Ahhh yes, my beloved noodle bowl.
- Carba Nada basil fettuccine pasta (12 grams of protein per serving!)
- Barilla mushroom and garlic pasta sauce
- Steamed broccoli
As usual I beefed up my pasta bowl with steamed broccoli to get that extra volume I love.
I am definitely a “volume eater.”
I like to consume large quantities of food at my meals, so incorporating healthy, low calorie foods like vegetables into my meals allows me to eat a lot without causing weight gain. Two cups of broccoli has approximately 60 calories while two teeny Double Stuf Oreos have 140 calories. Which will fill you up more? (Yes, I am well aware that Oreos taste better than broccoli. Of course you may eat them and still maintain a healthy lifestyle… I’m just usin’ them as a comparison.)
A New Home
If you follow my blog it’s no secret that I am not a blog-savvy person. It took me months to discover Google Reader and now, 10 months after starting the ol’ blog, I finally dropped the “.wordpress.com” from my website address.
(If you’re also not the most blog savvy person, check out this post that I did especially for YOU!)
Better late than never, right?
Welcome to my new home, PBFingers.com!!! 🙂
Hopefully my new domain name will be easy for you guys to remember! If you have me linked anywhere on your blogs, feel free to update the link with my new web address (and THANK YOU!).
Also, I have to say a special thank you to Courtney, Lisa and Meghann for helping me figure out how to make the switch via Twitter! You guys are the best! 😀
Question of the Afternoon
Are you a volume eater? What low calorie food is your favorite to fill up on?
I love filling up on veggies that I make into “fries” like rutabaga fries or turnip fries. Yum!
Gigi Sabla says

I love using veggies to fill up. I also stay full longer if healthy fat is involved.
Jessica @ How Sweet says
Woohoo! Congrats on .com. 🙂
Callie @ Callieflower Kitchen says
I’m definitely a volume eater too. I love snacking on fresh fruit at night, and I also like having big salads with my meals because they keep me occupied for longer 😉
Michelle says
Congrats!

YAY for pbfingers.com!
I am definitely a volume eater, and my favourite thing to fill up on is watermelon!
Jodi says
I’m definitely a volume eater. My go-to volume pumpers are broccoli and cauliflower for an entree, and berries for dessert. Volume + fiber = double win!
Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine says
Congrats on the name change!! I’m definitely a volume eater, which is why carbs are my favorite food group!! I love healthy fats, but they just don’t fill me up the way lots of carbs do!
Marilou says
Definitely a volum eater. When I started losing weight, I starved myself by reducing my portion to a minimum … because that’s what you’re “suposed to do” …
Now, I know better. I have a huge appetite and I need to fill it: Enters the veggie galore!
You should see my salads … Oops!
katecooks says
i am definitely a volume eater! i always bulk up a dish with veggies or have a huge salad on the side. otherwise i never feel full 🙂
Becca says
I most definitely eat for volume! i love broccoli slaw!! i make awesome salads out of it with cucumbers and tomatoes! it is so low calorie, but completely filling. i could also eat my weight in peaches and cherries during the summer!
Katherine says
Watermelon!!! mmmm…can’t get enough this summer!
homecookedem says
I am definitely a volume eater! I love butternut squash and kabocha fries!! Also, steamed broccoli with salsa on top is good… and veggie soup… and a big salad crammed with veggies!!
Amanda @ AmandaOnFoot says
I used to be a volume eater, but slowly I’ve been training myself to eat less. I dunno, I just feel better when I eat less, almost like a light, airy feeling. I bet that sounds crazy, but I’m not really sure how to explain. Eating a load of food, no matter how low it is in calories, doesn’t sit well with my stomach or mentality.

