Sadie says a very enthusiastic HELLOOOO to all of you!
I’ll be honest, I felt like I was in a bit of a funk for a bit this weekend but thankfully by Sunday I was feeling a little more like myself. For the past week or two, I feel like my moods have been a bit of a rollercoaster. Can I blame this on pregnancy hormones!? Yeesh!
On Friday evening, I called a babysitter to watch Chase and finally made a much-needed appointment to get my hair done. Since Ryan was out of town traveling again during the last half of last week, I kept waffling back and forth about whether or not to actually spend the money and book a babysitter and in the end decided it was worth it because my hair has been bothering me for a while now. After 10 months of neglect, the balayage was so grown out that I could only really wear it up or curled without it looking two-toned so I entered the salon ready for a little refreshing!
I started coloring my hair for the first time when Chase was almost a year old and remember being absolutely shocked by how LONG the process takes! (The time commitment and the cost are a huge part of why I opted for balayage in the first place since it’s so low maintenance.) I was at the salon for just over three hours on Friday evening and when the woman doing my hair began to blow it dry, I quickly realized something wasn’t quite right. I felt like my hair looked like it was dyed an almost reddish-blonde at the roots and didn’t have that subtle dark blonde to light blonde fade I associate with balayage in my hair. I tried my best to express my concerns in a very kind way but in the end I felt so awkward saying anything too negative and felt like I was almost talked into liking my hair as I was leaving the salon.
Once I got home and put Chase to bed, I began washing my face and it became increasingly clear I just wasn’t happy with my hair. Have any of you guys been through this? Did you say anything?
I felt so uncomfortable when I thought about calling the salon back to explain my issues with my hair and I even ended up Googling what to do if you don’t like your hair when you leave a salon. Can you tell I hate confrontation like this!? Yeesh. I think I kept waffling back and forth on whether or not to call the salon because my hair really isn’t THAT bad and this really isn’t THAT big of a deal. My hair is not a total disaster but it’s also not at all what I wanted and so I ended up calling the salon on Saturday afternoon and doing my very best to politely explain my concerns. They were incredibly kind and I have an appointment to (hopefully) get everything fixed on Wednesday. Now to secure a babysitter again…
Saturday
Saturday morning was rainy and cloudy in Charlotte. Thankfully Chase and his enthusiasm put a smile on my face and when he seemed content to simply hang out at home in our pajamas on Saturday morning, I followed his lead. We had such a nice morning filled with nothing special but it was slow-paced and wonderful.
We prepped some sesame honey chicken in the crock pot for dinner on Saturday night and made two batches chocolate sprinkle crinkle cookies from Jessica’s new cookbook, The Pretty Dish. I was recently sent an advance-copy of the cookbook (I’ve LOVED Jessica’s blog for years) and it’s a gorgeous book filled with a ton of recipes I’m dying to make!
I knew Chase would love the sprinkle cookies since sprinkles are pretty much his favorite food, so we prepped the dough, let it chill and then baked the cookies right before nap time. While the dough was chilling, we colored and made a welcome home sign for Ryan and then I did a little cleaning around the house while Chase seemed content to play with his toys.
I think the highlight of Chase’s rainy day morning was our lunchtime “picnic” on the dinosaur blanked my mother-in-law recently sent to him. (Diane and Ryan’s grandmother made the blanket for Ryan when he was a little boy.)
Chase was SO pumped about the indoor picnic idea and I love the way toddlers think the simplest things are just the coolest! Between Chase and Sadie I’m constantly reminded to notice and appreciate the tiniest things in life that bring about so much joy. Kids and dogs are just the best for that, aren’t they!?
When Chase went down for his nap, I worked on the computer until Ryan arrived back in town. We missed him a bunch while he was away and it’s good to have him home again!
We ended up wrapping up our Saturday at the evening service at our church before heading home to eat dinner and climb into bed early. I began reading The Alice Network and I’m enjoying it a lot so far.
