The Fagan family felt the magic of Christmas as they bustled about!
Can you guys believe Christmas is nearly here? Wow! I was really feeling the hustle and bustle of the holiday season yesterday as I tried to cram in some last minute holiday must-dos among the usual Tuesday madness. All around it was a good day, though a busy one for sure! Let’s start at the beginning…
Tuesday
I woke up bright and early as usual to cram in a couple of hours of work before Chase was up for the day. I felt a little off on Monday (though much better than I did on Sunday) and thankfully continued to feel even better yesterday. Chase also seemed 100 percent better on Monday and yesterday so I’m hoping that’s the sign of a healthy Christmas to come!
I sat down at the computer with a cup of coffee and a small bowl of scrambled eggs (three eggs mixed with Laughing Cow cheese, salt and pepper).
I plowed through my email inbox, did some not-so-fun finance stuff and began working on a blog post I have planned for the future before Chase was up for the day. Once he was up and changed, I joined him for his breakfast which included a whole wheat pumpkin muffin, milk and a sprinkle of Cheerios.
I poured myself a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios (Breakfast 2.0) to enjoy with him and had fun watching him dance around in his high chair to Pentatonix’s “Hark the Herald Angels Sing.” That song has a serious beat and Chase feels it! (Side note: Longtime PBF readers know Ryan and I have absolutely LOVED Pentatonix since we first rooted for them on The Sing Off and if you’re looking for an incredible song to add to your Christmas playlist, their version of “Mary, Did You Know?” is gorgeous.)
Workout
Once breakfast was over, we read books and played with Chase’s new dump truck toy that he received for Christmas from Ryan’s mom before heading off to the gym.
While Chase played with his boot camp childcare buddies, I went through a plyometric workout with my girlfriends that looked like this:
With my workout done for the day, Chase and I quickly ate a snack (a pouch for him, a Larabar for me) and headed out to join our friends at a morning Gymboree class! As usual, Chase had the best time walking all over the place, playing with new toys and watching Miss Jen’s every move. I loved the extra time to chat with Carrie!
Lunch
After about an hour, it was time to head out, so we said goodbye to our friends and popped into Whole Foods on our way home. I needed to pick up a bottle of wine, some chocolates and a Rewined candle for a last-minute Christmas gift (oh my gosh you guys the Zinfandel Rewined candle smells like heaven) and I used the opportunity to snag lunch from the hot bar while we were there as well!
Once we made it home and finished eating an early lunch, I spent the next hour bustling about while Chase followed along and thankfully seemed entertained by silly games I made up along the way. I wanted to transfer all of our wrapped Christmas gifts into boxes to make it easier to transport them to Jacksonville with us where we will be spending Christmas with my family and anything that involves transferring things from one place to the next is toddler gold in our house right now.
Though Chase’s present Tetris skills left a lot to be desired, he still seemed to enjoy “helping” and I didn’t mind fixing his handiwork to make everything fit a little more snuggly.
Before Chase’s nap, we also managed to get a load of laundry in the washing machine and I began sorting through Chase’s clothes to pack for our travels.
When Chase went down for his nap, I took advantage of a free minute to hop into the shower. Feeling refreshed, I quickly got dressed and worked at the computer again for two hours until he was up and it was time for a snack before we headed out.
We had plans to meet up with friends for an afternoon play date and spent the next two hours running around Discovery Place Kids.
Chase had a blast and it’s crazy for me to think back to the time when he was too little to do anything other than sit in the bucket seats and play at the water table.
By the time we arrived back home, dinner was on my mind but I wasn’t in the mood to cook at all, so I turned to the freezer and pulled out a frozen pizza from Whole Foods to throw in the oven after Ryan arrived home from work.
Frozen pizza + Grapes + Leftover roasted sweet potatoes = Dinner = Done!
We spent the rest of the night before Chase’s bedtime playing on the floor with Sadie, reading books and doing our best to tire out our energetic toddler.
(I love it when Sadie’s jowls get caught in her teeth like that… Never fails to crack me up!)
Once Chase was in bed, I hopped on the computer to finish typing up this blog post before joining Ryan for some much-needed relaxation on the couch! Hot chocolate and Jeopardy rounded out our Tuesday night!
I hope you guys are having a great Wednesday so far. I hope to share a few blog posts over the next few days but it may be a bit spotty over here on PBF as we’ll be traveling and I want to be sure to soak up plenty of quality time with my family. I’ll do my best but want to be sure to wish all of you Happy Holidays in the meantime!!
P.S. Thanks so much for sharing so many wonderful stories and peeks into your lives in the comments section of yesterday’s post. I absolutely loved reading them and appreciate the time you took to share!