tanyasdaily says
I agree vegetables are a good way to get a lot of volume and leave you full.
Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
Congrats on the new domain! I am a volume eater because, let’s face it, eating a lot is fun. I like red pepper strips and carrots. They are low calorie and the carrots take me a while to eat. Fresh fruit is the same. Oh- and Mary’s Gone Crackers. Those have a huge serving size and they are hard to chew (but still tasty) so they take me a while to eat.
Maura says
CONGRATS!! If all goes well on my blog, I might do the same thing 🙂
tracy says
volume eater here too ….my go-to’s are also broccoli and cauliflower. Green beans are great too. Berries and little plums, and air-popped popcorn when I have to have a Bowl of something;-)
louisianagrown says
Congratulations on the move! I’m definitely a volume eater and love huge salads for lots of chewing and zero guilt.
Chicago Cuisine Critique says
Hi Julie! Your blog is too cute. I am also a UCF grad, now living in Chicago (originally from FL), funny coincidence. Anyway, I wanted to let you know that I have your blog linked to mine and the website automatically changed to your new .com – Congrats by the way! 🙂
Courtney says
YAY!
You’re welcome! 😀
Amber K says
I am TOTALLY a volume eater. I like big ol’ bowls of stuff. My favorite veggies to fill out a meal are broccoli and cucumber!
Despues I Do says
Congrats on the new domain name! I’m impressed – I am so tech-phobic that I don’t think I could ever move a blog over to a different host!
And I’m a volume eater, too! Watermelon is my best friend lately…
Anna says
Doesn’t it feel great dropping the wordpress? It just felt so much lighter when I made that move!
Shelby says
Now I wanna make veggie fries!
Umm, when I’m really hungry I’m a volume eater.. my latest victim has been watermelon!! But typically celery with lemon juice.. YUM!

I can now visit you while I’m at work!!! Shhhhhh.
Your site used to be blocked at work and I never ever used to get to comment because I got home after, and totally forgot to. OMG I’m so excited. I’m going to be your newest (most frequent) crazy commenter EVVVVVAH.

FANTASTIC NEWS!!! you know what’s odd though? ryan said he is now actually blocked from this new domain name at work!
ezzie says
Yayy! Congrats on the new domain 😀
I’m defiantly a volume eater; I adore broccoli, lettuce, and all veggies in general. I love grains though, because even a little bit of brown rice will keep me feeling satisfied for a long time after my meal 🙂
Lizzy @ LBBakes says
Congrats on the .com! I am thinking about that too – just trying to decide on the name. 🙂
I am totally a volume eater. That’s why I LOVE giant salads. They are so colorful, exciting, and practically never-ending!
I need to think of some voluminous desserts..
Vitamin Amy says
Yay! Congratulations Julie! I feel like a ton of bloggers including myself just updated to their own domains. That’s awesome! We also had the exact same lunch except no Carba Nada for me boo.

I am definitely a volume eater! It is such a blessing that I actually enjoy veggies (often as a vehicle for getting some PB in my mouth).
I’m excited for you that you got your own domain name! That is on my to-do list! I’m not the most blog savvy either, so I’m hoping for some help along the way.
Taryn says
I am DEFINITELY a volume eater! Last night I definitely overdid it at my stepfather’s Italian restaurant… oops. 😡
Normally I love a spinach salad for lunch with lots of awesome veggies. I also like eating just natural air-popped popcorn — low cal & so crunchily satisfying! Also, Orville Redenbacher makes a delicious 100-cal per bag kettle corn… the serving isn’t HUGE but it’s enough!
JunieB says
most definitely a volume eater. one of my most favorites is WATERMELON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shanna, like Banana says
Oh please fo back to your old site. I can’t check he new one at work because they’ve blocked it. Now I’m on my iPhone. Sigh.
Cabbage is my volume food. Love it!
Julie @ Pickley Pear says
I’m attempting to move to WordPress from Blogger – that’s not easy. Congrats on your official new home.
I’m thinking I need some noodles and pasta sauce in my life tonight for dinner. Maybe with shrimp too!
Erin says
Congrats on the name change! I made sure that I wiped my feet on your welcome mat before coming in. 🙂
I am DEFINITELY a volume eater because I love to eat. Vegetables and fruit are so yummy and the best part is that you can ‘pig out’ on them and remain healthy at the same time.
pursuitofhealthfulness says
Update: I am currently trying to move my domain name and it is so complicated! How did you coordinate with wordpress?
Kate says
I love reading you blog! You show that eating well and exercising are enough to live a healthy life. I love running and eating healthy. However, I have dealt with body images issues for a couple years, but your blog helps me realize that everyone has insecurities and as long as you are happy with yourself then that’s all that matters. So thank you, the blog is awesome!
Hannah says
I know volume eating is fun and all, but from what you said, you seem to be avoiding weight gain like the plague, as if you need control over any increase in weight happening, which, with life, happens from time to time.
Holly says
Def a volume eater. If I want pretzels/chips/cereal, I make a 100 cal bag of popcorn and then add just a little of the chips/cereal/etc to it.
Jenn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
Oh yes, I am definitely a volume eater. I love great big salads for bulk, or any kind of veggie really. I’m not the kind of person that’s happy with just a piece of meat, I need me some sides and a lot of them!! 🙂
