ll be sure to give more details about all of this when I share this information on the blog soon! We still have a few more people we want to share the sex with in person/over the phone before I announce it on the blog, but I’ll share everything with you guys soon! We have our official 18-week anatomy scan next week where it will be confirmed again since 14 weeks is technically a bit early to tell, so I’m planning to share after that!
In the meantime, I’d love to hear your guesses!
- Any names?
We have one name that’s a current frontrunner, but since we’re not 100 percent sure, we’re keeping it quiet for a while.
- How long were you trying?
I feel very, very fortunate that we were able to get pregnant the first month we tried. I know this is a truly wonderful thing and it’s something I feel grateful for every single day. I went off birth control several months before we had a baby on the brain because I hated the way it made me feel. We were still actively preventing pregnancy up until November, but I think going off my birth control a while before we decided to start trying may have helped a bit.
- How many ultrasounds have you had?
Three! We had our very first ultrasound at 8 weeks and also heard the heartbeat which was incredible. I must say, before I got pregnant, I never really understood why people thought the fuzzy, gray pictures were so amazing, but the minute we saw our little one on the screen during our first ultrasound, I could not believe it and was so overwhelmed with emotion. Ryan and I were both blown away. He actually gave me a high five right after we saw the baby for the first time which is one of my favorite pregnancy memories so far!
We had additional ultrasounds at 11 1/2 weeks (the first time I saw the baby MOVE totally BLEW MY MIND) and our first 3D ultrasound at 14 1/2 weeks.
- Who do you think the baby will look like?
Ryan and I looked so similar as kids. We both had light eyes and almost white-blonde hair, so I picture us with a light-eyed blonde-haired little one!
- Do you want more than one?
Yes… eventually! Right now we are simply focusing on this baby and praying for a healthy little one in August.
- Have you felt the baby move?
I don’t think so. A week ago, I felt a weird fluttering feeling that was more intense than stomach gurgling. It was pretty noticeable but could also have been absolutely nothing. My pregnant/mom friends said that once I am sure I feel the baby move, I’ll likely know whether that was really the baby moving early on or not!
***
I’ll share Part Two of this post this afternoon that will address the following questions:
- Will you be sharing weekly pregnancy updates on the blog?
- How have you been feeling?
- Do you have morning sickness?
- Do you have any cravings?
- Do you have any food aversions?
- Weight gain so far?
- Have you experienced any crazy pregnancy-related emotions?
- Any mood swings?
- Any unexpected feelings or symptoms?
- How far along are you now?
- How has work/teaching been going?
- How do you think Sadie will react to having a little brother or sister?
Let me know if I am missing anything or if you have any additional questions you’d like addressed this afternoon!

Your grandmother’s reaction made me cry! She is the cutest!!! I still remember how adorable she was in your wedding video (longtime reader, hellllo! 🙂 ) and absolutely love it. I’m so happy for you and your family!!

Julie I am so excited for you! I have been reading your blog for years and I absolutely adore you. Please know how incredibly fortunate you are that this happened so quickly for you and Ryan. As someone who has been trying for 2 years and is now going through IVF, you are truly blessed beyond words to have had this happen one your first try. Don’t ever foget that. Best wishes to all of you for a happy and healthy pregnancy and little one! I can’t wait to read all about it!!!!

Thanks so much Julie. I appreciate all the extra prayers and baby dust. 🙂

I guess girl! When you posted a photo from last week at the musical I thought to myself Julie is definitely pregnant and definitely having a girl. i will be shocked if I am wrong. I am due in less than a week with my first and we decied to be surprised with the gender. I can’t wait to find out!! Good luck and congrats!
Caitlin says
p.s. i am 39 weeks pregnant and still cannot believe it! it’s such an amazing wonderful time – enjoy every second.
Julie says
you are so close!!! how exciting!!
Danielle says
Ahh CONGRATS Julie! I have been reading your blog for so long and have been wondering when we would hear this news. 🙂 Too funny about your sickness.. We had our first baby on August 9th of this year (I was due the 12th!) We found out I was pregnant in mid-December and then BAM two days before Christmas 2013, I got hit HARD with morning sickness. We were waiting to tell our families until Christmas morning as well (with ornaments too!) and it made it that much harder to keep the secret. I was awfully thankful this Christmas to be feeling “normal’.. and to have our baby girl with us to celebrate!
