Our weekend fun is kicking off today with the arrival of our friend Ben who will be staying with us through the weekend. Then, early this afternoon, my second cousin and her daughter will be stopping by our house en route to an event in Winston Salem and I’m excited for them to meet Chase. More visitors = More fun!
Now let’s stick to the usual Friday shenanigans around here and dive into your weekly Things I’m Loving Friday post. Below you will find a list of things that are making me smile this week and, as always, I’d love to hear a little bit about what you’re loving this week in the comments section of this post.
Have a great weekend!
Things I’m Loving Friday
- Salty Road Pumpkin Spice Taffy
My friend Merri knows how much I love anything pumpkin spice flavored and brought a small box of the most deliciously sweet and slightly salty pumpkin spice salt water taffy with her from NYC to share with us during her visit last weekend. It was so tasty and a perfect treat! (Clearly Sadie wanted in on the action.) I already investigated the brand and apparently Salty Road salt water taffy is sold at Dean & Deluca in Charlotte so you better believe I’ll be popping in for a box the next time I find myself uptown.
As Chase gets older and becomes more and more alert, he seems to want a buddy to play with him. He’ll kick, coo and play fairly well on his own for about 15 minutes but after that he gets a bit fussy and needs a playmate. That’s where this little pod comes in handy! It allows me to place Chase in a cozy spot right next to me, but gives me two free hands which, as any mom knows, is freaking fantastic. I swear I carry this pillow all over the house with me these days.
Have you guys tried Fairlife milk? My brother-in-law introduced it to me during our family mountain vacation and it’s so, so good. Apparently the filtration process of this milk filters out a lot of the sugar but leaves behind protein and calcium. (A one cup serving of this milk has 13 grams of protein and only 6 grams of sugar whereas typical milk has 8 grams of protein and 12 grams of sugar.) The whole milk is fantastically creamy and tastes wonderful in homemade hot chocolate or as an alternative to coffee creamer in a warm mug of my beloved peppermint crème coffee in the morning.
You guys know by now I am a little too addicted to making frittatas every single week. They’re easy, healthy and delicious, but, as it turns out, they were a little dangerous for me to make until I got this protective pan handle. I kept forgetting the handle of the frittata pan was H-O-T when it came out of the oven and burned myself a few times. Now I put this Le Creuset pan handle cover on the pan the minute I take it out of the oven and frittatas are, once again, a safe breakfast.
- Primal Jerky
I discovered this turkey jerky at Publix a month or so ago and like it a lot! Then I saw it on sale (almost $2 cheaper) through Thrive Market and stocked up on a few bags. It’s made without any preservatives or artificial ingredients (<—seems to be uncommon in the jerky world!) and is a great high-protein snack that I’ve been enjoying after boot camp along with a piece of fresh fruit and a spoonful of almond butter.
- Faded Days & LittleBIGs Sunglasses 50% Off!
Our friend Ben who is visiting us this weekend is the guy behind the sunglasses you may have seen me blog about before! Ryan is actually teaming up with him on his children’s sunglasses line, LittleBIGs, and they’re both offering 50% off all sunglasses through Saturday. They’re great stocking stuffers and you can’t beat the price. Use the code PBLove on both LittleBIGS and Faded Days glasses to receive the discount.
- Friday Flashbacks
Roasted Red Pepper Chili (An easy and super-comforting chili recipe, perfect for a chilly autumn evening!)
Jump Rope ‘n’ Abs Circuit Workout (Oh heeeey off-center throwback workout image! This is a sweaty workout that alternates core exercises with bursts of jump rope.)
Question of the Day
- What is one thing you are loving this week?
I’m loving hats, scarfs and all things comfort food…just made an epic cottage pie and and it for breakfast! We don’t have Taffy in Ireland!
No taffy? Ha. We have an Irish friend who is student teaching here and we made the biggest mistake of inviting him over for corned beef and hashed He laughed at us!! Ha.
I love Public and want that turkey jerky but we have Wegmans and they might be the only grocery store worldwide that can beat Public. Although I do love both!!!!
LOVING my first Stitch Fix that came in the mail yesterday!
Ahhh I definitely need that pan handle cover – I have burned myself more than a few times that way!!
My mom told me about it — so handy! 🙂
Loving that my daughter is back to sleeping 2-3 hour stretches at night again. She regressed to 1-2 hour stretches during a week-long growth spurt at 4 months, so between her and her twin brother, I was up 7+ times per night. This is much more do-able!
I think I even have the energy to tackle that workout. Jumping rope is so much harder than it was in kindergarten!
I am loving trading sites on Facebook these days! Yesterday, my husband and I were able to purchase a brand new Jeep jogging stroller for a third of the in-store cost. I am thrilled, and I’m sure it will come in handy when our little one arrives next month!! Have a great weekend!
