(P.S. Chase turned 14 months old yesterday!)
Here’s our predicament: Chase will still take a phenomenal morning nap (often nearly two hours) from 10 a.m. to noon but then basically refuses to nap in the afternoon with the exception of three or four days in the past two weeks. He’s SO cranky and exhausted by the end of the day (and so am I!). I tried pushing his morning nap back to 11:30 a.m. this week and he woke up after about 90 minutes and was still totally zonked and ready for bed at 6 p.m. (<— 60-90 minutes before his usual bed time). HELP meeeee! I don’t know what to do and I just feel defeated. I cannot seem to get anything done at home right now and I feel like I’m living in the middle of a toddler guessing game all day long.
Chase has never been the best nighttime sleeper but our boy has always been a pretty stellar napper, so this is completely flipping our routine upside down. I feel bad because I cannot seem to figure out what he needs/wants right now and I hate to see him so fussy and exhausted at the end of the day. I welcome any advice you guys may have if you’ve been there before and come out successfully on the other side!
Okay, clearly Chase’s naps are on the top of my mind right now, but rather than write a bazillion more words about baby sleep battles, let’s focus on the good and dive into your usual Things I’m Loving Friday post! Below you will find a short list of things that made me smile this week and I’d love to hear about the little things you’re loving this week in the comments section of this post. Have a great weekend, my friends!
Things I’m Loving Friday
- Easy Cherry Tomato Olive Oil Pasta Sauce with Shrimp and Tortellini
On Monday night, I made the most delicious tortellini dinner with an olive oil cherry tomato sauce we absolutely loved! It was so easy to throw together and while I initially shared the recipe on Instagram and Facebook, I wanted to share it here as well just in case social media isn’t your thing!
To make the sauce, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 1/2 cup olive oil, 2 teaspoons freshly minced garlic, 2 cups cherry tomatoes, salt and pepper. Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring regularly. Add 1 cup chopped asparagus, 1 cup chopped fresh basil and more salt and pepper to taste. Cook for another 8 minutes or until tomatoes begin to burst. Add 1 cup of fresh spinach and 1 pound cooked shrimp (peeled and deveined). Pour in cooked tortellini and toss to coat!
- “The Longest Time” by Billy Joel
You know those songs that instantly put you in the best mood and make you break out in song whenever you hear them? “The Longest Time” by Billy Joel is one of those songs for me.
Oh, oh, oh
For the longest time
Oh, oh, oh
For the longest
If you said goodbye to me tonight
There would still be music left to write
What else could I do
I’m so inspired by you
That hasn’t happened for the longest time
LOVE IT. I’ve recently been digging through old CDs to play in my car and this song popped up as I left the house to meet up with some girlfriends for drinks on Wednesday night. I ended up playing it three times in a row! So catchy and fun to belt out!
After I fell in love with my fun holiday phone case last December, I knew I wanted a festive phone case to last me through the autumn months this year. My pumpkin case arrived earlier this week and every time I just love the extra fall flare! Bring on pumpkin everrrrything!
- Latest Thrive Market Order
I know I’ve mentioned my love for Thrive Market on the blog a couple of times before, but I wanted to highlight my most recent order because I found my favorite dissolvable collagen for $4 cheaper on the Thrive Market website than what I usually pay on Amazon. Since I know a bunch of you are on the collagen-lovin’ bandwagon with me, I thought it might be of interest! Thrive Market is the best!
This popcorn was an impulse buy at Target last week and it was a total homerun! Ryan and I will often split a bag of microwave popcorn on the couch when we watch movies together and Quinn microwave popcorn caught my eye because it claimed to take “all the weird out of microwave popcorn” and remove the traditional chemical and plastic-coated microwave popcorn bag and the hydrogenated oils and artificial flavors found in traditional microwave popcorn. Making our first bag of Quinn popcorn was actually kind of cool! I popped the popcorn and then added small packets of oil and butter and sea salt for flavoring and it was AWESOME. Ryan and I both said the popcorn had more of an artisanal taste or a farmer’s market feel and it was wonderful. I cannot wait to try the other flavors!

