Our Easter plans will obviously be low key and right now the two main things we have on the agenda include an egg hunt for the boys and baking a bunny cake together. (The big decision will be which bunny cake to make — this one or this one. <– Oh hi blog posts from 10 YEARS ago!)
I am planning to reap our weekend on the blog on Monday but until then, I wanted to stick with Friday tradition around here and share a roundup of thing I’m loving this week. Please feel free to participate in the comments section of this post!
Things I’m Loving Friday

Unpopular Opinion Lists
Have you guys seen these lists floating around the internet lately? They are basically lists of things you don’t like or enjoy that the general public seems to love. I find them so amusing! Ryan and I laughed a lot when we chatted about our respective lists last weekend and I ended up reaching out to my parents and my college friends about their lists as well. The group texts that ensued had me laughing out loud! The above list is my Unpopular Opinion list and I’d love to hear about some of the things that would make it onto your list!

The Antidote for Everything by Kimmery Martin
Last year I read Kimmery Martin’s debut novel, The Queen of Hearts and it quickly became one of my favorite reads of 2019. I was incredibly excited to dive into her latest novel, The Antidote for Everything, and it proved to be another winner. (I would still absolutely recommend The Queen of Hearts over it though, so if you’re going to read one, start with that novel!) The author is a former emergency room doctor and weaves her medical knowledge into her novels which I find fascinating. (Think Grey’s Anatomy-style drama but with more wit, intelligence and interesting twists.) The Antidote for Everything follows Georgia, a urologist who works at the same clinic as her best friend, Jonah, a fellow doctor recently fired for treating transgender patients. As Jonah and Georgia come together to try to make the situation right and salvage Jonah’s job, secrets are revealed, terrible decisions are made and lives are changed forever.

Quick and Sweaty Cardio Workout
I actually did a cardio workout at home this week. What!?! It was very fast-paced which is key for cardio for me when I’m doing it in our garage and shockingly passed by pretty darn fast. Bonus: I was super sweaty by the end of this beast!

Actually Managing to Accomplish Some At-Home Organization Projects
When we first began practicing social distancing and spending all of our time at home, I had visions of all of the organization projects I’d finally have time to accomplish. Apparently I forgot to consider the fact that I’m a mom to two young boys and I use basically every second of weekday free time to keep my head above water on the blog work front or squeeze in a quick 30-minute workout. Well, this week I somehow got a burst of energy at the end of the day (I always joke that once the boys go to bed, my body collapses and my brain collapses right along with it) and I managed to tackle a few organization projects on my to-do list. It felt AMAZING. I went through Ryder’s baby clothes, sorted through my winter clothes and shoes to find things to donate and cleaned out my office closet. Hopefully I can keep riding this organizational wave because every time I open my office closet it feels like a breath of fresh air not to have total chaos staring back at me.

This Meme
The memes floating around the internet right now are providing me with some much-needed laughter during such a weird and crazy time. The above meme had me laughing out loud because, as a Lion King fan, I could totally hear the animal’s voices in place of the words and it just killed me! “I WILL BE SCHOOL!” So, so good!

