My dad had a dinner meeting this evening, so my mom, sister and I used his absence as an excuse not to cook.
Chipotle burrito bowls for everyone!
With pork and guacamole, puh-lease!
Unfortunately Chipotle still has yet to add my fantastic menu item brainchild, the Chipurro, to their selection. C’mon guys. Get your act together.
The Cookiepedia
Since I didn’t do any cooking at dinnertime, I found myself in the mood to play around in the kitchen after we were done eating.
A couple of weeks ago I was sent The Cookiepedia by Stacy Adimando to review.
My sister and I were big-time fans of the overall design of the book. It had a vintage feel and was just plain cute!
Wouldn’t it make a wonderful bridal shower gift?
I think the images in this book would also make adorable prints. Very Etsy-ish…. and you know I love Etsy. (I miss my wedding planning days when I would spend hours on Etsy looking for inspirational ideas! I even bought my veil from an Etsy retailer. Remember the “Psycho Bride” story? Oh, the good ol’ days…)
I wanted to make some yummy cookies to send to a friend and when I stumbled upon the everything-but-the-kitchen-sink cookies, I was sold!
After creaming the butter and the sugar and adding in vanilla, eggs and flour, we had some faaantastic dough on our hands.
The cookies call for a cup of sweet mix-ins and a cup and a half of salty mix-ins of your choice.
I had a great time selecting my mix-ins and in the end went with:
- White chocolate chips
- Semisweet chocolate chips
- Chopped Reese’s peanut butter cups
- Chopped pecans
- Crushed pretzel thins
After 16 minutes in the oven, we had freshly baked cookies on our hands!
I love cookies with lots of stuff crammed in them! After I boxed a bunch up for my friend, my mom, sister and I went to town and ate ourselves into sugar comas.
The only cure for a sugar coma? Bed.
Okay, not really. We figured it would be a good idea to take Sadie on a nice 30 minute walk to settle our stomachs and get a little exercise after downing lots of dough.
I think she was more than happy to serve as our excuse to get out of the house and enjoy the fresh (but still hotter than Hades) air.
And now it really is time for bed. After Jersey Shore, of course.
Man I need to get some cookies in my life!
That book is adorable. I love kitchen sink cookies. Next time I highly recommend chips potato chips for some extra crunch and sweet and salty flavor.
*just potato chips 😉
What an awesome combo of mix ins! That book looks so fun! 🙂
Aw, you’re making me want to be with my mom & sister – baking & eating cookies. While I know you and Ryan are not in an ideal situation regarding housing – I think it’s great that you are able to enjoy some time with family!
Holy crap! Now I am having a major cookie craving, those look delish! Lucky I’m out of butter or I would be firing up the kitchen-aid right now.
Cookies with pretzel pieces inside them??!?!
…I almost took a bite out of my screen. Doubt it would taste like an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink cookie, but a girl can dream, yes?
If you’re ever in NY, go to the Momofuku milk bar and get the “compost cookies”–similar to your evenings cookies.
They are amazing! Full of pretzels, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, potato chips, and whatever else…
My beau and I recreated them a couple of times and it was just as fun coming up with new ingredients to add as it was to eat them (well, not quite–eating them is better). We’d get wacky with coffee grounds and pretzel crisps and m&m’s…
I’m drooling just thinking out it.
THOSE COOKIES LOOK AWESOME. Peanut butter + chocolate + pretzels in a cookie form = best thing everrrr.
Wow, those cookies look awesome and totally delicious! The dough alone is making me salivate 🙂
Dogs are such a good excuse for some after dinner/cookie walks!
Oh man, those cookies look like my kinda cookie! If you’re like me when I make cookies, one spoon full of dough goes on the cookie sheet, one spoon full in my mouth, one spoon full on the cookie sheet…. 😉
that book design is adorable! it reminds me of children cook books (which are my favorite)! They’re so much easier to follow, include tons of fun-to-do recipes, and the pages are always full of awesome colors, funky pictures, and big writing!
Those cookies look super yum. 🙂
Looks like a lovely evening!
What a cute book!!
o wow, now those sound like my kind of cookie!! All my favs rolled into one sweet decadent treat. I have to try this out ASAP!
Love Chipotle! I always get the vegetarian burrito bowl with guac!!
LOVE Chipotle! And those cookies! YUM!!!
Oh mannn those cookies! YUMMMMYYY!
Freebirds > Chiptole for me for sure haha 🙂
i love putting crushed pretzels in my kitchen sink cookies..it’s that salty/sweet combo that’s just amazing. BTW, how do you get your cookies so thick? Did you refrigerate the dough before you baked them…these look sooo good! (especially because I skipped dessert tonight…a rare occurrence!)
