It’s Friday!!! Hooray! I hope you all have something fun on the agenda for the weekend, whether it be a whole lot of nothing (<—that seriously sounds fabulous to me) or a jam-packed weekend full of exciting adventures!
Ryan and I don’t have any big plans on our calendar until the end of April so I’m hoping the next few weekends will be a bit relaxing around here. Watching a movie on the couch (or, let’s be real, a random Netflix documentary or Dateline) sounds like the perfect Friday night to me at the moment.
Now let’s get to the real reason you’re probably stopping by the blog today… It’s Things I’m Loving Friday tiiiime! Below you will find a short list of some things I’m lovin’ this week and, as always, I’d love for you to join in the fun and share a little bit about something that is making you smile in the comments section, too!
Whatever the upcoming weekend holds for you, I hope it’s a good one!
Things I’m Loving Friday
- Spring Sneakers from Zappos
Earlier this week the Fagan family got some new sneakers just in time for spring! I’m collaborating with Zappos for some upcoming posts and since I’ve been a longtime fan of the site, I had no trouble quickly picking out sneakers for every member of our little family (with the exception of Sadie because we tried to put doggie boots on her once to protect her feet and she shot us down HARD).
For some reason I gravitate toward ordering shoes off Zappos most frequently (like my slip-on Converse Chuck Taylors) and selected comfy pairs of sneakers for myself, Ryan and Chase. Ryan and I share a love for Nike Flyknit Free Run sneakers (I have them in two colors and they’re my absolute favorite gym shoe at the moment) and since his current pair is dying a slow death from overuse, I ordered him a snazzy new blue pair of the sneakers. Instant hit! (Now that I’m thinking about it, I should’ve saved these for a fun and colorful Easter basket surprise… Oh well. Candy is cool, too!)
I’m not going to lie when I say I was 100 percent convinced to order myself a pair of Nike Lunar Skyluxe sneakers because of the gorgeous plum fog color. It was love at first sight with these babies!
I’ve noticed the sneaker trend veer away from neon everything (a trend I was totally obsessed with for years) and though my eye still gravitates toward lots of color, I am really diggin’ softer hues and loooove the color and fit of these comfy kicks. The sole is thicker and more cushioned than my beloved Flyknits, so I’m looking forward to wearing these for interval running and incline walking workouts (and just to run around town because they’re so darn cute).
For Chase, I could not resist ordering the cutest pair of tiny TOMS since he’s been loving the other pair of TOMS I bought for him when he was just a tiny little peanut in my belly! (They were my very first pregnancy purchase and he can now finally fit in them!)
Chase has been really into shoes lately (if he’s running around barefoot and sees his shoes lying around, he will instantly bring them to me to help him put on) and when I was unpacking his new sneakers, he was so amped up after one shoe went on his foot that he started running around the house before I could put the other one on. Clearly the new shoes are a win!
Thank you so much to Zappos for our new springtime shoes. We are lovin’ them!
Did any of you guys see The Fitness Marshall’s video to Meghan Trainor’s “Me Too” that basically exploded all over the internet a while ago? I may have missed the boat when it was initially released last year but all of the sudden it was everywhere on my Facebook feed a couple of weeks ago and the energy and enthusiasm in this video is absolutely contagious. The Fitness Marshall is SO charismatic and I love the way the choreography is easy enough to follow for people who are typically rather uncoordinated when it comes to dance (ME). If you’re looking for a seriously fun way to work up a sweat and shake your booty, definitely check out The Fitness Marshall’s YouTube channel! (I’ve seen Gina mention this channel on her blog for ages and am kicking myself for never checking it out until now!)
- Crazy-Tongued Sadie
Sadie is a hard little creature to capture in photographs because she seems to have a camera aversion and will often look away from my DSLR camera whenever I pull it out to snap her picture. I can usually get around this with the “burst mode” on my iPhone but love the pictures I capture of her with my real camera so much more. Earlier this week, I was photographing a recipe in my office during Chase’s naptime and Sadie was in the middle of everything, as always. I turned the camera on her and managed to get this picture of her in all her smiley glory! She’s such a happy dog and I love the way this photo seems to capture both her energy and her joy!