Sunday
Sunday morning began with oatmeal and errands! Ryan and I are slowly switching the light bulbs in our house over to LED so they’re more efficient and cost-effective in the long run but MAN it is a process to get the two of us to agree on lighting. I like a much softer, slightly more yellow light and I’m pretty sure Ryan wants our house to look like a sterile operating room under crisp, blue lights so agreeing on the perfect bulbs for our kitchen and living areas has been a bit… challenging.
When we arrived at Lowe’s to exchange our second batch of LED bulbs, the people behind the customer service counter started laughing at us and told us our predicament is apparently a “very common couple problem.” We left with new bulbs to try but not before we spent some time “driving” the tractors in the garden section with Chase.
His imagination cracks me up lately because he’d yell things like, “Mom! There are goats on your tractor! Go away goats! Go back to your barn!” Who knew rabid, tractor-attacking goats were in his imagination wheelhouse?
Once we made it back home, Ryan had plans to meet up with a friend at the gym, so Chase, Sadie and I played in the backyard until we came in and continued to decorate Chase’s cardboard “cruise ship.” We had a giant cardboard box leftover from a delicious meal we had catered at our house from Whole Foods a couple of weeks ago and I’m pretty sure I should stop buying two-year-olds legitimate gifts for their birthdays and just wrap up a giant cardboard box because that thing is GOLD in Chase’s eyes.
Once Chase was settled down for his nap – we’ll call it “quiet time” because he definitely didn’t sleep but chatted away to his stuffed animals – I worked on the computer and then began prepping some food for the week ahead thanks to the groceries Ryan picked up on his way home from the gym.
Here’s a little glimpse at our menu for the week ahead:
- Monday: Paleo Pizza Spaghetti Pie (making a double batch because I’m bringing this to a friend who had a baby a week ago as well!)
- Tuesday: Trout with Roasted Sweet Potatoes and Brussels Sprouts
- Wednesday: One Pot Chicken Cabbage Bowl with Sesame Ginger Broth (PLEASE make this if you haven’t already!)
- Thursday: Cheesy Lentil Bolognese
- Friday: Out
Chase was up after about an hour, so our whole gang headed outside for some golf-inspired afternoon playtime with Chase’s mini golf club, inspired by The Masters.
The evening ended on a high note with ice cream on the couch before we all headed upstairs to do the bed time thing.
I hope you all have a fantastic Monday!
Emily @ Pizza & Pull-Ups says
Sorry about your hair! I have been pretty fortunate with hair appts (knock on wood), but would definitely struggle with what to do in that situation, good job calling to get it taken care of. Hope you have a great day!
Nina says
I laughed out loud at Chase’s goat comment – “Go away goat!”!! My daughter is the same age and does the same thing! We’ll be in the car and she says “Mom, there’s a bug near me! Go away bug!” Or at bedtime she’ll repeat it about a ghost. Toddlers ?
Julie says
Yes!! He does this with dinosaurs in the car! “There’s a dinosaur coming, MOM! Watch out!!” I love the way their minds work!

Unrelated sidebar: How did you like the vegan mac and cheese from your meal plan last week? I tried it and thought it was good (still not comparable to real mac and cheese but salsa took it to the next level!). I’m forever chasing the vegan mac of my dreams 😉

I totally am the same with hating confrontation but I also had a bad experience with a balayage and did end up calling the following morning because my unhappiness with the end result plus the pretty penny you pay for it outweighed my fear of being uncomfortable telling them I wanted it fixed. Luckily I was able to get it fixed that next day BUT the really awkward part was the same girl that originally did it, had to fix it…it was just awkward, lol. I have since changed salons;) I hope it works out the way you want it to on Wednesday! Happy Monday:)
Pamela says
Not much help, but this is the reason I stopped getting my hair colored. While I LOVED it most times, the times I didn’t, I REALLY didn’t. So I have learned to love my natural dirty blonde. Some days the pictures of the beautiful highlights and balayage temp me, but then I remember. I hope you get it fixed!
