I didn’t realize that The Bachelorette didn’t start until 9:30 p.m. last night and went until 11 p.m. What the heck is with the late start time!?
Since I figured the first half hour would be dedicated to recapping Emily’s previous journey and I didn’t feel like staying up late, I DVRed the episode and plan to watch tonight. For those of you who watched, are there any guys who caught your eye? I got a text from one of my girlfriends this morning telling me about a super sweet single dad.
Instead of watching The Bachelorette, I spent some time before bed wrapping up the PBF May Book Club book, Still Missing.
(For those of you who asked about my shoes in this picture last week, they are Nike Free Run in Tropical Twist and were a birthday present from Ryan.)
Has anyone else finished this book? The first half was really disturbing and almost too much for me, but I really liked the second half. It was intense and had an unexpected twist!
Workout
Since I got to bed nice and early thanks to DVRing The Bachelorette, waking up at 5 a.m. wasn’t too painful.
Ryan and I started our workouts with 10 minutes on the stair master and then I did 10 more minutes on the elliptical before completing a workout that I tore out of the June issue of Fitness magazine.
It was basically a total-body circuit workout, but it wasn’t too heavy on lower body movements which was a good thing since I just worked out my legs yesterday and my hamstrings are a little sore today!
Breakfast
Today’s breakfast was an old blog world favorite!
I remember when I first discovered healthy living blogs at the end of 2008, it seemed like everyone was making The Fitnessista’s breakfast cookie.
Last night as I was eating a spoonful of peanut butter, I remembered her peanut buttery breakfast cookie and pulled up the recipe on my phone and prepped it which made breakfast this morning a breeze.
I didn’t follow her recipe exactly (I added a bit more oats and peanut butter), but it came out great. After topping it with a sliced banana, I dug right in!
Question of the Morning
It’s a random one…
- If you had the opportunity (assuming you are single if you are not), would you ever want to be on The Bachelor or The Bachelorette?
I actually secretly submitted an application for one of my girlfriends to be on the show and she got a call back in February! She already started dating someone by the time they got back to her, so it didn’t work out, but we were pretty excited! (Her grandparents were horrified at the thought of her being in a hot tub with a bunch of guys on national television so they’re happy it’s a no-go.) The people from The Bachelor actually followed up with my friend a few times since then but she’s still happily in a relationship. Kinda cool!
Brittany says
ahhh.. I love bringing back old favorites. I need to make a breakfast cookie again soon. 🙂
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
That breakfast cookie looks good! I’ve never heard of it before but I’d love to try it! 🙂 A girl at my work was actually on the first season of the Bachelor. I don’t think she made it very far. I’m pretty sure she got cut the first or second episode.
Faith @ For the Health of It says
Hmm, I don’t think I could handle the bachelorette, even doing it tongue in cheek since I realize it’s a totally scripted show. It’s just too much drama for my personality!
Angela @ Sleep and Repeat says
I definitely need that breakfast cookie in my life – looks delicious! that’s so cool that they wanted your friend to be on the bachelor! you must’ve done an awesome job on that application 😉
Kristy Doyle says
I read that book! It was intense! I really liked it 🙂
Alyssa @ fit and fun in third says
I couldn’t handle the late start either…. My DVR is waiting for me when I get home from work! I don’t think I could ever be on the show…. Id be way too embarrassed!
Khushboo Thadani says
I love the breakfast cookie but haven’t had it in so long- thanks for reminding me about it! It’ll be ideal for quick breakfasts on work days!
Kelly says
New blog follower here! Much thanks to my friend, Angie, for sharing it with me.
You’ve inspired me to start morning work-outs! I usually work out in the afternoon while the kids have rest time but sometimes that doesn’t work (no surprise!) Getting up before the kids and getting my work-out and shower in by 6:30 am this morning felt wonderful!!
Regarding the question, I could never, ever, repeat never, ever be on the Bachelorette. Like a PP said, way too much drama for me! :o)
peanutbutterfingers says
so glad you found me! 🙂
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
I never tire of the breakfast cookie – they seem to keep me fuller than regular oats! 🙂
Tara says
I think it would be fun to be on the Bachelorette but I would honestly probably be the most boring contestant because I usually am completely clueless when it comes to drama and gossip situations. I missed the premiere last night because it was so late too, but I plan on watching it on the computer today 🙂 I hope it’s a good season!
Katie @ Katie Moves says
I think it would be a fun experience! just meeting all the guys..although i never think it would work out haha but its funny 🙂
Chelsa says
I love the sneakers. They’re such a pretty color. I haven’t made a breakfast cookie in so long, great reminder.
Jana @ Newly Wife Healthy Life says
Wow that is so cool about your friend, to bad she is happily in a relationship! 🙂 just kidding! If I was single I would definitely want to be the bachelorette in a heart beat, but I don’t know if I could handle being on the bachelor. The idea of competing with all those other women would scare me to death. You would have to be one confident lady to handle that sort of awkward situation!
