Friday is here!!! WOOP! I am so ready for the weekend. We have lots of fun stuff on the agenda, which segues perfectly into the first bullet point I have for today’s Things I’m Loving Friday post!
Please feel free to play along and share something you’re loving in the comments section of this post! I always love reading about things that are making you smile.
Things I’m Loving Friday
I am running the 26.2 with Donna Breast Cancer Marathon Relay with Ryan, my dad, my sister and my sister’s fiancé this weekend. We are running in honor of my mom on Sunday and I am really excited! I am kicking off the marathon relay with the first spot on our relay team and will be running 6 miles. Time to round up my pink race-day outfit!
On occasion, when I blog about my favorite flavored coffees, a few of you will leave comments along the lines of, “I wish I could try a bunch of different coffee flavors, but I only have a Keurig.” We also only have a Keurig at our house, but I don’t buy K-Cups and brew whatever flavored coffee I am loving at the moment using my refillable K-Cup. It’s fabulous, more cost-effective and better for the environment, too!
- Adorable Animal Links
Pictures of adorable animals will never get old. Two super-cute links of note this week:
1. Before/After Animal Pictures <— Shared on the PBF Facebook page earlier this week and way too adorable
I think I need to submit this picture of Sadie at the vet to be included in the above roundup:
Can you tell she loves her vet!?
- Long Workout Leggings
I am 5’7’’ and while I realize this is not extremely tall, it’s tall enough to make the length of certain compression leggings feel too short. During my sister’s bachelorette party, I lent my pair of Old Navy compression leggings to Leslie’s friend Colleen who is 5’10’’. She was thrilled when she pulled them on and they were actually long enough to cover her whole leg. (I wear these workout leggings with sweaters and boots all the time. Shhh.) More favorite workout leggings: Moving Comfort Urban Gym Tight (I have them in “black space dye”) and the Reebok One Series Legging. (And for those who love cute workout gear as much as I do, how cute is this Moving Comfort tunic!? I saw it when I was looking for the link to the leggings I like and fell in love. It’s on my birthday wish list… for April.)
A few months ago, I tried kombucha (a fermented tea-based beverage) for the first time and was not a fan. I wrote about my experience on the blog, using eloquent descriptive words along the lines of “it tastes like armpit” or something of the sort. When the folks at Clearly Kombucha emailed me and encouraged me to try their kombucha, I told them I wasn’t a fan of kombucha and that the creepy slimy stuff in the drink gave me the heebie jeebies. They assured me that their kombucha didn’t have any of the phlegm-like stuff that creeped me out before and told me I should give kombucha another chance. (Many of you guys echoed similar sentiments!) Well, I’m glad I did because I am completely swayed. I’m not sure whether I picked a horrible flavor before or if a big sip of creepy slimy stuff is what turned me off to the drink in the past, but the two bottles of Clearly Kombucha I drank this week were so different. I liked that they weren’t overly sweet but just sweet enough to be palatable. I already placed an order on Amazon for more of the raspberry ginger kombucha to have around the house as a special treat!
Past Things I’m Loving Friday posts:
Question of the Morning
- What is one thing you are loving today?
- Have you ever run in a race as part of a relay team? Any tips?
Alicia says
I’m 5’4″ and all tights are too long for me! lol…Looking at pet pics made my day! I always smile when I see that big fluffy dog being held like a baby. So cute!! I love Kombucha! The ginger flavors of the Synergy brand are my fave. Love the zing it gives!
Nikki says
I am loving granola lately. I am 5 months pregnant and avoided it for a long time since it’s so high calorie but now I am on my third brand. What is your favorite store bough granola taste wise?
Julie says
Congratulations!!! And I really like the granola I buy from the bulk bins at Earth Origins – but homemade is my favorite. 🙂
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat says
Good luck at the relay! It sounds like so much fun!
And, today I’m loving the fact that I’m getting my haircut at lunch. It’s been waaay too long!
Kelly says
Howdy! Did you buy the ‘tall’ leggings from Old Navy? Or regular size? Also: do you find that the band is really tight? I absolutely despise tight bands so I’m wondering if I should buy ‘up’ a size to avoid that…? Thoughts?
thanks!
Julie says
The regular ones were plenty long!! And no, the band was not too tight. I think they fit true to size if not a little large. Hope this helps!
Livi says
I love my refillable K-cups! It makes it so much cheaper, and I can use all different kinds of coffee!
Julie says
They are the best!
Jackie says
Good luck with the race this weekend!
Emma @ Life's A Runner says
I love the idea of a marathon relay – you can get a similar “feeling” of running a marathon, without actually putting yourself through 26.2 miles! Good luck! 🙂
Today, I am loving the fact that I will hopefully get my exam results this afternoon!
Erin H says
I just bought the refillable K Cup 🙂 Thanks for sharing, I think it will end up saving me a ton of money bc I typically use 2-3 every day!
