It’s Wednesday and we’re already halfway through the workweek. Not too shabby, huh? I hope your morning hasn’t been too hectic so far!
Before we dive into breakfast, let’s back up a bit to yesterday…
I meant to check in again later yesterday afternoon after my visit to Caitlin’s house, but I got called back into work at the gym when a coworker went home sick. (Is everyone sick where you are right now, too!?) So, I didn’t get a chance to post my usual second post of the day, but now we’re back in action!
My extended mid-day break was a great one because it gave me a chance to see Caitlin and drop off a (gluten-free + vegetarian) lasagna, visit with her sweet son Henry and meet her adorable baby girl, Claire. Plus, I got to see my old furry buddies, Caitlin’s dogs Maggie and James and her beautiful gray cat Ferguson!
I wish I got to see the Boyle gang more often! (Though Caitlin and I both live in the Charlotte area, we live on opposite ends of the outside of the city and our houses are nearly 50 minutes apart.) Meeting Claire was such a treat because she really is the smiliest little girl. I visited with Caitlin for a little less than two hours before heading out and back into work.
On my way back to the gym, I couldn’t resist popping into Sunflour Baking Company for a fresh sharp cheddar biscuit.
Ryan and I first discovered Sunflour during our top-secret trip to Charlotte when he was interviewing for his new job and immediately loved the atmosphere of the local family-owned bakery and café. Yesterday’s cheddar biscuit was just as delicious as I remembered and served as the perfect midday pick-me-up.
I spent the rest of the afternoon and early evening working at the gym before heading home, digging into sloppy joes for dinner and crashing on the couch with Ryan and two episodes of Homeland.
Today
Ryan and I opted to sleep in today again (yes, we fell victim to staying up too late watching Homeland again) and since I’m not teaching any classes today, I’m hoping to be able to use my lunch break at the gym a little early today to squeeze in an afternoon workout of my own.
But first things first: Breakfast!
Today’s morning meal included a breakfast sandwich with Swiss cheese, egg whites and turkey bacon, served with a sliced Pink Lady apple.
Plus some raw almonds that I snacked on while putting together the above plate!
Have a wonderful Wednesday, my friends!!
Question of the Morning
- What TV shows have you watched in the past that you found totally addicting?
House of Cards basically ran our lives until we made it through every episode last year. That show is so, so good! Scandal also totally sucked me in when I first started watching it.
Chrissy @ Pink Polish and Running Shoes says
I recently got addicted to sons of anarchy. Thanks Netflix 😉
Jackie says
YUM! Sunflower Baking Co. is my favorite place ever! I live about 5 minutes away and have to limit myself on visits per week. Their lattes are delishhh & the Cheddar biscuit with egg + avocado is really good! So happy that I found your blog. 🙂
Julie says
yes!!! that’s the sandwich i had last time — it’s amazing!
Janet Pole says
Oh dear .. for a second there I thought you got a new dog and that Sadie would be pickled.
Orphan Black is the BEST SHOW I have found in years. Ditto for Broadchurch (not the Gracepoint version they did in US) … BC ‘s second season is running right now and I stayed up to 3am watching it as it came on from 2-3 where I live due to the golden globes .. at least next week I can watch at a normal time!)
Stephanie says
I’m also addicted to House of Cards and Scandal, but How to Get Away with Murder totally sucked me and my roommate in last fall!
Jennifer says
OMG I want your friend’s dog!! So cute!!! Thanks for sharing that picture. I was addicted to Breaking Bad. I actually watched all the seasons after the series ended and couldn’t stop. I was also addicted to Sons of Anarchy but watched that as the series went on. It was tough to wait 9 months for the new season to come out. I’ve been meaning to watch Homeland also! I heard so many good things about it too!
Erin @ Erin's Inside Job says
House of Lies is also a good one. Why they have such similar names I dont know, but it just came back after it’s winter break so we will prob start watching it again. I liked the first season of Scandal, but then it just got absurd and I couldn’t stand Oliva’s facial expressions. Oh well!
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
Those biscuits remind me of Red Lobster’s Cheddar Bay Biscuits! Working as a hostess at Red Lobster was my first job, so I had pleeeenty of those things. I still love ’em to this day!
Oh man, addicting TV shows…there’s been a few too many. 😉 LOST, Friday Night Lights, The Following (what we’re currently watching), among a few others. This is why Netflix is such a bittersweet thing!
Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves says
Mmm biscuits + cheese = happiness. I had the BEST cheese biscuits in Florida at a restaurant at the Disney Hyatt called Hemingway’s. It was magical for sure.
I only really watch Food Network, but I find Chopped very addicting!

So my husband and I wanted to try Homeland but was concerned it’s a bit too risqué. Is it? Just curious! We love Scandal and House of Cards too!

the cheddar biscuit looks delish! I have a slight infatuation with Red Lobsters Biscuits… so good..

We just binged watched The Walking Dead. Can’t wait for the new season to start in a few weeks!
Eva @ All Books Considered says
We are watching Boardwalk Empire right now and it is !!!
I felt that way with Downton Abbey, House of Cards, OITNB, and Homeland!!
Margeaux Vittoria says
I just saw the preview for the third season of House of Cards (February 27th, I believe) and got super excited! It’s going to be hard not to binge-watch it all in one sitting like I did with the first and second seasons.
EmilyAnne says
I am currently watching Downton Abbey and Game of Thrones. I am a little behind I know.
hmwlyman says
Oh dear where to start? 24 definitely, Chuck, Burn Notice, a little bit of Lost right now but it got weird, Alias (that was just me, I was too anxious so I never waited for Ryan (my husband) to get off work before I started more episodes haha.) There are too many to count! We get addicted easily haha
Eva says
how i met your mother! literally could not stop watching when i started it a few years ago. i was a sophomore in college and i distinctly remember finishing the first 4.5 seasons in the last 3 days of winter break. may be my greatest college accomplishment.
😉

I want to start watching Homeland! We live in Charlotte too – I’ll have to try those biscuits!! We get sucked into way too many shows, but as of late we’ve been watching Friends on Netflix! My husband’s never seen it, so it’s been awesome watching it alongside him!

We’ve watched all of House of Cards as well! Our other addiction (other than my Downton Abbey) is Game of Thrones. I seriously had dreams about that show and some serious withdrawals once we binge watched all four seasons. I think we’ll probably let this next season record on the DVR so we can watch the whole season at once – I’m no good at waiting a week for episodes anymore!
Aspasia Luster says
We’re addicted to Homeland too! Since we have the Showtime app, we decided to try the show and now we’re hooked. Claire Danes has always been my favorite actress since My So Called Life. Alas, another school semester has started and I will be working on a 12-page archaeology term paper so my TV viewing over the next few months is going to be limited.
