I knew I wanted to continue teaching group exercise classes when we first moved to North Carolina, but since I wasn’t sure where we were going to end up living while we were in temp housing, I held off and didn’t start looking for a job until we found our new home and officially moved in last month.
I’m looking forward to some new challenges and breaking out of my comfort zone a bit. I’ve never taught a pre-designed class like PiYo before and since learning choreography is very difficult for me, I’m hoping I can pick it up without becoming too frustrated! For those of you out there who may be used to learning choreography, I’d love to hear any tips and tricks you might have for committing everything to memory. Practice, practice, practice is pretty much my only thought at the moment!
Homemade Starbucks Spinach Feta Wrap Recipe
I have a yummy breakfast recipe to share with you guys today. It’s inspired by my favorite breakfast wrap from Starbucks and is really easy to make… Just like nearly every recipe I share on this blog. Simple recipes are the way to go!
This recipe requires a small handful of ingredients that you can easily find at your local grocery store.
I tried to make sure to combine all of the important flavors from my favorite wrap to get as close to the real deal as possible. Fresh spinach, crumbled feta cheese and sundried tomatoes add a serious punch of flavor to the wrap!
After checking out the ingredient list on Starbucks’ website to see what is used to make the original wrap, I saw that sundried tomato cream cheese was used, but since I could not find that at my grocery store, I used a wedge of The Laughing Cow Creamy Mozzarella Sun-Dried Tomato & Basil cheese instead.
You can easily substitute veggie or sun-dried tomato cream cheese if you have it on hand though! Just don’t skip this step because it definitely adds to the flavor of the wrap!

Description
This recipe for an at-home version of Starbucks’ spinach feta wrap is a delicious wrap that you can enjoy for lunch or dinner!
Ingredients
- 1 whole wheat tortilla
- 2 egg whites
- 1 wedge of The Laughing Cow Creamy Mozzarella Sun-Dried Tomato & Basil cheese
- 2 tablespoons sundried tomatoes
- 2 1/4 cups fresh spinach
- 2 tablespoons feta cheese
Instructions
- Spray small skillet with non-stick spray or coat with a teaspoon of olive oil. Add egg whites and cook omelet-style so they form one large egg white patty.
- Remove egg white from pan and set aside. Spray pan again or coat with a teaspoon of olive oil. Add spinach and sundried tomatoes, cooking until spinach is wilted. Add feta and let warm slightly.
- Spread cheese wedge on tortilla. Top with spinach, feta and tomato mixture. Add egg white patty and roll up.
- Enjoy!
This recipe took about seven minutes to make. Not too shabby! It can also easily be prepared the night before and frozen or refrigerated for an easy reheat-and-eat morning meal. I’m thinking I may make a bigger batch of them next time so I can have a few on hand to quickly microwave for an easy breakfast option in the future.
Get in my belly!

Hey Julie! Congrats on your new teaching gig! As someone who teaches a few too many classes a week, my biggest tip for learning choreography is knowing your music inside and out. Listening to it a lot, especially in the car can be really helpful. Also try challenging yourself to make sure you know your choreo by fast forwarding in a song and then seeing how long it takes you to figure out where in the choreo you are. It’s my favorite way to learn all my Les Mills stuff and how I used to memorize all my Zumba choreo. Good luck!

Thank you, Jenna!

Mmmmmm! This sounds/looks deeeeeeelish!
As for learning choreo, it comes with time. So don’t worry, I promise it gets easier!! Everyone learns choreo differently, but I’d say that most of us who teach a bunch of pre-choreod classes (i.e. Les Mills & Zumba classes for me), listen to the music over & over & over again. Then practice the moves with the music. If you know your music, you will know the choreo b/c you can hear the changes & when something will come up next 🙂 You will do great, I know it!

Hi Julie,
I’m not sure if this will help but when I was on a dance team (waaaaay back when) we learned everything in 8-counts. I’m not sure if that will be effective in PiYo but in dance choreography (and cheerleading) each move was one count or a half count. We tied 8 moves (or 16 if we were using half counts) together and learned that sequence over and over until we added the second 8/16 count…we would practice those two sequences together and then add a third 8/16 count. You get the idea. I hope that makes sense…basically it’s memorization but it helped me to break it down that way…5,6,7,8 and dance! 🙂

Thank you for the tip!!!

AH! Starbucks spinach feta wrap is my favorite ever. We live in Australia now and Starbucks are (very) few and far between and I drool at my computer screen every time you mention eating one. This is perfect, now I can re-create it at home! Thanks for making my day 🙂

Love this! My mom and I always share one of these wraps after Body Pump class on Saturdays! I’ll def. have to give this a whirl at home! Also – congrats on your teaching gig! I do PiYo regularly (live classes) & while I’ve been tempted to get certified, there’s a whole lot of talking that goes along with teaching a class – !!! 🙂 That said, PiYo has really helped me stretch and lengthen the muscles I beat the heck out of during the week! I love reading that you enjoy it as well! So cool!

I used to teach Les Mills BodyPump, which is 100% choreographed. My secret – use note cards! I used to take the choreo and write it out on small note cards that I could take with me everywhere. I would write the number of counts and the pace (example 4 counts of 2/2) and the word of the song that this started on. It would really help me because there is usually a pattern that the choreo follows (at least for BodyPump) where the chorus is always the same counts and moves and the you can easily see it when written out. Also, listen to the music in your car and memorize the songs…it will help tremendously! It’s to the point now where I can do BodyPump moves to any song because I break all music into 8 counts, lol! Good Luck!
And the spinach wrap looks awesome, thanks for sharing!

Julie,
First of all, I LOVE your blog, and after reading your PiYo post I’m considering taking the certification course myself. 😀 Anyway, I used to be a cheerleader and here’s what I can recommend for learning (and remembering) choreography. Yes practice, but I think it helps to memorize it in chunks. Let’s say that you split it up into four or five segements. What I would suggest is to learn part 1. Practice part 1 over and over until it’s nailed. Then try doing part one plus part two. Do it over and over until you’re comortable. Once you’ve mastered that, practice part one, part two and add on part three. I would do this with dances and it really helps to remember all of the moves instead of practicing the entire routine over and over and over as a whole. Hope this helps! 🙂

hi julie! i love this recipe- i actually just made a batch to enjoy for breakfast this week! do you have any recommendations on how to keep the tortilla from getting too soggy? of course it’s going to a little bit. i drained out some of the excess liquid from the spinach/ tomato mixture but mine still ended up really soggy on the bottom. i love the idea of having a bunch of these in the freezer but didn’t want to go for it until i figured out the soggy tortilla issue.
Julie says
Yes! Once the tortilla is full, I’d place it back in the skillet to make both sides slightly crispy before eating/freezing!

Made two of these today and my guy and I both loved them. They taste just like Starbucks’ original version and have the same macro-nutrients spread – yay! My only modifications were
– adding dried basil to the egg whites as well as to the spinach while it cooked (sooo good)
– using laughing cow white cheddar as I couldn’t find the one you used (but I used only half a triangle)
– tossing the wraps into my toaster oven at the end to get them nice and crispy like Starbucks serves them.
Thanks for the inspiration!
