Since today’s breakfast was one you’ve seen a billion times on the blog (banana bread protein pancakes), I figured I’d recap yesterday’s morning meal instead since it was wonderful!
For the past three years, whenever I’ve mentioned that I’m taking a trip to Sanibel, a bunch of you comment telling me I must visit The Lighthouse Café for breakfast. Last year my family and I tried to go, but the wait was crazy-long, so we gave it another go this year since we were awake much earlier and figured we’d beat the crowds.
At 7:30 a.m., we had no trouble getting a table right away and immediately commented on the adorable lighthouse décor and cozy, comfortable atmosphere.
Ordering was rather easy since two of you said the whole wheat blueberry pancakes were phenomenal. I paired a giant pancake with two poached eggs, ham and buttered whole wheat toast.
It was such a delicious breakfast and the pancake recommendation was a great one. It tasted slightly nutty and the little baby blueberries added the perfect punch of sweetness.
We spent the rest of the morning walking on the beach before saying our goodbyes and heading home. Time in Sanibel always passes too quickly!
Workout
It was a chilly ride to the gym this morning!
Twenty nine degrees in Ocala! While I know that’s child’s play for many of you out there, for the Florida folks, 29 degrees is intense!
Luckily it didn’t take too long to get warm once my workout began thanks to Tina’s Best Body Boot Camp. Today kicked off the first week of Phase Four, the final phase of the boot camp program. It was an awesome workout that paired strength moves with 20 seconds of high knees or pulse squats with a 180-degree jump.
By far the hardest move of the workout for me was the crocodile walk. It didn’t look too intense in the video (probably because Lindsay is a champ), but oh my gosh, it was challenging.
Not a bad way to kick off the week!

Mmmm, those pancakes look delicious! One of my favorite vacations ever was two weeks in a condo in Sanibel. Since then, I’ve been back and gone through the nature reserve with my grandparents, but haven’t gotten to do much more exploring.
I would LOVE to go to a blogging conference sometime. I’d feel like a bit of a poser with my measly 200 followers, but I’m sure I would learn a TON of important information!
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
most blogging conferences are open to anyone! i’ve actually met a handful of people who were readers who simply wanted to start a blog at blogging conferences!
Ali @ Peaches and Football says
Agreed, those pancakes look outstanding! 29 in Florida is cold. I pity the vacationers who are down there his week hoping for a break from the Winter ice and snow and still have mornings below freezing! It’s seemed like a really, really wacky Winter though. Very odd temps all over the place!
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
That breakfast looks so great, and I love the atmosphere of that cafe. It is too cute!
Yay for blogger retreats. I was so happy to hear that the HLS will be in the Midwest this year. I am hoping that I can go!
Sarah @PickyRunner says
I wish some of the blogging retreats were on the east coast this year! I was really excited to potentially go to one! That pancake looks really good. I love ordering them in restaurants. They always come out so fluffy 🙂

Those blogging conferences look great! Hopefully I will be able to seriously consider one next year after I build my bog up a bit! 🙂
Jana @ Happy Wife Healthy Life says
I have wanted to go to blogger conferences for years, but have not yet had the opportunity! Both sound so fun to me, just gotta start saving some $$ 😉 Are you attending either blend or HLS this year?
Your breakfast looks great! Usually the cozy little local places always have the best food. I have never made poached eggs at home, but I love to order them when I eat out. I am adding that to my list of foods to make.

I live in South Carolina and feel the same way about the weather. I am always reading about people who run in such cold weather on blogs. When it is super cold here, well cold for South Carolina I am like wow this is nothing compared to them. I just can’t help it, down here we aren’t use to it always being so cold. I have to say though, 29 is coldanywhere!
Sara @ The Foodie Diaries says

Tiff @ Love Sweat and Beers says
My Monday is going well so far even though it’s pretty chilly here too. Then again, having the day off helps. 😉
Avery @ Southern Belle Living Well says
Haha, I’m sorry, but I find it hilarious how ya’ll are out and about having breakfast at 7:30am. I’m the earliest riser in my family, and you still probably wouldn’t find me out before 8. Oh well, I applaud ya’ll!

Ahh you Florida people. I’m beyond jealous, 29 degrees is a nice mild winter day around here! And that’s a high of 29, it’d be much colder in the wee hours of the morning. That crocodile walk looks intense…what did you use for “plates” at the gym?
Tamara @ Lively Happenings says
Hi Julie, thanks for the information about the Blogging Retreats! I’d love to go to Utah for a few days so I can learn more & have a mini vacation! (As always, your breakfast looks yummy!)

Bethany @ Accidental Intentions says
I’m in Chicago and I still think 29 sounds pretty chilly, so I can only imagine how cold it must feel to you Floridians! Ahhh all these blogging conferences look like so much fun…if only I had an unlimited supply of money and vacation time haha.

Oh, that is chilly for FL! Thanks for the blogging conference info. Being a travel/food blogger, I assume I would be an oddball at Blend, but please keep us posted on those. I really want to try one out soon. Have you ever been to a travel one? Any good ones you know of?
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
I remember going to the lighthouse cafe when I was in Sanibel, although I have zero recollection of what I got since it was about 12 years ago… Haha. And 29 is cold for Florida! It was just above freezing here in Chicago when I headed out for my run!

I am always so impressed by your ability to get up early for workouts! I have yet to find the right motivation to do the same (especially since I work from home)!
Julie @ Better Life with Burgers says
Oooh, that breakfast looks delicious! Nice to see whole wheat pancakes with some flavor (I feel like restaurants always have these delicious mix-ins for regular batter but never for whole wheat!). Those workout moves look crazy!!!

26 would be lovely in February here in Wisconsin! This morning it was 31, heat wave! 🙂 Just curious, do you have any posts regarding working out/establishing an early AM routine? I am looking to join a gym and know that my opportunity for a workout schedule would have to be in the morning but I’m not sure where to start with a routine!

What a cute breakfast place – your trip reminds me of my summers on Fire Island, everything is very quaint and beachy. I’m really looking forward to summer now, but I’d kill for 29 degree weather over 15 degrees!!

Shew cold is COLD. Plus we may have colder winters here but you’re in Florida so hotter SUMMERS. It’s easier to warm up than cool off

My sister’s in-laws camp every year from late December through April in Fort Myers and I know it has been pretty chilly there…Of course, I think anything is better than West KY in the winter (except when I was in Minot, ND for Thanksgiving one year).
That little restaurant looks absolutely precious…and delicious!
Stephanie @ Steph's Miles says
They literally have the BEST pancakes I have ever tasted. I also bought a t-shirt from the restaurant because I loved it there so much! Glad you had a chance to go!