That is a cute phone case! Best of luck with Chase’s naps!

Oh, naps! My second daughter is a little older than Chase, she is currently 15 months & we are in the EXACT same boat. She is not totally ready to give up the morning nap but also hasn’t yet napped longer in the afternoon. I have been trying to run an errand in the morning so she can nap for about 10-15 minutes. Not enough to totally throw off her afternoon but a chance to reset the cranky. Soon enough he will be napping well in the afternoon. It is truly an adjustment for everyone.
Best of luck!

My son is only 10 days older than Chase and he went to 1 nap a day around 9 months old… that was because he goes to daycare and she likes to put all the kids down at the same time. So now at 14 months old he sleeps from 7pm-8am (we did “cry it out” sleep training to get to this point, and have to keep doing it every so often) and then a nap from about 12-2. Some days he naps 30 min, other days he naps 3 hours (when teething or sick). Our sitter was the one who transitioned him from 2 naps to 1 so I don’t have a lot of tips other than there has been many days we just have to keep distracting him to keep him awake and happy when he just wants to sleep in the morning or have an early bedtime, in order to keep him on a pretty normal schedule. Usually playing outside is our trick to keep him happy and distracted from how tired he is on those days. Good luck, he will figure it out before you know it!
Katie says
At this age, it’s normal to only take one nap. I would suggest dropping the morning nap/moving it to the middle of the day. The older they get, the less sleep they require, so I wouldn’t expect him to sleep four hours during the day anymore. We’re lucky if we get two.
Sarah says
Definitely try shortening the morning nap. Still put him down at 10 if that’s what was working best, but only let him sleep for about an hour. Hopefully then he’ll be tired enough mid afternoon to go down again! It took us awhile to get the nap transition figured out too. We are just now tackling the big girl bed transition because she started escaping her crib at just under 2 years old.. that’s a tricky one too! 🙂
Kristi says
We lived on the book “Happy Baby Healthy Sleep Habits”. I am NOT an expert but I do have two great sleepers. First of all, my experience is you never wake a sleepnig baby. That never ends well for anyone. My first question is the timing of that morning nap- feels late to me unless he is not waking up unti 8 or 8:30. If you put him down closer to 9 you may get a second shorter one. When you transition, you gotta go with it and be patient and firm. We found moving up the afternoon nap was hard but once it got established we got it back to where we wanted it (1:00). What we learned is you can’t go back and forth- gotta decide one or two naps and go with it. One nap usually turns in a LONG one but you have to get it established and hold the time sacred. Be home, routine etc… Hang in there.
Alicia says
My daughter turns 14 months tomorrow and she did the same thing with her afternoon nap a couple of weeks ago — she eventually sleeps for that second nap (but it literally takes 45min-1 hour to get her to zz). With everything sleep related, I’ve learned its best not to make any drastic changes when things don’t go the way they usually do. That being said, I just worked with her and she was back to gladly going down for two naps a day. I googled it all, asked a ton of my mom friends — and its necessary to keep a baby on a 2 nap schedule until they’re at 15-18 months. Something about the REM sleep in the AM nap? .. who knows. So my daughter down a longish morning nap, maybe an hour and a half to two hours, then an hour nap later in the day. GOOD LUCK. sleep patterns are so exhausting ,.
Amanda says
Hate to say it, but I think not getting a lot done with a toddler at home is pretty much par for the course. We handle most of our to dos after our 2 year old and 5 month old are in bed, or in the morning when my husband and I are both home (we both work 8-5 office jobs). My best advice is not to adjust his schedule, but to adjust yours! His transition will happen on his timeline. Good luck!!
Meghan says
We had the same struggle with our little guy! Try slowly moving his morning nap time back in 15 minute increments, it takes a bit more time, but eventually he’ll be used to the later nap time and should sleep longer. Our little man turned 2 the end of July and he now naps from 12:30-2:30/3 daily!

