Happy, happy Friday, my friends! I hope you’re feeling extra chipper today and ready for a fun weekend ahead.
Ryan and I have a fairly open agenda which is absolutely perfect. Is it bad that all I really want to do tonight is sit on the couch, order pizza and watch an embarrassing number of episodes of Homeland? I fear that show is going to make me anti-social… I’m addicted!
Before our Homeland marathon tonight, we must get through the final work day of the week. I’m off to the gym to work for most of the day and teach PiYo for the second time. Last week’s class went well and I was definitely relieved to get the first class under my belt! I spent some more time this week brushing up on the choreography and hope today’s class goes even better.
And now here is your weekly Things I’m Loving Friday post where we all chat about what we’re loving most every week. Please feel free to participate in the comments section of this post! Have a great weekend, everyone!!
Things I’m Loving Friday
- Bath & Body Works A Thousand Wishes Body Butter
I bought this last weekend when Ryan and I went to the mall after brunch on Sunday. Bath & Body Works was in the middle of a HUGE sale and I picked up a tub of this fantastic smelling body butter for $7 and have been using it every day since. My skin cannot get enough moisture these days, so this body butter is saving me!
I received this perfume as a stocking stuffer on Christmas and fell in love with the bright fruity/floral scent. The size is perfect for throwing in my purse for when I might need an on-the-go refresher!
This stuff is salty, creamy and so, so delicious. I received a jar from my blogging buddy Tina and totally understand her love for this peanut butter. I cannot really pinpoint what it is about Teddie peanut butter that makes it taste better than most all-natural peanut butters I’ve tried out there, but I am a huge fan and cannot seem keep my spoon (okay, my finger) out of the jar! Bonus: The only two ingredients are roasted peanuts and salt. No sugar or freaky ingredients to be found!

Cat Alarm Clocks are the Best Alarm Clocks (Adorable!) + Dog Alarm Clocks are the Best Alarm Clocks (Story of my life.)
Ryan got me hooked on sleeping with a small oscillating fan on for some ambient noise a few years ago. Now I, too, love a little white noise when I’m trying to sleep and ever since our space fan broke we’ve been using the Relax Melodies app at night (urban rain + oscillating fan = winning combination) and love it. We also use it when we travel, which I highly recommend if you’re used to sleeping with an oscillating fan at home. The app is great for drowning out street noise and definitely helps me zone out.
- Beanie + Sweater Info
I just wanted to quickly highlight where my oversized sweater and beanie are from after a bunch of questions from you guys on Monday! The sweater is from Stitch Fix (the brand is Ellison) and the beanie can be found here on Amazon for $13! I couldn’t find the exact sweater online, but here are some similar oversized pullover striped sweater options (all under $40): Super Stripe Tunic Top, Striped Boyfriend Sweater, Horizontal-Stripe Sweater… And this option is my favorite (in white), but it’s pricier: Oversize Stripe Tunic

Bath and Body Work’s Body Butter is pretty much the best thing! Especially this time of year. I am still fully stocked from the LAST semi-annual sale, so I have not been in to check out the new scents.
Alex says
We used the relaxed melodies for my kid when he goes to bed! I love that we can mix sounds together!!
You should try Violet Lily Sky from Bath and Body Works – my favorite smell hands down!
Julie says
i’ve never seen that one! i’ll keep my eyes out!
Alex says
It is just back for the big sale! I haven’t seen the butter version but the body wash is great, smells like Spring 🙂
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
Congrats on your first PiYo class, Julie! As far as sleep apps go, I haven’t checked out the one you mentioned but I’ve been using Sleep Cycle for almost a year now and I love it! It’s brilliant for tracking your nightly movements and sleep quality, and it’s got calming music to gradually fall asleep and wake up to. Much nicer than waking up to a blaring alarm!
Tiff @ Love, Sweat, & Beers says
Girl, you’e gotta call me the next time you’re headed to Terrace Cafe. Love it! 🙂
I need to check out those French dip sandwiches. They sound tasty!
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment says
I have tried a couple of different sleep apps too. I also really like ocean sounds. We keep a fan going in our bedroom and that’s enough for me lately. I must be tired. 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy Homeland. I think it makes everyone anti-social. Total addiction.
Meghan says
Funny fact: that is the EXACT combination of noises I use on that exact app every night! 🙂
I really can’t sleep without it now… I’m a very light sleeper and it helps me block out the random noises my dog makes at night! lol
Julie says
no way!! sleep twins!! 🙂
Faith VanderMolen says
My sister just introduced me to your blog and I just finished one of you workouts. Phew! I’m pooped!! I love peanut butter and also just ordered a C.C hat from amazon in grey. Looks like I’ll be stopping by often. Glad I found you!
Julie says
thanks so much for reading, faith! happy to have you here! 🙂
Shawna says
Teddie pb is great, i totally agree. this week, i’m loving Naturally More Almond butter, and the amazing oversized sweaters (and so many other sale items) that are 50% off the sale price (!!!) at Urban Outfitters right now. i went after work yesterday to shop for a friend, and i’m running back out during lunch today for sure.
