It’s Wednesday and we’re already halfway through the workweek. Not too shabby, huh? I hope your morning hasn’t been too hectic so far!
Before we dive into breakfast, let’s back up a bit to yesterday…
I meant to check in again later yesterday afternoon after my visit to Caitlin’s house, but I got called back into work at the gym when a coworker went home sick. (Is everyone sick where you are right now, too!?) So, I didn’t get a chance to post my usual second post of the day, but now we’re back in action!
My extended mid-day break was a great one because it gave me a chance to see Caitlin and drop off a (gluten-free + vegetarian) lasagna, visit with her sweet son Henry and meet her adorable baby girl, Claire. Plus, I got to see my old furry buddies, Caitlin’s dogs Maggie and James and her beautiful gray cat Ferguson!
I wish I got to see the Boyle gang more often! (Though Caitlin and I both live in the Charlotte area, we live on opposite ends of the outside of the city and our houses are nearly 50 minutes apart.) Meeting Claire was such a treat because she really is the smiliest little girl. I visited with Caitlin for a little less than two hours before heading out and back into work.
On my way back to the gym, I couldn’t resist popping into Sunflour Baking Company for a fresh sharp cheddar biscuit.
Ryan and I first discovered Sunflour during our top-secret trip to Charlotte when he was interviewing for his new job and immediately loved the atmosphere of the local family-owned bakery and café. Yesterday’s cheddar biscuit was just as delicious as I remembered and served as the perfect midday pick-me-up.
I spent the rest of the afternoon and early evening working at the gym before heading home, digging into sloppy joes for dinner and crashing on the couch with Ryan and two episodes of Homeland.
Today
Ryan and I opted to sleep in today again (yes, we fell victim to staying up too late watching Homeland again) and since I’m not teaching any classes today, I’m hoping to be able to use my lunch break at the gym a little early today to squeeze in an afternoon workout of my own.
But first things first: Breakfast!
Today’s morning meal included a breakfast sandwich with Swiss cheese, egg whites and turkey bacon, served with a sliced Pink Lady apple.
Plus some raw almonds that I snacked on while putting together the above plate!
Have a wonderful Wednesday, my friends!!
Question of the Morning
- What TV shows have you watched in the past that you found totally addicting?
House of Cards basically ran our lives until we made it through every episode last year. That show is so, so good! Scandal also totally sucked me in when I first started watching it.
Caitlin F. says
Hi Julie!
Homeland is definitely worth staying up for as was Breaking Bad, and Lost back in the day!
Michelle @ Fit. Flexible. Fabulous. says
Um, we’re counting down the days until 2/27. Are you excited for the new season!?
Julie says
YESSSSSSSSSSS!
Kelly Runs for Food says
Everyone is sick up here too. I just got over a bad cold a couple days ago! I’m super excited for the new House of Cards season. I just started watching the Blacklist on Netflix and that’s pretty good!
Mackenzie Farone-Waite says
Sunflour baking company is my favorite coffee place in Charlotte. Their food is delicious, their coffee is amazing and the atmosphere is great. We go there after 5ks a lot or a good run around the area. Glad you discovered it!
Traci says
Addicting TV shows: House of Cards, Breaking Bad, 24 {an oldie, but we started watching it last year on Netflix}.
kaitlin @4loveofcarrots says
Parenthood is soo addicting! I binge watched it in like 3 weeks until I was caught up to the current season! I am kind of sad I watched it so quickly only because its on its last season.
Kat says
I first started Homeland by binging on the entire first season in a few days. Now we have Showtime (our only cable splurge) just to keep up with it. I also was addicted to Downton Abbey, Scandal, and Revenge. I’m a little afraid to start getting into another show where I can stream all the episodes because once I start I have a hard time stopping!
Julie says
totally forgot about downton abbey! definitely another favorite of mine!
Sarah @ KS Runner says
Elementary sucked us in one summer and now we are in love with it. Same with How to Get Away With Murder. I want to watch House of Cards and Homeland…they are on the list! Now if we just had more time… 🙂
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment says
Homeland was one for me. That and Breaking Bad. Total addiction for me last winter!
Beks says
I’m watching Friends on Netflix now, and am on Season 4. Phoebe just got pregnant, and I think Ross is about to meet Emily (I’ve never seen the show in chronological order before!).
Julie says
season 4 is the best!!!! my fav episode is the one where it’s the boys vs. the girls and they play for monica and rachel’s apartment. so, so funny!! 🙂
Anna L. says
Desperate housewives was super addicting!
Courtney {Alkeks Abroad} says
Homeland, scandal and house of cards for us too. I like binge watching parenthood when it’s just me, same with how to get away with burger. In college I watched like 5 seasons of weeds in a couple weeks but that’s when I could stay up past 12.
Courtney {Alkeks Abroad} says
Murder not burger, although that could be interesting…
skigirl0891 says
Sad to say the last show we were bananas about was Lost, and we watched it well after it was popular on DVD! Lately we are loving Stalker though 🙂
Heather @ farmgirlgonechicagoan says
Love Parenthood! So sad it’s ending. Friends episodes take me back to the college years. My roommates and I had the seasons in DVD. Addicting!!
Catherine Cormier says
My hubby and I started watching 24 this fall. Soooo good!! It’s hard to not binge watch but at the same time each season has so many episodes that it takes forever to get through. We’re finally on Season 8 and then we’ll watch the special season (called 24: Live Another Day). I don’t know what I’ll do with all my free time when the we finish watching the series.
Julie says
we were really into breaking bad, too!
Livi @ Eat, Pray, Work It Out says
I miss biscuits so much now that I can’t eat gluten! That looks amazing!!