We are in the middle of transitioning as well! We heard that if their naps were inconsistent for over two weeks, then it was time. She is only 11 months so I didn’t think she was ready, but so far so good. I’d suggest just slowly pushing the morning nap. Instead of 10:30, try 10:45 for three days in a row, then 11am for 3 days, etc until he can hopefully make it until after lunch. We are doing a bottle around 11:15-11:30 to help keep her full then she goes down at 11:45 and when she wakes up she has lunch. Eventually I’d like her down at 12:30 and lunch before, but this is all transitioning! Is he learning a new development too? I hear that can effect their sleep… all he will want to do is perfect that new skill instead of sleep! Hang in there mama! You got it! Random – I live in the Charlotte area as well, have you heard of the Facebook group of moms on charge? It’s a private community group of moms that have great advise!

In your snapchat today, when Chase is playing with the microphone, what brand are those adorable pants!? Cute but not cutsie boy clothes are tough to find. Thank you!

I agree with the above poster to slowly push back the nap start time until he gets used to it. My son went from two naps to one around 13-14 months. It was just such a battle to try to get him down twice a day for short naps. One long afternoon nap ended up being much better for us. I put him down between 12-1 and he would sleep for 2-3 hours. We just couldn’t drive for more than ten minutes after 10 am because he would fall asleep and then nap time didn’t happen. Ugh I know what a struggle naptimes can be. If it makes you feel better I think they change up their sleep patterns/stop sleeping right before a big milestone. That’s been the case for my son anyway. So at least the hard work is for something 🙂
Laura says
A couple nap comments… One) it’s just a hard transition… For everyone. Two) push his AM nap back to 11:30 (or as late as you can get it without totally struggling) and then put him to bed earlier at night if needed. Eventually, the nap duration will extend and the start time will get later.
I remember racing home from a morning activities to get my daughter in bed before falling asleep (and her napping 90 minutes MAYBE). Now, at 23 months, we can have our fun, run an errand, come home and eat lunch, and then nap. It’s a months-long process! Just remember that it’s 100% a normal struggle 🙂
PS. I worked from home without childcare (in a “casual” remote position), and it was during the nap transition phase that I broke down and quit! I just couldn’t fit it all in. I’m preggo again, so quitting was inevitable in my circumstances, but… The struggle was (is) real!
Anne says
When does he get up? When our daughter was taking two naps she was doing the 4-3-2 schedule (some do 2-3-4, but she adjusted it) meaning first nap 4 hours after waking up, second nap 3 hours after waking, and bedtime 2 hours after waking. She is only two months older than Chase and ended up transitioning to one nap right about a year. Now she takes a 2-3 hour nap about 4.5-5 hours after waking up, and goes to bed 5-6 hours after that. I think it’s really all about how long he’s awake not necessarily the time on the clock. When we first started doing a bedtime, we wanted it to be later, and Molly let us know that an 8:30pm bedtime was just not feasible. Now she goes to bed about 7pm. We get a lot done in the evenings since she goes to bed so early. I’d take Chase’s cues.
And like someone else said, I NEVER wake a sleeping baby (if I don’t have to). Sleep begets sleep.
Katie @ Live Half Full says
We are going through the same thing with my 11 month old. I was in disbelief that he was ready to transition but he refused to nap in the afternoon for two weeks straight so slowly I started making his morning nap later and later. At daycare in the toddler room they nap from 12:30-2 so that was my goal. Slowly over the past two weeks he’s napping now closer to noon and going to bed a little earlier as he has been getting used to it. The past few days I feel like we’ve turned a corner and he napped for 90 minutes yesterday and 2 hours today.
Paige Villano says
My son Knox is 18 months old and right around the time he was Chases’ age we (who am I kidding…HE) started to make the transition to one nap. It definitely didn’t happen overnight, and there were times when I felt like you and wanted to pull my hair out trying to figure out what/when/how to do it! He now doesn’t go down until around 1 for his nap, but when we first started we had to nap around noon because he couldn’t make it much later than that. He would either have a big snack or early lunch before too so we knew he would have a full belly for his nap, so make sure his belly is full and that might lengthen his nap. In terms of getting cranky way before bedtime, you might want to try moving his bedtime earlier if he is only getting one nap during the day. Knox definitely hits a wall around the same time each night so we have a pretty set bedtime of 7pm sharp!
Good luck, and let me just say as a mum who for the first year of my sons life felt solidarity in your posts about the sleep struggles (Knox didn’t sleep through the night until he was 13 months old)…you will figure it out and he will find his niche and it will be great! 🙂

