Today my new maroon opaque tights made an appearance!
Wearing your Christmas gifts immediately makes it very easy to answer the inevitable “So, what did you get for Christmas?” question that pops up all over the workplace.
I simply point to the goods and say, “I got this you crazy nutfingers!”
Yesterday I realized that Ryan is the exact same way. He wore the new Nike gym shoes I got him to the gym, changed into his new Banana Republic pullover sweater after showering, and then wore a beige hoodie from his mom on our evening walk with Sadie.
I like his style. 😉
Workout
This morning I didn’t wear any of my new workout attire to the gym because I received shorts and tank tops and it was, yet again, really cold. Record lows in Central Florida this morning, folks. Twenty-eight degrees. Yikes!
Once at the gym I completed 50 minutes of cardio:
- 10 min. stair master (<– Why is this so hard for me?)
- 20 min. adaptive motion trainer
- 20 min. elliptical
While sweatin’, I read the latest issue of People magazine which highlighted events from 2010. The past year summary issue may be my favorite! I loved looking back at what happened around the world in 2010 and can’t wait to see what happens next year.
Time to start brainstorming some New Year’s resolutions!
Breakfast
Breakfast this morning was a bit unusual.
At work yesterday I snagged a Harry & David pear from a gift basket and sliced it up into a bowl before topping it with ricotta cheese, cinnamon and a squeeze of honey.
It was a surprisingly great combo!
Now that my belly is full, it’s time to work. I have tons of stuff on my office to-do list for today, so I better get crackin’!
Tina @ Faith Fitness Fun says
I can’t wait to wear new things too. That’s why you get the stuff!
Carrie says
ahahah i love wearing my new stuff! I’ve already broken in my new scarf and gloves :).. i like the ricotta pear combo!
Meg says
I HATE the stairmaster, haha kudos to you for lasting ten minutes 😉
Love your new stockings, they’re such a unique color! So seasonal and festive 😀
Enjoy your day!
Sarra says
i wish i was like that! i always buy nice things and “save” it for special occasions. then i have a closet stuffed with clothes i dont wear and i end up with nothing to wear on a daily basis haha
nancy says
Haha I’m the exact same way too. I wore I think 2 or 3 different tops yesterday for different occasions. Love being home for Christmas!
Maryann says
The stairmaster is so hard! Do you do one level the whole time? I have found that using the intervals setting helps me stay on longer because I can recover on the easier interval but it still allows for a great workout!
Brittany says
CUTE tights! More fun than brown and black 🙂
I think the Stairmill is by far the hardest machine at the gym and for that reason I am obsessed with it. Yesterday I did 8 miles worth of hard intervals on the treadmill and a half hour on the Stairmill . . . go figure, Stairmill was the definite buttkicker of those two things. What the heck?! It’s just stairs?!
Morgan @ Becoming Rooks says
Oh my gosh I do the exact same thing, too. Almost everything my husband and I wore to Christmas Dinner we had just opened that morning/the night before!
Victoria (District Chocoholic) says
I totally love your tights. I would love to wear colored opaque tights but am scared that my fashion-challenged self would totally flop it.
Healthy Chocohlic says
I do the same thing with the clothes that I recieve for Christmas. That breakfast bowl does actually look reaaaaally good! =D
Katy (The Singing Runner) says
i try my best to keep any new clothing I receive for a special occasion, but I’m like you, I’m too excited and have to wear it ASAP!
“I got this you crazy nutfingers!”— haha!!! 🙂
Amanda (Eating Up) says
I’m so jealous. I LOVE Harry & David pears!
carlee says
Nice tights!
I usually wear a lot of the stuff but then again I save some of it too!
Jamie @ Food in Real Life says
I love those Harry and David pears. They are amazing!
Hope says
I try to save some of my new items for a special occasion but it never usually works out that way. Love the tights! 🙂
Molly says
Guilty. I do that too. I am amazed with people who forgot they bought something from a store and find it later on with tags on. Show off the goodies!
Melissa says
I feel you on the stairmaster issue. I just started doing it and twenty minutes is tops due to how out of breath it makes me and I don’t even feel that my body is doing all that much movement. But I guess it is a good one because I actually feel like I’m working out on that machine and my body is not used to it which equals a good workout in my book.
Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life says
The stairmaster leaves me SO out of breath! I don’t understand it…it’s crazy intense.
Amber K says
My gym has those adaptive motion trainers, but I can’t seem to figure them out! I feel like I’m just hopping from one foot to another, but I see other people being able to swing their legs. I’ve tried it 2 or 3 times and I just can’t seem to make them work right!
Niki says
I totally agree!!! My gym also has those adaptive motion trainers and I’ve tried them a few times and felt like an idiot each time! I actually tried watching a YouTube video on it, but still can’t do it!. I go backwards, can’t break a sweat and feel stupid! hahaha
Rachel @ The Avid Appetite says
I’m the same way with my holiday gifts! I can never wait to dig right into them. Love using ricotta in sweet dishes!
Lea @ Healthy Coconut says
I am the same with Christmas gifts, I actually wear them or use them right away for pictures right after I open each gift. It’s funny and it’s good to look back years later and start seeing the patterns of the gifts, lol 🙂
Then I wear them for reals later during the week.
We are having a cold front here in Southern California too.
Jess@atasteofconfidence says
I think the stairmaster is hard for all of us!
Kacy says
I’m the same way, haha. I love those maroon tights!
Alexandrina @ The Cardio Queen says
That sounds delicious! It also seems like a combination that my sister would wonder why I would ever eat something like that. ha. She thinks my food combos are quite weird. 🙂
Sarah K. @ The Pajama Chef says
haha i do the exact same thing! if you got it, use it, right? 🙂
Lauren says
I love the stairmaster because I feel so high up in the gym, but it is HARD!
Alyssa says
Haha I am the same exact way with new things! Oh this LBD i’m wearing to work today? Christmas gift. Inappropriate, but cute nonetheless 🙂
Katelin says
Cute boots and tights! Do they have a wedge heel? Where are they from?!
Lauren says
I’m the same way!!!! I try to save them for a special occasion but I always end up wearing them all right away, sometimes even in the same day.
Kimberly says
Don’t feel discouraged with the whole stair master situation! I am a runner & do an hour cardio regularly and the stair master still gets me every time!!
ashley @ ashley's adventures in alaska says
We totally bust the new gifts out asap: what’s the point in them if you don’t use them?? You pear breakfast looks amazing! Now I want a pair. Or ricotta. Or honey. You know, all of it.
Anne @thefitbridesmaid says
I do the same thing with gifts. My (future) mother-in-law asked what I got for Christmas, and I replied “This sweater!”. So convenient!
Lisa says
Love, love, love the tights (the boots too). Where are they from?
peanutbutterfingers says
thanks! they’re from off 5th (the saks 5th avenue outlet). the boots are nine west.
Brittney says
I love your tights! Maroon is kind of the perfect color for tights if you are going to wear a color because it’s not too crazy but still more unique than plain old black or brown. Great idea!!
Katherine says
I wear my gifts right away too. In fact, if possible, I usually put them on right away. I love Christmas presents!!!
Your tights are super cute. I have a similar pair and I haven’t worn them much this year. But I may have to put them on tonight for girls’ night!