Chrissy @pinkpolishandrunningshoes says
Good luck on Sunday! As for what I’m loving this Friday…..meeting up with friends for a girls night after work 🙂
Kate F. says
There are also disposable K-cups that you can fill up with your own coffee grounds. This makes it easier since you don’t have to clean it out!
My aunt recently had a baby and sends us a “Friday Smiles” picture. Definitely on my Things I’m Loving Friday list.
Happy Friday!
Chelsea @ BigBitesLittleBudget says
Those refillable K-cups are the only way to go! Keurig also makes a refillable k-cup, but it was such a pain that I switched to the same red one that you show and absolutely love it. It makes the perfect cup of coffee.
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
I’ve never done a relay race before, but it sounds like so much fun! And I love what you’re supporting too!
One thing I’m loving lately: Jergen’s Natural Glow lotion for my face! I feel like I’ve been looking so pasty lately, so it helps to add some glow to my face. And best of all, it doesn’t smell or make me look orange.
Kaelene @Unlocking Kiki says
That relay sounds fun! One of my favorite races is the walk for diabetes we all do in honor of my younger sister. Such a great cause and even better that we all get to work out together and raise money for diabetes.
Julie @ Better Life with Burgers says
Have fun at the relay this weekend!
I’m loving that today is Friday. It’s been a tough week. I kept trying to tell myself that each day would be a “fresh start,” but it hasn’t worked. Hopefully the weekend can serve as a reset and I’ll have a much better week next week!
Miranda @ Loving Every Mile says
I love long workout tights but I’m never sure if I wear them so the bottom is above my shoe, or if I tuck them into my shoes! I go back and forth on that decision haha 😉
Julie says
Haha I’m the same way 🙂
Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie says
Omg I am l
Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie says
Err that meant to say I am loving that golden doodle at the vet picture!! Too freaking cute!
Annette@FitnessPerks says
I have THE same problem with leggings….I am 5’8′ so sometimes they are short. Good to know on the ON leggings!
I’m loving going to bed around 9 p.m. lately! hah
Kelsie says
kombucha is definitely an acquired taste! the flavor you pick makes all the difference. This small grocery store by my office has this mango coconut flavor that is delicious!
Rachel @ Fairietale Designs says
Lately, I’m loving fruit salad. I make a big bowl of it in the morning, and nibble all day!
Good luck and have fun at the marathon relay. I’ve never done a race like that, but it’s a great opportunity for a very worth cause!
Alissa @ Eat Clean Beauty Queen says
Good luck in the relay! What a great way to celebrate your mom and her victory over breast cancer. I may have to try those Old Navy longer leggings… it’s been so cold and windy here in St. Louis lately that my usual capris are just not enough.. the shins/calves need a little warmth too.
Susan says
Good luck at the relay! I am loving 2 things- 1) my severly sprained ankle is finally healing- out of the walking boot this week and in a smaller brace + tennis shoe… cannot wait to be able to work out again (not running is driving me bananas) and 2) finally getting my hair cut and highlighted tomorrow, it’s been too long. 🙂
Lyric says
Oh gosh last time I ran relay was in Track and Field in Middle School bahaha. And I was not very good; so no tips from me!
This week I’ve been loving my Nars Laguna bronzer. Its amazing!
Elissa (@style_wire) says
What grind do you use for the refillable k cup? I have one but it leaves lots of grounds in the cup and I worry about it ruining the machine.

Cheri @ Overactive Blogger says
Okay, so the first time I had kombucha I had the same reaction, but I have the kombucha that you will love. Go to Whole Foods and get GTS Kombucha. It’s so delicious, and it’s fizzy and good! It’s kind of like a soda, except without all the really crappy stuff. Try it and let me know what you think!
Taylee @ twist me fit says
I love my reusable k-cups! Also, good luck at your relay!
Kim F says
Ummm, refillable K-cups changed my life. Seriously. It’s so much cheaper than buying all of the normal K-cups! I haven’t tried any Kombucha drinks yet, but I hear they are great for your digestion. I will have to try this brand out…do you know what store names carry this brand? Whole foods maybe?
Michelle says
Good luck at the race! I’m doing an indoor triathlon this weekend and am excited about that!
Thing I’m Lovin’ Friday is usually my favorite day on your blog! I love to hear about your favorites, and sometimes (okay, frequently) buy stuff you recommend!
Lately I’ve been loving White Cheddar Chia Pop! It’s like Smartfood sort of, but it has ground up chia seeds in it! I think you’d like it!
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
I have been using reusable KCups for years, I didn’t realize people didn’t know about them! It saves me SO MUCH MONEY! And I buy coffee beans from my absolute favorite coffee place (which is in Kansas City, I live in Chicago) and then I grind them every couple weeks and voila! My favorite coffee!
april says
good luck during your marathon relay this weekend! i love the idea of running a relay, plus it’s for a great cause =)
Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves says
That marathon relay sounds like it will be a blast! Great cause too 🙂 Hope you all have a great time.
