Some mints aren’t really mints at all. They’re candy.
I know this because I never want to eat an entire container of Altoids, but I managed to consume nearly 3/4 of these “mints” today:
Another candy that’s living in disguise as a “mint” is the best flavor of tic tacs…
Orange! I mean who in their right mind eats only one or two orange tic tacs? I’m pretty sure the minimum you could possibly consume at a time is five. Or 10.
Dinner
Fortunately candy mints aren’t the least bit filling and didn’t affect my appetite for dinner in the least.
Both Ryan and I arrived home a little later than usual this evening, so we scrambled to put together a fast dinner.
I quickly boiled two organic chicken breasts in a can of chicken broth on the stove.
(The above picture looks kind of gross, no?)
After about 20 minutes, I removed the chicken breasts from the pot and pulled the meat using two forks before using the chicken to make buffalo chicken sandwiches.
On the side we enjoyed parsnip fries with ketchup for dippin’!
Great dinner! And so easy. Just my style.
Time to hang with my little family. I’m also hoping to do some reading tonight. I’m anxious to pick up where I left off in The Art of Racing in the Rain!
Caitlin @ TPL says
Ice breakers sour are 100% addictive, I don’t even get them because I’ll kill the whole thing in one mouthful!
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
What do you think of the book so far-is it a good read? P.s. I DEMOLISH those sour sucker/candies/mints whenever they are in site. I eat them like they’re going out of style, no joke 😉
peanutbutterfingers says
it is really good! but the dog who narrates the story is nothing like what i would imagine sadie to be… he’s wise and patient. 😉
Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine says
I’ve eaten like 20 of those Altoids in one sitting, and then my tongue was burned off. They’re delicious but so sour!! I always have to remind myself not to hurt my tastebuds 🙂
Tina @ Faith Fitness Fun says
Never had those sours…but yes to the orange tic tacs. They are so not mints!
Kristy @ KristyRuns says
Those parsnip fries look like real fries!! And orange tic-tacs are definitely the best flavor!!!
Ashley says

Victoria (District Chocoholic) says
Can I just say that I’ve definitely downed an entire container of sugar-free Altoids smalls in a day?

Gen says
Yum! That chicken looks delish!
Ashley says
I tried making the rutabaga fries you frequently show on pbfingers and they were crazy bitter! I’m pretty sure I left some skin on the skin on. Could that account for the funky flavor?
peanutbutterfingers says
try parsnip fries… the taste is MUCH more mild. rutabaga fries can really vary depending on the rutabaga.
LKO says
Those Ice Breaker Sours are AMAZING – I could polish the whole container off in one sitting.
rebecca lustig says
orange tic tacs, like orange trident, is ADDICTING!!! gah
Courtney @ The Granola Chronicles says
Alright, so I started Catching Fire a few nights ago – it’s taking me a while to get into it. I’m about 100 pages in, but it’s not sucking me in like The Hunger Games. Does it pick up?!
peanutbutterfingers says
yes!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
Oh my goodness, Ice Breakers and Tic Tacs are a huge weakness for me!! I love the fruity Tic Tacs. Once I decided Ice Breakers would be a good study snack… and after a long night of studying, the next morning I woke up with some major sores on my tongue! OUCH! But they are so good!
Colleen @ The Lunchbox Diaries says
Those ice breaker sours are like crack! I could eat an entire tin in one day. Do you prefer parsnip fries or sweet potato fries?
peanutbutterfingers says
i actually prefer parsnip fries, but i love sweet potato fries, too!
Amy at TheSceneFromMe says
I’m in agreement with you Julie, orange tic tacs are totally yummy candy. So are the ice breakers.

I cannot buy mints. They aren’t mints to me, they are a single serving snack. Its kinda the same way with a pack of gum!!

LOVE those ice breakers! I haven’t made my chicken like that for a few weeks…so after looking at this post, I got inspired for my dinner tonight!
Mary says
oh gosh, I used to eat ice breakers all the time when I was in college! I was in my “sugar-free phase” & routinely ate them like candy until my mouth became raw from the sour. Have you ever had those fruity altoids? I’m not sure if they make them anymore, but those are good candy mints too.
ellie says
Ok, this may be TMI, but I can’t buy those IceBreaker Sours anymore cause they are so addicting and they give me the WORST gas…totally gross. hahaha!
Jamie@cupcakedynamite says
ME TOOOOO! Like PAINFUL..I even got a headache with it..never again!

Anne @thefitbridesmaid says
I used to eat orange tic-tacs like candy ALL. THE. TIME. One morning, I put some in my mouth, then turned my head upside down to dry my hair. The next thing I knew, orange snot was dripping out of my nose. Word to the wise: don’t do that!
Amanda says
Haha AWESOME!
Alyssa says
Did you use Franks!? I can’t eat buffalo sauce unless it’s franks. I put that sh*t on everything 😉

Those Icebreakers are the best! Definitely my favorite way of sneaking candy into my diet–as if I don’t do that enough without the handy “but it’s a mint!” excuse.
Jane says
In light of National Peanut Butter Lovers Day, I would just like to share with you that I found a peanut butter sandwich in my bed last night, compliments of the kids. I bet Sadie has much better manners than that!

Lauren says
Haha, I can’t believe they even try to describe them as “mints”. Definitely candy!!!
Laura says
My fiance and I LOVE those little Ice Breaker “mints!” There is another kind that has tangerine, apple, and lemonade flavors or something like that…we always get that little container of them and they are gone within a week! So delicious! I love the orange tic tacs too. Do you remember Life Saver Holes from when you were a kid? They came in a little tub and they were different flavors…and they looked the the “holes” of lifesavers?
Caitlin says
I started the book The Art of Racing in the Rain last night- so far so good. I love reading from the dogs point of view, I couldn’t help but laugh out loud!
Grace @ YourDailyGrace says
Where did you find parsnips? I looked at Publix recently and couldn’t find any=(
Amanda says
I LOVE those sour berry “mints”. I keep them in my car so I don’t demolish the whole package.
PS – Our grocery store finally got Spinach and Artichoke cream cheese – delish!!
Hope says
I love buffalo chicken sandwiches! They are so easy to make yet they taste amazing! 🙂
Annie says
Hmmm that sandwich looks incredible… definitely going to try that tonight! Did you just toss in some buffalo sauce to a bowl of the shredded chicken and stir it around? Do you think it’d work the same with BBQ sauce?
Rachel @ The Avid Appetite says
Your buffalo chicken sandwiches look awesome! I really love this idea! And yes, orange Tic Tacs are by far the best 🙂
kimmah says
I read that and all I could think about was Paulie Bleaker from Juno. : )