Can I ask what type of turkey bacon is that? It looks sooo much better (and not as dried out) as stuff I find….
Julie says

Ditto. I just finished the last, or mud season finale. So anxious for new episodes.

Oh my gosh we are obsessed with the Blacklist, it starts back right after the Super Bowl and we are counting down! Ya’ll should check it out, the first season is on Netflix!
Random question, do you just microwave the turkey bacon?
Sabrina Alexandra says
My boyfriend and I are all about Gotham right now. He also just finished binge watching Parks and Rec so he would be prepared for the final season; which started lasted night.
Liv @ Healthy Liv says
Scandal IS addicting! I think the most addicting show I’ve watched has to be 24- so good and every episode sucks me in.
That cheddar biscuit looks incredible!
Bethany says
those cheddar biscuits look incredible!!!

Orange is The New Black took over my life for a few weeks earlier this year. And now Criminal Minds is doing the same thing! I just need a month off of work to catch up on all this good TV and I’ll be good 🙂

Leah (goodnight cheese) says
Breaking Bad was totally addicting, but some episodes were so intense that it felt like you needed to recover before watching another one. Same with House of Cards.
Heathers Looking Glass says
Grey’s anatomy. Still going strong with that one. Also 19 kids and counting. Sucks you in!

Lindsey says
Oh my goodness… Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, Revenge, Parenthood, and Friday Night Lights!!! And the first three seasons of Glee.
Apparently I need to cancel my Netflix subscription and get off my couch! 🙂

Mary says
We are REALLY into our TV box sets. My favourites are Dexter, Desperate Housewives, Prison Break and Orange is the New Black.

Back in the day Lost was MY LIFE. It’s still one of my favorite shows ever. If you haven’t watched it from start to finish, I highly recommend it.

House of Cards for sure! I also fell victim to binge watching Gilmore Girls when Netflix picked up it a few months ago.

Rachel @ Blonde with a Chanse says
Your breakfast always looks so darn good!! Right now I am absolutely LOVING Once Upon A Time! I like how the story line is awesome and it is a good, clean show 🙂
Courtney! @ Redefining Athlete says
Definitely House of Cards and Orange is the New Black, but
I think our most pathetic binge was Parks and Rec. We went through like 6 seasons in less than a month.
I also went through a hard Felicity faze in 2012. I was almost disowned by the husband, so I try to pick shows now that we both like, haha.
Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona says
Sloppy joes are one of my favorites! I haven’t had them in awhile, I might have to make them sooner rather than later now.
Whenever Mad Men is on it always draws me in. It’s a good thing I can’t watch it on demand or else I’d never get anything productive done!
Leslie @ Life Begins at 30? says
We binge watched Dexter on Netflix. OITNB was another one that I got totally sucked into!! There is a creepy show on Netflix called Hemlock Grove that is kind of interesting, but a little gory for my taste…the hubs loves it.
alicia y says
Sons of Anarchy! I did not expect to like it but I gave it a shot on Netflix and am so addicted. I have been staying up way too late binge watching it.

Isn’t it awesome that Kevin Spacey won a Golden Globe for HOC? Oh and we’re way into Weeds right now!
Nona @ RunningHigh says
Without a doubt, Game of Thrones is the most addicting show I’ve ever fallen victim too. It’s so good!
Emily @ Sweet Summer Smiles says