Laura says
Haha, yes the wild imaginations of toddlers. My favorite is listening to my daughter read her book to herself in bed and then repeat random things from the day as she’s settling in for bedtime. Though she has some of her books memorized because we’ve read them so much, I like listening to her narrate the ones she doesn’t know well just based off the pictures 🙂

Relaxing weekends in are the best sometimes! Yesterday I didn’t get out of my pjs until 4, which so is not like me! I love starting my mornings reading your blog. It brings giggles to my morning and gets it started on such a positive note.
Stephanie says
I am glad you called the salon back to explain the situation with your hair! I had a similar experience recently with my hair when I asked my stylist (who I have been seeing for a few years now) for a few face-framing highlights. I left the salon with what looked like (to me) two white-blonde streaks in the front of my hair, which was not really the look I was going for. Anyway, I did not say anything at the salon, but after going home and washing/styling it myself, I was not happy and called back for an appointment later in the week. I was not charged and she was able to fix it without a problem! I, like you, am not a fan of confrontation but when you are likely paying quite a bit for the color/cut and wanting to feel and look good, it is worth it to get it fixed! I would love to see a photo of the finished product!
Lauren says
If you are not happy with your hair, you should definitely say something. I’m glad you called to make a “fix” appointment.
You are paying for a service, if you are not happy the stylist is responsible for making it right.
I hope this fix works for you!
Sara says
I’m always terrible with saying I’m unhappy with something. Then, I recently just didn’t love the cut my stylist did. I’ve been seeing her for a while and knew I didn’t like it before I left, but didn’t say anything and figured I could maybe style it differently. Long story short, I couldn’t, and I hated it every day for the 6 weeks between appointments. When I went for my next cut I just mentioned that I maybe wanted to try a different style, she saw right through that comment and asked why I didn’t say anything that day, or call to come back in and she would have fixed it up. I said that I felt weird doing that and didn’t want to hurt her feelings. She said that her job is to make me happy, and if I’m not happy and I don’t say anything, I’m not letting her do her job. That kind of put a different spin on it and I hope to speak up next time! Good luck!
Kaitlyn @ Powered by Sass says
Confrontation can be super awkward, but it’s 100 percent worth it in the end. About a year ago, I got my balayage freshened up and when I got home, I noticed it wasn’t quite balayage and definitely not as blonde as I wanted it. I didn’t hesitate to send an email kindly explaining my predicament. The salon graciously offered a re-do at no cost. The appointment was a month later, due to concern dying my natural dark brown hair too frequently and I was left with the color I originally asked for. With a price tag of $250 here in Old Town Alexandria, I’d expect nothing less of the salon ensuring their clients are happy! – Kaitlyn | http://www.poweredbysass.com

Ugh so sorry about your hair! When you don’t get it done very often, you definitely want it to be what you want! I’m glad you called and they’re going to fix it so you’re comfortable with it. I got so lucky with my hair lady – I just show her a bunch of pictures and she figures it out thankfully!
Mrs. B says
I am a semi platinum blonde. One time when I was in college, the lady started blow drying freshly highlighted hair and it was … light pink. I was like… So my hair looks like it has a pink hue to it. She told me “Oh it is just the shampoo I used, wash it a couple of time at home and it will be gone.” Well, I washed my hair about 20 times in 2 days and still had pink hair. Come to find out, she just messed up. Accidents happen but it makes me frustrated when they brush it off when you have a legitimate concern…
Your light situation. I think I have PTSD from choosing can light colors. We just finished building a house. Husband wanted the lights so freaking bright and blue that you felt like you were being interrogated. I of course wanted a warm but clean color. Anyways, I won. 🙂
Whitney says
Oh I have been there with the hair!! I’m a blonde too and somehow red got in my hair when I said nothing about red. Not going to lie red is harder to correct and it took me a couple sessions to get it back to normal. Also damaged my hair! Ugh hopefully you have better luck. You did the right thing by calling the salon to get it worked out. You should always be happy with a service you pay good money for?
