I’m pretty sure I didn’t stop sweating from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. It was sweatastic!
I took a group of runners out for a 5K run around the gym at 9 a.m. Our first runner’s club run went well, but my goodness it was HOT. Everyone returned red-faced and dripping in sweat, but I think the social aspect of the run kept our spirits high.
I had a lot of fun talking to Erika, a gym member and friend of mine who seems like my running twin. We both said that no matter how much we run, running always feels hard for us… but it also gives us a sense of accomplishment like no other form of exercise. Every single time I cross the finish line at the end of a half marathon, I am filled with the most amazing feeling.
I think that’s what keeps me coming back time and time again. It’s pretty fabulous! (Just in case you’re new to running and really want to build up to running a half marathon, check out this post: So You Want To Run a Half Marathon. I started by running a 5K and built my way up!)
After our ridiculously sweaty outdoor run, I was really hoping I’d have 15 minutes to quickly shower before my first appointment of the day, but that didn’t happen and I ended up working through the morning in my gross running clothes.
At one point, my personal training client said, “Do you smell that!? It smells like… soap.” I was shocked when she said “soap” and not “armpit” because, at that point, I was dying to take a shower and was concerned I was stinking up a storm. Unfortunately my morning was jam-packed so I didn’t get a chance to shower and before I knew it, I was back outside teaching water fitness and sweating my butt off again.
By the time I finally made it home from work, my shower felt beyond glorious. Oh to be clean again!
Lunch
Backing it up to my break room lunch…
I packed leftovers from Sunday night’s dinner. I know it looks pretty horrific, but it was so, so good. Ryan and I made Publix Apron’s date night chicken and loved it.
I tried a sample of the dish from the sample lady when I was grocery shopping on Sunday afternoon and knew we had to make it for dinner that night. I told Ryan that I felt like one of the chefs on Chopped when the recipe had me deglazing the pan with a cup of white wine. Snazzy!
If you’re looking for a delicious dinner, I highly recommend trying the date night chicken. (It’s called date night chicken because, not only is it a delicious “date night” dinner, but dates are one of the main ingredients in the dish.) And don’t worry, I’m sure you can pretty it up a bit, too!
Alright, folks, I’m outta here! My mission for the rest of the day?
Hydrate.

Question of the Afternoon
- When was the last time you were ridiculously sweaty this summer?
I was pretty sweaty after power yoga on Saturday, but any outdoor run in the summer in Florida takes the cake when it comes to sweating. Running in the humidity makes me sweat like a beast.

hot yoga, definitely. especially Bikram!
unfortunately I haven’t had the time to do it in about a month and I miss leaving the studio with the satisfaction of being absolutely drenched in sweat!

I love to eat good food after workout, it seems to reward yourself.