Friday Flashbacks
Cheesepuff Casserole (Our family’s favorite breakfast casserole to serve on holidays!)
Best Every Morning Glory Muffins (This recipe from a local bakery is a little more time-intensive but perfect for a special occasion like Easter.)
Question of the Day
What are some things that would make it onto your “unpopular opinion” list?
Are you doing anything fun to celebrate Easter in a different way this year?
What is one thing making you smile this week?
Maureen says
Laura Vitale (laurainthekichten on Youtube and mrsvitale on Instagram) posted a recipe for quiche lorraine with a hashbrown crust so I’m going to make that for brunch on Sunday! It’ll probably just be me eating it since my boyfriend isn’t a big breakfast person but I’ll have a prepped meal for all week so I think it’ll be great.
Julie says
That sounds like heaven!!!!
Emily R says
Completely agree with you about The Goonies! I have never liked it to the point that it almost frustrates me. Another one for me would have to be wine. Every once in awhile I find a white wine that is tolerable but it’s definitely not my go-to drink of choice.
Theresa says
My biggest unpopular decision is: I think Beyoncé is over
rated. LOLOL! I’m always scared to admit this because I feel like she has such a massive fan base..:but it’s how I truly feel ?
Julie says
if it makes you feel any better Beyoncé actually came up in my group text with my college friends and you are not alone in that opinion apparently!
Katie says
Omg I agree with so many of yours!!! 1, 2, 4, 6 (I get gel done monthly but dread the process), 7, 8, 9, 10!
I don’t love going to the movies (I’m more of a TV show girl). I feel like there’s definitely more but I’d have to give it some thought.
Julie says
Movies actually almost made my list! Of course there are exceptions but for the most part I get so restless and bored during most movies. They’re just too long!
Lauren says
Julie, I’m sorry but how on this glorious green earth do you NOT LIKE Goonies!! Cookies Never Say Die!! The best movie of all time!!
Boat time and on line church is all we have planned. Stay safe!
Julie says
Ha!! My theory is that the people who really like it grew up watching it and it’s more of a nostalgia thing. I saw it for the first time as an adult and just could not get into it!
Elissa Crain says
I don’t understand anything Harry Potter!
Sara Wilson says
Same!
Alexis says
“ I always joke that once the boys go to bed, my body collapses and my brain collapses right along with it” Yeeees! I tell people this all the time. I told my husband last night that I always have all these grand plans for after the kids go to bed and then I crash!
Abby says
I got very excited reading your unpopular opinion list because I also don’t like cheesecake (and ALL cakes and frosting lol, can’t stand em) and I think The Goonies is just okay. I’ve seen it once and have no desire to rewatch it.
Julie says
I always hate it when cheesecake is the only thing on a restaurant’s dessert menu!
Sara Wilson says
Julie, I love your list! I have read your blog for 4.5 years and am just now realizing that you never wear jeans! I don’t think I have worn jeans in about a month but I love the boot cut jeans from White House Black Market!
My list would include scary movies, beer, wine, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, watching sports (not including gymnastics, cheerleading, or ice skating!), running, and Instagram perfection – ha! 🙂
Sara Wilson says
And Lost – ha!
Julie says
Haha! I wear them but veeeery sporadically — I just never feel comfy/confident in them so typically opt for something else!
Joanna says
I totally agree with you saying your brain and body collapses after your boys go to sleep! I have two boys similar ages and I am done once their asleep! One thing I’ve been enjoying with my husband is a show called Banished on Netflix. It’s a historical drama set in the late 1700s in Australia. British convicts sent there as punishment, it is so good! Have a happy Easter!
Julie says
That show sounds so interesting! Thanks for sharing!
Joanna says
Sorry, I meant to say it’s on Amazon Prime!
Tara says
I love the unpopular opinion list! I agree with you re cheesecake, manicure and naps. I’d have to add Harry Potter, Cartoons, appointments of any kind (maybe no one enjoys these but even for massages I tend to dread any appointment on my schedule haha), movies (I struggle to sit through an entire movie in one sitting)
Thanks for posting this! I’ll have to share as it gave me a good laugh, especially cuz I could relate. Except with naps, I’m not jealous. I started being able to nap when I got pregnant but I did so very reluctantly and resented the fact that I had to. There are so many better things to do than sleep haha 😉
Jennifer says
My unpopular list would be The Office. I just find it crude and not funny at all
Jessie R says
Same! I never got The Office!
Jessie R says
I agree with so many on your list! I don’t think I’ve ever seen Goonies and while I like having painted nails, I can’t stand the price of a manicure. So I paint them myself when I think about it. Our household doesn’t watch any sports (outside the Olympics) and people can’t believe it. KC was in the super bowl and no one could believe we weren’t watching the game!
Katie says
I love the unpopular opinion list!
Mine would include: Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, eggs, manicures or nail polish on fingernails in general (agreed with you!), California rolls, cars, and football. Haha.
Bailey says
I don’t like fruit pie (or warm fruit in general) or flip flops. Or jeans 🙂
Mary Katherine says
I feel the same way about sweet tea (a blasphemy since I live in the south), naps, and the Goonies! I had friends in college who were obsessed and made me watch it and I just don’t get it!
Sara says
Oh I have to agree with Star Wars and Lord of the Rings! I wanted to mention to you all that as someone who must have her nails polished at all times (and I always wear the exact same color!) I do them myself now but I spent a good four years going weekly to the same girl at my neighborhood salon. However, I always asked for a “polish change” rather than a manicure or pedicure! It takes less time and is much cheaper! 🙂 unfortunately my last two nail appointments (over four years ago!) we’re so bad that I have now said no one can ever touch my nails again! But Julie, getting my hair done is my favorite! I always say that if I ever won the lottery I would go to Dry Bar daily like Tinsley (used to) on the Real Housewives of NYC. Ha!
Hannah says
We usually do Easter at my husbands grandparents house with his entire family, around 25 of us every year. I am so, so sad to not be seeing our families this year. But my mother in law is making an entire ham dinner with all the fixings and we are going to have a drive by visit and pickup our portion of the meal she is making. I’m sure there will be lots of tears from me, especially as my heart is breaking not being able to see my parents, in laws, and my husbands grandparents who all live within 10 minutes of us. It kills me to see how much they are all missing my little boy, and how he misses them, but I’m trying to focus on appreciating all the love there is in our lives and that we are all still healthy. Hope y’all have a wonderful Easter Julie!

Unpopular list:
Cherry anything

The Beatles ( sorry)
The Beach Boys
Golf ( most boring sport ever)

Starbucks( cannot justify cost)
Bruce Springsteen
Bethany @ Accidental Intentions says
I’m totally with you on Seinfeld. I know that the whole premise of the show is that it’s a show about nothing, but that’s what I dislike the most about it. I don’t mind of a sitcom is episodic, because it can be nice to watch a random episode of a sitcom you’ve never seen before and understand what’s going on without needing to see the previous how ever many seasons/episodes, but I MUCH prefer an episodic sitcom that has some sort of overall story weaving the whole thing together, too. Not my cup of tea, that’s for sure!