Julie says
I was so surprised by the red! I’ve never even been a strawberry blonde so I am definitely struggling with the reddish roots!
Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona says
I totally feel you on the hair situation. It’s tough when you don’t get what you ask for. Probably 10 years ago I got some terrible bangs. It definitely wasn’t a fun situation. Looking back now, I wish I had called the salon to explain the situation. Instead I spent 6 weeks with bangs that I absolutely hated.
Leah says
Hey Julie! The lighbulb discussion is pretty real to us in my house too! There are some seriously helpful posts on younghouselove.com about all things light bulb related – here was one that led us out of a spiral of researching light bulbs for 3 months – https://www.younghouselove.com/2018/03/best-led-light-bulbs/
Happy lighting!
Bethany says
SO MUCH YES. Hair appointments have caused me much stress throughout the years as I have tried hard to maintain the blonde I want. It seems that every time I went in for a highlight it would look different every time and I would cringe and hope it would fade out in a few days to what I want. Sometimes I would say something or try to get it fixed, but the majority of the time I would just wait it out and usually my hair would blend after a few washes. Usually trying to get it fixed resulted in it becoming worse, because it was so hard to communicate to the hairstylist what exactly I WANT. Its super frustrating…..You are not alone and I hope you can get your hair fixed to what you want! I suggest bringing in a photo of your goal maybe?
Also, we are currently picking lighting for our home too! ha!! The softer yellow lighting we currently have is not quite bright enough for me– but I think its because our home doesn’t get enough natural light through windows. So if you have plenty of natural light, I bet the softer, yellow lights would be perfect. Good luck! I love your daily updates! 🙂
Byrnn says
This just happened to me too!! I got balayage yesterday and I don’t like it! When she blow dried it, I could barely tell it had been dyed. I said something about it being very subtle and the stylist said it was the lighting. It feels like such a waste of money when I can barely tell she did anything. Also, when I look closely, it has a purple tone to it. I’m waffling on whether to call the salon because I can’t handle the awkwardness but I’m getting married in six weeks and want to like my hair!
Julie says
Yes!!! They blamed it on “the lighting” when I was there, too. And then when I got home, I couldn’t ignore the reddish tint at the roots so I called back. I hope you can get yours fixed and that we’re both happier with our hair soon!!
Marie says
I’m so glad you called the salon back. I’ve been with my stylist for 14 years now and I love her. There have been times when I’ve wanted something different and then changed my mind and came back and she’s always fixed it for me. In the beginning, I told her I felt bad about coming back and she told me I should never feel bad and that stylists want to make you happy and that you should go back to the stylist instead of going to a different one to fix. I’m sure it helps you were nice about it, too. 🙂 Have a great day, Julie!
Sara says
Julie, I hope you take a photo of your hair as it is now, then once it`s fixed I hope you show us the before and after pics!! Definitely bring in a picture to show them exactly how you expect your hair to look when they fix it. Have you ever used this stylist before? I hate situations like this too…they are so awkward! BUT, when you leave the hair salon, especially after the time and money you`ve spent, you should be feeling like a million bucks, not feeling let down. I`ve had some awful hair appointments (color x 2, cuts that were too short, and two of the worst style appointments ever for a wedding and a holiday party that I didn`t have any time to fix.) And don`t get me started on nail appointments! I once had my nails cut sooo short that I refused to pay, I bawled all the way home, and I never went to the salon again even though I`d gone weekly for 3 years! I tried a different salon for my nails 2 days before being induced and it was a disaster. I`ll never let anyone touch my nails ever again! Being a woman is tough!
Erinn says
My moods have been all over the place too lately!!
So sorry about your hair!! That is seriously the WORST…I’m so glad you called the salon and they are going to fix it….I hate confrontation too and have had bad experiences with my hair color before – not fun!
Hope you have a great Monday!