Amanda @ Slimplify Life says
I’m all about the beanie these days. But I have to be careful because as soon as I take it off my hair is a hoooot mess.
Happy Friday, I hope it is wonderful!
Run Eat Play says
That sleep app is interesting! I’ll have to look into it!
This week, I’m loving the Serial podcast! i’m a little late to jump on the Serial bandwagon but I’m already halfway through the season!
Jessica says
I love that sweater and beanie from Stitch Fix! I am just getting started with Stitch Fix and I love your style. You seem to get really cute things from there. Can you give me any tips on how you set up your account preferences and style type? Also, I would love to see a post on a Stitch Fix box and what you liked , didn’t like, kept and returned!
Julie says
Hi Jessica!! I went through the normal style preferences set up through Stitch Fix, but I constantly request specific items I see on other blogs/Pinterest (if you search “Stitch Fix” on Pinterest, you can always find a bunch!) — I also made sure to link my Fashion Pinterest board to my Stitch Fix account b/c they say this REALLY helps your stylist get a better feel for outfits/styles you like!
Mocha And Moccasins says
Homeland was such a good show! I haven’t caught up on the latest season, but now I’m tempted! I’ve been watching Suits non stop and I’m obsessed! and Honey is such a lovely fragrance. I haven’t found a Marc Jacobs fragrance I didn’t like.
UnlockingKiki says
Body Shop body butter is saving my skin this winter! All I want to do is curl up on the couch tonight as well and binge watch some tv shows! Winter hibernation.
Sarah says
That app looks awesome! I have to sleep with the fan on because I like the noise, but these past few nights it’s been so dang cold, I’ve had like 3 blankets just so I could still have the fan on. Maybe and app like this would solve the problem!
Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties says
I used to be addicted to white noise while sleeping, too! I’m also addicted to lotion this week- my skin has been SO DRY its terrible!!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine says
Sweaters and beanies are my life! (when I;m not in workout clothes!)
Okay, I am so picking up that PB! I keep seeing it and it’s cheap, so I should totally give it a try!
Christina M says
I love that 15 Things to Stop Doing in 2015 article you linked to! 🙂 🙂 I’m loving the slightly chilly weather here… we don’t ever get much so when we do, I soak it all in!!
Good luck on your second class – you will do amazing!!
Cally McCurdy says
Soap & Glory’s A Great Kisser lip moisture balm in juicy peach. It’s my favorite lip balm of all time, especially helpful in the winter! Not only does it smell like peaches, but it gives your lips a pretty tint. Their body butter is also incredible!
yaitza says
I live in cozy sweaters and beanies too.. I have to admit that the beanie is to hide my dirty hair most of the time.. lol
Claire says
The whole bone broth trend really makes me laugh. It’s just stock. I make a pot every week to have on hand for recipes because it’s so much more flavorful and cheaper than the store bought stuff. It also encourages me to buy cheaper cuts of beef/chicken and trim them myself instead of buying boneless and skinless. I love stock-but I’m not drinking it for the health benefits anytime soon.
Liz says
I am loving our new puppy! She is quite the handful, but I think she will turn out to be a fine dog. She is a silver lab and we named her Nika! So adorable and the sweetest little thing 🙂
Natalie @ Never Serious Blog says
Body butter is my saving grace in the winter when I feel like my skin is getting dry! I do love that beanie, but it looks like it’s already sold out, bummer!
Bethany @ Accidental Intentions says
Much to my dismay, I discovered soon after I moved in August that some of my new neighbors (who are in their mid 50s, btw) turns their garage (which faces my window) into a man cave every weekend night during the summer (which probably wouldn’t be a *huge* issue for most people, but for those of us who go to bed at like 8:30 on Friday nights in the summer because we have to get up at 4:45 on Saturday morning to do our marathon training long runs, this was definitely a HUGE ISSUE.). I downloaded Sleep Pillow, which is a lot like Relax Melodies (though with way less options), and it was a LIFESAVER. That ambient noise can make all the difference!
Courtney! says
Ok, I’m definitely downloading that app. I always sleep with the TV on, but inevitably get sucked into the news or whatever is on and stay up way later than intended. Thanks for sharing!
Nicole says
Happy Friday!! My boyfriend and I have been thinking about starting Homeland, I am sure we will be addicted in no time! Also another app I am loving this week is called Headspace, it is a guided meditation app that would be perfect to use right before heading to bed. Thanks for sharing, hope you have a great weekend!
Julia says
I’ve heard about bone broth too! I’ve been dying to try it after reading the article you posted and The Skinny Confidential a week or so ago. No luck @ whole foods!
Random, but I am also LOVING my new clarisonic MIA face brush & their gentle cleanser. I know you mentioned a few months back your skin was giving you a hard time; mine has been awful the past six months and after two weeks of using the cleanser/brush my acne has cleared, pores have become so much smaller & my skin just feels so soft and perfect! It hasn’t been drying out my skin which is a huge plus in the winter! Just thought I’d share 🙂
Kristen @ Glitter and Dust says
Those Vogue videos are great. My husband and I fall asleep listening to ambient noise that sounds like rain. I can’t sleep without it! This week I am loving the Bachelor. I’m excited about the new season.
