We started talking about how cool it was that we not only finished at the exact same time, but all of our splits were identical as well.
Then Ryan said, “I wonder how we placed.”
I knew what he meant.
I wonder who actually won.
We hurriedly opened up his laptop and entered our information into the Savannah Rock ‘n’ Roll results site.
Someone started gloating and that someone wasn’t me.
Not only did Ryan “beat” me according to the technical results, but another person somehow squeezed in between us with their identical time. (I feel like it was Sadie’s spirit. I swear that dog body slams into us whenever we try to hug without her.)
Don’t be fooled by the hand holding. One mile before the finish I was cursing Ryan and hating him for making me run that fast.
All was forgiven at the finish line.
Dinner
Dinner tonight was roasted chicken with veggies (and a bunch of granola that I ate while waiting for the chicken to finish cooking).
I prepared the chicken using the same incredibly simple recipe I used for the first time back in September, only I used thyme in place of the paprika.
I ate a breast, leg and lots of veggies and picked at the chicken at the table (so classy) before wrapping up the rest and storing it in the fridge to enjoy another day.
And now more of that granola is calling my name…
The Sing Off is on tonight!

Alyssa @ Life of bLyss says
that hand-holding. it’s adorable. next race I run, I’m grabbing the nearest dude at the finish line so I can have that cute of a finish line picture.

Love the photo of you two holding hands at the finish line. You should frame that if you can! What a fun memory together.
Your chicken looks delicious! I meant to try out the recipe you used last time you made one, and I completely spaced it. Thanks for the reminder! 😉

A man with cystic fibrosis proposed to his now fiance after the New York Marathon this weekend! I’d say they won that marathon: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/07/marriage-proposal_n_1080019.html
Sadie is most definitely the culprit! She just had to finish in front of you:)
Hope says
I love that picture of you and Ryan running across the finish line holding hands! Too cute 🙂
Your dinner looks delicious! I’ve been loving roasted chicken lately but I’ve been picking up a rotisserie chicken at the store. I should make one myself. It looks so good.
Paula @ Eat: Watch: Run says
I know that hand holding was so that girl behind you couldn’t get by. 😉
peanutbutterfingers says
you’re on to us.
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
Charlie doesn’t let us hug either – it’s horrible! He will jump on on top of us because he can’t stand to be left out. We call it “family time” when he comes and interupts our hugging.
It’s so funny that someone got in between the two of you in the overall placing!
Ellie@fitforthesoul says
hehe, love pic of you guys where you look like you’re shouting and raising your arms. 🙂 You guys are too cute. 😀 Oh btw, are you sure you didn’t just slow down for Ryan? 😉 haha just kidding.
Joelle (On A Pink Typewriter) says

Congrats on the race!!! I loved that you wrote that you snapped at Ryan, because I unintentionally snap at my fiance when we go running and then feel bad especially when we PR. Tis life and relationships!

Hahaha I’m the same way with Brandon … I’ll be all mean and snap at him in the middle of the long run, but then I’m loving him for his encouragement at the end! 🙂 Too funny! Congrats again on a great job!
peanutbutterfingers says