Ohh my gosh – I am going to have to try out that popcorn. My little girl’s name is Quinn and so I must have all the Quinn stuff! how awesome is that!!
And chase has grown up so fast – he looks so much older 🙂
Have a great weekend!!

When does Chase eat lunch? My daughter is 16mo and takes one 2-2.5hr nap each day around 11:30, so she gets lunch and milk at 11. Otherwise she won’t sleep as long because she is hungry/thirsty. And yes this means she gets two snacks before dinner, but so does mommy so I can’t really fault her for that. 🙂 Good luck!!!
Jaclyn says
I remember that stage like it was yesterday! So hard. But so worth it when the transition is over. Sounds like you are doing everything right, just keep at it. Those little guys love routine and will eventually adjust. Lots of fresh air in the morning so he is nice and tired come nap time.
Fiona MacDonald says
AW girl I feel you on the nap transition it can be so hard! Sully had to go down to one nap once he started daycare so it’s been a struggle for us. What we got told by a sleep consultant is push it back every few days by 15 mins..so if he’s sleeping 10-12 try 1015 and then 1030 until you inch closer to noon hour and then usually they sleep well in the afternoon….my friend who used the sleep consultant did this and found it the most helpful and least traumatic on baby and mama. They may still need a super early bed time 6pm ish but they’ll adjust once they’re naps work out. Just keep in mind, around this time they ‘need’ (whoever decided how much sleep babies ‘need is beyond me) about 14 hours total with night sleep included, so that makes me feel better when Sully has crappy naps in the day…because I pray he can make some of it up during the night…good luck, and if you find something that works, let the rest of us know! I’m still doing super short naps in the morning so the day doesn’t seem sooo dreadfully long and Sully isn’t so cranky come nap time in the afternoon! xo With you mama
Jamie says
It’s a really hard transition. Especially when you work from home without childcare. I had to hire help when my first made the transition so I could get any work done. My best advice is to push his morning nap to 1130. He will probably do a crappy short nap for a couple of weeks and then it will become a 2-3 hour nap. It takes time though. Also put him down very early for bed during the transition. Nothing wrong with a 6p bedtime for a couple of weeks. Eventually he will get back to a 7p bedtime. With one nap, bedtime is just earlier anyway(till they are closer to 2.5, then naps start to affect bedtime more). Good luck. It’s a rough transition because you count on those naps!!
Rachel says
This is exactly what I would have said. I have 2 boys, a 3 year old and 14 month old. My first son transitioned quite easily, I started pushing his nap back as close to 11, then 12 over a few weeks, kept an earlier bedtime, and after a few days the nap regulated, and was never any later than 12, really. There were a few days where he only had a nap of around 45 minutes, but stick with it and it gets longer and then regular. My second son has always been a terrible sleeper… Naps and nights, and I put him to one nap and he just has to roll with it as he’s in the same room as the older boy. Some days are harder than others. Noah was due before Chase, and ended up 2 weeks later as he was a 42 weeker, like his older brother!

