Let’s get things started on the right foot today and kick off our Thursday with some fun music! I’ve been listening to the Pitch Perfect station on Pandora lately and find myself singing at my desk whenever the finale song from the movie starts blaring. It’s so darn catchy!
Every time Rebel Wilson’s part pops up I can just picture her singing it and it cracks me up.
Movies like Pitch Perfect make me really, really wish I was blessed with the ability to sing. With the amount of love I have in my heart for singing and choreographed dancing, I feel like I should have been blessed with these talents, but unfortunately they passed me by.
My lack of singing ability doesn’t stop me from belting out my favorite songs but when it comes to choreographed dancing, I feel ridiculously intimidated. I have no problem busting a move on the dance floor at weddings and really enjoy dancing, but the minute I have to learn choreography, my mind shuts down or something. This is probably why I never made the cheerleading team in high school. Thank goodness for no-cut sports teams!
Workout
Last night, when I arrived home, I had a ton of stuff in my hands as I headed inside from the garage. When I went to awkwardly swing the door shut behind me, it flew closed and scraped the skin off the back of my left foot. There was a lot of blood and now I have a big gash right where the back of my shoe rubs which makes it hard to wear sneakers. Thankfully I am not sore or anything, but wearing a shoe on my left foot isn’t too pleasant.
This morning, I wore the biggest pair of sneakers I could find and did 20 minutes on the arc trainer since my feet could remain stationary which prevented my sneaker from rubbing the tender spot. I finished with a shoulder strength workout and some core work.
Breakfast
Once we made it home, I prepared an egg white and oatmeal protein pancake for breakfast.
I followed my original recipe but added a handful of slivered almonds to the mix and sprinkled more almonds on top for a punch of healthy fat.
Coffee on the side!
Off to work!
Question of the Morning
- What is one talent that eludes you that you think you should have because you love it so much?
Britt @ Fit Fit Britt Britt says
I have always been a jack of all trades, master of none… So I guess I wish that I was blessed with the super dedication/follow through gene. Anytime I start to get really good at something, I find something else I would rather do instead, lol.
Karie says
Oh my gosh we must be sisters because you just described me. People always ask me what I can’t do and I always say I don’t know. I’m just not wow amazing in any one thing I’m always trying new things. But I do have to say my talent is not running. I’m trying to train for a half Marathon next July and I have never run in my life. Now I know why….. I’m slow 🙁
Rachel @ Health My Lifestyle says
I’m just like both of you too! I love to try new things but I never become a pro at anything. Good luck on your half marathon! Nothing wrong with being slow– you have plenty of time to work up your speed =)
Taylor @ Single-tracked Mind says
I think I should be gifted at languages. Definitely teaching my kids multiple languages when they’re little!
The egg white pancakes looks delish!
Kristen @ notsodomesticated says
I would love to be able to dance really well. I love that show “So you think you can dance,” but I am NOT a dancer at all. My husband is actually pretty good but sadly, I am not!
Ellie says
Hehe me too! I love singing and things like painting. And although I’m listenable and alright when it comes to art, I’m definitely not great! 😉 oh well, God knows best right?! Oh and dancing I don’t enjoy in any form, lol.
Karen R @www.fabinyour40s.com says
I would love to be a great cook. I try and follow recipes and they come out ok, but nothing really awesome.
Shel@PeachyPalate says
Hope your foot feels better soon! Whats the difference between the arc trainer and the elliptical?
Ashley says
I seem to be prove to any little thing hurting me right now, just like that! Such a bummer when something so silly keeps you sidelined!
Michelle @ A Healthy Mrs says
Yikes — hope your foot feels better soon!
I would love to be a better singer — I’d love to be a Broadway performer more than anything!
erica says
I definitely wish I could sing and dance. =)
Maureen says
I really wish I could sing without people having to cover their ears and dance without people asking me if I am having a seizure.
Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves says
I really wish I could play tennis! It’s one of the only sports I genuinely enjoy watching, but I have very little hand-eye coordination, so I kind of stink at playing. Oh well. When we play tennis in phys ed, I just pretend I’m Serena or Venus….as I serve to the net. 😉
Carrie @ Season It Already! says
OMG! There is a Pitch Perfect Pandora Station? How did I not know this!?
