Check out this monster!
That would be my almost-to-big-for-my-mouth veggie burger bagelwich!
I wasn’t sure if I would be able to fit it all in my mouth (TWSS)…
But I dug deep and achieved victory!
On top of a toasted onion bagel, I enjoyed one of my favorite veggie burgers, topped with ketchup, mustard, relish, lettuce, tomato slices and sauerkraut.
I inhaled this lunch!

Weird Things I Do Daily
And now it’s time for some randomness!
As I took Sadie for her walk this morning, I started to think about some of the odd things I do day in and day out. I think everyone has a routine of some sort and habits they do each day.
Here are some of the odd things I find myself doing throughout any given day:
- I always wipe the doggie eye boogers out of Sadie’s eyes immediately after I wake up.
- I jam out to throwback CDs from my junior high and high school years as I get ready (think Alanis Morissette, ‘NSync, Night at the Roxbury soundtrack, Dave Matthews Band, OAR, etc.).
- I ask myself whether or not I really need to shower after the gym… and then I always do. I hate showering and am convinced I never would if I didn’t work out.
- I visit the Breast Cancer Site and click the big, pink button to give a woman a free mammogram.
- Whenever I leave the house, I always say, “Bye, bye Sadie. I love you, baby girl. Be good. I’ll be home soon.” She understands me.
- I think to myself that I should do more yoga.
- I take a bite out of one of the frozen bananas I have stored in the freezer and put it back into the bag while I’m making breakfast.
- I plan on making one thing for dinner in the morning and then change my mind after lunch (unless it’s a crock pot meal!).
- I have an internal debate as to whether or not I should try to convince Ryan to just eat fro yo for dinner with me. (This is every day. Seriously. Thank goodness all of our fro yo places are at least 10 minutes away or have awful parking arrangements.)
- I think about getting another dog and check vizsla rescue websites. Ryan banned me from sending him pictures of dogs that need rescuing. It makes him too sad. I tricked him into thinking I adopted a vizsla puppy about a month ago and he was actually really excited, so then I felt awful! He’s been wanting another dog for a while now, but I’m still nervous and apprehensive about it!
- I always have to kiss Ryan good night. We’ll often be up late talking and eventually I roll on my side and get so, so tired, but I always have to kiss him goodnight or I’ll feel like it’s bad luck and I’m jinxed or something. So strange.
- I pick at Sadie’s toenails and check her ears. She hates this. I think it’s the big sister in me coming out… I like to pester.
Question of the Afternoon
What is one odd thing that you do daily?
P.S. The Fashion page was updated this afternoon.
Amanda says
Ok, this is odd, but my husband usually puts my puppy out in the backyard at around the time I come home from work. When I open the garage door and see him, I scream (more like schreek) his name and at that point, he slams his paws on the ground and does circle 8’s around my oak in the backyard. I love it! Weird I know, but it makes my day. =)
Jenny @ Fitness Health and Food says
I am ALL about veggie burgers that are almost too big to eat! Congrats on your delicious victory!
I say eat fro yo whenever you feel like it and I feel the same way about having to kiss my husband goodnight, and when we part for the day 🙂
ellalinea says
Hmmm weird things I do daily..
– I always knock on wood 2x If I have a bad thought
– I have to kiss my boyfriend goodnight as well, otherwise I fell like I’m missing something 🙂
– I have to have chocolate everyday ( That’s not weird haha! )
– I leave the teabag in a small pot, because I use it mutiple times.. Yes i’m economical 😉
– I still wear my glasses, although they are totally crooked because I sat on them once..
– I use a lot of toilet paper..really.. a lot..

– I do the Kendra dance at least once a day, or play the air guitar :p
Heather says
Umm, I do the EXACT same thing. If I dont hear it, its not locked. I usually make it beep twice.
OCD much, that would just add to my other tendencies 🙂
Heather says
Oops, wrong comment 🙁
ellalinea says
hahaha I was confused! 😉
Cassie @ Naturally Cassie says
I press the ‘lock’ button on my car keys twice so the car beeps. If I don’t hear the beep, then I am not confident that it is locked.
Is this a daily ritual, or a sign of ocd??? uh oh!

