Strawberry Banana Bonanza

August 24, 2010 by Julie 33 Comments

When it comes to hard candy, strawberry is always my flavor of choice. This works out really well for me and Ryan because he loves the yellow and green flavors and always leaves me the reds!

Today’s breakfast featured lots o’ strawberry flavor, but from healthy sources, not artificially delicious gummy candies.

This morning I woke up feeling not-so-hot and wanted to enjoy a breakfast that would be easy on my stomach but still tasty.

I made myself a super-easy strawberry banana bonanza breakfast.

Today’s meal included a bowl of freshly sliced strawberries, a large banana and a cup of strawberry banana Chobani yogurt.

It was super tasty, but I’m not sure how the yogurt feels in my belly. I think I may have been better off enjoying a simple piece of toast with some buttah?

Question of the Morning

What foods or drinks do you feel like make you feel better when you’re sick?

Nothin’ makes me feel better than a cup of my mom’s homemade chicken noodle soup! I also think drinking ginger ale when I’m sick helps to ease my stomach.

My favorite sick food is toast with marmite (a british spread that is super salty) it just hits the spot and the salt always settles my stomach

Strawberry is always my flavor of choice too! Love it. And I’m with you on the ginger ale – my mom always gave that to us.

I love fruit when i’m starting to feel crummy. I’ll make a smoothie in a bowl packed with berries and vitamin c. Cold and healing. 🙂 Perfection.

When I’m sick, I need to eat something bland and easy to digest, such as oatmeal, toast or a handful of non-sugary cereal. Eating anthing sweet or acidic just upsets my stomach even more. Vanilla soft serve ice cream really soothes my stomach when I’m feeling sick and it’s super tasty!

Tomato soup is definitely my number one food to eat when I am sick. Sometimes I will eat it with a grilled cheese sandwich. It’s “comfort” sick food. Yummy!

    Strawberry/Banana flavors are the best.

I have that yogurt for a snack today! When I’m nauseous, flattened coke helps, or ginger ale. I actually hate soup when I’m sick.

when i’m sick, all i can eat is fruit, and sometimes creamy things like yogurt & applesauce. seriously nothing else sounds good to me and i have to force myself to eat anything else. lots of people like toast or soup when they’re sick but i just can’t do it.

I love chewing ginger chews when I’m nauseous- it really does help. Other than that, when I’m sick all I want is carbs. Cereal, toast, tortillas, pitas…I try to just honor by body and give it what it wants! Hope you feel better soon!

When I’m sick, I am usually a tea, ginger ale, toast, and soup kind of gal. Nothing too complicated, and everything is quick to make. If I have more of an appetite, I throw some ice cream in there as a treat 🙂

My dad always used to make me milkshakes when I was sick when I was little. Recently he tried that again, and it made me even more sick! Dairy does not mix well with me when my stomach is upset! Not sure why they used to make me feel better when I was younger!

    Hope you feel better!!

Definitely ginger ale! That is proven. The ginger is a soother. Toast is also a good one, as is soups. Anything with dairy irritates my stomach so I try to stay as bland as possible.

    Hope you feel better soon!!

My favorite as a child was Sunny Delight – I had to have it when I was sick. I had it several years ago, and it tasted horrible. Must have been a kid thing 🙂 . Now, ice cream always makes me feel better 🙂 .

Homemade chicken noodle soup made by the husband for cold/congestion/soar throat, and toast with a little butter for those times when you feel you can’t eat a thing. Hot tea helps as well.
