Before the weekend officially kicks off and we (hopefully) spend some time away from our computers, I wanted to be sure to share your weekly Things I’m Loving Friday blog post with you guys. Below you will find a small roundup of some of the things that are making me smile this week. As always, please feel free to join in the fun in the comments section of this post!
Things I’m Loving Friday
- Over-the-Knee Boots
Thank you guys so much for the boot compliments on the blog and Instagram! I actually just ordered the boots about two weeks ago from RueLaLa and can already tell they’re going to be a fall and winter wardrobe staple for me. I ordered them after pinning a few too many over-the-knee outfit pictures on Pinterest and I couldn’t get them out of my mind. I wanted them to have a flat heel so they’re more comfortable and practical for everyday wear and am really happy with the Catherine Malandrino pair I purchased.
In case you’re in the market for some over-the-knee boots, here’s a small selection of a few others (all under $150) that caught my eye!
- Essie Petal Pushers Nail Polish
I Amazon Primed (<- pretty sure that’s a verb nowadays) this beautiful gray color of Essie nail polish after blog reader Kaitlin commented on my Friday post saying Petal Pushers was the “perfect shade of gray.” I’ve been on the lookout for a gray polish for a while and feel like so many of them look almost dirty but Kaitlin’s comment inspired me to look up the Essie polish and investigate. It looked gorgeous – a light gray with subtle hints of a moody light blue – and I ordered it immediately. It arrived on Tuesday evening and I painted my nails with the color that night as Ryan and I watched Jeopardy. I’ve been loving it all week and agree with Kaitlin – It’s the perfect shade of gray!
- This Half-Up Hairstyle
How gorgeous is this half-up twisted hairstyle? I love it!!! I re-pinned it the moment I saw it on Pinterest and think it would be the most gorgeous bridesmaid or romantic date night hairstyle… The Small Things blog walks you through a hair tutorial so you can figure out how to recreate the layered twists at home. My hopes aren’t too high since I know my hairstyling abilities are pretty limited, but it’s on my radar!
- Ashley Spivey’s Snapchat (@ashspi)
This TILF favorite deserves a little bit of backstory. You guys know by now that watching The Bachelor and The Bachelorette is one of my guilty pleasures. Well, I loved Ashley Spivey, one of the women on Brad’s season of The Bachelor, and began following her on social media after she did one of my workouts way back in the day!
Anyway, I was stalking catching up on her Instagram earlier this week (I love her book recommendations and spunky personality) and stumbled upon an old Instagram photo that said she has a Snapchat account where she shares meal prep tips since she’s a nanny and works hard to feed the family she works for and herself a healthy diet. Her Snapchat account (@ashspi) has already given me a bunch of different meal prep ideas for our family and I love it! Just wanted to give it a shout out here in case you’re into healthy meal prep, too!
I am SO excited for this movie!!!!! First, I absolutely love Emma Watson (<— Please tell me someone else out there will forever refer to her as Hermione, too) and since I was basically obsessed with Beauty and the Beast as a little girl, this movie is a must-see for me. The trailer looks so, go good!

Love those boots!! And they are on sale right now. Thanks for sharing!! I’ve tried on a few too many pairs of over the knee boots and they just haven’t fit well (they look a bit too slouchy), but after looking at the measurements of these they look like they may be winners! 🙂 Have a great weekend!
Patricia @Sweet And Strong says
Oh I love finding some good deals on Rue la la! And genius idea to amazon prime nail polish, I always get so upset when I can’t find a certain color. Have a great weekend!
Danielle says
I love Emma Watson!!! So I can’t wait for that movie to come out, and I’m also trying to see Fantastic Beasts & Where to find Them this weekend! It’s almost like the Harry Potter era is back… sigh.
PS. Do you have any tips or workouts to do when you’re sick with a cold? I’m suffering right now but working out makes me feel like CRAP.

I love that you still call her Hermione – my husband asked if i had watched the trailer yet and when I asked who was in it he said (100% seriously) “Hermione Granger” not realizing that wasn’t her name! I got a good laugh out of it.
Have a wonderful friendsgiving weekend!!
Julie says
haha totally! love that he included her last name, too. 🙂
Kelly @ Kelly Runs For Food says
I love gray nail polishes, but I agree they can be hard to find. That one looks really cute! I’m also seriously pumped about the new Beauty and the Beast movie. Of course, they got us all excited and it doesn’t come out for months!
Jen says
Have you seen the Beauty and the Beast side-by-side trailer? I found it yesterday (on accident actually) and loved how close it was to the animated version. Here’s where I saw it: http://screenrant.com/beauty-beast-2017-trailer-2-animated-comparison/
Beauty and the Beast has always been one of my favorites, and I cannot wait to see Hermione as Belle. 😀

Is there any way to get the video to stop playing automatically when you come onto the site? It’s annoying, and prevents me from taking a break at work to read up.
Katy @ Dirt 2 Delish says
The Small Things Blog is AWESOME for hair tutorials. I’ve been stalking her Youtube channel this week since I recently chopped off my hair and am in need of inspiration.
Hope your Friendsgiving is a success! 🙂

That trailer looks so good! It looks like they really tried to make it live up to the animated version. I remember listening to the soundtrack on repeat as a kid. I hope the music is good in this one too!

Bethany @ Accidental Intentions says
I have a Friendsgiving this weekend, too! I’m not hosting, but I’m excited to bring along a new dish I found and eat everyone else’s contributions to the feasting 🙂 I can’t wait for Beauty and the Beast! I’ve always loved that movie, and I really hope the live action version turns out just as amazing as the animated version.
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
Hi Julie! I’m going to a Friendsgiving party tomorrow! And I just returned my OTK boots because they looked terrible after purchasing online, so I will check out your recs for other options. Happy Friday!

Definitely am making your glazed carrots for my family thanksgiving this week! They are a favorite!

That polish is seriously the best color! I was skeptical when I bought it, but I’ve used it weekly almost a month now.
Your pineapple softly is to-die-for. Thank you for sharing it a while back. It is a staple in our family now. 🙂
Alison says
Julie,
I have to thank you for bringing my attention to GOTR. I saw they were looking for volunteers for there 5k in my area. So, I decided to get some of my junior high students and fitness club members together to volunteer at a water stop. It was so much fun despite it being blistering cold! My girls were inspired by the event! So, again thank you for mentioning it on your blog or I would have never knew anything about the organization! 😉
Happy Thanksgiving!
Mila @ fromheartothere says
I can’t WAIT for the Beauty and the Beast movie!!
I’m loving strength workouts this week- my fiancé has gotten me into a steady strength training schedule and it’s changing the way I feel about my body!
Ashlee says
This unseasonably warm weather we’ve been having.. and related to that.. ice cream! I discovered a new protein ice cream (similar to Halo Top for those who like that brand) – at Sprouts called Enlightened. The Hot Cocoa flavor with marshmallow is amaaaaazing.
Nicole says
I just discovered packing cubes and am obsessed with organizing all of my stuff. I’m a flight attendant (Julie you were actually on my flight a few weeks ago but I didn’t realize it until too late) and packing is such a pain, but cubes have made it a lot more fun, and I feel so much more organized.