Cassie @ Naturally Cassie says
glad i am not alone!
krista says
OMG I hate car beepers! They always seem to do it while I’m walking by, which makes me jump! Haha
Jesse says
thank you for sharing that breast cancer website, i will start clicking the button too 🙂
whenever i leave the house i always talk to my puppy too, i say “be a good girl lucy, i’ll be home soon!” i like to tell her to be a good girl because she likes to chew up her blankets/beds in her crate.
when i was working i would come home every single day on my lunch to let her out of her crate to go potty and when i would put her back in the crate to leave to go back to work i would always tell her how many hours of work i had left and when i’d be home! i think she understand too 🙂
Laura @ prettylittlewords says
Hahahaha, I TOTALLY do the eye boogers and saying “bye bye, be good!” with my kitties 🙂 I can’t help it!!
Is that one of your alternative bagels? I seriously think I have a Pavlov reflex to drool whenever I see a bagel…they’re probably my favorite food ever 😀
Heather B says
The only things I feel I have to do daily are things that I think of as normal like needing to eat peanut butter or tell the hubby I love him or taking my vitamin. Also, telling the animals (two cats, one crazy dog) that we’ll be right back when I leave.
I love fro yo. In fact, being that I’m home by myself tonight, I’m thinking on having it for dinner. Our fro yo place isn’t far away but does have a dreadful parking arrangement; the entire street is nothing but restaurants and the amount of parking is minimal. But it’s so freaking hot that nothing else sounds half as good.
Erin @ Naturally Addicted says
I love the throwback CD comment! I definitely do this… ‘NSYNC, Britney Spears… o yea!
Other weird things I do daily…
– Sing lists to myself so I won’t forget… especially grocery lists.
– Lick my smoothie bowls and cups clean so I don’t miss out on a single drop.
– Discuss my dinner options hours before dinner time rolls around, so I know I’m making the right choice
Brittany says
I used to do a similar thing to your goodnight kiss. I always had to say, “goodnight, I love you, see you in the morning” to my parents before going to bed at night or I thought something bad was going to happen. Now I have to say goodnight and I love you to my boyfriend (often via text message, boo).
Chloe (South Beach Girl) says
1. I roll over, sleepily grab my phone, and call my boyfriend. I hate not waking up to his voice, especially since we are doing long distance.
2. As soon as that’s done I MUST pee as soon as I wake up. It’s impossible for me to lounge around in bed.
3. I stretch my back out constantly. It’s more of habit now, but I like to reach my arms far out behind my head and do a back bend in my chair.
That’s all I can think of for now but I’m sure there are many more!
Mel (Mmm Stories) says
Love the shower thing! I’m the same way – in the winters the amount of showers I take drops dangerously low unless I work out (and even then..) 🙂
Dawn @ Blonde on a Mission says
I always tell my puppies I love them & to be good and “I’ll be back soon!” when I leave the house. Another weird thing I do daily is that I’ll wear my glasses for as long as possible until I have to leave the house. I hate wearing contacts, but I also don’t like wearing glasses outside when it’s too sunny.
Alexandrina @ The Cardio Queen says
haha. So glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t exactly like taking showers. I probably would go a few days if I didn’t work out either. 😉
Emilia says
This might not sound too weird, but everyday I have to check the weather in order to decide what to wear. I end up doing this multiple times just to make sure nothing has changed. And I live in England, where we get every kind of temperature during the course of the day! And I totally understanding the thinking about doing more yoga; I do that everyday as well 😉
KaraHadley says
I am the worst about looking at rescue sites! I have been trying to convince my boyfriend that we NEED a dog for the longest time. I want one so bad. And it’s so hard to say no to those adorable little faces!
Shari @ Chicago Cuisine Critique says
I am the same way with goodnight kisses. I always have to kiss my boyfriend goodnight before I go to sleep. It’s like I WON’T be able to sleep if I don’t. Who knows?
Holly says
•I plan on making one thing for dinner in the morning and then change my mind after lunch <— I ALWAYS do that too! It's like after lunch my taste buds change & they want a totally different dinner! hahaha- glad I'm not alone 🙂
& I always do the kiss before sleep too..we have a sign above our bed that says 'Always Kiss Me Goodnight'- I love it..and we stick to it!
