Some mints aren’t really mints at all. They’re candy.
I know this because I never want to eat an entire container of Altoids, but I managed to consume nearly 3/4 of these “mints” today:
Another candy that’s living in disguise as a “mint” is the best flavor of tic tacs…
Orange! I mean who in their right mind eats only one or two orange tic tacs? I’m pretty sure the minimum you could possibly consume at a time is five. Or 10.
Dinner
Fortunately candy mints aren’t the least bit filling and didn’t affect my appetite for dinner in the least.
Both Ryan and I arrived home a little later than usual this evening, so we scrambled to put together a fast dinner.
I quickly boiled two organic chicken breasts in a can of chicken broth on the stove.
(The above picture looks kind of gross, no?)
After about 20 minutes, I removed the chicken breasts from the pot and pulled the meat using two forks before using the chicken to make buffalo chicken sandwiches.
On the side we enjoyed parsnip fries with ketchup for dippin’!
Great dinner! And so easy. Just my style.
Time to hang with my little family. I’m also hoping to do some reading tonight. I’m anxious to pick up where I left off in The Art of Racing in the Rain!
Ice breakers sour are 100% addictive, I don’t even get them because I’ll kill the whole thing in one mouthful!
What do you think of the book so far-is it a good read? P.s. I DEMOLISH those sour sucker/candies/mints whenever they are in site. I eat them like they’re going out of style, no joke 😉
it is really good! but the dog who narrates the story is nothing like what i would imagine sadie to be… he’s wise and patient. 😉
I’ve eaten like 20 of those Altoids in one sitting, and then my tongue was burned off. They’re delicious but so sour!! I always have to remind myself not to hurt my tastebuds 🙂
Never had those sours…but yes to the orange tic tacs. They are so not mints!
Those parsnip fries look like real fries!! And orange tic-tacs are definitely the best flavor!!!
ahhh those are SOO good.
Can I just say that I’ve definitely downed an entire container of sugar-free Altoids smalls in a day?
I really need to try the parsnip fries! I see them all the time on your blog and they look GREAT!
The sour ones are SO addictive! I went through a whole container one time in one night!
I can’t wait fo ryou to do a recap on Racing in the Rain… i’ve heard so many great things about it!
Oh, and you are *so* right, those orange tic tacs are TOTALL candy!!!
Yum! That chicken looks delish!
I tried making the rutabaga fries you frequently show on pbfingers and they were crazy bitter! I’m pretty sure I left some skin on the skin on. Could that account for the funky flavor?
try parsnip fries… the taste is MUCH more mild. rutabaga fries can really vary depending on the rutabaga.
Those Ice Breaker Sours are AMAZING – I could polish the whole container off in one sitting.
orange tic tacs, like orange trident, is ADDICTING!!! gah
Alright, so I started Catching Fire a few nights ago – it’s taking me a while to get into it. I’m about 100 pages in, but it’s not sucking me in like The Hunger Games. Does it pick up?!
yes!
Oh my goodness, Ice Breakers and Tic Tacs are a huge weakness for me!! I love the fruity Tic Tacs. Once I decided Ice Breakers would be a good study snack… and after a long night of studying, the next morning I woke up with some major sores on my tongue! OUCH! But they are so good!
Those ice breaker sours are like crack! I could eat an entire tin in one day. Do you prefer parsnip fries or sweet potato fries?
i actually prefer parsnip fries, but i love sweet potato fries, too!
I’m in agreement with you Julie, orange tic tacs are totally yummy candy. So are the ice breakers.
CANDYLICIOUS!
Eek be careful! I ate an entire pack of those ice breakers sours once and had the worst stomach pains of my LIFE. 🙁
Bob’s Candy Soft mints are those most addicting little mints ever, along with sugar free original Worthers
I cannot buy mints. They aren’t mints to me, they are a single serving snack. Its kinda the same way with a pack of gum!!
I found your blog yesterday, and I’ve got to say – I’ve never been this hooked in my life!