Kay @ Kay Bueno says
Yum. I love Marc Jacob’s Honey. Super light scent. And roller balls are my fave.
It’s hilarious that you mention the white noise app, because I literally had to build a white noise playlist on my phone for when I’m out of town.
Bethany Imondi says
I’m loving that the cold weather gives me an excuse to drink more hot chocolate and be creative with it! It’s a great afternoon pick me up.
Kailynn says
Last year I migrated from southern California to Fargo, North Dakota. The shock of my first of ever winter (a winter that stayed in the negatives for months at a time) led to a serious hibernation.
My boyfriend and I hide from the cold by watching four seasons of Games of Thrones, two seasons of Gilmore Girls and quite a few Mindy Projects.
Stay warm, Florida girl!
Rachel @ Blonde with a Chanse says
I need some of that body butter!! My skin has been so dry lately, and none of the lotions I have seem to be able to keep it moist.
Laura says
Um… where are the girls pants in the Urban Outfitters link? That is NOT a dress!
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
Hi Julie! It’s times like these when the whole country is freezing that I’m glad I live in SF, we are having nice moderate temps. And my hubby and I use a little fan and a white noise app every single night! Have a great weekend!
Alyssa @ Life of bLyss says
I wear Marc Jacobs honey every day! I looove it. Good taste, my dear. 😉
I’m loving birthday weekends, of course. Woo-hoo!
xoxo
Ashley @ Sweet Carolina Belle says
I am so happy it’s Friday! I feel like I am the only girl in the world that does not love body lotion. For some reason I can’t stand lotion.. my skin is pretty oily as it is so I guess I can go without for a few more years.
Margeaux Vittoria says
I appreciated that “15 Things to Stop Doing in 2015” article! Thanks for linking.
Amy says
I am also LOVING Gina’s recipes lately – I used her blog for every single dinner recipe and side this week. I am SO not creative when it comes to food so I’ve been relying on you two to keep my husband’s and my taste buds entertained 🙂
Leslie @ Life Begins at 30? says
My skin is so dry! Lotion has been saving me!!
Jessica @ Fit Talker says
Teddie is the best! I bought it religiously for years and then stopped for some reason (no clue why). After using other peanut butters recently, I just said that I had to go back to Teddie. Yum!
Thanks for the reminder!
Stacey M. says
I love Teddy PB too! After hearing Tina sing its praises, I finally decided to try some myself about a year ago. LOVE that it has only two ingredients and tastes wonderful. Though I’m not usually a chunky PB kinda gal, I will say I think I like the Teddy Super Chunk PB better than the smooth. The chunks of peanuts are great!
Jen@jpabstfitness says
Good luck with your Piyo class today!
Totally trying that app with my 9 month old who refuses to sleep day or night lately.
chareatsgreens says
The sweater is so adorable!! I hope you have a lovely Homeland marathon tonight. I’m actually slightly jealous that you get to have a marathon. Being caught up isn’t as fun now!! haha
joelle (on a pink typewriter) says
Happy Friday! That body butter sounds glorious.
Can you do a post on how you’re enjoying working in a gym? I’m curious how you are liking the career transition you made a couple (?) years ago!
Annette Perkins (@FitnessPerks) says
I’m sure your PiYo class went great!
Ooooh that body butter looks awesome. I currently love Trader Joe’s coconut body butter. So smoooooth 😉
Natalie @ The Ravenous Mommy says
I’m so into the white noise too! It was freezing in our room the other night, but I turned on the fan anyway to help me sleep 🙂
tara says
Love that look, so cozy!
Teddy is the ONLY PB I buy (and I go through a jar a week!)
I hope you are loving PiYo! I do the workouts at home, Hard Core on the Floor this morning, love it!
I wish I had a gym that would add BB workouts to the classes!!!
Have a great weekend!
tara says
Oh and my favorite winter dry skin remedy is Kiel’s body butter. I cannot do scented lotions, and this a-m-a-z-I-n-g. I first discovered it when we traveled to CO a few years back and my skin was so dry I was buggin! My friend shared his Kiel’s lotion and I have been hooked since. I know its a bit pricey, but well worth it!
kristin | W [H] A T C H says
i am loving the nicole kidman/jimmy fallon date story video that is going around — hilarious!
Erin @ Erin's Inside Job says
I am loving being back in VA for this week to visit with friends and family. I especially love it bc this past week in Chicago it has been in the negatives and I am just not ready for that yet! It should warm up a little by the time we get back tomorrow, so that’s good!
Ive also been loving the book Wild which I started earlier this week. I am a little more than halfway done, so maybe I can finish it up this weekend!
Emily says
Mmm… The peanut butter looks good. Where’s the best place to get it if you live in Colorado?