Julie says
Ha! Our stories are so similar!! Congratulations on your little one! <3
Christina says
Congrats on your happy news! That picture of your grandmother is absolutely precious!!! I’m a fellow Pure Barre lover (and trying to get pregnant with #2) and would love to hear how you plan to modify the various exercises (especially the ab work?) I know a lot of women have done Pure Barre throughout their pregnancy, but some of the moves seem a little….intense for a pregnant woman. Thanks!
Kelly says
You’re grandmother’s reaction is adorable! I love that she thought it initially thought it meant she was a ‘wonderful’ grandmother, too cute!
I’m predicting a boy 🙂
Again, congratulations to you, Ryan & Sadie!!!
Julie says
Her reaction was the best! I’m so happy my mom got those photos of her! I want to frame the first one (with her arms in the air) for the nursery. 🙂 And thanks for the sweet congratulations!
Elizabeth says
Congratulations! I absolutely adored your grandmas response. Enjoy every second it passes so quickly!
Dawn says
Very excited to follow along on this journey! I’m due with my first in September so you’ll be reporting a few weeks ahead of me! It happened the first time we tried as well, pretty amazing. Such amazing news, congrats!
Julie says
congratulations to you, dawn!!! <3
Monica says
I am so excited for you. This brings back so many memories of the fun and excitement of telling our families and friends about our own pregnancy. We’d been married almost 10 years before trying for a baby, so when we told our friends by showing them a photo of Abbey (our beagle-mix) with a sign that said “I’m going to be a big sister” they all thought we were getting another dog! 🙂
For my family, we showed Chris’s parents the ultrasound video, and for my side, we sneakily got all of my nieces/nephews to pose for a photo under false pretenses and spelled out the word Grandpa, the last being me pointing to my stomach. Once we gave it to my dad, he showed everyone else. It was awesome.
Julie says
I LOVE THAT!!! Such a cute way to tell your dad!!
Diane says
Your grandma’s reaction was the sweetest!!! Love the update, and hope you continue to do them often 🙂
Samantha says
Such wonderful news Julie, congratulations! I just went to tell my husband “Julie’s pregnant!” But then realised he wouldn’t have a clue who I was talking about!
It’s lovely you’ve been able to tell so many of your family and friends in person, seeing people’s reactions in real life is so precious.
Julie says
Haha!! Yes, I feel so lucky we were able to share the news in person so many times. It was HARD to hold off, but very worth it!
Jess says
It’s so funny how you got pregnant without really trying. In a way, we sort of did too. I miscarried in April and my body was all kinds of messed up for a couple of months. I was taking ovulation tests all the time, and never got a positive result. but ended up with a positive pregnancy test. I, too, had to take like 3 tests before I really believed it. i’m so happy for you and your husband and wish you all the happiness that you deserve.
As for baby’s gender, I predict that it is a boy. Mostly because everyone said to me that since I only seemed to gain weight in my belly, it was a boy. You look like you haven’t gained anywhere except maybe a belly (I don’t know, its hard to tell in your pictures), so I’d guess a boy. Although that can be wrong, but it’s been right more than wrong with my friends and I.
Annie says
ha! I kinda knew that once you’d bought the house, the baby would come next 😀 So happy for you guys! Now all my favorite bloggers are moms/moms to be.
Goldie says
hey, congratulations! we are expecting too 🙂 we’re half a week behind you but due the 1st August as i’ll be induced. we waited to tell people after our 16 week scan as we lost our last baby so wanted to be sure. In fact I’m still a little wary now even as I don’t think it’ll feel real til I get a kick from baby!
why did you choose to wait til 17 weeks to make it public on the blog?
Julie says
It is definitely a nerve-wracking time and I’m so sorry for your loss. Congratulations on your pregnancy and I wish you a very healthy few months until your little one arrives! I waited for a while for a number of reasons — I actually have had a lot of anxiety/nervousness surrounding everything/our baby’s health and I also wanted to wait until I had the chance to tell all of my friends/family first (in person if possible) before sharing it on the internet/social media.
UnlockingKiki says
All the reaction stories were so sweet! The picture of your grandma is a real gem, what a special moment!
