Hello from Boston!
Travel went smoothly for me yesterday (thank goodness) and I arrived in Boston in the late afternoon. Ever since I touched down, it’s been go-go-go here, but that’s a good thing because I’m having a blast! I’ll be sure to fill you guys in on the fun as soon as I have a moment to sit down with my laptop after Saturday’s races.
In the meantime, let’s chat about things we’re loving this week, shall we?
Things I’m Loving Friday
- This Picture
If you replace the cat with Sadie, this happens in our house every single day.
Since I don’t have the ability to pop into a Garrett’s in Chicago and get fresh, warm Chicago mix popcorn, this will have to do! And it’s a pretty fabulous substitute. If you’re a fan of the sweet and salty flavor combination, grab a bag and go to town. But be warned: It’s addicting!
- Airport Coffee Shops with Almond Milk
High five to the little coffee stand in the Washington, DC airport! Almond milk cappuccinos and lattes are my coffee shop drink of choice and since it’s still relatively hard to find, I’m always super pumped when almond milk pops up in unexpected places. (C’mon and embrace almond milk already, Starbucks.) I never thought I’d find almond milk lattes in an airport, but DC proved me wrong during my layover yesterday. Woop!
- November Project Workout
This morning I had the chance to experience my first November Project workout in Boston and it was AMAZING. The camaraderie and enthusiasm blew me away and I didn’t even realize how much I was sweating until the workout was over. The November Project is a *free* fitness movement that was born in Boston as a way to encourage others to stay in shape during the cold New England months. It’s taken off in a bunch of cities and all you need to do to participate is show up. Hundreds of people came for today’s 6:30 a.m. workout and everyone was so friendly! I loved it!
And this is what happens when someone wants to take a post-workout picture and says “serious faces only.”
I will break out in giggles. Such a liability.
- Photo Clean Up
Traveling always gives me a little time to go through my computer and iPhone and delete hundreds of pictures. I had fun flipping through various albums and stumbling upon some older photos that never made the blog during my flight to Boston yesterday. Here are a few outtakes surrounding my sister’s wedding that didn’t make the cut:

Question of the Day
- What is one thing you’ve been loving this week?
The “runner up dress” is gorgeous! Do you know who makes it?
I’m not sure! If you are really interested, I know it was from the White Magnolia in Jacksonville. They might be able to help! Wish I had more info!
LOVE that runner up dress, and of course her actually dress was even more gorgeous! I could look at wedding dresses for days…. Also Almond milk at a coffee stand in an airport? Too good to be true… ha ha
Welcome to Boston! I’ve been dying to try out the November Project, but as a school teacher, I have to be at work super early, and I’ve never been able to make it!
Good luck during the race tomorrow! If you’re looking for a cool place to eat in the Copley area (not sure where you’re staying), but you should definitely try Sweet Green. They have the most amazing salads, all with locally grown food and delicious homemade lemonade that changes its flavors weekly!
Thank you for the recommendation!
I absolutely love the idea behind November Project! I just researched it! I’d love to bring one to my southern city, but they’re not expanding at the moment and I also wouldn’t be their “ideal” leader haha. Super great concept though and I love the community involvement aspect of fitness! Have fun in Boston! 🙂 Can’t wait to see what fitness inspiration you send our way!
I just laughed so hard at the “serious face” after-workout photo. Thanks for brightening my morning!
I can’t handle serious faces! I’m horrible.
The Starbuck’s in my hood is trying out coconut milk and I must say it was quite tasty!
I loved Leslie’s final wedding dress pick! The one above is beautiful but her final pick was timeless 🙂
I have yet to find a coffee made with almond milk that I love!! There aren’t many places in California that offer it either. And omg ahahahahahaha that picture of the cat, that is my cat all the way. If I don’t let her in, she tries to open it by sticking her paw under the door and grabbing the edge with her claws and shaking it. It sounds like she is taking the door down, so NBD haha.
I’m heading to Dallas after work today to go to George Strait’s last concert!! I’m so excited to spend some time with my girlfriends there, tailgate, and listen to some great live music!
Ohh – and GO SPURS!!!
Who made your sister’s wedding dress? I recently got engaged and love it!
Um, I’m loving that you’re in Boston! My sisters and I have been huge PBF fans for years and the three of us are doing the Hat Trick this weekend. Hopefully we see you! Thanks for bring the Florida sunshine up to our city 🙂
Hope to see you, too!! And good luck!!!!
The November Project sounds so neat! I love team workouts like that. They are just too much fun. This week, I have been loving my iced half passion half green tea from Starbucks. I have been getting one every afternoon lately. Yum!!
Oh my word! Serious faced pictures are the worst!!! I definitely need to clean the pictures off my phone too, pretty sure I have over 1000 pictures again. Whoops! This week I am loving that fresh peaches are in season again. I’ve been adding them to everything 🙂 Have a great time this weekend in Boston.
I am right there with you on Starbucks upping their game and using almond milk. COME ON!!!!
I love your bracelets!! Can you tell me who makes them (you are wearing them in the coffee pic). Good luck in your races!
Thank you!! I ordered them on sale through HauteLook and the brand is Cam & Zooey.
My dog does the same thing-he just pushes his way into the bathroom no matter who is in there! Your sister’s runner up dress was beautiful, but of course her 1st choice was amazing and she looked fantastic on the big day!
Have fun in Boston!
Welcome to Boston! I love when coffee shops have almond milk! I also hope Starbucks jumps on that soon! I don’t eat any dairy and can’t stand it that Dunkin’ Donuts still does not have soy or almond milk!
Very cool to find almond milk. Agree the runner up dress is stunning!