Allison @ Happy Tales says
haaaaa we have a sign above the nightstand that says that, too!!!
Lindsey says
I am the same way with the good night kiss! It always has to happen 🙂
When I come home for lunch the first thing I have to do is find my cat, its like I think she secretly escaped since the morning when I left for work, which I know is impossible unless she can open and unlock doors~
Liv @ The Salty n' Sweet says
I always begin my day by drinking an entire bottle of water, I read the NYTimes on my laptop while making breakfast, and I exercise about 1.5 hours after I eat. And before I go to sleep, I always make sure to kiss my CAT goodnight 🙂
Lauren B. says
I floss 3 x per day… I know, I know, that’s VERY unusual and weird! But I am a dental hygienist, so what can I say?! I have GREAT gums!
Courtney @ The Granola Chronicles says
I HAVE to kiss my husband good night also! I always make sure that whenever we sleep or leave each other for the day, that we kiss. It’s a little (fun!) ritual! 🙂
Julia says
I always wake up, get breakfast, and then come back and stand by my bed with my head on my pillow. It looks really strange and always makes me want to go back to bed, but I love the few extra seconds with my pillow haha.
I also always text my boyfriend when I wake up, and then tell my dog she’s annoying in very loving voice (don’t worry I love her to death but she’s crazy in the morning).
Junieb says
I brush my teeth at least 3 times every morning. Then a couple of times at night. I do not know where this came from; but I have been doing it for about 5 years now.
Laura @ First Class Great Outdoors says
You are not alone with the dog eye boogers 🙂 Cleaning the eyes of my two dogs is either the first or second thing I do in the morning. They look so much better once I do.
As a two-dog household, I can say that I can’t imagine NOT having two dogs. Bringing in our second, Bailey, definitely had it’s moments, but most of that had to do with where we got her from.
Thea and Bailey are best buds. They entertain one another (and us 🙂 ) and just want to be close to each other…most of the time. When they are separated, like when we travel (Thea stays with my mom and Bailey gets boarded), they each get really depressed.
I’m a big fan of the two-dog household 😉
Lauren (Sugar Spice and Daisies) says
I always say “bye babies, I love you!” to my dogs when I leave the house. I also randomly tell them “I love you!” like 9839738322902 times a day. I kiss my husband every night too! It just doesn’t feel right if I don’t.
Kara says
This was a SUPER FUN post to read Julie! I never knew you could give free mammograms on the website … just clicked on the pink button for the very first time! I love FIRSTS! 🙂
Random story … I was at the grocery store today and saw the 2nd dog in two days in a hot car with the temp at 80 degrees or higher. Talk about being super frustrated and down on people for the last two days … reading how much you love Sadie and take care of her … helps balance my frustration with these idiot owners who have no respect for their dogs! So THANK YOU 🙂
Chelsea says
Awh your weird habits are so much like mine hahaha! I always have internal conversations with myself about food. I also kiss my boy-friend goodnight and if I fall asleep without doing it I feel really awkward and have to do it immediately. Like when you accidentally snooze off without realizing it eek!
A weird habit I have that you don’t? I’m an organization freak. If you touch/move one thing in my room I’ll immediately put it back in it’s proper place.
Sandy says
I wipe the doggy eye boogers from my dogs eyes everyday too! And I also always say goodbye to her and tell her to be a good girl. I also email dogs that need rescuing to my bf all day too! Haha We have one and think about getting another one all the time! 🙂
Laurel says
I pluck my eyebrows every single day when I do my makeup…I can’t deal with unkempt eyebrows! I also say by to Natasha and tell her I’ll be home soon :
Gen says
I really need to find a good veggie burger recipe…..the only frozen ones we have here cost $11 for a box of 4! ugh!
Weird thing I do daily: There are actually lots of things, but one of them is that I’ll open the fridge, pull out some random leftover rice or pasta and take a bite!
Kelsey @ a piece of kelsey says
I love your TWSS comments – that is one weird thing i definitely say on a daily basis! I also flip down the pillows for my boyfriend and I before either one of us gets in bed – I like to think of it as a hotel turn down service.
Candice says
I say eat froyo for dinner everynight and everyother lunch! I live in Dekalb, IL and there are no froyo places…you’d think this would be a good thing; however I just discovered Ben and Jerry’s half baked froyo…tastes just like the real thing! YUM!
