Today is our three year wedding anniversary!
Naturally we did what every married couple does on their anniversary and got together for a romantic lunch date… at Chipotle!
Ha!
After working through the morning, I showered at home before it was time for my follow-up appointment with my allergist. Everything went well (no crazy allergic reactions since we last met) and I left feeling quite hungry. Since Chipotle is located close to my allergist’s office and Ryan’s work, it made the perfect meeting spot for our lunch date and I wasted no time ordering a burrito bowl with brown rice, black and pinto beans, carnitas, chicken, salsa, peppers and onions. It filled me right up!
Once we were done eating, we took a quick side trip to TJMaxx to make a return. While we were there, I saw a pumpkin that was bigger than Sadie and almost bought it.
After sharing that picture on Instagram, I must admit that I love the fact that so many of you guys gave it a thumbs up and clearly have no boundaries when it comes to fall decor. No wonder we all get along so well.
Shortly after snapping that photo, I found the price tag and let’s just say even the most ritzy Maxxinista would have experienced some sticker shock. It was $70 which is about $68 too many for this girl. (In the pumpkin’s defense, it does light up.)
Now I am back at our house and need to put some finishing touches on Ryan’s anniversary gift before he gets home from work. Ryan seems pretty proud of the gift he got for me this year, so the pressure is on! We like to try to follow the anniversary gift themes, which means this year we should be getting each other leather gifts, but I am straying off course a bit.
See ya tomorrow, my friends!
Question of the Afternoon
- Do you celebrate anniversaries?
- What is the best anniversary gift you’ve given or received?
Taylor says
Love love love your hair!! Looks great!
RunnerGirlEats says
I love sticking to the themes! I def plan on doing that 🙂 enjoy your anniversary!!
Jackie says
Can’t wait to see what you guys got each other!!
Ciara says
Happy anniversary! Time flies!! Your hair looks great! Are you using a new method of curling it?
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
I am! I am experimenting with a curling iron, but I am not using the clip. I’m basically wrapping my hair around the iron (away from my face), which essentially turns it into a curling wand, I guess. Still trying to get the hang of it because it isn’t holding for as long as I’d like!
Ciara says
You should try spraying your hair with hairspray and letting it dry for a few seconds before curling (if you’re not doing that already). I’ve found that can help hold the curl a little longer!
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
Thank you for the tip! I do that but I could definitely wait a little longer. I get so impatient. 🙂
Marissa @ Barefoot Colorado says
Your hair looks fabulous!! I’m excited to see what gifts y’all come up with!
Shel@PeachyPalate says
Happy Anniversary you guys!!! Knowing you and your craft skills your gift is bound to be amazing!