I’m currently loving un-shelled pistachios (so addicting!) and Palmer’s cocoa butter for moisturizing my dry winter hands!
Kelly D. says
Good luck to your family on the relay! I might see you out there as I’m running the full as my first (slightly freaking out!!).
My absolute favorite compression leggings are the Old Navy ones – and you can totally rock them any time!
Vanessa De La Rosa says
I have run the Donna half marathon twice since it’s in my hometown, and it is hands down my favorite race! I am so jealous that you’re doing it! Since I moved away from Florida, the thing I miss the most is running on flat land, near the beach, with the salt in the air. The Donna race has such great energy – have fun and good luck!
Claire @ Keeping Up With Claire says
I so know what you mean–there’s a lot to be said for good Kombucha! Last night I tasted fresh Kombucha that ruined bottled Kombucha for me forever. Good luck this weekend!!
Marissa @ Barefoot Colorado says
Refillable K cups?!?! THAT IS GENIUS!! One very {big} thing making me happy this week is that my best friend is getting married in July!!! YAY!
Katie says
I LOVE the Refillable K-Cup! I felt so bad throwing those little plastic cups away day after day & once I stumbled across the reusable one I was hooked! 🙂 That kombucha also looks yummy! I’m a huge kombucha fan so I don’t mind the little swimmies at the bottom 😉
Mandy says
I’m currently obsessed with Califia Farms Almond Milk. There is nothing like it. It costs a pretty penny but it’s so worth it.
Mak says
HI Julie! I have missed keeping up with your blog as consistently as I used to 🙂 Luckily this semester is less crazy than my previous one so I hope to keep up with more of you fun posts! I am loving being certified as an OULA fitness instructor. You can read my latest post to learn what it is if you want! Have a great weekend 😀
Laura @ RunningJunkie says
Good luck on your relay marathon! That is so exciting!!
I’m doing a half on Sunday in Richmond, VA. This is my first race since breaking my foot twice last year, so I’m loving running strong!
Sarah @ Sweet Miles says
Have fun at the marathon relay!! I’ve never done a relay race before but imagine it would be so much FUN and with so little pressure I think it would be a breeze!
Jamie @ Dishing Out Health says
Haha omg the phlegm-like stuff is exactly what turned me off from Kombucha too. I definitely need to try this kind – plus, raspberry ginger?! YUM 🙂 oh and so glad you posted the refillable K-cup tip!
Brittney @ Sweets 'N' Greens says
I’m tall too, so I’ll have to try these leggings out! Right now, I usually wear Lululemon (which is amazing, but expensive) and their Wunder Unders are great for wearing as “real clothes”
Michelle @ A Healthy Mrs says
That Moving Comfort tunic is so cute! And I bet it’s pretty comfy, too 🙂
Today I’m loving my new Cartwheel gym bag from Lug — I just got it yesterday, and I’m already smitten 🙂
Celina @ My Cajun Trinity says
I’m loving my new workout tank made by a local vendor in town. They silk-screened my blog logo onto the top. It’s super cute. I’ll be publishing a blog post about it around lunch!
Have a great weekend!
Megan @ The Skinny-Life says
I’ve haven’t done a relay since high school track. Good luck with yours! I will be curious to hear about the experience. I’m loving a warm bowl of oatmeal & fresh berries on a cold morning. How can something so simple feel so fulfilling?
Jamie @ Sometimes Healthy Living Blog says
So, I have been saying I need to get that refillable K-Cup forever! I have no idea why I don’t just hop on over to Bed, Bath & Beyond or Amazon.com and do it! Perhaps you inspired me 🙂
Love that you’re doing the race as a family. A while ago, I ran the Chicago Marathon for breast cancer for my mother and it was definitely very special to me.
I’m loving: Cauliflower Crust pizza! Just made my first on Wednesday and it turned out delightful 🙂 I’m also loving healthy living bloggers. Just moved back to my hometown of Omaha and super excited to meet the crew of them at Whole Foods on Saturday.
Sarah Whitney says
I just moved from Maine to Tennessee a month ago. Today I’m loving the beautiful weather and the fact that there is now snow here!!! 🙂
Kristen @ Glitter and Dust says
Good luck with your race this weekend. What a great cause to run for. I’ve been loving my new TOMS shoes that I just purchased (first pair ever). So much so that I bought two more pairs at 50% off at Zulily.com (seriously, a great deal!).
Kelly says
Shut Up! They have refillable K cups? I am on it! Awesome!
Jen @ www.impossiblejen.com says
i don’t find the old navy clothes to be terribly long, i’m 5’3″ with a pretty average torso. but i find the shirts to be very wide. i returned 2 xs tanks b/c i was swimming in them. sad b/c i loved the style.