I am loving lovebeets this week! Was too lazy to slow cook them so picked these up at whole foods and have been putting them in every salad. Time and mess saved was much appreciated 🙂
Popcorn!!! Yum! I am loving my new way of making popcorn, which I am proud to say does not involve the microwave! Popping the corn and then turning it into some magical kettle corn is very delish and fun 🙂
My mom won four free tickets to go see The Jersey Boys movie this coming Thursday. So me, my mom, dad, sister, and brother in law (he’s buying his own ticket, since there’s only 4) are going to the movie and dinner afterwards. The best part is that I’ll be using one of my three absences for class so it’ll definitely be worth it. Super excited!!!!
I’ve heard such amazing things about the November Project in Boston. I’m glad you got to experience it!
I’ve been loving smoothies a TON lately. It’s crazy.
Chicago mix popcorn sounds so good though….mmm
Welcome to Boston!!!!! just wanted to extend a warm welcome as i have followed your blog now for several years and I’m thrilled to see you are here in my city! i hope you enjoy it and so glad you liked november project, its so fun! i hope you are able to experience the very best of Boston while you are here, its a special place that i am proud to call home.
Thank you Katharine! Loving it so far!
Love finding out a coffee shop has almond milk — now if only they didn’t charge extra for it! One day 🙂 I did a Things I’m Loving Friday post too — one of my things: fresh hydrangeas for my dining room. Happy Weekend!
Have a blast in Boston! That November Project workout sounds fun. Psst… HI ANNE! 🙂
Ahhhhh that’s so cool that you got to do a November Project workout!eversincr I first heard about them and especially after the Runners World profile on them I have thought they were so neat! One of my favorite things about running is the sense of community!
haha that cat picture reminds me so much of my dog Boo. Its a daily battle with her to prevent her little paws from pushing open the bathroom door!
So excited that you’re up in my neck of the woods!! I’m also running the Heartbreak Hill Half, I hope I see you there! 🙂
I’m loving that today is the last day of school for my kids. Nothing makes me happier than spending the summer with them doing whatever we want with no schedules or homework!
Love that!
Blogs collide! I don’t know why but I nearly choked when I saw Katie from Runs for Cookies standing beside you in the “serious” photo. I hope you’re having a blast!
I have been all about chocolate PB2 this week! It will never replace my beloved peanut butter, but it makes a create addition to my usual banana-vanilla rice protein smoothie!
Garrett’s popcorn is definitely the best!
I’m loving that we leave on vacation today!! That’s kept me distracted most of this week 😉
Welcome to Boston! Hope you have a great time–supposed to be a gorgeous weekend!
That runner-up dress is gorgeous, though the one she went with is equally beautiful. Must have been such a hard choice!
I’m loving overnight oats, still! They have been hitting the spot the past week and I’m making myself not have them every.single.day.
Ahh I see you were with Anne for the November Project! She and I have gone to the DC November Project a few times together, but we haven’t been back in a couple months. The DC one is a lot of fun (apparently 200 people went this last week!) but it’s a bit repetitive in that you just run up and down the steps of the Lincoln Memorial a bunch of times. I’m curious to see how the Boston one compares!
Yes!! I did most of the workout with her! So fun!!!!
I LOVE Chicago mix popcorn. Nuts on Clark is amazing, and you can get it right in Midway airport!!! I am not even ashamed to say I have chosen a layover in MDW for this exact reason!!!
Outtake photos are the best – they capture a moment way better than a posed photo! My biggest love from this week was that I graduated from university!
I love finding coffee shops with almond milk- such a total score! I’ve been loving the return of Orange is the New Black!
Ha! That cat picture is how I feel when I babysit.. too funny!
The runner-up dress was gorgeous, but I love the one she used!!!
The November project is such a nice idea! No excuses, and I believe that being part of a group must make it interesting and entertaining!!
Finally the almond milk, I wonder why starbucks doesn’t include it yet? They should (though I’m not coffee lover, I love hot chocolate, and I would prefer the almond milk option as well) Have a nice day!!
I’m looking for a bridal-looking dresses for my upcoming showers and rehearsal dinner. Could you please ask Leslie where her white polka dot dress is from?
What I’ve been loving this week is the support and love of my fiance’ and my family. We’ve had rough, “Murphy’s Law” kind of week, but we got through it together. <3
I did my own sleuthing for those who are also interested…
It appears to be the sleeveless polka dot mesh dress from the Jill Jill Stuart collection. It’s on clearance at Dillard’s online, but it is a final sale item.
That popcorn mix sounds so good! I love a sweet and salty mix! I’m sure I’ll get addicted!
I like the picture of you and your sister before she walked down the aisle. You’re both beautiful!
welcome to Boston!
1. I’m SO jealous your doing the hat trick! It’s on my race list for NEXT year!! haha
2. Almond milk at the airport coffee shop?! You scored BIG time lady! 😉
3. I wish Columbus, OH had a November Project!!!! But I would never wanna lead it by myself!! haha
4. That cat is SO my cat! lol
That picture is so funny with the cat. My pups love to do that too….ha.
The November Project workout sounds so cool, what a neat thing! Boston is the COOLEST city, and I can’t wait to go in August this year! 🙂
I think you should start a new blog series “photo outtakes” hehehe
Yay! So happy to see Katie from RunsForCookies in your Boston serious face picture! I love both your blogs.
Almond milk is by far my favourite non dairy milk! The Barista in work swears by a mix of oat and rice milk for the perfect latte!
Oh man, how did Leslie choose?! Both are gorgeous! But I love the lace of the dress that she chose. And the picture of your dad, Leslie and you is precious – a framer for sure. 🙂
The back of your sisters dress is gorgeous! I hope I find one like that when the time comes for me 🙂