Thanks for sharing all of your healthy eating/exercising tips and experiences, not to mention the recipes and workout plans!
yay! so glad you found me, monica! 🙂
LOVE those ice breakers! I haven’t made my chicken like that for a few weeks…so after looking at this post, I got inspired for my dinner tonight!
oh gosh, I used to eat ice breakers all the time when I was in college! I was in my “sugar-free phase” & routinely ate them like candy until my mouth became raw from the sour. Have you ever had those fruity altoids? I’m not sure if they make them anymore, but those are good candy mints too.
Ok, this may be TMI, but I can’t buy those IceBreaker Sours anymore cause they are so addicting and they give me the WORST gas…totally gross. hahaha!
ME TOOOOO! Like PAINFUL..I even got a headache with it..never again!
I was gonna say the same thing! Horrible cramps and terrible, gross gas.
Ok, I’m super glad I’m not the only one! 🙂
OMG me too! I was thinking the exact same thing! I love those things but would get horrible stomach issues and gas! Ugh!
I’ve never boiled chicken for pulled sammies. I might have to try that.
Orange tic tac are so good! Best “mint” ever ;).
I was actually just thinking that about mints today as I ate a 1/2 tin of ice breakers at work! I’ll have to try that kind you got!
Orange tictacs!!! I used to enhale those containers as a kid.
I LOVE YOUR BLOG! I just found it yesterday, and I think I spent a hour looking at all your old posts!
How do you make the parsnip fries? They look great!
i just had a friend send over some mint choc chip mints & i can’t stop eating, um, incredible.
i’ve always struggled making pulled things!
I like the boiling technique! Buffalo chicken sandwiches sound really yummy.
I used to eat orange tic-tacs like candy ALL. THE. TIME. One morning, I put some in my mouth, then turned my head upside down to dry my hair. The next thing I knew, orange snot was dripping out of my nose. Word to the wise: don’t do that!
Haha AWESOME!
Did you use Franks!? I can’t eat buffalo sauce unless it’s franks. I put that sh*t on everything 😉
Of course! Franks rocks!
ok now i really want to try rutabaga and parsnip fries!
I chew about a pack of gum a day! Horrrible addiction but I love it 🙂
Oh me too! I’m a gum addict.
yeah some mints are total candy!!
those parsnip fries look delish! I love love love parsnip!
Those Icebreakers are the best! Definitely my favorite way of sneaking candy into my diet–as if I don’t do that enough without the handy “but it’s a mint!” excuse.
In light of National Peanut Butter Lovers Day, I would just like to share with you that I found a peanut butter sandwich in my bed last night, compliments of the kids. I bet Sadie has much better manners than that!
I used to eat Mentos like Candy! Yumm …
i much prefer gum over mints but mints ROCK! i m addicted to the mint flavor though- thats the best part!! parsnip fries? LOVE
Orange tic tacs are amazing!! Haha I haven’t thought about them in years. I might have to buy some today 🙂
Haha, I can’t believe they even try to describe them as “mints”. Definitely candy!!!
My fiance and I LOVE those little Ice Breaker “mints!” There is another kind that has tangerine, apple, and lemonade flavors or something like that…we always get that little container of them and they are gone within a week! So delicious! I love the orange tic tacs too. Do you remember Life Saver Holes from when you were a kid? They came in a little tub and they were different flavors…and they looked the the “holes” of lifesavers?
I started the book The Art of Racing in the Rain last night- so far so good. I love reading from the dogs point of view, I couldn’t help but laugh out loud!
Where did you find parsnips? I looked at Publix recently and couldn’t find any=(
I LOVE those sour berry “mints”. I keep them in my car so I don’t demolish the whole package.
PS – Our grocery store finally got Spinach and Artichoke cream cheese – delish!!
I love buffalo chicken sandwiches! They are so easy to make yet they taste amazing! 🙂
Hmmm that sandwich looks incredible… definitely going to try that tonight! Did you just toss in some buffalo sauce to a bowl of the shredded chicken and stir it around? Do you think it’d work the same with BBQ sauce?
Your buffalo chicken sandwiches look awesome! I really love this idea! And yes, orange Tic Tacs are by far the best 🙂
I read that and all I could think about was Paulie Bleaker from Juno. : )