Andrea says
Aw congrats girl! I have been reading your blog for years and I am thrilled for you both. My husband and I are actually starting to think about having a baby too! I just went off the pill so we will see! How long did it take for you to regain your cycles after coming off? Did you have to do anything different?
xoxo
Julie says
It actually took a few months! When I initially went off birth control, I did get my period, but for a while my cycles were really weird — like 42 days apart, then 40, 37, etc. until they got back to their usual 28/30 day range.
Queenoffitness says
Hi Andrea, when you go off the pill you’ll have a “period.” I didn’t have another one until 3 months later. I was just at that cusp off should I call my doctor since it hadn’t returned and I knew I wasn’t pregnant. Like Julie my cycles were very long: 45 days, 39 days, 35 days. To this day my cycle can still be a little wonky and unpredictable at times.
Andrea says
Thank you both for the replies! I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, my hormones/periods have been wonky for many years. We are hoping for the best to see how my body will respond off of birth control pills. I was put back on them over a year ago to help sort some other issues (aka diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and put on very potent medication so we had to eliminate any chance of pregnancy). My specialist told me that by May-June if there was no signs of cycles fertility treatment would be the next step. Praying for signs 😉 ha.
Michelle says
I’m in love with your grandma’s reaction!! Too funny! And a huge congratulations!!! It’s weird because the past couple months I had this feeling that we were going to hear news that you were pregnant…and here it is! Amazing…and blessings!
Hollie says
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this, Julie! Motherhood is the most wonderful thing! My guess is girl… I can’t wait to hear though! Boy or girl… either way, what a great thing that God has chosen you and Ryan to parent this little child.
Ashley @ sweet carolina belle says
This warms my heart so. I am so excited for y’all. I think you will be an amazing mom to your little baby. Congrats lovely!

So happy for you guys! I’ve been following your blog for quite some time and was wondering when you guys would start a family!!! I have an 11 week old and reading this blog brought me back…enjoy this time as it truly is so special. Your life will never be the same! Congrats again!
Mallory says
So excited for you guys! Your grandma’s reaction was adorable! As far as guesses, my bet is on that it’s a girl! Also, I suppose a congratulations are in order for Sadie as well, given that she will soon be a “big sister” haha

Even though you don’t personally know a lot of us, you have the ability to make us feel like friends. As a long time reader, I am so happy for my “friend’! Can’t wait to hear more about the journey!
Samantha says
Congratulations! Long time reader here and I had a feeling for the past month or two that the news was coming! I’m so happy for you and your family. What sweet photos of your grandma! Those are precious. Lots of love.
Julie says
<3 <3 thanks for reading for so long!!
Liz says
Seeing your Grandmother’s reaction was priceless and I’m not gonna lie, I teared up!! My Grandparents are not with us anymore so I will never be able to see their reaction. I am so so happy for you guys!! What a cute idea to tell your family with the ornaments! I love it!! Yayyyyyy!!!!!!!!
Krista says
Yay! So excited for you guys!! What a blessing! My husband and I found out we were pregnant Nov 30th (due date Aug 12th), and it was our second month trying. My heart goes out to these pour women who is takes years, sometimes with no success. But like you I feel so incredibly grateful and blesses it only took us two tries. I’ll be praying for your little one to keep growing healthy and strong. By the way (judging by skull theory) I think it’s a girl 🙂
Julie says
congratulations to you and wishing you a healthy pregnancy!! <3
Ciara says
Such exciting news! I’m a long-time reader and can’t wait to follow you on this next adventure! My husband and I are planning on starting to try this year, so I’ll definitely be interested in all of your tips! I also can’t wait to see how you decorate the nursery (if you share it, which I hope you will!)
Briana says
Hi Julie,
Congrats! I’m not pregnant yet but hope to be soon. I was just wondering did you really feel no symptoms up until 6 weeks? I always think I would know right away!
Julie says
I thought the same thing, but I felt 100% normal!! It honestly freaked me out after I got a positive pregnancy test b/c I definitely thought I would “just know.” Not the case for me! Now, however, there’s no denying it. I definitely feel & look different!
eliza says
AHH So exciting! My guess is a little baby boy:)
I always had grand plans of how I would tell my husband but my story was SO similar to yours. I literally was like “wait, it says positive..” haha and yelled to him. Then I forced him to go to the grocery store with me that night to get a more expensive pregnancy test than the generic ones we had initially bought:) I took four in all.