Jan @ Sprouts n Squats says
Wow happy anniversary!! Loved your lunch it sounded delicious.
Maybe Ryan is getting you the pumpkin? Hehe I would be seriously proud of giving someone that gift.
My boyfriend always gets me jewelry which I love. One of my favourite things he got me is a ring that has an eternity symbol on it.
Sara @ LovingOnTheRun says
I love sticking to themes! My husband and I celebrate every dating anniversary and wedding anniversary! The first year (paper) I got him a framed copy of our vows. The second year (cotton) I got him a pillow with Mr. & Mrs. Est 6.25.11 on it. I think traditions are fun 🙂
Maureen says
Is it sad that the first thing I noticed in your TJMax photo is all the wine glasses behind you??
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
Not at all! I noticed it, too. 🙂
Rosey Rebecca says
Happy Anniversary! I loved reading your wedding posts three years ago. Hope you guys enjoy your day.
And, by the way, I spent a ridiculous $40 on a ‘yoga dog’ from Pier One. I needed it, obviously.
Kaitlyn says
Happy Anniversary to you and Ryan!!! 🙂 🙂 Have a great evening!
Rebeka says
Happy anniversary! You look absolutely beautiful today (you are beautiful every day but you know) – I’m not sure if it’s your hair or your tank or what but it’s working 🙂
mary @ minutes per mile says
happy anniversary! my husband and i just reached our one-month anniversary 🙂 and going to celebrate somehow
Sarah @ Sweet Miles says
Happy anniversary!! I can’t wait to see what you end up getting him pertaining to ‘leather’ 🙂 even if it may be off course a little! Our one year anniversary we tried the yearly gift thing, but ended up planning a trip instead and promising to get back on track next year with ‘cotton’ 🙂
Kelly @ Kelly Runs for Food says
Happy Anniversary! Mine is in May. We usually plan our vacation around our anniversary so it’s always a good way to celebrate!
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
Happy Anniversary!! Also, that pumpkin rocks!
Julia says
The best anniversary gift was a surprise trip to the Grand Canyon for the weekend! I had always wanted to go and my boyfriend planned a whole road trip along Route 66 🙂
Brittany @ The Fit Phoenician says
Yum- Chipotle!! Happy Anniversary!!
Anele @ Success Along the Weigh says
Happy Anniversary! I can’t wait to hear what you guys got each other!
We’re almost always in Hawaii for our anniversary but the best was my husband surprised me with having chef Sam Choy cook for us. (He’s been on Food Network specials, Chopped, Challenge, etc but he has several restaurants in Hawaii, his own line of food, etc) We hit if off so well we still keep in touch and visit when we’re on the Big Island. He’s like our Hawaiian dad. LOL
Madison @ Eating 4 Balance says
Happy Anniversary!
So now I want to know what your “leatherish” gift is. Haha. I can’t wait to see what you got each other 😀
That pumpkin is totally cute. I agree that 70 dollars is a bit much though. Honestly while I love most things in TJ Maxx, I still feel like a lot of it is overpriced. I guess I’m just stingy.
Erin G. @ Treats and Sneaks says
Haha that’s too funny – my boyfriend and I celebrated our three year (dating) anniversary a couple of weeks ago and also met up for a “romantic” Chipotle lunch date. Hey, it’s delicious, quick and easy! Happy Anniversary to you and Ryan!
Wendy says
Happy Anniversary! Funny you should ask, as it is my and my hubby’s anniversary today as well 🙂 14 years actually. We stopped buying each other gifts a few years ago and now just do cards ~ he also got me flowers. Tonight….hot date at the Olive Garden ~ we have a gift card burning a hole in our pockets ~ Ha!
Melissa says
Happy Anniversary to you and Ryan! Wow, I cannot believe it’s been three years already! I didn’t realize how long I’ve been actively reading your blog! It’s been fun being along in the journey and I look forward to reading more!
Kelly @ Turned up to Eleven says
Yes, always celebrate anniversaries, always.
Best gift… well we’ve only celebrated 2 years so far but the first year anniversary is traditionally “paper” so that year, we purchased each other Pearl Jam tickets, and while we couldn’t make that happen again this year, we instead went to a different concert, I hope to make it a bit of a tradition, if touring schedules abide.
I love that pumpkin but that is a hefty price tag… and I would have NO WHERE to store it. 🙂
Ellie@Fit for the soul says
I really love how your hair turned out!!!! 😀 Did you use the wand to make it so natural? And happy anniversary, guys! I remember when I first started reading your blog you were just celebrating your 1st year together~bahhhh! Time reeealllly flies~ God bless you guys today and in the many years to come <3
Heather @fitncookies says
I love all the gifts you share on here 🙂 I can’t wait to hear tomorrow! I think it’s so special you were able to have a little date during the day 🙂
Jan Klein says
Happy Anniversary! No wonder I love the blog. TJ Maxx & Marshalls are my stores! I think I need a frequent shopper card or at least my picture on the wall. They all know me at the stores in Memphis. That’s probably not a good thing though…ha!
Sarah says
Love your hair!!
Ashley says
For dating, we have just celebrated sometime in early March — because neither of us remember the EXACT date we met. How terrible are we? Now that we have a wedding anniversary, hopefully we won’t forget 😉
Ashlee@HisnHers says
Leather for 3 years?! Maybe I read too much 50 Shades but that makes me laugh!
sibyl says
Hey hey, today is my 14th wedding anniversary !!! Nice date to get married, I just arrived from our romantic date outside and i saw your post. Congratulations and we wish you as many happy years as we have. Keep nice, healthy, sweet and smiling as always. Love, Sibyl from Switzerland

Your hair looks perfect by the way. Happy anniversary to you and Ryan!
Miss Polkadot says
Happy Anniversary to you and Ryan!
You got me curious mentioning you’re supposed to get each other a certain kind of gifts. Is it a personal idea or some kind of tradition? Anyway, I’m excited to see what you got each other. Have a great Anniversary day!
Julie Verhage says
Congrats!!
Dana says
Happy Anniversary! You two are such a cute couple!
megan @ theveryhungryrunner says

Happy Anniversary! If I was married, I’d celebrate every anniversary with Chipotle. I think any special occasion calls for a burrito bowl filled with that goodness! I hope you have a fun-filled rest of your anniversary.
Kristen @ notsodomesticated says
Aww happy anniversary!!! Our 3 year anniversary is in a couple of months. 🙂 Usually we celebrate with dinner out or a trip, but I have no idea what we’ll do this year, since we have a little one now!
Enjoy the rest of your day with your hubby! 🙂
Theresa says
Geez, that is a pricey pumpkin! I can’t wait to hear what gifts you got each other. I think it’s fun to stick with the theme like that! And now I want Chipotle…