Sarah @ Sweet Miles says
Oh no!! I’ve totally been there though!! I’m glad you finally called and expressed your concerns, especially since getting your hair done ISN’T CHEAP!
jess says
Make sure to ask for toner for your hair!! They most likely missed this step which leaves the color super brassy/almost orange. Ask for a toner (its a purple wash they use when you’re in the shampoo bowl) and it will lift all the brassiness and leave your hair light white/blonde!!
Julie says
thank you for this tip!! i’ll definitely mention it. it definitely has an almost orange-y red hue at the top which is what is bothering me the most at the moment.
Tiffany says
That awkward moment when I’m reading your blog in Sky Mountain and Ryan comes and sits at the next table haha! In other news – definitely don’t feel bad about telling your stylist that you don’t like your hair color. There is a girl on youtube called Ellebangs and she said that stylist always want to know & to make it right. Hearing her say that made me feel much better about speaking up for myself!
Julie says
no way! love that!! he’s a friendly guy, so definitely say hi next time!! 🙂 whenever someone approaches him they usually say “are you peanut butter fingers’ husband?” instead of “julie” which makes us laugh!!
Kayla says
I’m so sorry about your hair! I have left my old hairdressers salon far too many times with unhappy feelings about my hair, and I even told her I hated it (only to get the same outcome so many times) so I completely understand! Luckily I have an awesome hairdresser now, but she tells me that if EVER I am unhappy with the way my hair turned out to always let her know and she will fix it. I know (most?) hairdressers don’t want their clients to be walking around with hair that isn’t up to their standards, especially since it is so pricey!! I am happy you voiced your concerns, especially since you were really looking forward to getting it done again! I hope you have a great Monday, Julie! Xoxo

So pumped you’ve begun The Alice Network! Finished it nearly 4 months ago and it is one of my absolute favorite books – the first and second World War era is my favorite period in history and this is based on a real espionage network. Definitely nerding out, but stick with it. Once I got to the middle, I couldn’t put it down. A really fantastic story of strength. Hope you enjoy, Julie!
Julie says
i am loving it right now! i read it again last night and i’m about 40% through now. can’t wait to read more tonight!

Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this yet but pregnancy hormones can cause hair dye to turn out totally different colors! My hair lady once had a blonde turn totally orange when she was pregnant using the same color they always use. Not sure if this was the case for you but I never forgot her telling me that.
Julie says
oh my gosh! really!? i never heard of that!
Ginger G. says
Yep! Heard the hormones even during your period can affect the color.
Rachel W says
Yes I had this issue when pregnant! My hair could not get the right color. After having my kid though, totally worked out fine!
Reenie says
I’ve heard that too!
Jillian says
I second this! And they can even change your hair after pregnancy too. My hair doesn’t take up color like it used to (it fades super fast) since I had my 2nd child almost 2 years ago. Hormones are crazy things!
Lauren says
Hi! Love your blog. Especially the recipes, meal planning, and book recommendations! Each book you suggest, I love and the recipes are great – even my husband likes them. We just booked our first trip to Charlotte in May so I’m going to search your site on things to do. We are in the Chicago suburbs and can’t wait for some warm weather. Have a great week!
jess says
oh the hair thing… i hear you.
i’m naturally a dirty blonde and loathe any warm tone to my hair. i’ve been told that my hair “pulls” red- so any time color is put in, i end up with a copper tone. i have no idea how real or true this is- but it’s happened again and again with different products at different salons… so now i’ll get highlights but nothing else. and i’ve had to be sure to request COOL toner- and specify i’d rather be purple / grey for a few shampoos than red / orange.
i’m not sure if color or cut is harder to correct. thank god it’s “just” hair. HA.
Whitney K says
I totally feel you on the hair disappointment. I have had the same hairdresser since I had hair to cut and sometimes he just gets it wrong when we highlight my hair. It doesn’t matter how well you know your hairdresser, it’s hard to express disappointment in general. Especially since it takes so long in the first place! So glad that you were able to say something and they are going to fix it for you. 🙂 Hope your redo is a better experience! I get mine done this Friday.