The baby moving is the most amazing feeling ever. I felt fluters at 17 weeks and felt him kick for the first time around 21 weeks. My placenta is anterior so I was nervous my husband wouldn’t feel baby for a while but he felt him at 22 weeks. Hes got a strong little kick.
I am 24 weeks now and my only symptoms at this point is back pain and some mild heartburn. Hoping it stays that way but I don’t really care if I have other symptoms that are normal.. just praying for a healthy babe!
So excited for you two<333
keen peach says
Haha! I thought the same thing as you in the first trimester. “I must be one of the few with no morning sickness yay!”
Ha! It hit me like a ton of bricks. The worst part was my strange food aversions. I am a very healthy eater but I couldn’t stand to even look at anything healthy. It was like an alien had take over my body. I gained the most weight in my first trimester lol!
I for one hope to that you share as much as you possible can about your pregnancy on here. I have to say, I knew you were pregnant this whole time! YOU DON”T LOOK PREGNANT AT ALL. Your writing gave it away! You could tell that you were being secretive about something. 🙂
I don’t know you guys at all but I can’t believe how happy I was for you two to hear the news. 🙂
Kristin S says
Your grandmother’s reaction is priceless!
Brittany @ Lemon Lime Life says
Your grandmother is the cutest! That reaction is so priceless and I’m glad you got a picture to share with us, but most importantly to have to remember the moment! You are going to be the cutest pregnant woman ever and I’m excited to see all your posts moving forward! I’m a long time reader of this blog, 3+ years, and I’m so happy for you!! <3
Ashleigh says
Julie! I am SO happy for you! I’ve been reading your blog for over 5 years and I remember when Ryan was just your boyfriend, then fiance and you were deep into wedding planning. It’s so funny how it feels like my “friend” is pregnant but I was telling my co-workers “pb fingers is pregnant!” hahaha ANYWAY, so happy for you & Ryan and can’t wait to see all of the adventures to come! 🙂 xo
Maddie says
Congratulations Julie, I’m so happy for you and Ryan. Can’t wait to read about the adventures of your pregnancy and being a mom. 🙂
Liz says
Hey Julie!
Long time reader of PB Fingers … and I’m so happy for you and Ryan! It’s so strange, I randomly thought of you last week and wondered “her and Ryan should have kids soon, no?” and then you posted the next day! Crazy coincidence.
Incredibly excited for you. Wishing you a happy pregnancy 🙂
Julie says
love it!! and thank you!
Laura says
Were you nervous to tell you family so early in your pregnancy? I know a lot of people wait until being 12 weeks pregnant due to the risk of miscarriage. We’re planning to tell my sister after my 8 week appt if everything looks good (she is the only one who knows we were trying) and will tell the rest of family after 12 weeks. I think going off BC so long ago probably helped you get pregnant right away! I went off BC in July and we started trying in September but my cycles were wacky, like 10-12 week cycles. I don’t think I actually ovulated until February which is when I got pregnant. I also bought the cheapo strips for ovulation and pregnancy, you definitely have to dip them! haha. So funny you just peed on them at first!
Erin Bromley says
Are you documenting your pregnancy any other way besides the blog? Just curious if your doing a belly book, journal or something else? I’m 13 weeks pregnant and trying to figure out what I want to use.
tiff @ love, sweat, & beers says
This is all so great! I’m glad you and baby are doing well (save for that bit of nausea). Congrats again! I’m totally jealous of all your ultrasounds though. My dr only gives 2 or 3 throughout the entire pregnancy, plus a couple sound-only heartbeat scans. Did you go to one of those side places that special 3D/4D ones, or is that normal for your dr’s office?
Julie says
we get three or four through my normal doctor, but we paid extra for the 3D one through an imaging center. 🙂
Nina says
Still bursting with excitement for you, Julie + Ryan! I’ve been reading your blog for years and finding out you guys are pregnant brings me such joy! I also realized/found out I was due with my first in December) after not really trying and had the same thought as you: “Maybe I’ll be one of those lucky ones without any nausea!” HA HA is right – – what a bummer it was to discover that all-day nausea is totally debilitating. I give you so much credit for continuing your usual workout regimen/teaching! How do you do it??
I’m thrilled to be following along with your journey at the same time as mine – – it’s reassuring and exciting 🙂
Noa says
Congratulations Julie! The ornaments were a cute idea! Are you planning to blog about exercising while pregnant and the modifications you make for that?