I feel your pain! We just finished the transition from two naps to one nap, and it’s a tough one. Along with the others who commented, it’s a process that can take months, and the struggle is real. I also work from home and it can be hard to be productive during this transition. Once this phase is over, you’ll have a good little napper again 🙂
We went through the same thing – the morning nap would be great, but the afternoon nap would not. Eventually, we decided to cut the morning nap short to ensure an afternoon nap would happen. This was because our little one couldn’t handle being awake so long in the afternoon. And after that lasted a while, the afternoon nap wasn’t happening either. That’s when we were able to push the morning nap back a little bit and eventually get to one nap. We’ve always been strong believers in good sleep habits and not waking a sleeping baby, but sometimes you have to to make sure they can manage the next long chunk of awake time and also have a good bedtime.
Right now, it might feel like your’e in the phase of two naps is too much and one nap is not enough. Eventually, your little one will get better at being awake for a longer chunk of time in the morning, and you’ll be able to push the nap back to mid-day. Hang in there!

Julie – do you ever get an upset tummy from the collagen? I’ve been using it (same brand as in your photo) to get extra protein in my diet and have found that my stomach feels “off” on the days I have it. I’m so confused because I thought collagen was supposed to help heal your digestive track! Anyway, thank you for the tip on Thrive Market! I’ll have to check it out. Have a great weekend and good luck with getting Chase on a new nap schedule!
Julie says
Oh no!! No, I haven’t had any stomach issues but if it’s upsetting your stomach, I’d probably avoid it! I’m sorry you’re having those issues! <3

Hi! My little guy is almost 13 months so very close in age and we transitioned him to 1 nap. They have. Even a few days where he gets two still if he is cranky but most days it’s just the one. Basically what we did during the transition was roughed it out. He would get tired around 10 but we just tried to keep him entertained until we put him down at 11:30. It made for some challenging mornings but it was worth it! Some days the the naps were shorter than we would like but that was just how it would be and we would keep him up until bedtime. Now he takes a minimum of 2 hours nap but usually it’s 3 hours. Not saying this is the right way but this is what works for us.
Brittaney says
My son is 14 months. He kind of goes back and forth between 1-2 naps. He naps about 3 hours per day. Sometimes that is 1130-230 then bed at 7:45. Those are usually the hardest nights because he starts to get tired and fussy for dinner time. If he takes two naps its 11:30-1:30 and 5-6 pm then bed at 8 pm. He usually sleeps pretty hard on his late nap and I go wake him up at 6 pm. My rule is to have him wake up at least two hours before official bed time. That late nap usually puts him in a great mood for playtime and dinner before bed. Maybe you would be good to move bedtime back to 8 pm so Chase can have a good 30 min- 1 hr nap and wake up about two hours before bed time. It might be worth a try since the time change is coming up and 8pm will soon become 7 pm.
Kendall says
The nap transition is SO HARD. You aren’t alone. I think there are two strategies that can work 1. Slowly push his morning nap back by 15 mins every few days until you hit the desired nap time. This can take awhile and you may feel like you’re taking one step forward and ten back, but you’ll get there. 2. Try giving him a little cat nap in the morning during the transition. Only let him sleep for 15-20 mins, then put him down closer to 11:30/noon and work your way with the 15 mins increments to the desired nap time. This strategy worked best for my son. He took a little 10-15 min cat nap in the car for a few months, but it means that I could put him down at noon and he will sleep for 2-3 hours. I don’t know if Chase is a car sleeper, but mine def is, and I found that during the transition if we went for a ride in the car anywhere near nap time, he would fall asleep and nap time was a bust. Same if I let him nap too long in the morning. BUT, good news, everyone gets through it and you will too. You’re doing a great job, even on the hard days. Hugs, mama.