Reenie says
Was it a different stylist than when you had it done the first time? Just curious. Yes, I would definitely have them fix it ~ it’s not cheap. I have short hair and go every 5 weeks…. which cost at least (depends if she just touches up the roots or adds more blonde) $126.00!! And my nails done every 3 weeks. And I started having facials once a month. 😮
I like to quote Dolly Parton …”it takes a lot of money to look this cheap” 😉
Julie says
yes! my usual stylist is out on maternity leave so it was a new person. and i love that dolly parton quote — she’s hilarious!
Em says
I have been in the same boat with hair color. And I’m also super non-confrontational, to the point that I’d just leave with hair I don’t like instead of speaking up (I hate this about myself and am working on it!!!) It’s such an expensive and time consuming process that when it turns out not what you wanted, it feels like such a waste! You totally did the right thing by speaking up and asking them to fix it. I think salons are usually happy to do that because they want happy customers. I hope it comes out perfect this time, and if not, I would politely request a refund and find another salon next time. Good luck!
Keaghan says
I had my daughter 6 months ago, and had my hair cut right before I had her. The woman was clearly drunk (I was a drug sniffing dog and could smell her right away. She also wouldn’t stop singing Despacito so all the signs were there for me to run..) and I was terrified of saying anything. I hate confrontation! Anyway.. I left the salon with the worst cut and it was so crooked. I think your hair would look so nice if you cut it a couple inches below your shoulders in a long bob with face framing layers!
Rae says
Hey Julie, im a hair stylist and wanted to share a few thoughts it seems weird that your roots were affected by a balayage, if they added an all over color as well as the balayage I would defentitly insist you want only the balayge and no extra color added. Your hair is already so light it’s surpsrising it pulled red tones! Also 3 hours is a bit long to just touch up a balayge. Maybe request a stylist with more experience next time, and be really clear you don’t want any color added in only a balayage! I definitely think it’s good you went back!! So sorry you ended up unhappy!
Brittany says
Sorry to hear about your hair, but I’ve been there. In high school and college I colored my hair constantly and never had a problem. Then I stopped to grow it out to my natural color for our wedding. And then not long after our wedding I wanted to do something different. So I went to a new to me salon that was highly recommended and boy was I in for it. Although I asked for deep brown color, it came out more black/purple/red depending on the light. At the salon I was in love, but after a couple of days at home it wasn’t working and I didn’t want to leave the house. Thankfully the salon was pretty understanding and offered to help fix it at a reduced rate and they gave me a free manicure. Let’s just say, I never went back to the salon or that color again.
Ashley says
I had balayage about 6 weeks ago (my next appointment is next week) and the stylist told me we were just going to “freshen up” my blonder highlights. The result was full on XMen Storm hair. Like purply-silver. When she started drying it I freaked out and asked them to fix it then and there. I was NOT going for that look (even though it is really pretty on most people).
I’ve unfortunately had that happen alot as I have been coloring my hair since 6th grade. If you aren’t happy, tell them right away. I’ve had pink highlights (not on purpose), “skunk” stripe highlights, etc. TELL THEM. Especially since it’s so expensive. And they shouldn’t charge you to fix it. 🙂
Jamie says
Just went through the LED bulb process in our house, so we feel your pain!! The only bulbs we were able to find in store were the 2700 Kelvin (more of a traditional lightbulb color, yellow) or 5000 Kelvin (bright white/blue, sterile). We definitely wanted and whiter light than the original incandescent bulbs, but the 5000 color temperature was just too much. Check out Amazon…finally settled on the 4000 K which is a perfect balance for our kitchen, there’s really no yellow in it but its not so intense that you feel like you’re in a hospital. It was the perfect balance.
Julie says
Thank you for this tip! I’ll absolutely investigate. Who knew light bulbs could be such a dilemma!
