Other than Chase’s birthday party, we’re planning to fill the rest of our weekend with quality time with my in-laws. I’m hoping the weather is nice and sunny so we can spend some time on the boat and enjoy the sunshine. I’ll be sure to recap everything on the blog for you guys next week but before I unplug for the weekend, I wanted to share my usual Things I’m Loving Friday roundup of favorites with you guys this morning!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Things I’m Loving Friday

This Photo
I snapped this photo on my big camera a couple of weeks ago but it wasn’t until I uploaded some recipe photos earlier this week that I saw it for the first time. I love this picture so much because it perfectly captures our crazy, chaotic life with two boys. Sometimes it feels like our house is one big noisy mess because of activities like the one you see above (Chase driving his plasma car and Ryder holding onto the back and both of them screaming and laughing) but something inside of me seriously loves this little circus. Embrace the madness!

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
My mom read The Silent Patient a while back and recommended it to me and it did not disappoint! I was looking for a thriller to read but didn’t want one overly suspenseful that would keep me up all night and this book fit the bill. Please don’t take that to mean it’s not intense and suspenseful in parts but the book read more like a psychological mystery than a thriller for me. To me, it wasn’t a true thriller with a fast pace and pages that cause your heart to beat a little faster but that does not mean it didn’t have all of the twisty, riveting aspects of a thriller. It kept me fully engaged and it was the kind of book I couldn’t wait to crawl into bed to read before bed.
Alicia Berenson is a painter and the “silent patient” that gives the book its name. She lived a seemingly perfect life until the day when she shot her husband in the face five times… and then never spoke another word. Psychotherapist Theo Faber has been waiting to work with Alicia and, after he’s hired to treat her at the psychiatric until where she resides, becomes determined to help her find her voice. What unfolds is a book with an intelligent plot, a shocking twist and intriguing characters. A must read if you’re looking for a book that will shock you!
These soft little sneakers I recently ordered for Ryder off Amazon are so darn adorable! They’re only $10 and I’ve been slipping them on Ryder’s feet almost everyday since they arrived. There are lots of color combinations on the site for boys and girls and I think they’re such a cute find!

Jennifer Garner’s Instagram Account
I don’t follow many celebrities on Instagram but of the select handful I follow, Jennifer Garner is my absolute favorite. She’s such a delightful human and is simultaneously a ray of sunshine and refreshingly real. She also frequently shares other accounts that make me smile (like the video on this one) and is worth a follow if you need a little boost of happiness in your day.

Leg Day Workout
Yesterday’s Burn Boot Camp leg day workout was a good one! It was an AMRAP white board workout meaning you went through as many rounds of the workout as possible in the allotted time (I got through two rounds) and my glutes, quads and hamstrings definitely felt the burn. Here are links to the exercises (+ a little more detail on the workout) if you’d like to give them a try: B-Stance RDL / Box 1-Leg Thrusters / Walking Lunges (with a pause to pulse three times at the bottom of the lunge) / Glute Ladder: Pair 10 reps of Banded Glute Raises with 10 reps of Banded Bridge Press Outs then 9 of each, 8 of each… / Stability Ball Curls / Medicine Ball Wall Sit with Calf Raise (squeeze medicine ball between your knees in the wall sit position and complete calf raises in this position)

What is one thing making you smile this week?
Torrie @ To Love and To Learn says
Happy birthday to Chase! My daughter just turned 4 in April, and it really is such fun to see how much they “get” it by that point–makes the planning and execution even more fun 🙂
One thing making me smile this week is that we recently scored a free month trial of Netflix (again), which is the first time we’ve had it for well over a year. I’d been wanting to see the adaptation they did of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (which I read last summer and thought was a lot of fun), and I was delighted by what a great job they did with it. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a chick flick I enjoyed so much!

I also follow Jennifer Garner and I LOVE her! She’s hilariously relatable and someone I know I’d love to be friends with! 🙂

Jennifer Garner’s account is hilarious! I also follow Reese Witherspoon, and that’s a good one too. So is Jewel Staite (if I spelt her last name right). I hope Chase’s birthday party is so much fun!! Hard to believe he’s FOUR! That means my little girl will be 4 in Oct, *cue the tears!* Have a great weekend!

Oh my goodness Ryder’s little shoes are adorable. You can’t beat slip on shoes for toddlers. Do you think they fit him true to size??

I had to laugh about Chase knowing his birthday this year, Sully’s is on Wednesday and he had a little celebration at daycare friday so when someone asked him this weekend how old he was ..he replied “I’m 4!” so I said well almost your birthday is in a few days, and he insisted I was wrong ! ha Love those kids …
I love Jennifer Garner too, have you seen her do her ‘mock’ cooking show on Instagram it’s so funny!! Also Donte is from Toronto and we are all obsessed with him in Canada too!!
Hope you had an amazing weekend!