Ahhh! I love Chipotle! I now always put lime in my rice when I make Mexican (naturally, I pronounce it May-he-can) because of them. We don’t have one where we live.
Also, those cookies are huge!
Finally, fellow peanut butter lover, if you want to try and score some free gourmet pb tomorrow, it is the last day I am doing my giveaway, so come by and check-a-it out! sunnykatie.wordpress.com
That book looks adorable! Sometimes I get lost in recipes with SO much writing and detail, but that looks simple enough!
I would definitely want to put potato chips in my cookies…I am taking a hiatus from sweets right now and carbs which is SO hard for me. But I am surviving on sugar free sweets and sugar free saltwater taffy from the Jersey Shore. I am giving it two weeks to jumpstart my diet…but reading all the food blogs that I do, makes me salivate for treats!
Darn….and I thought I came up with the name “Kitchen Sink Cookies”…!!
Must get my patenting skills on sooner! 🙂 Anyway, they look divine! My personal fav “unexpected” mix-in is Ritz crackers. Try it next time… they are rich, salty, and buttery! Yummo!
That cookbook is so cute! 🙂 Sweet and salty is the best combo ever!
Cookie with tons of ingredients are the best. No, I take that back– BROWNIES with tons of ingredients are the best 😀
I might just have to get that book after seeing those cookies!!
Kitchen sink cookies are the best! I’m just like you–I love lots of mix-ins in one cookie! However, I have found that I can’t make these kinds of cookies too often because I end up eating them all at once…not such a great idea!
I ate chipotle for dinner last night and blogged about it too. lol http://www.healthgirltv.com/2011/08/clutter-be-gone.html that place is so awesome. And the cookies…oh gosh, I have been doing a slight citrus cleanse and now I want chocolate…btw thanks for your bloggy helper tuesday posts–those are seriously informative.
That book is adorable! And I need those cookies…now.
I’ve just started following your blog and I love it! Thanks for posting such great workouts, recipes, funny stories, and I love your fashion. I don’t blog much about my workouts, my blog is just about my family. I just had a baby and I’m so eager to get back into running. But I find myself struggling at night. . . maybe you’ve touched on it before and i haven’t fully stalked you enough yet haha but do you ever struggle with late night snacking? Do you have any suggestions? I’ve lost 15 lb of my 20lb baby weight, and I don’t want to jeopardize my progress.
what’s your tip for baking cookies that stay thick??? Whenever I bake them they always flatten out and are super thin 🙁
Those look amazing! I love cookies that include so many different types of things in them. I rarely think of the salty component, but that’d be a great compliment. Cookie, cookie, cookie
One another note for Chipotle – COME TO CANADA!!! 🙂
I need those cookies in my life..they wouldnt last long but I still need them ASAP!
Oh my goodness, that Chipolte bowl is calling to me, lol! 😛 It looks sooo appealing and appetizing…I love all the colours! And those cookies? Awesome 🙂 Hope you had a lovely walk with the woof! <3 xyx
That book looks so cute! And now I’m craving Chipotle…
I can tell that I would love this book just by the few snapshots you showed us! Kitchen Sink cookies sound pretty fantastic too!
Those cookies look delicious.
Those look awesome! I love cookies stuffed with all kinds of goodness.
love chipotle salads like that. they should really add tofu to their menu, though!
I just baked cookies with some pretzels in them a couple of weeks ago. Who knew the salty/sweet combo could be so delicious?!
super awesome looking , super awesome looking cookies. what a great idea, the whole sweet and salt combo. never would have thought if it…thanks for sharing!!!
That title for the cookies is hilarious! Great recipe, they look to good 🙂
That looks like an awesome cookbook!!!!! And delicious cookies! 😀
I like that layout for the cookbook! Super cute 🙂
Okay, I know this is gonna sound weird and nitpicky, but there is something pink in your dough! Did you add pinkish mixins? Because they would be super cool 🙂
yeah chipotle!
Pork + guacamole = YES PLEASE! I wouldn’t cook either if I could have that for dinner.
I’m loving that cookie book! It is super cute, you are right. And nice call on adding Reese’s cups to them. We can’t get Reese’s here and it breaks my heart…so I just have to make my own.
One of my mom’s best friends moved to Ocala, and we vacationed there a few times and almost bought a house there. I wish we had because I love the area. We are major horse people and every single place we looked at had it’s own barn with huge pastures. My kinda place!
Oh man. Those are my kinda cookies through and through. I need them!
Those cookies look super-yum! I love to add a million things to my batter, too.