Bethany @ Accidental Intentions says
Oh man, I’m TERRIBLE about being honest with stylists if I don’t like what they did. Of course, my complaints usually can’t be fixed by anything but time (it’s almost always that they cut my hair shorter than I requested/wanted), and I’m cheap and just get trims at Hair Cuttery, so whatever, it was like $30 and at WORST 60 minutes of my time. But even so, I feel so awful if I don’t like it that I can’t bring myself to say anything.
Tanya says
Ugh light bulbs! When we bought our house 2 years ago we started needing to buy new bulbs. We have 8 pocket bulbs in our living room and its been a nightmare trying to get them matched. We went to home depot several times as well. Finally we went to batteries and bulbs and they were SO much help. You can try them out there, they explain LED vs non LED and white vs not white. And they have a warranty on them. They even will recyle bulbs for you. I have had such great luck there.
Sorry about your hair. I got my hair cut 2 months ago and the women did a HORRIBLE job. And I didn’t say anything. complaining about services like that are so hard because you never know how they will “Fix” it.
Kelli @ Hungry Hobby says
thats the worst when that happens with your hair, you should always like what you get because it’s expensive and time consuming so it’s good you called back!
Kim from MN says
I had the exact thing happen with a haircut recently. And I’m just like you – I haaaate confrontation. But I got an expensive haircut from my stylist of almost 12 years and it was horrible (she was going through a really rough time in her personal life, and it showed up in my hair. That made confronting the issue even MORE AWKWARD.) I’m so proud of you for contacting the salon again – I ended up NOT contacting the salon because I am a scaredy cat and because my stylist was going through such a rough time I could tell that she would not even be receptive to this (my normally upbeat stylist spent a lot of our appointment growling about people and clients. So not like her! But she’d just gone through a divorce and one of her parents had just passed away literally 2 weeks before my appointment. I didn’t know any of this before going in.) Anyhow, I should have probably called, but I was just not up for it, and I am so sensitive about upsetting people when they’re having a hard time, which she clearly was. But I’m so glad you’re going back to your salon!
Love Chase on the tractor and the look of those cookies!! Yum!!!! I want ALL THE THINGS that are sugar. Thanks for another great recap as always. I love them a lot! <3

I just got mine redone too, wanting to go darker all over. It left looking exactly the same (blonde pony with dark roots). After debating for a few days, I called my stylist and made another appointment. Now it’s all blonde, all over.
Cut to me later that night, hysterically crying. (Because it’s just hair, and why am I this upset about HAIR?!?)

My two boys LOVE indoor picnic’! SO simple yet so much Joy! As far as your hair situation goes.. Did you have the same girl this time around as you did the first time you ever dyed your hair..? I would just suggest that you wanted it like that again.. also bring in a photo!!
Megan Todd says
My hair is considered ‘dirty blonde’ and only takes the orange/red when it is dyed. This has resulted in some hair disasters as you can imagine. One time I went to a really nice (ahem expensive) salon and asked for all over color that was close to my original hair color or a little lighter. I walked out looking like Ronald McDonald and when I complained I was ‘talked into it’ because I was told I had the best colorist and the problem was my hair and not them. I regret not standing up for myself.
Fiona MacDonald says
Oh gosh I know your hair dilemma far too well! I remember so many times having to be like ‘ummm yah this is waaay to light or waaay too dark’ colouring my hair! I always think, you’re paying for it and you’ve got to live with it so make sure you’re happy with it!
Ha I love Chase yelling at the goats! Sully always tells me to WATCH OUT FOR THE BEAR!!! He’s coming!!!! and then we have to run and hide away from the bear while he scolds the bear telling him to ‘go away!’ I love seeing their imaginations bloom!!!!
Glad Ryan is home , single parenting even for a short time is NO joke!!
Good luck with the hair appointment, I’m going today and always try to bring a picture of what I want so I know my intentions are clear! lol
