Check out this morning’s breakfast!
Right now you’re only three ingredients away from a fantastic morning meal!
Last night I cooked up a batch of quinoa to have on had throughout the week. This morning I topped a cup of Chobani strawberry banana Greek yogurt with the cold quinoa and a sliced banana for a creamy quinoa breakfast bowl.
It was such an easy breakfast to throw together and I loved all the different textures and flavors. Though I probably prefer my barley breakfast bowls to this quinoa breakfast bowl, both are tasty and fun to eat.
Workout
Today’s workout was a strength workout courtesy of the Best Body Boot Camp program I’m following.
It was the easiest workout for me of all the boot camp workouts I’ve completed so far, which probably means I didn’t use weights that were challenging enough. I used the weights I’m used to using for certain exercises, but since the workout had me doing 10 reps instead of my typical 15, I definitely could’ve challenged myself more by selecting heavier weights.
Something to keep in mind for next week!
My favorite move today was the walking lunge with a medicine ball twist.
Me? Liking lunges? What?
I think the medicine ball twist helped distract me from the awfulness of the lunges and made me feel more powerful than I usually do when I’m just lunging. Believe me, I was shocked that I liked this move, too.
Off to download a new podcast and take Sadie for her morning walk before parkin’ my butt at the computer ‘til lunch!
See ya then!

Kate @ The Little Spoon Blog says
Lately I have been loving lifting in general! I tried your treadmill interval workout from yesterday’s post and it had me huffing and puffing! I really enjoyed it!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
I’m not following it to a T, but I’ve been adding in Live Fit upper body workouts 2-3 times a week – they can be done in about 30 minutes, most of the equipment I have at home, and I’m feeling so much stronger!
Nicole says
I love the stair-stepper! In 15 minute interval session, I build up such a sweat and my heart is racing!
Khushboo Thadani says

And it makes me so happy every time I read you’re loving a workout. Now…go use heavier weights! << Sgt Tina, at your service 😉
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
oh gosh, that breakfast looks amazing! And I’ve found with Tina’s workouts that I need to check the reps before picking my weights, I did workout A yesterday and definitely upped weights for the sets with 8 reps!
Yellow Haired Girl says

I hate lunges too – I’ll have to try those with the medicine ball to see if I like them better!
Jana @ Newly Wife Healthy Life says
I love twists with a medicine ball, you can really feel the stretch in your waist, which I love! Another fun twist is to use a Stability ball in place of the medicine ball. Great exercise!
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
I never thought in a million years I’d say this but, pushups have slowly become my favorite now that I actually have the strength to do a few of them in a row. I’ve been doing 50 a day and it’s fun to see my strength improve and be able to do a few more in a row every day.
Stephanie @ Legally Blinde says
I love quinoa on my salads, but haven’t tried it for breakfast – sounds interesting! Yesterday I actually did one of your treadmill workouts and loved it (while hating it, too, haha) – the 25 Minute Treadmill Incline Workout. It definitely left me nice and sweaty, and I felt great 🙂
Antonia @ healthinspirations says
I just had quinoa for lunch 🙂 I really enjoyed those lunges as well even though my favorite exercise of the bootcamp workout was the oblique twist….I definitely felt the burn 🙂
Ciara Lea says
Since you mentioned podcasts again, I was thinking you may like one called “Vinyl Cafe Stories.” I find them good for when I walk my pup. There are usually 3 stories told during each cast. It is a Canadian radio show but I think it can be enjoyed by all 🙂

I’m loving circuit training right now. I do that on the days I’m not running, and it kicks my booty! 😉

Andrea @ Andrea Out Loud! says
I keep seeing Qinoa for breakfast but have yet to try it, it seems so weird to me!
Caroline @ After Dinner Dance says
I tried a barley bowl once and just didn’t like it for some reason, maybe I need to try again! I’m actually loving the one leg stability ball squats from the previous two weeks of bootcamp – I think they’re fun for some strange reason 🙂
Serena says
I really tried to like quinoa, but it didn’t work. I may give it another try.
Bianca says
Hey Julie, I know you aren’t trying to lose weight or anything while doing the boot camp but I was wondering if you took any measurements or had any fitness goals? Do you plan on sharing any differences in your body?
peanutbutterfingers says
i don’t really have any fitness goals with the boot camp and signed up because i was just looking for some new workouts and wanted a challenge. through the boot camp program we make two goals every week to try to stick to and mine have been drinking 9 glasses of water a day and eating 5 servings of fruits/veggies. i have felt like my balance/stability is improving from the workouts though, which is awesome!
Juju@GetFitwithJuju says
Mmmmm I haven’t had quinoa in awhile and your breakfast looks like just the thing to make! My face strength move is the back rows!

Helen says
How did you come up with the idea of quinoa for breakfast? I absolutely love it for dinner or lunches, but I never would have thought of using it in a yogurt bowl! Is it really good?
Hillary says
I need to start using barley in my breakfasts, just to take a break from oatmeal and cereal. I have it on hand; I just need to remember to make it!
I love doing squats on a Bosu ball. It makes me feel pretty badass when I can actually balance for all 15 reps, and it is SERIOUS work!
Tiff says
I’m loving decline chest flies. I did some today though I’ve never really gotten into them in the past. It’s a unique feeling, and I like switching up from the norm.
Rachel says
I loooove squats. They get the whole body burnin’. But I always regret going overboard the next few days–like today, my bum is still SORE! 😀

Jessica @ RUNMEM says
I love medicine ball slams! Especially following a tabata interval structure – so tough.
Lea says
I’ve been loving pushups lately, I never thought I’d say that! I love that they work so many muscles at one time, and you don’t need weights. I have a love/hate relationship with lunges, they definitely work, but they burn!
Glenneth says
I am loving interval training – especially on the elliptical. Have never done them before, but Tina has me doing them and they are great.
Lora @ Crazy Running Girl says
Great idea for the breakfast bowl! My fiance hates quinoa so this would be a great way to use it up.
Jasper @ crunchylittlebites says
your workouts are inspirational…I only dream of strength training workouts…perhaps this week I shall see some of those dreams come to fruition…and I will be literally, instead of figuratively, stronger (not just in my dreams)
are you going to a midnight viewing of the Hunger Games Julie? 😀
Gen says
Quinoa for breakfast! Pretty nice idea, I should try it with some fruits!
Elle says
I like cold quinoa with berries and yogurt and cinnamon! mmm
Walking lunges are just hard!

WHY have I still yet to try quinoa for breakfast?!
I love using the bosu trainer for anything. It kicks my butt! And my TRX (which has been neglected lately).
I need to try those lunges- love the bonus core work!