Paula @ Eat: Watch: Run says
Excellent work on the TWSS. Hee!
I always touch my husbands toes with my toes before we go to sleep. He hates it cuz my feet are cold and usually pushes me away or makes a sad whimpering sound.
Also, I’m sure he would love that I’m typing this.
Laura @ Backstage Pass says
Haha – TWSS! I don’t care what anyone else thinks about “TWSS” comments, I think they’re hilarious and say / think that all of the time. Sooo funny!
Other odd things… my closet is pretty messy, yet every day I insist upon making the bed and doing all of the dishes before I leave the house.
– I also hate showering and do the “do I really need to? I don’t feel *that* sweaty…” after lighter workouts
– I always lick the peanut butter knife after I make my sandwich to take to work
– I also talk to our pets – two dogs and a cat. And I call them all “our puppies” even though only one of them is indeed a puppy.
– The puppy and the cat stay in our laundry room during the day, so I now call that “the Boys’ room”
– The only reason I shop at Old Navy is for dog clothes! Halloween and 4th of July are the BEST!
Kaitlyn @ 7 Plates says
I get ready to the same music too! It pumps me up for the day!
Michelle says
I just had to google TWSS…funny!
Definitely go for the second dog. We got a Weim about a year after getting our Vizsla & it was one of the best decisions ever. They play together & tire each other out, so it seems like less work even though there are two dogs.
Val says
I also go to the breast cancer site and click the big pink button everyday!!! I always wondered if other people did that daily!
janetha @ meals & moves says
I am the same way with kissing goodnight 🙂
Alexa @ Simple Eats says
That breast cancer site is awesome. It really made me feel great to give back!
Gen says
Haha! Love this post. I love articles about the simple things of life like that, things that are close to us! Well, Weird things I do, well in the morning, I check my email even before I’m dressed, I check the weather and the temperature with a handout from the window. I eat biscuits in the evening in front of the tv… and I’ve run out of ideas! ^^
Katie (dailymaiermusings.blogspot.com) says
So, I made almost the EXACT same thing for lunch yesterday, minus the kraut, and I used an Yves “chicken” veggie burger. Sooo good. And on an unrelated note, I made a chocolate oatmeal in an empty peanut butter jar today…
And then my mind exploded. You’ll definitely be getting a shout out on my blog for that one soon!
peanutbutterfingers says
Omg did you microwave the jar?????
Katie (dailymaiermusings.blogspot.com) says
No, I debated it forever though, and finally decided to just microwave the oats and then pour it in piping hot. I loved it so much I posted it as a second recipe on my blog today, and linked you in it (oh…maybe I should have asked permission for that first, let me know if you want me to unlink it!).
-Katie
Heather says
Do you think Sadie would get jealous of another dog or enjoy having another playmate around?
I have two small dogs and after 5 years we decided to adopt. They get along great but my older dog does tend to get jealous. That’s why I asked.
peanutbutterfingers says
I think she’d be a little jealous. She’s used to being numero uno.
Caitlin says
That is so cute that you always have to kiss Ryan goodnight!
Jess says
haha I`m the same way with my boyfriend. Everynight when I`m JUST about to fall asleep I roll over and kiss him goodnight. He`s the same way..got to have that kiss and kiss goodbye in the morning:)
Julia says
One odd thing I do is eat one brazil nut after breakfast- no matter what I had. I don’t even like them that much haha.
peanutbutterfingers says
Too funny!!
The Teenage Taste says
I always have to wipe the eye boogers out of my doggies eyes in the morning. I guess they ooze out while she sleeps? Either way, it bothers me so I have to clean it off!
Jessica @ The Process of Healing says
Such a cute post!!
I have a weird morning routine.. I either will watch I love lucy, bewitched, or sex in the city or read a book with breakfast. It’s my me time 🙂
LeeAnn says
Now that you are at home more….Another dog seems totally do-able! And 2…a fro yo place is going in 2 doors down from my office-it is a problem!
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
I always always straighten the kitchen towels before I leave for work — I like them folded in half and then hung on the stove. Jason laughs when I straighten stuff like this — I can be 20 minutes late but I’ll always stop to do that.