LOVE the Pentatonix! I would love to see them live around christmas time one year. Isn’t Whole Foods food bar the best?!? I wish my Whole Foods was closer, it’s about an 40 minutes away. But I hit up the food bar overtime I go! =)

Lindsey says
We traveled up to Raleigh for Christmas last year, but we will be here this year in shorts and t-shirts! I guess if it’s not going to be a white Christmas it might as well be beautiful weather?? ?

I live just southeast of Jacksonville! It was 60 yesterday. I’m bummed we couldn’t swap yesterday’s weather with Saturday’s. Oh, well, at least we’re all used to it. 🙂 Hope you both have a great (warm) Christmas!
Julie says
Me too! I was hoping for a little bit of a chilly Christmas but I suppose sunny is good, too!

What’s a cricket climber? I looked on YouTube but can’t find anything 🙂
Julie says
They’re like a mountain climber but instead of bringing your knees in toward your chest, you bring them toward the opposite elbow. There’s a demo of them in this workout that might make it easier to understand!! –> https://www.pbfingers.com/total-body-bosu-workout/ Hope this helps!

It is like the calm before the storm! I can’t believe I haven’t started to even think about what I am going to make for Christmas. For some reason, I am being the ULTIMATE procrastinator this year! 🙂

Love reading day in the life posts!!! Such a busy time of year… I can’t even imagine having a little kiddo to chase after right now. Chase is such a darling little boy!

Love your workouts! Every time you post one I’m reminded of when I FIRST started strength training almost 4 years ago. I remember being in the gym during my internship doing the HOT HOT HOT workout and thinking I was going to die die die. Fast forward now I’m an RD, a trainer, and write my own blog. Thanks always for the inspiration!

So amazing to see how far you’ve come! That’s awesome!

Sounds like a fun mid-holiday day! Especially with the stress of the holidays, it’s always kind of nice to start the day slower.
Looks like a great workout, too – I’ll have to test it out back here in Chicago!

We have a pug and when his lips get stuck on his teeth like that we call them Grandpa Lips 🙂 I don’t know where it came from but it’s hilarious when it happens!

Ha ha, I always remember that Tuesdays aren’t your favorites, so I’m glad you’re having a good one, and feeling better! I always look forward to your Christmas recap after Christmas where you chat up your family’s traditions/rituals, because it extends the holidays for me (I’m kind of a sucker for everybody’s Christmas stories. I’m an equal opportunity Christmas-story-collector!)
Enjoy these posts! Yesterday, while out shopping, I saw an ENORMOUS mini muffin maker at Target (it was like, a double-sized tray), and I thought of whipping up a ton of your whole wheat pumpkin muffins in that thing! I didn’t buy it, but I DID get the goods to make the muffins! Happy holidays!

I LOVE Pentatonix. Their version of “Mary Did You Know” is one of my favorite Christmas songs.
I am glad you are feeling better. I came down with a cold last Thursday but luckily I am feeling better as well. Nobody wants to be sick for Christmas!

Props for being so organized for your trip (safe travels). Whole Foods pizza is the best. I am in love with their pepperoni. They are building a Whole Foods five minutes away from my house and I can’t wait until it it done. The current one I go to is 15-20 minutes away.

The gift tetris comment cracked me up as I always have to play trunk tetris!!
HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND A JOYOUS NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL….safe travels.
(we are home bound as I am in plaster from to to hip! … I misjudged a step down and well, oooops)

Your box of gifts looks like our current situation at home! We are gearing up for a 14-hour overnight drive tonight and I boxed up all the gifts/stockings for easy transport! Hoping the 14 hours pass fast since we’ll have a 2 year old in tow – gah! Safe travels to Jacksonville!
Sarah @ Sweet Miles says
Oh man, I have SO much wrapping left to do still and we’re leaving town tomorrow night! AH! Boxes are a lifesaver – anyway to “chunk” our stuff together saves so much space in the car!
Katie @ Live Half Full says
You seem to have found such a great groove as a working Mama lately. I have to say, it’s inspiring!