Once you get through the morning sickness, do you think you will be indulging in eating whatever you want or do you think you will continue to eat like you have been – healthy with sweet indulgences at times?
Kaella On The Run says
Julie, I’m so happy for you!!! I’m one of your long time (almost since the beginning) readers and I have loved following along as you go engaged, then married, moved and now are expecting! Youre going to be such an amazing mom!!
I didn’t have any morning sickness with London, for the first eight weeks, when I was pregnant and after that it came but I never threw up. I was just EXHAUSTED!! Honestly, I would nap in my car on my lunch break ha ha!!
I hope you blog about whatever you want! I would love to see updates on how you are babe are feeling and doing!
Oh, and it’s so sweet you told everyone in person! I’m sure it was hard but meant the world to them and you!
Congratulations again! I can’t wait to keep following along… (do we need a nickname like Baby PBFingers?)
Take care lady!
Lauren says
I’m so excited for you! My sister and I have been following your blog since the beginning, and I squealed yesterday when I heard your news and immediately texted her! She is pregnant with her second child and is due on August 10, too! I hope all goes well for you; congrats!!
Erin G. says
LOVE your grandmother’s reaction–pure happiness! Thanks for sharing!
Kimberly says
Your Grandmothers reaction is priceless and made me all teary eyed. How sweet to wait and tell all,the special people on your lives in person. As a Momma of 3…may I say just enjoy every little moment. Every stage of pregnancy and childhood teally does go by faster than you think. Blessings…..:)
Jamie says
Hi Julie..Congrats! I have been reading your blog for a few years now and am truly happy for you! Did you use any Ovulation prediction kits? Just curious because I am going to start trying soon.
Julie says
I did not, but I did start tracking my periods using the iPeroid app when my cycles were all whacky after I went off birth control!
Mallory says
Congratulations, Julie! I have been reading for years and I’m so happy for you guys! My little girl, Collins, just turned 6 months and she is my little bestie. They told us she was a boy at 14 weeks and then at 20 she was a girl. Surprise! I hope Baby PBF stays the same gender for y’all because it was quite a shock to wrap my head around but now I can’t imagine not having a sweet little girly.
I look forward to reading your pregnancy posts and know you will rock it. I exercised my entire pregnancy and labor was SO EASY (I actually had a lot of fun and can’t wait to do it again). I taught BodyPump until I was 39 weeks and was back in the gym a month after Collins was born. Childbirth was the best workout of my life!
Congrats again!
Julie says
So many congrats being sent your way! I started reading your blog shortly after your wedding and of course had to go back and get caught up on that part of your life that you documented so beautifully. My husband and I have a beautiful baby girl (who is actually a toddler now) and it is so much fun. As much as your baby needs you to care for them, I feel like I need her just as much. They just complete your life and it is the best feeling. It’s smart that you waited to share your news- I lost another baby recently and it’s been so hard. I will pray for the health of your little one- I feel like you will have a boy! 🙂
Julie says
<3 <3 <3 This comment made me smile! I love this --> “As much as your baby needs you to care for them, I feel like I need her just as much”
April says
Congratulations!! The second trimester is a nice relief after the first. I’m about a week ahead of you (due July 31) and I’m finally feeling a bit more human!
I can relate to the anxiety at first, my husband and I have been trying for about a year so when it finally turned positive I didn’t know what to do! Sharing it with family is such a joyous occasion especially with the older generations.
Wishing the absolute best to you and Ryan during this journey, I look forward to seeing more posts!
Robyn Mizell says
Julie, I have been following your blog for forever. I often wondered when a great announcement like this would pop up. Congratulations to you and Ryan. Y’all are so sweet together. You project soulmates in Everyrhing you do. The fact that you do a lot together will make for a wonderful family team for your baby. How very exciting. I hope you feel good. And I look forward to hearing more good news. Be well. Maybe your sister will have a baby close to yours so they can be best buddies like you and your sister are. All my best. Robyn
Julie says
That would be amazing! They are a few years off from wanting babies right now, but maybe by the time we’re ready for #2? 🙂

Congratulations!!! This is so so exciting. I got so many goosebumps and tingly feelings reading today and yesterday’s posts. Wishing all three of you the absolute best!
