Hello from Florida! Yes, I am back in Florida again. Ryan and I left for the Sunshine State last night. We’ll be in Orlando all weekend for a wedding (celebrating Cherayne and Matt!) and I am thrilled to have a few days back in my old stomping grounds with some of my best girlfriends from college. It will be a blast!
A weekend with old friends is obviously what I am loving most this week, but, in keeping with our Things I’m Loving Friday tradition, below you will find a few more things that are making me smile! As always, please jump in and share what you’re loving lately in the comments section!
Things I’m Loving Friday
- OPI’s Ate Berries in the Canaries Nail Polish
(Source)
I am a pink nail polish girl through and through. Now that fall is on the horizon, I find myself feeling the pull away from the hot pinks and coral nail polish colors I adore so much during the summertime, but I’m not ready to fully commit to darker polish. Enter OPI’s Ate Berries in the Canaries. It’s a purple-based polish with a bit of pink in there, too, so naturally I love it! I used it to give myself a pedicure at home this week and think it’s a great transitional color.
- Your Comments On My Funny Wi-Fi Names Blog Post
You guys had me cracking up with your comments on my Funny Wi-Fi Names blog post. So creative!!! Some of my favorites: Husband and Wifi, Free Public WiFi (on a password-protected network), Los Pollos Hermanos (<—Breaking Bad!), Hide Yo Kids Hide Yo Wifi, It Hurts When IP, This LAN Is Your LAN, NACHO Wifi, How I Met Your Wifi, Wireless Virus
I’ve checked out Zulily (<—affiliate link!) before but for some reason my first impression lead me to believe that the website was a site mostly for moms that featured great deals on things for babies and kids. Well, I was wrong and it wasn’t until I saw a friend post about their Moving Comfort sale on Facebook that I browsed around and found myself pleasantly surprised. Some of my favorite Moving Comfort finds (the heathered gotta love it tunic and the momentum shorts) are 50 percent off! And just FYI, they’re also having a great sale on TOMS right now! (Thanks to Courtney for the head’s up on that one!)
- Outlets!
This is one of those random things that I almost didn’t include because it’s really trivial, but I know some of you out there will feel me on this one! The master bathroom in our new house has four outlets. Hallelujah! Every bathroom I’ve used to date has had two outlets and we all know that the plugs from hairdryers and straighteners are often so large that one of them overtakes two outlets, causing me to plug my straightener in somewhere else in the house to heat up while I blow dry my hair. I feel like I am in heaven with so many outlets right now! I can actually blow dry my hair and straighten or curl it in one place. It’s the little things.
- KIND Maple Quinoa Granola
I first discovered this granola at my parents’ place and fell in love with the crunch. Another great plus? Each serving only has two grams of sugar which is often quite hard to find in store-bought granola. I typically eat it on top of a cup of creamy Greek yogurt for a morning or afternoon snack.
I’m not sure what is going on with my skin right now, but my face broke out like crazy last week. A zit popped up on my chin that was basically the size of my eye and in desperation, I started rummaging around our bathroom looking for something to help clear it up. I stumbled upon this cream in Ryan’s drawer and when I asked him about it he said it worked pretty well for him in the past, so I gave it a shot. Forty-eight hours later, the mountain on my chin died down considerably! Yes, it could’ve just run its course, but right now I’m tipping my hat to this cream!
Questions of the Day
- What is one thing that is making you smile this week?
- Any products/treatments you swear by for treating breakouts?
Lauren says
KIND granola is crazy good. I like that it has some protein in it and isn’t super high calorie for a decent-sized portion! The peanut butter honey flavor is really good too 🙂
Bethany @ Accidental Intentions says
I don’t know how KIND does it, but one of my favorite things about the majority of their products is how good they make them taste while keeping the sugar content super low. Makes me feel much better about my food choices!
Tracy @ sprinklesandsquats says
So funny you mention outlets, because yesterday my husband and I were just discussing how happy we are that there are a ton of outlets in the kitchen! We literally use them all!
Typical, but I’ve been loving pumpkin lately. I’ve been adding canned pumpkin to protein smoothies, waffles, cookies, etc… and of course, there’s always pumpkin spiced lattes. I’m ready for fall and the holidays. 🙂
Julie says
Such a silly thing to be happy about but I’m glad you feel me! 🙂
haley @Cupcakes and Sunshine.com says
love that pink polish!!! and KIND granola. SO good.
Ash Bear says
In most of Europe outlets are OUTSIDE the bathroom, not inside. Don’t even get me started on how crazy and annoying this is!
Karen says
Love KIND products, although I read somewhere recently that a nutritionist or someone said they are not actually all that healthy for you. Pooh on them, I say.