- Library Board Books for Car Ride Amusement
I’m such a huge fan of our local libraries (we frequent three of them!) and have recently started checking out an assortment of board books to keep in the car whenever we drop in for story time. Having a variety of new (free!) books for Chase to look at whenever we’re on the road really seems to help cut down on car ride fussiness and I love hearing him babble away has he flips through the pages and points out pictures and animals he recognizes. Board books are perfect because I don’t worry at all about him tearing the crinkly covers or ripping pages!
- Hip Hop BBQ Pandora Station
The Hip Hop BBQ station on Pandora has quickly topped my list of Best Pandora Workout Music Stations, especially for strength workouts. It’s wonderful for throwback hip hop music that instantly leaves me feeling energized and ready to push myself and grab heavier weights. It’s definitely worth a try if you find yourself gravitating toward hip hop music in your workouts!

Question of the Day
What is one thing you are loving this week?
Melissa says
This week, I’m really loving the cereal, Heritage Flakes by Nature’s Path. It’s been years since I’ve had it and recently bought a box to try it again and it reminded me of how much I enjoy them! Their crunchy, made with high quality ingredients like quinoa, etc, and taste great when paired with other cereals, as well!
Christina @ montessoriishmom.com says
Love your new sneakers, so pretty! I am loving that it’s less than a week ’til I get to go see my family for Easter 🙂
Julie says
Woo! Hope you have a wonderful time with your family next week! <3
Brynn says
Loving Sadie’s tongue! I started a new job this week and I’m loving it. I took a leap of faith, followed my gut and it’s working out better than ever expected.
Julie says
So happy to hear this, Brynn! Hope it’s a wonderful fit for you!
Krista @ Gringita says
Love those purple shoes, so cute! Haha I’ve never heard of toddlers who want to wear shoes, it seems to always be that they’re constantly taking them off 😉
Julie says
Me too!! I think he’s just really into shoes in general right now because if I am walking around the house barefoot, he’ll bring me my shoes or slippers, too. Such a weird phase! Haha!!
Shannon Curtis says
LOVE those shoes–just ordered them and so excited to get them! Color is fabulous. Thanks for linking them 🙂
Julie says
Hope you love them!! The color totally sold me, too. 🙂
Heather @ Polyglot Jot says
I have to check out that Pandora station! Sometimes I blast the 90’s pop station while I’m cleaning the house hahaha! This week I’m loving some outdoor lunch days and sunshine! I think Spring’s really here in PA finally!
Hope you have a lovely weekend!
Heather says
It wouldn’t be a Friday night at our house without a Dateline or a 48 Hours Mystery episode.
I am loving that today is my last day of school before spring break! I can’t wait to spend all of next week with my little guy!
Have a great weekend!
Carrie this fit chick says
Woah, seriously love both ofthose shoe colors. That blue is SO vibrant. Never seen a color like it! I love meghan trainor, so Im off to see that. This weekend my boyfriend planned a surprise date night, so im not even sure what im doing!
Allison says
I LOVE your new Nike’s! That color is amazing. Now you’re making me think I need a pair…. And Chase’s tiny Toms are just too cute. I love Toms and have been wearing them for years and every time I buy a new pair at Nordstrom and have to walk by the same ones in baby sizes, my heart melts a little bit and I just want to get them for my future child so we can be twins.
boston runner girl says
those shoes are great! i’m kind of into all black sneakers right now. whether they are a current ‘trend’ or not, i have no idea 🙂
Sue says
Your tips and the comments others left are right on target. I’ve made 6 major moves from one state to another or halfway across the country + several local moves. My best tip to someone making a big move is to take one or two large boxes and put everything needed to make the bed (sheets, blankets, pillows, etc.), everything for a shower (towels, shampoo, soap), and everything to make your favorite morning beverage (coffee pot, filters, coffee, etc.) into those boxes. Mark those boxes with large stickers or stars on every side of the box. Those boxes need to be identifiable from across a room! When you get to the new location, if you can’t do anything else, you can easily make the bed, get a good night’s sleep and get going the next morning!
Also don’t forget to keep important papers and valuables with you.
Chelcie says
If you’re looking for a good Netflix documentary you should watch For Grace! It’s about a chef in Chicago who closes down one restaurant and the process of opening up his own. It’s more about his life than anything else, it’s one of the better documentaries I’ve ever seen!