Sarah b says
You are in that sucky nap time transition phase. Our son was a better morning napper than afternoon (maybe because he also wasn’t a good night time sleeper). When you feel like he is getting ready to go down to 1 nap I would push the morning nap back a little so the awake time before and after nap is a little more balanced. we still had more of a morning nap than most kids his age but that’s just when he slept best. But it may take awhile for that transition to really work and stick. We worked with a sleep consultant (we had serious baby sleep problems) and she said you have to give a new routine something like 5-7 days before you should evaluate its effectiveness because it takes more than 1-2 days for the baby to adjust. I also would take a walk in the stroller after work and if he was really tired he would sleep in the stroller and that extra sleep cycle (40 mins for our guy) really helped.
It’s frustrating but you will get into a rhythm eventually. The transition times suck!
Jennifer says
Hang in there! I HATED nap transitions . …eventually , this too will pass. But ,especially since you’re a working mom, I’m sure it’s very tough. Just be intuitive and take it a day at a time. You won’t always know what he needs, and that’s okay. You just do the best you can with what you’ve got, and know that it won’t all line up the same everyday. You’re never failing as long as you keep trying and adjusting with the flow of life. Looking back, I wish I was way more relaxed with my son!
Dana says
I have read your blog for YEARS and never written before – so HI! I have to chime in on the sleeping (I have to admit, my kids kick butt at sleeping). You need to just put him in for 1 nap at the same time every single day – my daughter is 12:30. Just rip off the band-aid and do it. He is ready for it, and he’s showing that to you. In a week he will be used to it. If he wakes early, leave him in there, he needs the quiet time – unless he is totally screaming his head off. Both my kids go to bed at 6. My daughter is 18 months and my son is almost 4. It is non-negotiable and both of them love it (they don’t know any different). Think of any time in the crib not sleeping as quiet, relaxing time for him. I put my 18month old in her crib at 6 and don’t see her again until 7AM, even though she is awake and babbling by 5:50AM every morning. My son goes in at 6, reads, falls asleep, and gets out of bed at 7AM when his clock turns green and lets him know he can get out. It saves all of our sanity. If we choose to stay out past 6PM, both kids normally end up in PJs before we leave so they can hopefully fall asleep in the car for a quick transition to bed. Good luck!
Melissa says
Hii! I never posted before but love your blog and needed to chime in now. I worked with an amazing sleep consultant for my son and while he is only 9 months, she gave us a guideline for the first year or so. In a nutshell, she said naps should be at 9am and 1pm until 15-18 months. She said try to keep two naps as long as possible – apparently better for baby (and probably moms sanity). She said second nap should start at 1 and last 2-3 hrs (this is once down to one nap). Bedtime at 7/7:30. She said the 9am, 1pm and 7/7:30 bedtime are the best times for the natural rhythm of baby’s sleep.
She also emphasized that during a nap transition phase it is best to push baby’s bedtime 30 min or more earlier to make up for lost sleep. I hope this helps!!