My face broke out for like 6 months a few months back. I am older than you all (46) and I was told it was hormones. I got desperate and tried ProActiv and it works! Other reviewers said it didn’t for them, but for me it works great and it’s not that expensive.
ahealthyhappyhomeg says
Oh outlets are essential to a good home! It’s one of the first things I looked for when house shopping. That and closet space. Priorities 🙂
JenG says
Love that pink polish…I’ve been on the hunt for a good transition polish.
I’m a big fan of Burts Bees Blemish Stick…it’s amazing and can clear up a new zit overnight.
Lauren @ Beautiful Plant-Based Life says
What I’m loving: yummy toasted almond loose leaf tea from Clipper Ship Tea Company. It’s caffeine-free so I can even cozy up with a cup of tea when I’m winding down for the night!
Natalie @ Never Serious Blog says
I LOVE that polish! Perfect fall pink!
aladygoeswest says
Of everything I read up there, knowing that you have four outlets in the MASTER bathroom means you have counter-tops in your multiple bathrooms. I’ve lived in a little city apartment for so long that I’ve not experienced a bathroom counter-top in forever. I covet the counter-top. I can’t even answer your questions above because now that’s all I’m thinking about! ahahah!
Nicole Siewert says
Caladryl works wonders on zits! Its the pink stuff you put on mosquito bites. If I feel one starting to pop up, I put it on over night and in the morning, its gone! Just have to make sure it has Pramoxine in the ingredients.
Julie says
Really!? I’ll check it out!
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
Tooootally hear ya on the outlets!! 😉
For the acne thing, I always look for benzoyl peroxide products rather than salicylic acid products to help my blemishes. My derm said salicylic acid will only help certain kinds of acne, and apparently it’s not the kind of acne I get. Ha. So, I’ve tried the benzoyl peroxide, and it works like a charm!
Jasmine @ A cupcake for my thoughts says
I’m obsessed with nail polish and probably have every shade in pink but I LOVE that colour you have!! I need to find that and buy it, so cute! I think it’s acceptable to wear pink year round 😉
Hillary says
great polish color!!
Christa @ Living Unbalanced says
This sounds weird, but putting toothpaste on a zit works wonders! Especially for “underground pimples” (as I call them).
Julie says
I’ve totally done that!!
Nicole @ Squash on Squash says
One making me smile this week is my new bed! I’ve been sleeping like a baby, which has been a nice change from my restless nights this past month.
As for breakout stuff… in high school I found these little sticky pad things that you would put on the pimple overnight. This would completely dry it out, and (usually) by morning it would be gone!
Jen @ LivingLoving30 says
I am so with you on the outlets! We actually had SIX outlets installed during our master bath remodel, including one quad outlet inside my cabinet to keep the blow drier, hair straightener, and curling iron cords organized. It was recommended by our contractor and probably one of the most genius ideas ever!
Sarah @ Sweet Miles says
YES to outlet malls!!! We’re headed to Branson in a few weeks with my in-laws and are itching to get some fall shopping done at the outlets!
Samantha says
I am SUPER EXCITED to go zip lining for the first time ever on Sunday Morning. I’m slightly scared, but mostly excited. I have no fear of heights, but I am afraid of loosing whatever contents are in my stomach since I get motion sickness.
Sarah @ KS Runner says
I love the polish color. I just ordered another bottle of OPI’s You Don’t Know Jacques. Probably my favorite fall color and I ran out of my last bottle!
I always think that you can tell when men designed bathrooms without consulting a woman. They just don’t think about all the things we need to plug in!
Tricia says
Ate Berries in the Canaries is literally my favorite polish color ever! So funny that you love it too! I’ve went through quite a few bottles over the years!
I also really love Essie’s Marathin this time of year! 🙂
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul says
Happy Friday! I love weddings! The wifi names in our apartment building are a little less appropriate than some of the ones mentioned. haha I think one person started it and now they have all turned very weird.

Where did you find the KIND granola? I’ve been on a mad hunt for it and haven’t seen it at my local Target or Whole Foods in Charleston, SC!
Thanks!
Julie says
Target!
Emma says
The walmart in my teeny tiny town carries it! In the breakfast foods aisle.
Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona says
I hope you have fun back in Florida for the wedding.
Right now I’m smiling because the snow we got earlier in the week is melting. It’s too early for snow, even here in Calgary.
Greer Rothermel says
Clinique Acne Soultions are great and work wonders for your face- especially the spot treatment gel- i swear by it! Kind of pricey but for $25, it clears my skin right up and lasts for 2-3 months!
Julie says
I love Clinique products and should definitely try this!! Thanks for the recommendation.