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
Lol I’m not sure if I’d want to be on the show, mostly because my family would think it was insane. Plus if you really liked the guy, I wouldn’t be okay with seriously dating someone who was also seriously dating other women… And I did finish the book – I ended up reading the whole thing in one day! Haha I was too scared to put it down!
Caroline @ After Dinner Dance says
I was thrown off by the late start time too! That’s crazy about your friend. I’ve thought about submitting my friend to the show but have always figured it would be pointless!
alex says
That book was nuts! It was extremely disturbing! I can’t put into words how that guy made me feel. He was like the guy in Psycho. He was NUTS!
The 2nd half….I felt like i was watching a lifetime movie – those twists and turns were fabulous! Can’t wait to review it!
peanutbutterfingers says
totally agree! i felt like it was almost two separate books… one that was so, so disturbing and another that was like some kind of a mystery novel!
Stacie says
Keep an eye out for Ryan Bowers. He used to be a coach at my high school and he owns a training gym right behind the gym where I worked, so he’d always come in to borrow chairs and stuff. Super nice. Super cute!
peanutbutterfingers says
oooh! i definitely will!
Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona says
Dating is hard enough as it is, I don’t think I’d ever want to do it on TV.
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
Hmm.. even though I’m not a big bachelorette watcher, I have seen a couple episodes and the fact that it’s super scripted is a bit of a turn-off. I don’t think I’d want that much drama created around my love life!
Sylvia @ Frolic Through Life says
I don’t think I could ever go on the Bachelor or Bachelorette. I know they say that you can really find love on the show, but the idea of the guy I’m dating making out with 10 other girls really turns me off.
chelcie @ chelcie's food files says
i love the breakfast cookie! I need to remember to make it more often!
Katy @ Couch to 5Katy says
I don’t think I would ever be on the show. They don’t exactly have the best track record for relationships lasting and I don’t think I could ever get over the cameras in my face.
Miriam says
Never! I just would never want this kind of attention and the pressure and I’m way too intimate in love & relationship and not at all exhibitionist! I just never really understood why people will go there at all it’s rarely good publicity! Although, I do watch it sometime…!
Lindsay @ Lindsay's List says
the tear out workouts are the only reason i read fitness magazines.
Stephanie @ Legally Blinde says
I used to watch The Bachelor and The Bachelorette every.single.season since it started and then I stopped watching a little while ago, but last night I happened to be flipping through the channels when it was on and got sucked in 🙂 I think I’m probably hooked for this season! I wasn’t sure if I liked any of the guys when they first arrived, but as the night went on I started to like the race car driver and the guy who arrived on a skateboard. I can’t wait to see what you think of them!
That’s really, really cool that the show contacted one of your friends – and very sneaky of you 🙂 Actually last night I was just thinking that it would be kind of fun to apply to be on the show, although I really hate being in front of a camera, so I might not be cut out for it, haha. It would also be really stressful to find outfits/ pack for the show!!
I’m glad you mentioned the Fitnessista’s breakfast cookie – I’ve been getting bored with my breakfasts lately and forgot about the breakfast cookie. I think I’ll make one for tomorrow!
Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries says
i forgot about the breakfast cookie too! i made it several times when i first discovered the healthy living blog world too, but haven’t made it since. it’s a favorite, so i definitely need to make it this week!
i don’t think i could ever be on the bachelor… being on national television with all the drama would drive me bonkers. i love watching it though! i plan to watch it today too. 🙂
Alex @ therunwithin says
That breakfast cookie looks divine! I could never be on a show like that but I have allays wanted to be on road rules… when it was on the air. I like that adventure type traveling thing. My aunt actually submitted a video to be on Survivor. It was hilarious!
christina says
That breakfast cookie looks amazing. I made it once and mine tasted like protein powder :(. Maybe i need to tweak the recipe a little. By the way I did a upper arm workout that you posted a little while ago yesterday and boy my arms are screaming today! Love your blog! 🙂 Have a good day
Wesley says
I’m already married so I’ll imagine here…one part of me says absolutely I would never go on the bachelor it is a horrible way to find love and obviously it has never (maybe once?) ended up well, and it’s just plain gross. But then the other side of me says…um that would be super fun, and I would totally amp up the drama just to make good television. And hey, what other guy is going to take you on a helicopter ride through Thailand for your first date?
Yellow Haired Girl says
Breakfast looks delicious! I don’t think I would ever be on the show — just not my thing. I do enjoy watching it though 🙂 cant’t wait to hear what you think of last night’s episode. It was a good one!
Summer says
That book was one of the hardest books to read in the beginning- the first bath seen made my skin crawl. That being said, I LOVED it and couldn’t put it down during the second half!
peanutbutterfingers says
oh i KNOW. my skin just got goosebumps reading your comment!
