As I briefly mentioned before, this year is officially the year of weddings for us. Ryan and I have five weddings to attend (I am in four and he is in one) and the wedding fun officially kicks off this weekend with my friend Laurel’s bachelorette party in Orlando.
I am so, so excited. We have a lot of fun stuff planned for the weekend and I spent most of the day today running around town picking up last-minute supplies for the special day. Tonight will be dedicated to crafting!
Oddly enough, I am just as excited for a low key night with the bride-to-be and the bridal party on Friday night as I am for the craziness that we have on the agenda on Saturday night. I love late nights spent talking away in pajamas and can’t wait to catch up with everyone on Friday and then party it up on Saturday.
Lunch
Since I was way on the other side of town running errands when my stomach started talking to me, I decided to pop into Firehouse Subs for lunch. I still had another errand to run before heading home and knew I wouldn’t get home until after 2 p.m., so a quick sub sounded like a good idea.
I ordered a ham sub on whole wheat with all the veggies but I forgot to ask for them to hold the mayonnaise. Mayo usually grosses me out, but it kind of melted into the provolone cheese and I didn’t notice it too much even though the sub looks mayo-tastic in these photos!
Delish!
Question of the Afternoon
- How would you like to celebrate your bachelorette party?
- If you are married, what was the most memorable thing about your bachelorette party?
Jennifer says
I wish you didn’t feel the need to justify getting mayo on your sandwich, or that some of it “melted into the provolone”. It’s just a condiment, who cares if you like it or how much was on there. Mayo for life!

I would love to just be united with all of my friends for my bachelorette party! I’m actually going to end up missing my best friends bachelorette party because I’ll be here in FL and it’s in IL and I would have already flown up there twice for wedding stuff before the bachelorette party. I’m actually super bummed about that.

The best part about my bachelorette party is that it fit me. We went to the mountains for the weekend, did some hiking, got some ice cream, made a mexican fiesta, and just hung out. It was perfectly designed to be what I’d want… and all of my favorite people were there.
Elizabeth @ myneonrunningshoes says
We did pole dancing lessons! It was quite an experience…
FitStyled says
We did that for my bachelorette, too, Elizabeth! 😀 (Not married yet…I get married June 1!)

I am married and did not have a bachelorette party. I really don’t see the need. Weddings are expensive as is; all the extra parties and showers are just an added extravagance that neither the bride, groom, their families or friends should have to pay for. I would even go so far as to say that these events are often dreaded by many attendees – people often feel obligated to dish out for outlandish trips because they are in the bridal party even though they don’t want to and can’t afford to. If these people are truly close to you, spending quality time with them will come naturally and not have to be a part of the craziness that has become weddings.

I absolutely love anything wedding related! It’s so exciting and you can definitely do things on a budget and still have a blast. My friends never expect anything, I love doing these things for them and watching them enjoy their special moments 🙂

My bachelorette was pretty tame … We watched Steve Martins’ FOTB 1 and 2 on VHS (!!!) , ate popcorn and freshly baked white chocolate macadmia cookies and drank diet coke.
I hate the burning taste of alcohol so it’s hard for me to find a drink that doesn’t burn (Somersby Cider is okay but it wasn’t around then!)
Natalie says
Ahh my bachelorette party was fun but a little too fun 😉 We made the drinks a little too strong and planning a bridal luncheon the next day was a bad idea!

That’s SO funny. I had a boyfriend in my early 20’s that wore Michael Jordan cologne. As I recall it smelled pretty great. My best guy friend wore Curve. CK1 was hugely popular too.
I’m trying to remember my first perfume. I think it was something along the lines of Loves Baby Soft.
My favorite perfume in middle school was Exclamation and Electric Youth (yes Debbie Gibson Perfume!) haha.

My bachelorette party was amazing and so unique! My sister, the matron, and three of my bridesmaids each opened their home for the party. We took a limo from home to home starting and ending at the same home. Each house represented a stage in my life. I started in the beginning wearing a diaper and ended with a blow up man! Such a great idea!!!

I would love to just go dancing all night long! I don’t want any of the tacky stuff I’ve seen before.
We have 5 weddings to attend this year too and then 3 next year, it is full on 🙂

I love the idea of having a chill night one night and a party night the next!

My bachelorette is this weekend! Some of us rented a cottage near wine country so lots of wine, a little spa, a hike, delicious food, and time with my favorite ladies!
Maria says
My bachelorette party ended up not being very fun. I did not choose my bridesmaids wisely, and felt like I owed it to friends, so it was a lot of flakiness and complaining. But a few weeks before my mom, my aunts, and I ran the Disney Princess Half marathon and that was WAY more fun than my party, and we kept joking that it was my real bachelorette party. =) Very few things in life are as fun as a race. =)

Five weddings…wow!! Sounds like so much fun though!! Unfortunately, I didn’t have a bachelorette party. The time just got away from me back then. 🙁

The best part of my bachlorette party was a comedy club we went started off the night at. The comedian was hysterical and made fun of us the entire night and I loved every minute of it!

My sister planned an awesome get-a-way bachelorette party with an amazing group of women to Nashville for CMAFest!!! It was an absolute blast as we jammed out to 4 days worth of country music!!! I will NEVER forget the fun we had!!!

Loves baby soft, had it, loved it, still would wear it!!!! Does anyone remember “Chrystal” perfume from the character Chrystal from “Dynasty”?? I’m probably showing my age, but I had that and thought I was so fancy!!!!! Ah, brings back childhood memories :).

I didn’t have a bachelorette party. We got married at a courthouse, mainly to avoid having a big wedding. I am not against bachelorette parties though, but it probably would’ve been a weekend getaway to Chicago or the lake if I had decided to have one. Too many girls going out usually equals drama! It sounds like you and your friends are all old enough/mature enough to keep it classy. I think I just attended too many bachelorette parties during and right after college, haha.

I loved my bachelorette party, my girls planned it perfectly! I knew I wanted to keep it mom and grandma approved so they could join in the fun! After a wonderful lingerie shower we all headed to howl at the moon in Chicago! It was perfect! I danced the night away with my girlfriends, mom and my grandma(I think she was hit of the night!)!! And I enjoyed all the live music and dueling pianos!

Ahhh exciting- cannot wait for the hens parties 😉
Rachel says
My ‘bachelorette’ night was actually a traditional henna night here in turkey. I didn’t really want it, but my husband’s family seemed to think i did. It was very intimidating- i had no idea what i was supposed to do! I wore the traditional costume with hat and all, there was lots of food and dancing, and everyone sang a sad song with candles. I was in the middle of the circle with the ceil over my head. They usually sing until the bride to be cries, but in my case i didn’t cry 🙂 my mother in law put a gold coin in my hand (you are supposed to keep your hand closed until she offers a bigger gold) and then they put the henna on my hand. I wish i could say i enjoyed it more, but i was too nervous and i hate being the center of attention anyway! Everytime i tried to sit down (it was exhausting) my moth in law would try to make me dance! At least it was an experience!

That should say ‘veil!’

I’m all about a day of fun (lunch and shopping) and then getting ready together in a hotel and going out to a fun dinner with champagne and then going somewhere to dance! I wouldnt want to go to a place where it’s common for bachelorette parties, though. i want to be the only bachelorette wherever i go hahaha

I just had Firehouse Subs for lunch today! Love their veggie on wheat.