The glasses are so darn cute and at a great price. Also, I always forget about taffy. I would love to try the pumpkin spice. Have a great weekend, Julie!
I’m loving my new winter coat since it’s freezing here in Chicago!!
Fairlife milk is the best!! Love that you get more protein and only half the sugar. The chocolate milk is also very good!
I’ve always seen that milk at the store, but never thought to pick it up. Sounds right up my alley so I’ll give it a shot! I’m loving my last few cups of Trader Joes Pumpkin Spice k cups. They’re the perfect amount of pumpkin and I’m loving it!
omg! Chase in that picture is too much! He’s such a cutie!
This week I think I’m loving Granny Smith Apple Seltzer water, it’s fall-ish & delicious!
Have a good weekend!
You’ve got lots of visitors! How awesome and what a great way to start the weekend!
I discovered Fairlife about a month ago, too! I love the taste.
Egg white oatmeal has been amazing this week. I got a pack of four pints from Sam’s Club, and it’s easy to take one little carton to work, and mix it into my oatmeal for a super filling breakfast. Still working out my favorite toppings, but it keeps me full almost until Lunch!
And I love those Sunglasses. They’re super cute!
This week I’ve been loving hot chocolate – I’ve made it several times at home with a little cinnamon and it’s been so perfect for the chilly + windy fall days we’ve been having in Chicago! Have a great weekend Julie 🙂
Love that Sadie wanted in on the picture! She is so cute.
Those sunglasses are adorable. I’ll have to check out the brand! And I typically buy whatever milk is on the shelf, not even looking at the nutritional content! But now, who knows what I’ve been drinking lately?!
Thanks for the tips!
Happy Friday! Love the list…as usual!
I’ve been curious to try that milk; I guess I’ll have to pick some up.
Just ordered a pair of Faded Days for my husband for a stocking stuffer!
Where did you put the code? I can’t find a place to enter it for the discount 🙁
nevermind I just read that it ended already lol
I’m loving the beautiful fall weather and (dork alert) one big midterm being behind me ! 😀 This weekend now feels extra indulgent 🙂 Have a great weekend!
I have to hunt down that pumpkin salt water taffy! I like all things pumpkin and LOVE all things salt/sweet 🙂
Fairlife milk is the best isn’t it? Their chocolate milk is my go to drink after a long run since most protein powders don’t taste good to me. But the chocolate milk sure does 🙂
I’ve been loving the cooler weather here in NYC this week—I love fall clothes and was happy to be back in boots : )
I found pumpkin-flavored pasta sauce this week, which I plan to dig into very soon. That gave me far too much excitement. Those glasses are so cute, and how cool that Ryan is getting behind the company too. Happy Friday, Julie!
I love the boppy lounger as well… both of my boys loved it! It goes everywhere with us! The fairlife milk is awesome too.. My toddler LOVES chocolate milk, but typically it was only a “treat” since the sugar content is so high, but since I came across fairlife chocolate we have it stocked in our fridge on the regular 🙂 loving this week—Barre. Hot Yoga. & Hot Coffee! (So cold in the north!)
I’m loving the warmish weather we ‘re having this late in the year. And I love your posts and workouts and pics. <3
I love the Boppy Lounger- I have used it every day since I brought my little man home!
Loving San Diego Beer Week here in California, and the cooler fall nights. We can have pumpkin in southern CA too 🙂
FYI- we bought some of that brand of taffy at Home Goods/Marshalls last month. If I remember correctly, you stop there on occasion. I don’t know if they have the pumpkin spice but keep an eye out the next time you’re there! 🙂
Awesome!!! I’ll be on the lookout!
Ohhhhh, I love the Boppy Lounger! I recently had to pack mine up because my baby girl is too big for it now (she would just roll right off if I tried to put her on it!) but I loved the heck out of that thing for the first 6 months or so. I actually love looking back on pictures of her laying in it at different time points because it provided great perspective on how much she was growing!
Love that idea!
The Faded Days discount code isn’t working for me, was it a one-day only thing?
It was valid through Saturday. 🙂
Chase is sooooo cute! I look forward to your Friday Favorites, some things I haven’t heard about until you mention it! I have to try that milk! Thanks!
Could you please tell me the brand of coffee you buy (peppermint creme)? Is it available in k-cups? That sounds delicious! Thanks!
I get it from The Fresh Market! I’ve also tried peppermint coffee in K-Cups from both Target and Publix and like both of their flavors, too!
Thanks so much!
LOVING “Why Not Me” by Mindy Kaling and Florida’s “scarf weather” ! <3
My sister-in-law absolutely loves her boppy newborn lounger but I am eyeing that turkey jerky for myself!
