Goodness gracious. I almost slept in until 8 a.m. today!
Ryan woke up around 6:30 a.m. to get some food in is stomach before his soccer game early this morning. He was set to leave the house around 8:15 a.m. and unleashed the madness of Sadie on me at around 7:50 a.m. So close!
Once I was up and about, I ate a healthified Egg Muffin for breakfast.
I love this breakfast sandwich!
After digesting for a bit, I changed into my workout clothes and hit the gym for a fairly easy workout.
Workout
I usually take Sundays off from the gym, but my body felt rested and was in the mood for a workout. I took my booty to the gym and completed an easy 50 minutes on the elliptical while simultaneously paging through several different magazines and watching Say Yes to the Dress on TLC.
Whenever I watch that show I am constantly amazed at the total disregard for the bride’s feelings in many cases. It seems like mothers, sisters, friends and even fathers want the bride to wear what they like and not what she likes! Nuts!
I feel very lucky that my mom and sister gave their opinions and were honest withrushing me me, but always let me speak first and really cared about how I felt in the dresses.
After the elliptical, I spent a little time on a mat stretching out my legs.
Once I left the gym, it was time for a pit stop at Whole Foods.
I needed to pick up some ingredients for the bisque I am planning to make for dinner tonight. Since I didn’t have Ryan rushing me with me, I browsed around for a good 45 minutes.
I can spend an inordinate amount of time in any grocery store, but put me in Whole Foods or The Fresh Market and I could be there for half a day.
On my way home, I noticed that Menchie’s was open and since I was in the area, I just had to stop in for some frozen yogurt.
I mean, who doesn’t like to top off their workout with a little fro yo? 😉 Today’s concoction included coffee, toffee, pralines and cream and original tart frozen yogurt, topped with Cool Whip and Butterfinger pieces.
When I got home, Ryan arrived back from his soccer game about 10 minutes afterward and he was hungry!
Lunch
We quickly made ourselves a tasty lunch that included whole wheat penne pasta, marinara sauce and sweet Italian sausage.Quite a filling lunch!
Now Ryan and I are off to take Sadie on a walk around the lake near our apartment. It is so beautiful outside!
Finishing off a good workout with froyo is the best! And say yes to the dress is one of my favorite shows! Me and my roommates always watch it 🙂 Have a good day!
LOVE Say Yes to the Dress! The pasta with sausage looks like a delish and hearty lunch. Speaking of lunch– I need to go make some!
I’m a big fan of Say Yes to the Dress AND Four Weddings. Hearing those girls tear each others weddings apart just puts me in awe of how cut throat people can be!
Yogurt is always amazing after a workout, specially the frozen one 😀
Have a nice day with Ryan!
I can totally relate to the husband “rushing” you when in a grocery store. I think that is a sign of a true “foodie”…spending inordinate amounts of time in a grocery store (and maybe not even buying anything!). Anytime I am going to TJ’s or Whole Foods, I strategically time it so my husband goes for a stroll, or for a bite to eat so I don’t feel rushed. hee!
The pasta dish is making me crave pasta 🙂
Fro-yo’s the perfect way to treat yourself after a tought workout! 😛
Fro-yo after a workout… why not?!? I can spend FOREVER in any grocery store, too.
I always schedule my workouts for when my favorite tv shows are on! haha. Its the best strategy to enjoy working out! =)
How fun! I have just recently found out about my love for fro yo! Seriously! 🙂
Pinkberry is delish!
Your lunch looks pretty good too!
AND
You have just inspired me to go to the gym after my lunch!
Thanks! 🙂
I wish I could live through your eats today, haha is that wierd?! Froyo and sausage in marinara = perfection. Oh, and an awesome breakfast as well. McD’s ain’t got nothin’ on Julie!
Enjoy your day girl!!
I know what you mean about Say Yes To The Dress — especially when family members point out “skin rolls” on their back, etc. I mean, yes the bride wants to look beautiful, but those comments are not helpful!
I love egg sandwiches like yours for breakfast. They are so easy to make and taste great. Enjoy your afternoon!
Hey Julie,
I just want to wish you all the best for this week… and weekend! I’ve been following your blog for a few months now, and I just love it. I am studying for my final year law exams at the moment (live in New Zealand) and checking your blog is a great study break!
Once again, all the best, don’t stress the small stuff and I’m sure it will be amazing x
thanks so much, amanda! how cool that you’re in new zealand. i bet it’s absolutely beautiful there!
Fro yo after a workout sounds like a great idea, I usually like to take Sundays off but I too spent some time on the elliptical watching Amazing Wedding Cakes!
I want fro-yoo!!!!!
its totally raining over here like buckets and the wind is blowin. i kinda like it though, all snuggled up in my new cozy sweats!
All of your fro yo flavours sound delicious!
Oh girlfriend, I hear you – I can spend hours in a grocery store, just looking at things. Wtf? I love it.
(P.S. holla from another international reader – I’m in Australia!)
Oooo Menchie’s! Seattle is getting its very first self-serve fro-yo place (Menchie’s) and it’s going to be 3 blocks from my place. Exciting and dangerous! What’s your favorite flavor?
my favorites are: peanut butter, toffee, pumpkin spice and coconut! so good!
We were watching SYTTD also, and had similar comments. In one episode, clearly the bride loved it, but the friends were like “I hate it!” I especially hate when the fiance is there and has a similar reaction. Would he say that to her on their wedding day?!?
I am the same way with any kind of food markets! Also, your menchies concoction sounds perfect!
