Things are back to their usual level of crazy around here now that Sadie is back.
These are the faces Sadie busted out of her repertoire as I tried to work in our home office this afternoon.
She is now hunting the reflection bouncing off of Ryan’s watch. Must catch the light!
Dinner
With Sadie back home, it was nice to have my little sous chef in the kitchen with me to lick up crumbs and make me feel like everything that I make tastes delicious. (Remember her ring of drool?)
She got quite a few samples of beef as I prepared sloppy joes for dinner.
I started by sautéing a chopped onion before browning beef and adding ketchup and apple cider vinegar. Gotta love four-ingredient recipes that are done in less than 15 minutes!
The ‘joes were served with roasted cauliflower and unpictured garlic bread (we didn’t have and hamburger buns on hand). And yes, I ate my garlic bread before the cauliflower was done. It was staring at me.
Ryan and I have some household to-do’s on the agenda this evening in preparation for this weekend when we have some guests staying over on Friday and Saturday night, so I’m off to get to work.
Sleep well, friends!

I ate 2nof my ‘sides’ tonight before my chicken was done!
Kat @ Balance & Spice says
Wow, that looks amazing. Just have to share that I just discovered gluten-free foccacia with rosemary and garlic. I will die happy now.
Lindsay @ In Sweetness and In Health says
Oh my gosh, Sadie is so cute!!! And those sloppy joes look awesome :). I should make them soon! I haven’t had them in such a long time but that would be a great meal especially now that it’s colder out! Hope you have a great evening Julie!
Savannah @ Sweet and Savvy says
That is such a good idea for simple, healthy joes! 🙂
Emily says
Sadie is too cute! I prefer my Sloppy Joe’s without buns anyway. Weird? Probably, but the bun ruins it for me!
peanutbutterfingers says
i tend to agree. i feel like sloppy joes are too sloppy for buns!
Joelle (On A Pink Typewriter) says
I remember begging my mom to make Sloppy Joe’s for the first time when I was a kid, and I hated them! Now I don’t know why because they (or at least your recipe) sound great!
Erica @ For the Sake of Cake says

Amanda says
Sadie’s expressions are priceless. She has quite the (big) personality, huh? 🙂
jaci says
Sadie is hysterical!! It’s crazy how much pets become a part of the family and everything seems so off and lonely with them gone. Such a poised old lady in picture #2!
I’ve always been a dog person (had the same dog my entire life) but now live with a cat, and though they both have personalities, I swear dogs think they are a human member of the family and have SUCH a human personality. I have never met a cat with a personality like my little Lucy and I can’t even imagine a Sadie-cat twin.
Diane says
Sadie needs a laser pointer!! Our vizsla girl chased hers around the floor for about an hour tonight!! Highly entertaining… for both the dog and the humans!!
sarah (sarah learns) says
haha, one of our dogs goes CRAZY over light reflections or laser pointers. he FREAKS OUT trying to chase them!
Sabrina @ Coffee With Sabrina says
She has such a huge personality! I love it!!
Khushboo says
Love sloppy joes but actually hate it with bread- the bread gets too soggy. Good call on the cauliflower!
Molly says
That recipe looks delicious!
How old is Sadie?? She’s looking white in the muzzle! Or is that just her natural coloring? Such an adorable dog….
peanutbutterfingers says
she’ll be four in january 🙂

I think I let out a little shriek of joy when I saw the first couple of photos were of sadie. It implied an extra awesome post was about to ensue 🙂
Katelyn @ Chef Katelyn says
Omg so darn cute. I miss my puppy!
Marian says
Isn’t it so nice to have dogs in the house? It feels beyond strange when our dogs aren’t around. Although they are getting pretty boring since their not pups anymore. lol The usual is sleep, eat, bathroom, beg for food, sleep:) But I wouldn’t trade them!
Alaina says
Haha Sadie is so cute! She totally reminds me of my dog, Mandy, who is also on an endless mission to catch light reflections!
Julie says
I love those Sadie pictures!! She is too funny. You can just see her personality through your posts 🙂
Kim @thefamilypractice says
I love cauliflower – always forget about it which is weird since it is right next to the broccoli I buy all the time.
Alaina says
My mom makes sloppy joe’s open faced style, so we end up eating them with a knife and fork. So good though!
Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie says
Sadie is too cute!! You must have really missed her this weekend!
Jenn @ Lotus and Pie says
Sadies face cracks me up!!
How do you like to season your cauliflower? Just with salt and pepper? I never really roast my veggies… but am thinking of starting?!
peanutbutterfingers says
i usually toss it in olive oil and season it with garlic salt!
Yolie @ Practising Wellness says
Yup, yup, yup, I totally love 4 ingredient meals that come together in 15 minutes, they’re the BEST! 😀 Sadie’s faces are so funny – what a cutie! <3 xyx

Hah, I love the pictures of Sadie! She is so cute 🙂
Your sloppy joes look and sound delicious! I haven’t had sloppy joes in such a long time!
Christina says
I also make my Sloppy Joes using vinegar and ketchup – plus I add a little mustard for some zing! So much better than out of a can. My fiance Sean LOVES them so much, we now call them Sloppy Seans!

Sadie’s face is hilarious! She cracks me up everytime!