Summer says
First bath *scene*. Wooooooow that was such a fail haha
Sara @ The Foodie Diaries says
I don’t think I would ever be on the show just because I’m more of a private person. I don’t know if I would be able to relax and be myself with cameras following me around and guys throwing themselves at me. It’s not something I used to and I think it would make me uncomfortable! Nor would I want to compete against 25 other girls for one guy, I think I would go insane with jealousy! 🙂
Chelsea @ Chelsea Eats Treats says
I was just saying last night that I could never be on the Bachelorette. It’s just so awkward!! Everyone had little gimmicks and trinkets so she would remember them and it felt so phony. Noooo thank you…I’ll stick to watching every Monday from the couch!
Beks says
I’ve actually never watched The Bachelor/Bachelorette, but I listen to the recaps on the radio in the morning, and it cracks me up. I don’t think I’d be brave enough to ever submit an application to be ON the show, though. 🙂
Lenore says
Oooh I’ve heard great things about that book! I need to look into it.
I don’t think I could be on The Bachelorette or The Bachelor…I’d be worried I wouldn’t be able to be myself with all of the cameras, and I just don’t like to be the center of attention so obviously.
Elizabeth @ Chocolate Drops and Pearls says
That breakfast cookie looks amazing I might have to give it a try!
I really liked Doug (the single Dad) and Charlie those are my two favs so far!
Brittany @ GOtheXtraMile says
The single dad and another guy caught my eye that I think she may have a connection with. I can’t remember who he was though! I was just talking about this last night about being on the bachelor. I think that once you are on the bachelor, it causes problems because you are always in the media. It seems like although there are some successful couples, they usually don’t turn out as hoped.
Lindsey @ Chick Flick Chic says
I seriously considered applying to be on the Bachelor when I was single a few years ago. I even recruited my best friends to help me make a tape to send in! When I started reading all of the agreements they have you sign I totally freaked out. I think there’s actually a line that says the show can portray you in a negative, derogatory or embarrassing way without your knowledge. I was like uhhhh…. nevermind.
Abby @ Change of Pace says
Yummy- I watched one of Gina’s videos on the breakfast cookie but never made it. I think I may have to revisit the recipe and give it a whirl!
Some of the Bachelor comments above are hilarious!
Pia says
New Blog follower here! But I decided to participate in your book club this month and that book was awesome/crazy! The first part was definitely disturbing that guy was crazy. But the second part I though was even more disturbing! But I definitely liked the twists and it kept you guessing right til the end. Can’t wait to review it!
peanutbutterfingers says
so glad you liked it! definitely an intense book.
janiek says
I remember the breakfast cookie hype! It was right before the green monster hype took the stage! 🙂 good old times haha.
peanutbutterfingers says
hahaha yes!
joelle (on a pink typewriter) says
When I starting reading blogs, the breakfast cookie was SO popular.. I missed the Bachelorette too – I didn’t realize it started so late! (I like how 9:30p is “so late” for me now.. I’m such a grandma now that I’m in my mid 20s haha.)
peanutbutterfingers says
you and me both!
Corrie Anne says
Lol. I could never be on one of those shows. I’d be a totall wallflower. I saw that Fitness magazine workout! I wanted to try it! 🙂
Cassie says
Are those nikes comfortable? I do a lot of workout classes (turbo kick box, boxing boot camp, nike training club, yoga, bodypump, etc) and need a shoe that is somewhat padded. With turbo kick and boxing boot camp and other high intesity workouts I tend to get horrible blisters from all the pounding on my feet etc. Would those nikes be good for that? Or no, not enough padding? I can’t tell….
peanutbutterfingers says
they are definitely lightweight, so you might want a different shoe if you’re looking for something with more padding. 🙂
Laurie @ Love, Laugh, Laurie says
I’m a big fan of Ryan and Sean! Regarding the book, are you saying I should stick with it? I got to the intense part of chapter 3 and couldn’t read it and haven’t gone back to it yet…
peanutbutterfingers says
it depends… it continues to be pretty darn intense until about the halfway mark. i’m glad i stuck with it, but i can see how it might be too much for some.
Trish says
I love those shoes! I have been looking into purchasing them but would love to know what you think of them first. Do you run in them? Are they supportive enough for you?
peanutbutterfingers says
i wouldn’t run a ton of miles in them, though they ARE made for running. (i’d do sprints in them, but wouldn’t choose them for a 5-mile run if that makes sense.) i just prefer a more supportive shoe for longer runs. (i love mizunos for running!) i’ve been wearing these for strength or circuit workouts.
Stacy says
I finished the book and read Chevy Stephens other book… Which has the same style- The main character to her counselor about everything. At first, I didn’t know if I’d like it, but I really enjoyed it!
Rebecca @ Miss Magnolia Munches & Moves says
I don’t think I could be on any TV show. I’m too shy about my personal life to let it be aired. Plus, being in a house full of girls competing for the same guy’s attention doesn’t sound fun. Neither does weeding through a ton of guys and breaking some of their hearts.
Sana says
The Bachelor or The Bachelorette is basically my life. Hello Indian dating 🙂
Brittani says
I have like 10 pages left of Still Missing. I had actually just started reading it when you announced it for the book club book so I was super excited you chose it! It was definitely disturbing but such a good twist at the end!