Julie says
Thank you for the recommendation!
Sue says
Sorry, comment made after reading your moving tips!
Ginger G. says
Ahh! Love the plum color! This is my all time favorite color. This may be a “To:Me From: Me” present. Do they seem to fit true to size?
Julie says
Yes! I actually typically have to order almost a full size up in sneakers but these are true to size!
Aimee says
I think baby Tom’s might just be my favorite thing in the whole world.
Juliette @ Namastay Traveling says
Oh. My. Gosh. Those little toms are the cutest thing. I’m actually wearing the same color as an adult right now..think I might need to buy these for future babies!
Kelli @ Hungry Hobby says
It’s a working weekend for me which I’m not super excited about but I do get to see a good friend this weekend and I am excited about that!
Amber @ Busy, Bold, Blessed says
I’m loving maternity pants!!!! I love those purple shoes, so cute! Happy Friday 😀
Julie says
I’m not pregnant and I still love maternity pants! I have a comfy pair of maternity joggers from when I was pregnant with Chase that I still wear way too often. 🙂
Tanya says
My almost 16 month old Chase is also obsessed with shoes! IF they aren’t on he carries them around ha ha! We also love board books Andy haven’t been to the library recently because their story time is for 2 and up. But I know they have board books so we need to get back there! Thanks for the reminder!
Jan says
A Friday night with Dateline is always good with me! I’m looking forward to getting ready for Passover. Matzah ball soup will be simmering on my stove over the weekend; it’s always the best perfume for my house 🙂
Ash says
I love Hip Hop BBQ! Also, I’m moving at the end of this month, so the flashback to your moving tips has great timing.
Julie says
Good luck with your move! I know it can be very stressful and hope everything goes well for you!
jordan @ dancing for donuts says
i went with pastel sneakers this year, too! neon is great, but i’m all about that pale pink 🙂
sadie is literally the cutest – i finally met a vizsla in person (my friend’s pup) and they’re so loving!
this week i tried garbanzo bean pasta (like how does that even exist) and it was amazing! kind of nutty, and coconutty in a way too, if that makes sense. i highly recommend it if you haven’t tried it yet!

This week I am loving getting back into my normal routine at home! I was in L.A. for the past five days, and it’s so nice finally being back on the east coast and settling in. I absolutely love travel, but there’s nothing like being home!

LOVE Zappos. They offer free next day shipping when you order off the app! I’ve been eying white Converse recently and decided to get the pair you linked to above ?
Julie says
I love them!!! They’re perfect when you want a casual look but don’t want to wear traditional gym shoes. Hope you love them!!
Jessie says
I see you’ve caught on that Friday is synonymous with “Things I’m Loving”! 😉 I always look forward to these posts! It’s so fun to discover new little things that spark joy!
Julie says
So glad you like them! They are almost always my favorite post to write every week!
Kim from MN says
I love your Friday posts, along with everybody else! I’ve gotten a number of tips and ideas from those posts, and I love them! I’m actually LOVING the change to softer palettes in the sneaker world. I have to wear tennis shoes to work because of several broken bones and bone spurs, so it was always difficult when the only shoes I could find were the neon colors – they stood out too much in the workplace. So I’m lovin’ this soft trend!
Speaking of tips – thanks for the hip hop bbq station mention! I looooooove throwback songs and r&b while I work out, so this is great! Also, just have to say that those pics of Chase and his teeny tiny adorable shoes are just giving me all the feels! (everyone who knows me knows that I am obsessed with toddler shoes. So cute!). Lol on that pic of Sadie.
Fitness Marshall: I love watching Whitney Way Thore’s “Big Fat Fabulous Life” on TLC, and she had an appearance with him in one of her episodes this season (a week or so ago), so that was the first time I heard of him too, and he’s amazing! I’m on board! I love that includes all sizes in his workouts, it’s so body-positive!
Thanks for the great post, as always!
Leonie says
I just want to thank you for the foundation brush that you suggested, a while ago!
I finally found one in South Africa, and it works better than other brush with its oval form and lots of close together little `hairs’
Thanks again for the excellent suggestion
Julie says
isn’t it amazing!?!?! i LOVE that brush and feel like it does a much better job at coverage than my fingers for sure!