Thank you!!!

My daughter is 2.5 now but at that age her daycare recommended switching to one nap around 12:30. She still sleeps 3 hours on weekends. Yes he may get tired still and will have days that are worse than others but for the most part it will work itself out. Id also recommend a sound machine if you don’t currently use one, with a nightlight in his room but dark otherwise. Good luck.
Cristina Dreis says
Routine, routine, routine, especially with nap time. Transitions are hard but changing nap times daily will ultimately make things harder in the long run. It took us about a month to get into a groove that worked. Stick with the 11:30 nap time and roll with bedtime according to what Chase is telling you. Eventually he will be able to stay awake longer than 6pm and you’ll find a happy medium. Like someone said above, if he wakes up from his nap early let him hang out in his crib for a bit (unless he is screaming bloody murder) They are so smart at this age, i felt like I was being trained by my LO because I used to run and get her as soon as she was up and babbling. Now if i’m in the middle of something she hangs out, it’s not doing her any harm and I can get 15-20 mins more work done.

That phone case is SO freaking adorable! I also adore Billy Joel- he’s the best!

That pumpkin case is AMAZING! I hate/love the age your son is so much. I love it because they are exploring and learning so much but hate it because they are so expressive but so hard to figure out! Have you tried laying him down for a second nap after his short morning naps? Or making a earlier morning nap? With my kids, noon seemed to be the magic number to lay down for a one nap. My littlest is about 3 weeks older than Chase and he’s transitioning too, mostly at home because he does 1 nap at daycare. Lately I’ll take him out to do something, and try to be home by 11 for lunch and he’ll fall asleep in the car. So I push his nap back a little to closer to one if that happens. He usually sleeps 2-3 hours after that. You also might see if Chase is teething! It’s been a monster in our house the last couple of weeks and mine has cried/wanted to be held nonstop every evening. Good luck as I know how stressful this time can be!
Kristi says
It took us about a month to transition from two naps down to one. And honestly, I wasn’t a fan of the idea, because I liked two naps. It seemed like he was ready to though (his morning naps got later and later, and his afternoon naps were getting way too short).
At first, we just kept his morning nap short. Then we started to push it later and later, until the morning and afternoon naps merged. Being consistent definitely paid off. And one longer nap is amazing. You get the whole morning to be out and about, and then a good stretch of downtime in the afternoon. Good luck! 🙂
Melissa says
My daughter is 3 now so I may be a bit off with this but I remember that we would keep her up at night a little bit longer. I am a full time working mom so she has been going to daycare since she was 3 months old and I need her up by 6AM so I can get myself to work on time. Putting her to bed a bit later and still waking her at the same time would make her tired and then school would keep her awake until after lunch and then she would nap like a champ. Once she was good with going down to 1 nap, we were then able to manipulate her bed time again to her normal time. To this day, she typically goes down for a nap around 12ish at school and will sleep about an hour or so but on the weekends, she will sleep 2+ hrs (if I allow her) and will still go to bed at normal time. Hang in there, you will figure it out!

We love that Quinn popocorn — with a little bit of added melted butter 🙂 My nugget is turning 15 months on the 7th and we are in the same nap limbo as you. He goes to daycare 2 days a week and does 1 nap there because that’s the schedule they’re on, but at home he’s been doing a mix of 2 and 1… More 2 naps than anything though. I keep telling myself that someday we’ll get to the mythical 3 hour nap 😉
Katie says
I feel like they just kind of tell you when they are ready. My daughter was around 16 months or so I think. She would take a great morning nap and then as she was transitioning to one, the morning was just naturally getting pushed back later and later. I feel like babies will tell you what they need. Also, if he is resisting his afternoon nap, there isn’t anything wrong with putting him to bed at 6 if he is ready. My daughter would go to bed at 5:30 some nights, she was so tired. But, I would say try to have him eat dinner at 5, and get him in bed by 6 if he is that cranky. He probably still needs that extra hour of sleep, maybe just not in the afternoon anymore. He may even sleep better at night that way also! And for those months my daughter was in bed by 5:30-6, it was wonderful! You had the whole evening to yourself. Just a thought!

Thanks for posting that recipe! It sounded amazing, so I picked up the ingredients at the store this weekend. I also added a splash of wine to the mix toward the end of the cooking and stirred in a little parmesan cheese to thicken it up.
Oh my goodness, IT WAS SO GOOD! My husband loved it, too. Thanks again!

Hi! I have been reading your blog for awhile now and I love it! I have a 17 month old baby boy so it’s been fun to read about your sweet Chase! Quick question for you… what are the type of Nikes you have in the picture of the “Must Try Fitness Apps?” The ones that are light/mint green & gray? I love them… I would be so grateful if you could send me a link for them or the name. Thanks so much!

I loved going to see Adele in concert on Friday night! She was so amazing!! I also loved getting to spend time with my 6 month old niece while I was in Montreal for the concert:) I enjoyed lots of cuddles and gummy kisses! haha
I stopped buying microwave popcorn and started making my own homemade popcorn. I’d love to have an actual air popper, but my microwave method is just as easy. I put the kernels in a brown bag with some oil, pop it in the microwave, and add a little salt and butter once I put it in a bowl…very yummy!

I remember reading this back in the fall and now my 14 month old son is starting the transition and it’s killing me too. I’m literally in tears today due to his lack of AM nap and only a 1.5 hour nap this afternoon. Do you remember when Chase finally dropped the AM nap? I’ve read all the comments and I’m still uncertain as to if I need to try to force the 1 nap a day now to get him on a routine OR play it day by day based on his needs. The unpredictability of it is so unnerving.
