This evening Ryan and I had our friends Merri, Laurel and Benny over for dinner to thank them for watching Sadie for us when we were in Jacksonville two weekends ago.
Before they arrived, I prepared a quick appetizer of honey goat cheese dip, served with vanilla wafers.
Sadie was very intrigued.
In case you are interested in making this unbelievably easy and delicious dip yourself, I created a quick, totally corny video tutorial.
Sadie makes a little cameo, so it may be worth a watch to see her frantic but adorable face. (Click here to watch this video on YouTube if you cannot see it above.)
I must say, I was very tempted to record this video in a super-deep man’s voice just to throw you guys for a loop. Maybe next time I’ll do a video with an accent to keep you on your toes. 😀
A little before 7 p.m. our friends arrived and we sat down to homemade chicken soup.
I made the soup by loosely following my mom’s chicken soup recipe.
It was a hit!
My friend Merri also brought over several packages of break-and-bake cookies, which we all enjoyed for dessert. She made them in preparation for a holiday cookie exchange we have planned for tomorrow. More weeknight fun! Woo!
I do have to work tomorrow though, so it’s off to bed for this girl.
See ya in the a.m.!
“woohoo i went to college!” hahahahaha! please do an accent next time 😛
ps your wedding ring is stunning, looove it
Its funny hearing you chat on your video, because you really do come across in your blog like you seem to be in real life. Genuine!
This dip looks super yummy! Perfect for taking as an appetizer for the holidays. I’ll have to give it a try when I have company visiting over the next couple weeks. Thanks for posting the recipe!
How nice to have thanked your friends with this yummy dinner!
CUTE boots, by the way! Are those Wellies?
yes they are! i kind of love them.
“Woohoo, I went to college!” made me giggle out loud! You are too funny. And Sadie is adorable 🙂 I love the sweater.
You need to post more videos!!! Love it and I can’t wait to try making the dip 😛 mmmmm
Sadie is SO cute! And I never thought to put honey with goat cheese–and I really liked the demo. 🙂
i love the vid & the goat cheese & honey dip sounds DELICIOUS! im definitely making it tomorrow..
and your gorgeous wedding ring made quite an appearance 🙂
I actually LOLed when you said that food processors were expensive. Mine has lasted me for a year now (still going strong) and was $20. Definitely a lifesaver!
Ahhhhh-dor-able! 🙂 love the video debut!
We need to compare notes, I made my parents homemade chicken noodle soup for dinner tonight too! It feels amazing when you have a wheezing cough and a sore throat 🙂 I’m loving all the veggies in yours!!
Love the video! With all the times that I’ve tried to pour honey, I’ve never thought to remove the cap. I don’t think my college had a course in kitchen common sense!
hhaha your so cute! your wedding ring absolutely shined in this video! and i agree that you act just like you do in your real life as on the blog!
im gonna suprise my mom with that dip on christmas! lol and set in on our food platter! hehe
your moms soup looks amazing. i want to bath in it considering it is 3 degrees in chicago.
random question…
did u know there is a tiny little smiley face on the right side of the blog?
its all the way at the top.
Haha this video made my morning! You’re so funny! More videos please! 😀
Goat cheese is my favorite! This dip looks incredible! Definitely something I’ll have to make. And then try not to eat the whole thing :P.
I love how Sadie has made a cameo in both of your how-to videos. Soooo cute!!! I want a doggie!!
MMM, your dinner looks so good!

I spy cute boots 😉 mmm and I love goat cheese + honey! One of my favorite dip combos
Dip w/vanilla wafers sounds so good!!! Yum.
I love your boots too 🙂
I love video Julie! And that little outfit on Sadie cracks me up. When I grow up I want a dog just like her.
Wow, I never thought of making goat cheese sweet with honey, I’ll have to try it!!
I had a Friday night last night, too! 🙂 My parents came over for my boyfriends famous Drunken Rissotto, we killed a couple bottles of wine, and played Kinect for 2 hours. We were wiped at the end of the night, but it was so much fun! 🙂
I have to admit partly watched your video to seethe recipe and partly b/c you mentioned Sadie was making a cameo!
Oh I love girls nights in the middle of the week. Since my bestie moved to Boston I’m severely missing her and them!
Your apartment is so cute! I love the xmas tree and living room area.. That shelf you have the TV stand on is awesome.. The cubbies are perfect!
They sell honey chevre at TJ’s, just FYI :o)
Loved the video! It’s nice to see a recipe in action!
You definitely need to do more videos! You sound exactly like I thought you would.
Julie-
I was looking at this recipe and wondering why it sounds so familiar and delicious!…I have a fabulous goat cheese and honey PIZZA recipe (very easy) that I think you would absolutely LOVE. We discovered it in St.Maarten- our friend there has his own pizza business..he calls this the “Sugar Mama”..
You basically just take pizza dough, sprinkle with mozzarella, dab it with tons of goat cheese, and drizzle with a TON of honey…
Just thought you would be interested..maybe a future blog post! 🙂
that sounds like heaven!
Looks yummy and super simple. Lucky me I do have a food processor. Also, your hair looked great!
Ryans cousin jason (my husband bear) is this crazy amazing pastry chef….you’re gonna need a mini NILLA wafer cake that he makes. I say mini because they are thaaaaat good girl…and anything bigger is dangerous and will miraculously disappear overnight in your fridge! !
ps. I love when you said WHOO HOO I WENT TO COLLEGE! …awesome!