Christina@LiveDreamRun says
One of my many passions is singing: I literally lose myself in it. Some days, I think I sound wonderful, and others, I have to laugh because it’s just wrong. Maybe I’ll seek out those singing lessons to be sure. 😉
Brittany @ The Fit Phoenician says
I never thought to listen to Pitch Perfect on Pandora. I might have to try this on my run today!
Abi@AbsofSteel says
I feel like a should be good at sports. I exercise regularly so I’m in good shape but my total lack of hand and eye coordination seems to more than make up for that…. at least there’s always running =)
Nicole says
It’s not really a “talent” per se, but I wish I was gifted with home organizational skills – like Martha Stewart who has a place or a method for everything she does in her house. My roommate is somewhat similar – she can arrange things in “such a way” that it always looks organized, but yet not stuffy.
Katie @ Bevo Loves an Aggie says
I wish I could sing, too. 🙁 LOVE that movie!
Lindsay @FitandAwesome says
I wish I could sing. But I have absolutely no rhythm whatsoever. Which is even more ironic considering how much I love music!
Jodea @ chillichocolatelove.com says
I’m useless at choreographed dancing too! So frustrating! In my head I can do it!
Missy says
I love Pitch Perfect and feel the same way about singing, I was not blessed with a great voice but man I wish I could sing after watching that movie!
Such a fun movie!
Lizzie says
Argh the exact same thing happened to me last friday walking in from the garage and the door decided to tear half the back of my foot off!! Then I had work things this week where i had to wear high heels so it is even more mangled! 🙁 🙁
Dana says
NO WAY… ha your swinging door scenario happened to me last week with groceries. Almost had to wear Uggs to work.
Christine Middleton says
I wish we had Pandora in Canada! I will have to try that pancake! I hope you foot recovers for tomorrow!
Catherine @ foodiecology says
I love Pitch Perfect so much!! I have to agree 100% on the music/dancing talent. Musicals (both stage and film) are one of my favorite things, and it’s just a shame that I have ZERO talent myself. I also wish I had talent in the photography department. I can always look at completely random things and visualize a photo, but if I try to actually photograph it, it’s just a disaster. Oh well…
Also, that pancake looks delicious!
Sky@theblondeinblack says
I really wish I was crafty! My Mom and sister are so good at it and natural! I have great ideas from Pinterest, but of course it never turns out how I like! I’m sorry about your foot that’s the worst when it inhibits working out!
Missy says
I love Pitch Perfect! I was in show choir in high school and miss it ALL THE TIME! I didn’t know there was a Pandora station for it, I have a feeling I’m going to be hooked.
Alycia says
I love Pitch Perfect! It is my favorite movie ever! I cant sing either but it doesn’t stop me following along with the whole movie!
Cassie @RedLetterDaye says
I would LOVE to be able to sing, but I can’t either. I feel like dance is something you can learn, and singing isn’t. You can get better at it if you have some talent, but it’s one of those “natural” things I think. Fortunately, I can dance, but choreography for me has always been a struggle. I chalk it up to just “feeling the flow.” haha. I danced in college, and definitely got a lot better, and eventually choreographed hip-hop dance, but even teaching it didn’t come natural. “Just do what I do!” I’d tell my girls. Oh, well. 😉
Megan says
OUCH I hate when that happens. I have definitely smacked myself numerous times and then ended up wounded. It’s no fun when clumsiness gets in the way!
Courtney @ Don't Blink. Just Run. says
Oh the love I have for Pitch Perfect. There are no words. I can’t sing OR dance, but driving my car you’d have no idea because I sing like a boss and can chair-dance like nobody’s business!
Paige says
I swing by your blog all the time. I love it!! Thank you so much for putting all your stuff out there. I just have to give you a huge thank you for the Pitch Perfect Pandora suggestion!! It is amazing and have had so much fun listening to it over the weekend.
Thank you!!

It’s one of my favs!! So glad you like it, too!