Chrissy @ Pink Polish and Running Shoes says
Love that nail polish. I was just thinking the other day I’m not ready to give up my pretty pinks, but then I went ahead and painted my nails a bordeaux color. Oh wellll
keen peach says
Have a blast in Florida! We will be there too. PC Beach.
I have to share one thing that made me smile this week. My son is almost two and for the past week, every time the microwave beeps he yells “chicken nuggets!” Lol!
Maybe we need to cut back on the chicken nuggets lol.
Julie says
Ha! That’s amazing! 🙂
joelle (on a pink typewriter) says
Yum, I looove Kind’s granola. Right now I’m also loving my fan – my office doesn’t have a/c (we’re on a military base), and it’s a billion degrees here in San Diego.
dallaswoodburn says
Cute nail polish color! And I love KIND bars — I’ll have to try their granola! Have fun in Florida this weekend 🙂
Here are five things I’m happy about on this fabulous Friday: http://daybydaymasterpiece.com/2014/09/12/fabulous-friday-32/
Linda @ Fit Fed and Happy says
Never tried KIND granola, but do they taste just like the bars except less chewy? 🙂
Julie says
It’s definitely less sweet than the bars but not in a bad way!
fitgirlprettyworld says
I love OPI nail polishes, that is such an awesome color~ perfect for fall!
Laura @ The Healthy Sooner says
I hear you about the outlets. When we built our house, we installed outlets EVERYWHERE! Our kitchen has one every two feet, and we even put them in the closets to hide electronics. It makes life SO much easier!
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment says
That’s my fave Kind granola too! I think tea tree oil is a great skin treatment and Burt’s Bees makes a good blemish stick. Hands down the best treatment ever though is Mario Bedusco. I had similar problems with my skin this summer – I blame it on my move and the change in climates. And this stuff is awesome. You can order it on Amazon or buy it at Nordstrom’s.
Kate @ Trekking Kate says
I am LOVEing chobani greek yogurt tubes semi frozen. Right now I have the chocolate dust flavor, it is tangy and just a little sweet just like yogurt should be!
Cheri @ Overactive Blogger says
I LOVE that color!
Brittany @ DulceVie says
I don’t know why, but my skin has been breaking out too this past week. I just put some clean & clear on and now I am not really breaking out.
Amanda @ Slimplify Life says
I’m loving this video, it’s so humbling!

Also loving homemade granola bars =)
slimsanity says
I just bought a really pretty grey nail polish from Sallie Hansen, the quick dry ones!
Julie says
What’s the name of the color?? I love those polishes for a quick manicure when I’m in a rush!
slimsanity says
It’s called Grease Lightning, the Insta-Dri kind! 🙂
Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties says
LOVE THAT POLISH! why’d you have to share that.. now I want it! 🙂
Jill says
You posted once about Cosmos Creations from TJMaxx one day, and I bought the Coconut flavor. Let’s just saying I can’t put it down, and I blame you.
Hahaha!
Kathryn @ Chicks Dig Running says
My favorite acne treatment is the Burt’s Bees spot treatment. It comes in a little glass tube, and you just roll it on the spot. The problem is that it smells really strong, but it’s made with all natural products which makes me feel better and it shrinks those bad boys like nobody’s business!
This week I am loving my Naked Sports Gear tan through sports bra. I am trying to get the last little bit of tan before the weather cools down too much, and I don’t want to be stuck with a racer back tan line all winter!
Have fun in Florida!
Chocolate Covered Race Medals says
I’m going to visit some really good friends this weekend in Northern New York — and that is definitely my Friday Favorite 🙂
Julie says
Have fun!
Kimberly says
Your break out is probably due to stress from moving! I’m normally zit free, and my husband and I are planning a big move next week and I’m breaking out all over the place, ugh!
Julie says
I feel your pain!!!!
Kelly says
I recently read about using honey for breakouts. I’ve tried it a couple times and have to say it actually works. A little dab of honey on the spot before bed, and by morning it looks so much better!
Julie says
Really??? That surprises me!
Elizabeth says
I think Mario Badescu Drying Lotion works great for spots. You leave it on overnight so it is kind of funny to have pink dots on your face, but it really works!
Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life says
You’re so welcome, my friend! xoxo 🙂
Angela says
Hi Julie! Just discovered your blog, and I’m clicking through posts like crazy and loving your understated and Sadie humor. Would you consider writing a blog post about how you meet people when you move to a new place? Like you, I just moved somewhere new, and I’m not sure where to start! I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Devon says
I’m loving my fall decorations! I stayed in last weekend while my bf worked overnight. I light my pumpkin candle for the first time this year, cleaned and decorated. Then, I made a new wreath. That may make me a grandma, but my decorations have made me so happy this week!
